While I love "Sins of the Father," the episodes about interstellar politics usually aren't my favorites. But that's the great thing about Star Trek in general and TNG in particular; it offers something for everyone. That's why I like watching your reactions; it's fun to see which episodes resonate with you (or not) and why. I'm surprised that you liked "Allegiance" as much as you did, but not at all disappointed. It's just great to watch you loving Star Trek!
Most channels when they get to the end and roll credits on their outro I go on ahead to the next video in my queue, but your TNG song is so amazing I have to stay and listen to the whole thing every time.
If you're interested in learning how the audience can be ahead of the main character and still be highly entertained, I suggest you watch a few episodes of Colombo.
I predict there are still between 3 and 5 episodes this Season you both will love. Yesterday's Enterprise is my second favourite of the season, my favourite and third favourite are both still ahead.
Like the May 12th, 1990 first aired episode. The one between The Most Toys and the Shakespeare's reciting episode. Then it's Transfigurations (which to me became a very underrated low key episode), and the very BIG one!!!

While the Enterprise scenes during Allegiance are great, the scenes with Real Picard feel like watching someone trying to solve a boring escape room, so that knocks it down a notch for me.

I always loved the Picard replacement episode. You know that this probably isn't Picard, but you don't know why. He doesn't have an overt agenda, just keeps acting a little off before obviously ordering the ship to be destroyed by the pulsar.

Poor Riker, if he knew Picard went looking for Kayless especially when Worf said it was too dangerous he would have had a fit. By this time, even Patrick Stewart once complained his character wasn't doing any of the fun stuff Kirk did hence the backing off of Riker keeping the Capt. safe.
I am a little surprise so many didn’t like Allegiance. I always found it to be a great episode. Now it isn’t my top episode by any means but it does what it does really well. I assume there is some dislike because there are a few unanswered questions by the end like what the other copies were doing and why exactly they were ordering the ship into a death trap. I like to assume that Esoqq’s copy since he represented anarchy was trying to impose law and order on his people while Kova Tholl’s copy from the Mizar pacifists was engaging in violence and/or trying to initiate a build up in military or hostilities between them and other powers to see how far the other’s pacifism would go in the face of one of their own being violent.
You spoke about using Star Trek quotes, for obvious reasons i won't give spoilers, but my ex girlfriend and i would often randomly ise DS9 quotes to eavh other. My current gf of 6 years is still a Star Trek virgin, but is interested to watch at some point. (We are in a long distance relationship otherwise i'd have made sure she watched sooner lol).
For us personally at my house it's the whispering. I love McDonnell more in small doses, supporting roles, especially ones where that delivery of hers fits. She was a great antagonist in The Closer. Her rule loving character was constantly compared to a hall monitor and how she talks worked well with that character's holier than thou attitude.

The Helo/Caprica storyline suffers badly from pacing issues. Interspersing it with the Galactica stories makes it feel like an eternity with basically nothing happening.

(So he really loved Babylon 5, which is full of science fiction literary allusions and thus not something I think I'd recommend to TA.) So the idea of Star Trek as like relatively obscure is even odd to me. Although I'd say mostly my family likes both Star Wars and Trek.
TNG i can't wait until you get to the question why Klingon from TOS and TNG are not the same, we know the reason budget and technology in markup artist. But for storytelling. it a good question and startrek series tries to fix by explaining what happen or there multiple house in the klingon empire, some we have seen and others we have never or just heard of. But I can't wait for you guys to have a good laught at the topic when you reach that point in the klingon. don't worry it not really a spoiler. you seen the klingon in TOS the movies and TNg so far so you probably have ask or question why the are different. Event Christopher Loyd played a strange klingon, all obscured in shadow compared to Worf or any klingon crew you seen.
