What confidence the Indian team has to actually say that they can manage fine without their most successful spin bowler in English conditions. The English team was preparing for Ashwin, so India simply said, "We won't give you what you are getting ready for." Expect the unexpected is fast becoming the tagline for the Indian team. And it is primarily Kohli who has ensured that the team has that kind of confidence. Indian fans may not appreciate him.... any Australian fan would welcome him into their side in a heart beat.
Indian fans have become quite spoilt in last 10-15 years or so. The generation before Kohli did not get too aggressive and hence their noses hurt when Kohli gets aggressive.

There is something known as the approach under scoreboard pressure and whether they have the clarity of thoughts as to how to go about, whether to chase or not. If it was anything less that 250, England was an easy winner.

Jarrod, one word of advice though I am huge admirer of your videos. Never correlate numbers in Indian FC Cricket with international batting or bowling ability. Too many teams at FC level, too many 120k seamers, too many non-spinning spinners, too many flat pitches or pitches doing too much. E.g. Murali Vijay and Abhinav Mukund were openers for Tamil Nadu at the same time from about 2006 till 2019. Vijay was averaging low to mid 40s in FC Cricket when he made his debut for India whereas Mukund was averaging close to 60. Vijay became our best batsmen in SENA (SA, Eng, NZ, Aus) Countries during our visit to SENA Countries between 2013-15 (post 2017 Vijay lost his reflex) and Mukund's batting showed he never belonged at international level. Thakur averages 16 for Mumbai whereas Shivam Dube averages 48 for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy. At international level it is very evident that Thakur is the better batsman by a distance. Thakur was a phenomenon in U16 and club cricket hitting 4s and 6s for fun. It's only when he joined Mumbai Ranji Team he concentrated on his bowling and didn't take his batting seriously. Shreyas stays leg side of the ball and doesn't have good enough technique to succeed at the test level. He is too slow for a t20 player. He is better suited to odis and that too when ball is not moving.
So you want bumrah to continue?? I feel bumrah is more important at the moment keeping t20WC in mind. If bumrah plays in Manchester test which ends on 14th September, then he heads straight to IPL without much rest and plays all games for MI(they are not in a position to rest players this season),then the world cup comes where again bumrah is vital. There is a very heavy chance that bumrah wo'nt be able to take this much workload. I would bring shami instead of bumrah and maybe push siraj for this test because he is not in world cup schemes.

Shreyas stays leg side of the ball and doesn't have good enough technique to succeed at the test level. He is too slow for a t20 player. He is better suited to odis and that too when ball is not moving.
So you want bumrah to continue?? I feel bumrah is more important at the moment keeping t20WC in mind. If bumrah plays in Manchester test which ends on 14th September, then he heads straight to IPL without much rest and plays all games for MI(they are not in a position to rest players this season),then the world cup comes where again bumrah is vital. There is a very heavy chance that bumrah wo'nt be able to take this much workload. I would bring shami instead of bumrah and maybe push siraj for this test because he is not in world cup schemes.
