  • India took a famous victory against England in the second Test of their five match series, at the home of cricket, Lord's. Going into the final day all four results were possible, but a brilliant partnership from Bumrah and Shami gave India a commanding lead. To draw the game England only needed to bat 60 overs, however that was too much for them as Siraj, Bumrah and co. ran riot to give India a 1-0 win?
What went wrong for England? How surprising was this win? Did the mind games work?
    Summary 3:55

    Bowling at Bumrah 11:45

Great session and love your brutal honesty and on spot humor!
Interestingly, India dominated test cricket for last two years and lost one game that mattered for the championship to NZ in a match that was rain affected and less than perfect. But you will not find any Indian fan complaining about it, two reasons - 1) weather is not biased against India and 2) NZ played really good cricket.
The defeat at Lords & Gabba hurt English & Aussie fans so much because these two teams have been bullying other teams for several decades and now others are paying them back due to superior talent and bench strength.

  • @rikkenpatel8506

Root and Jimmy got into their emotions and made the same mistake that Tim Paine and the Aussie quicks did against Shardul and Washy at Gabba and tried to bounce the tailenders out with some atrocious field placements. They were literally hoping that the ball finds one of the fielders in the deep. The expressions on their faces when Shami and Bumrah started to play their shots and they couldnt do anything about that were just hilarious, similar to the expressions on Paine and Starc's faces lmao. Unlike the English players, the emotions got the best out of our Indian bowlers especially Siraj who has that similar fire in his belly and is grown so much after each test. So good to watch, probably one of my favorite cricketers rn. Kohli's contagious energy really pumps the entire team up which I just love and aren't gonna back down from some trash talk as long as you can walk the talk.

And we went from total despair at Pant's wicket thinking England have surely won it at that point, went to being even slightly hopeful. It was the most headscratchingly joyous moment for us, I can tell you.

Lads! As they say in the Old Testament(or wherever), there are seven stages of grieving..I think we are stuck at stage one called ‘Denial’. The Gabba had same traits as this game had..At the highest level, these fine margins as you call them, are the difference between a good team and a great team and England are neither at the moment.

  • @vedantpachisia6635

    So, there's a rule in cricket -
Sub-clause 12.9.4.1 states “if the fielding team bowls out the batting team in 60 overs or less in any particular innings and the minimum over rate requirement for that innings has not been exceeded (taking into account all of the time allowances described above), no account shall be taken of the actual over rate in that innings when calculating the actual over rate at the end of such match”.
That is why Kohli declared after 9 balls post lunch. Kohli is a super aggressive captain. He won't let a chance go if there is one to win a game.

  • @tanvirhasanshuvo2968
    @tanvirhasanshuvo2968 3 года назад +11

The reason Kohli didn't declare 30-40 minutes before lunch is that when Shami and Bumrah were batting the pitch looked so flat( or eng made it look flat with their bowling) that there were danger of losing with Root in this kind of form. Also there was a slight drizzle during lunch which may had an effect on bowling condition( evident by the 2 overs of Eng after lunch).

    • @shubhamchaudhary5916

Some major contradictory lines by Hope here.
They were a equally matched side for 4 days, it is only when Bumrah and Kohli got in their heads, they started crumbling and choking under the pressure.
How else do you justify the 4 days play, at the end of which results were tipping heavily in England's favour and then it got turned on its head?
If you are a bad team, you shouldnt be able to get the likes of Rohit, Kohli , Pant, out. But you did get them out.
If you are a bad team, you should be trailing by a lightyear at the end of first innings, but you infact you had a slender lead.
They got in your head, and exposed the english as weak minded- soft puppies who crumbled and got it all wrong.
A combined average of 13 between Shamrah puts up nearly a century partnership?
A team which hit nearly 400 in first innings under no mental games, crumbles under 60 overs to score a paltry 120 under mental games?
The fact is, English team IS a weak side, but not that weak to make those kind of mistakes,
But they are, for a lack of a better word, sissies when it comes to mentality and that was what got exposed.

Even though India bowled well, there's no way england should be getting bowled out in two sessions on that pitch. That was a woeful display of batting. If shami and bumrah can bat a session then i'm quite sure english batsmen can bat two sessions on that pitch no matter how horrible they are as batsmen

Sam Curran is not being used properly. He is a gun player like Stokes. They are ruining him.
Remember the last ODI against India this year?
Another example when Dre Russell was hitting all CSK bowlers out of the park, it was him and his precise thinking which bowled him.
I think only Dhoni is using him properly.

people keep saying that england lost because of shami-bumrah partnership but thats not true...england were bowled out for 120..so clearly the partnership at best only had a physchological impact...what really is the reason is the poor batting of england except root...especially their lack of confidence...if anything, perhaps england tactics against shami-bumrah partneship was probably because england wanted to get a draw out of the game by making the indian tailenders hang on and score slowly once pant was out...considering their batting depth they figured the lesser they bat the better their chances of drawing the game...

This Lords win doesn't compare to GABBA. Lords win was a bit like the Ocean's 11 type heist movie where the Indian team had all the cool guys like Pitt and Clooney and they somehow won from a position where it seemed totally unlikely. 170 ahead with 8 down, 3 number 11s batting, away from home, Anderson in form, and then bowling England out in just 50 over when Root is in the form of his life, getting the last three wickets with just 10 overs to go, including a set Robinson and Butler.. it just seemed unlikely. Even Bumrah and Shami getting that 90* partnership seemed like it was one of those wtf scenes from a heist movie where you were thinking there is no way that the antagonists would be this incompetent in real life. GABBA on the other hand was a genuine David vs Goliath type story, at the end of a long series, with India playing net bowlers and T20 players due to endless injuries , covid related challenges for visiting teams , at Australia's fortress where no team had beaten them for 30 years.. that win was more like Lagaan or Rocky or Hoosiers.

While everyone keeps saying the obvious thing that England's tactics against Bhumrah, Shami was not good in that they should have bowled full, at the stumps rather than have 6 fielders on the boundary line, I felt that England were probably afraid of chasing anything more than 170-180. In other words even if Shami, Bumrah had got out cheaply setting England 190 to win, England might have lost anyway for as it turned out they could not survive 60 overs. Also even though England were in a strong position at the beginning of Day-5, they were more afraid of losing the test match rather than trying to win or at least save it which explains the defensive tactics. All boils down to lack of confidence on the batting unit as such for though Joe Root is playing brilliantly and bailing them out almost every time, it is not good to depend on one batsmen like for the Top-3 is still weak and so is the middle order so England have to find someone who is solid at the top, probably bring back Dawid Malan there, Ollie Pope in the middle order.

Gr8 analysis guys , but it wud have been gr8 if u guys shared some genuine credits to Siraj , and Kohli aggression and some parts to highlight and debrief rather refusing to accept the fact that England very bullied by India and to win this series england has to fight the bull by its horns , don't u think ?

Easy Sollution... Get that MASTERSTROKE MAN who decided ROTATION POLICY... Agree it was Covid time.. But if's not impacting OTHER TEAMS... why England team is doing this... we want to play best English team.. Not ragga tagaa players .. It's OK if you play Wood Curran or Robinson alongwith to Andersorn, Archer and Broad.. but when one Anderson with just so so bowlers won't do (Indian batting middle order too Including Kohli is not in form, but there is class and it is coming around, why give them chance of doing that)

  • @harifederer

A little bit hyperbolic from Jack with regards to how bad a batting performance that was from England in the 4th innings. They pretty much all got out to good balls with the exception of Burns who played a bad shot.
