Bumrah blasts out England for series lead - 4th Test, The Oval, Day 5

- This is The Final Word Daily from the England-India Test series of 2021. Adam Collins and Geoff Lemon sum up the action, name our Player of the Day, and rank entries for our own Hall of Fame.
A rare Indian series win in England is within grasp, leading 2-1 with one Test to play after a dramatic final bowling day. Everybody played their part: Ravindra Jadeja as the lead spinner instead of Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah with spells of pure pace, Shardul Thakur with key moments of skill, and Umesh Yadav with joyful ferocity. Rory Burns and Haseeb Hameed held firm for a time, but then the tide came in with an unexpected rush.

Yes well Said, hope to see Pujara at some stage in the final word show....Geoff Lemon and Adam Collins as always you guys Rock.....No bird today on Geoff's shoulder😂
he deserves as well. He has played some part in each win abroad since 2018.
I am not sure he can. There would be some guidelines from BCCI regarding communications during matches...
Inform me when pujara replies
Plz come on the show Che Puji
The knowledge of Geoff and Adam, simply amazing and so mesmerizing to listen to this.
The professionalism of these two is world-class
you guys are the best! love that 30-second ‘racing’ analysis.
That's our trademark :)
@@FinalWordCricket thats so wonderful!
@@FinalWordCricket Geoff should do a workshop: how to speak so fast, and still make sense!!!
Shardul performances in each innings with bat and ball IMO were deserving of the MoM just a little bit more than Ronit’s incredible century. But that doesn’t mean much. Overall, a great team effort.
Shardul was a very important player today for sure, great concerted team effort all around, congratulations to India! Dear Geoff and Adam, the ball Reversed, and How!!!! What an amazing spell of high quality reverse swing from Bumrah; reminded me of Shoaib Akhtar blasting Dravid and Tendulkar's stumps in Kolkata 1999.
@@TheCricketDoctor Yes! I was just thinking of THOSE two balls that the Rawalpindi Express unleashed
It was a joke Rohit was Mom.
Shardul scored 100 runs in the match at critical situation and picked up 3 crucial wickets including dismissing root twice.
😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
@@joylife428 Umesh took Root in 1st innings...
@@bharatvarsha7 anyway he got root in second right.

to the viewers, if we all come together and tweet to Pujara, maybe he will take notice and come to the podcast.
Together we can do this guys, these lads deserve this much from us.
Those 2 bumra wickets reminded me of shoaibakhtar suddenly castling dravid and Sachin in his first test match with india at Calcutta in the last innings and casting a pall of death gloom in the stadium
Yes! One moment, then bang.
Geoff and Adam you two r lovely and lively human being. My family (two daughtersand only one wife)wait for this program to get uploaded. You guys make our day. God bless you. Deepak Sharma from Nigeria

One more great test series coming to end, like how I felt void after Australia tour , I worry I will get same feeling once last test gets over. Bring on such test series soon .....
I think India will be touring South Africa in a few months time.
It has been special.
You two guys do a terrific job! 👏👏👏
I stumbled upon your podcasts only recently and has ever since been kicking myself for missing out your previous podcasts in this yo-yo series.
Keep up the good work!
This is from an Indian fan primarily but equally a Test cricket fan and follower for the past six decades.

Lads, Great show. Keep up the good work. Geoff's analysis on Hameed's batting on Day 5 was on spot. Geoff's voice is so calm, I can listen to him for hours....

The knowledge of Geoff and Adam, simply amazing and so mesmerizing to listen to this. I depend on Geoff and Adam to listen to Indian Men's Cricket Team's incredible performances from California. These two guy are Commentator Super Stars. The timing in California does not allow me to see all through days.
This is exactly what we want the show to be. A way to feel closer to everything that happened, for people who can't watch it all. Or a way to relive it for people who did watch. Thanks Chinmoy, this is great.
You blokes are simply awesome. I never miss any of your videos. Its so refreshing because it is straight, focused and without the theatrics I happen to see with other cricket fan channels. Keep going.
Thanks a lot, that's nice to hear
I have said this before and I will say it again - both of you all are such fantastic, emotional and astute professionals! Keep going my Aussie mates :)
I have never been so proud of my country than watching them play cricket thank you *bcci*

This is super nice, thanks so much.
Loving your work Geoff Lemon and Adam Collins..
Loving your comment.
Great show guys.
You two, are among the best of the analysts, I must admit.
Ah ha, now you've admitted it.
Great insightful round up of the game with subtle humor kept me riveted and chuckling. This series has been splendid and as Lemon rightfully pointed that the flaws on both the teams has kept these games close enough for compelling watch. Long test cricket may continue
Thanks so much Bunty
Thank you guys, you guys are great in analysing the game.
No one gives a day's round up in such a comprehensive way than you two beauties !
Keep it rolling guys ! 😀
We will do our very best
What a tremendous Performance by the Indian Team & what an incredible Test Match & the series it has been. It has truly been an revelation. Those who say test match format should be banned and there should be four day test, this match is the perfect mouth shutting answer for it, Long Live test Matches & 5 day Tests🥰❤️💯🔥👏🏻🇮🇳

