I had 3 '69s, in my youth, the third of which was actually a Caprice, which was my favorite of the three. All great cars! Wish I'd had the money and the time to restore the Caprice. Good job on yours, and good luck!

My mother bought a new 70 Impala. As a teenager, I got to drive it occasionally. I was impressed at how quickly it would exelerate to illegal speeds for a big car, with only a two barrel carb.

My brother had a 66 Caprice with a 327 in it. He got his license 2 years before I did, and we cruised that beast like crazy cranking bands like the Cars, Nazareth, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. 1978 was a really good year, and 1979 was even better.

Quadrajet is better then any edelbrock.

I was going to say that but he was so excited about the Edelbrock I didnt have the heart to tell him. Hes got a long path ahead of him he needs all the encouragement, love, support and counseling he can get. He can get a new girlfriend when the car is done.

For sure! Qjet is my all time favorite carb. When I see an Edelbrock carb the first thing I think is that whoever put it on doesn't know how to properly rebuild a q jet.

I bought a 4 door 1969 Biscayne last may 327 with a powerglide sat since 99. Me and my buddies freed the motor and got it running within 2 days all it took was a set of points (did a full tune up since I did that part) and poured a little tranny fluid into the cylinders and it freed up and doesn't miss a beat now. Love these cars

This is going to be a cool project look forward to seeing more of it. I see it still sports the engine mount straps that GM used to combat poor motor mounts from about 1966. Well done!!

    • @michaelpung4121

True but the factory Qjet on that car was 750 cfm. Metering rods on these carbs control fuel flow according to application.

Makes me miss my 68 sport coupe, 327 4bbl 4speed 12 bolt posi split bench front seat with tachometer, my dad bought it from his co worker at John Deere in moline IL who special ordered him so close to ss impala, it could of been a twin what fun I had I taught many pretty girls to drive a 4 speed 😉

Those hubcaps don't appear to be original. Wire wheel covers was more of a late 70s thing like on my parents 79 Monte Carlo landau. They also bought a 70 Impala custom deluxe brand new off the showroom floor that had more like dog dish type hubcaps

I had a '69 Impala Custom with some super sport options. It had a rebuilt small block LT1 with a lot of other performance upgrades. The original color was the same blue as yours. When I got it it had a new red paint color. I drove the hell out of that car for a good five years. Ended up having to let it go but I sure as hell had a lot of fun owning & driving it......

The starter you have is for a flex plate that has 168 teeth, hence the diagonal mounting pattern. The one they tried to sell you with the straight bolt pattern is for a 153 tooth flex plate.