I listen so many cricket podcasts, but this is the best... Cricket knowledge and analysis of Geoff is world class.
Love listening to you guys Adam and Geoff !
Shardul changed the momentum of the match and deserved MoM. He is the one who lifted the spirits of the Indian Team.
A little harsh on Hameed guys, he top scored and he's trying to nail a place down, young player, he did well.
He got soo much time playing fast bowling play's effortlessly great young talent 🙏
true. just made a similar comment. and I think he played Bumrah throughout the two test matches really well.
Their point is - Hameed was scoring freely in the last evening. But in the morning his blockathon meant England were going for draw. When you go for draw, you are letting opposition win. Credit to Bumrah and Jadeja for keeping Hameed block. Hameed should work on the front foot drives to keep the pressure back. He has perfect defence though.
He was great on Day 4. But top scoring doesn't matter if you don't help the team, and he didn't help the team on Day 5. Hopefully he can learn from it and improve.
@silverrahul Fact is ball was coming on nicely onto bat. India was worried that the score is chase-able. Think about this scenario. Hameed starts the day with couple of fluent drives in the V and moves to 50. What would Kohli do? He would spread field and block boundaries. That would have been perfect for England. But Hameed did not drive a single ball. Even if Pujara does that I would have said the same. You need to put the pressure back to draw or win.
Excellent Wrap up. Well done to both.. Like the 30 Secs intro and comprehensive analysis. What an year this has been for test cricket!
Thanks a lot. The 30 seconds is our specialty.
Such a surreal podcast, Glad that I follow you guys. Cheers to your works, totally loved it.
Cheers to your cheerfulness, very nice to see.
Always great to hear you guys, today makes it even more special.

Edit: question- are you guys on video call during the pod or is it just an audio call?
Wow I never considered that
Video call but they both have separate cameras recording them.
as an Indian i truly appreciate your efforts to pronounce unusual names (Cheteshwar, and Bumrah is strange even for South Indians like me). Kudos. and Thanks.
Even Bumrah doesn't know how to pronounce his own name. It's actually meant to be said 'Bham-rha'.
@@ronniep9272 really?! in Devanagari (Hindi) script it is बुमराह. a short Boom!
@@moulimarur he is a Punjabi Sikh like myself, his family have lived outside of Punjab for a few generations so they have forgotten the pronunciation of their name. Nice two guys lot of discussion good to watch
I love how nice you guys feel, both as commentators and as persons. Wonderful work.
That's very nice to say. Thank you.
Special mention to Geoff, following a series happening in England from Melbourne, I guess you can’t call it dedication when you truly love the sport, amazing 🙌🏻
What a beautifully made video, it’s like a well made “bhel puri”, just the right amount of sweetness and sourness with the best texture to your pallet, I’m loving it, not too serious, not too casual, lot of knowledge and depth and best thing about this video is I did not notice the time, 26 mins just flew by. Indian commentators and moderators should learn from this video on how to put up a show, especially Sunil Gavaskar and Sanjay Manjrekar.
Thanks buddy, welcome to the channel, glad you liked it.
What a incredible show with two very polite and professional person. Love your analysis of game.
Thanks friend :)
The Final Word, Goeff Lemon, Adam Collins: ONE OF YOUR BEST EVER!! Great, balanced energy and comments covering a great, most entertaining series. Great comments re Mr. Pujara - every time I have been doubtful regarding his capacities and you have stood by him, YOU HAVE BEEN RIGHT!! Unfortunately, amidst all this excitement and drama, what could easily be missed is the SUPERB bowling and effort from England through the series.
Yes, they have been very good. But probably very tired by now.
Congratulations to the team India. To be honest, I did not expect such an unusual unimaginable bowling attack getting England to collapse for 110 /10 wickets. After 100 without a loss, I certainly thought they can defend it very well at least for a draw in such a batting-friendly pitch. It was the mental game that shown us the pressure build-up after Malan's run out.
Krishna.you all will never be out of the game in the fourth innings if your batsman.put up a decent score when you have a superb bowler in Jasprit!! We all in Pakistan know when a really good pace bowlercomes around,we have produced enough of them over the years!! If he remains fit he will continue to give India a pace threat that all SENA countries will fear
You guys always ace the 30 second summary 👍👌 Shardul was the most valuable all round player, and maybe should have gone the MoM...
I love you guys.. please keep on covering cricket. Cricket needs you - young generation representative with such knowledge
That was an absolute treat!! Thank you 🙏
Our pleasure.
6:32, Norcross also commentated live as caught behind for Hameed dismissal, until he realizes that Hameed has been bowled.
Huh, glad it wasn't just us!
Love you both. Doing my bit for the algorithm! Best wishes 🌸
Yesssss the mighty algorithm. Thanks Nilesh, very considerate.
that last part where you talk about off field moments its sommething different.. loved that part as well.. keep that in
Enjoy your guys.. Thanks for all the efforts you put into making this 😀 Love your analysis and presentation !
Shardul was like the spy who was sent to unlock the gates of castle 🏰 before it got stormed by others. He broke open the door in the morning and again with roots wicket. Not to forget he got pope out in first innings.
Well he had to live up to his title of 'Lord'
I would like to take a moment to appreciate Haseeb Hameed and Ollie Pope. They played well in this test match. They should be given more chances.
Yes, they were both good.

Whoever doubting rohit been given MoM, don't realise the timing of the innings by him. 100 runs deficit, overcast conditions, new ball.
Truely deserved. Setting the tone for other to perform later
Yes, good argument.
Missing adam and harsha duo on cricbuzz. Though loving that deep satisfying voice of geoff, could hear geoff for hours talking cricket
Agreed, Irish coffee is best, especially Geoff's twisted accent and his strong likes and dislikes. And if he is at odds with fellow commentator say sunny gavaskar... Life becomes special and spicy
Hahaha. Thanks guys. This is very nice for us to read.
I've been watching your older shows. Incisive analysis and good observations. I'm now a fan and subscriber. Great going & keep up the good work (and I do hope Cheteshwar makes an appearance on your show) ! 👏 👏
Hello to one of the great fielding positions. Thanks for watching the back catalogue!

England is also a good team! The fact that they didn't have stokes ,butler and Archer! But other than root someone need to step up for England! They are playing home! They should be familiar to the conditions but Indian fast bowling is has been revolution in past 4-5 years now!Bumrah just bowled one of the best spells I have ever seen! On a flat deck! Hope weather should be fine in Manchester and we would see real cricket which is test cricket! Test cricket is really fascinating and the real form of cricket! It tests you in every form!

An indian cricket crezy fan
My Indian XI for the 5 th test: Rahul, Rohit, Pujara, Virat, Surya, Pant, Ashwin, Shardul, Shami, Bumrah, Umesh
Nope. Replace Ashwin with Jadeja. Very sad but Ashwin won’t play in the series
This should be the team but Virat wont play Ashwin thats for sure coz he thinks there is no left arm seamers in both teams so there will be no rough for Ashwin.. also he might just go with Rahane and if rahane score a 50 he will be safe forever
@@logicalmusaafir2103 why should he persist with rahane when he has failed consistently, enough chances given to him. Also Pujara is not performing well
@@_Human_Being_ bro Pujara has done well he is safe now Rahane need just one struggling 50 from 150 balls in 2nd inning to be safe forever.
@@logicalmusaafir2103 if Rahane plays the 5 th test after a string of pathetic performances, it will convey a message that the team management is discouraging merit and selecting some players just on the basis of distant past performances and favouritism.
Surya yadav or Mayank Agarwal should play instead of Rahane. Also Shami instead of Siraj and Ashwin in place of Jadeja
Dhoni would have played 3 spinners on this pitch, credit to Kohli & co for getting selections right at last.
Haseeb Hameed was surely holding one end just like how Pujara did in Gabba, until Malan thing happened.
Great stuff - passion comes through
Geoff and Adam, love your energy and in-depth (and impartial) coverage of the test match. Wishing you many more successful podcasts ...
Thanks, we love cricket and having people watch the show.
Absolutely agree with the point made about Hameed. He was non threatening and India wouldn't have minded him staying for long. Vaughan even said after his dismissal that it's gonna do the team a lot better in regards to strike rate.
Well.. he did better than any other England better in this innings. He did his part actually. Quite well. It's not hus fault the whole middle order was a failure.
@@md5820 he did bat quite well undoubtedly but his approach wasn't going to win them the match- needed to shift gears like Gill did at the Gabba- would have atleast set a momentum
The hunt for a pace allrounder finally ends. Selectors were looking everywhere but they had one all along in the squad. A bit of consistency in the middle order and India XI will be sorted.
The best cricket podcast series you can hope to find. Keep doing the great work guys!

Anik kumble and Ajit agarkar also have test centuries. But shardul thakur has far better batting technique than all other bowlers including RaviChandran Ashwin.
Having said that he will struggle against the moving ball in Manchester. Hope he gets set and then he'll only be batting the way he does.
Centuries yes, but not two 50+ scores in the same match.
