I'll probably be remaking this rewrite soon to update it with all my new writing theories as well better visuals as I think i've made significant improvements in my standards since. If you're interested in what kind of quality its likely to be, see my Attack on Titan rewrite for what I'm capable of writing these days: ruclips.net/video/UkoLhVZgIj8/видео.html
This is amazing news! I've recently finished watching Game of Thrones as a first time viewer, and this rewrite washed away the bitter taste left by the last two seasons, especially the 8th. Subscribed. I'm looking forward to it!!!
It's also very in character from what I remember. Vary always cared about the realm. Probably the only politician in the whole show that was arguably fighting for the people... even if he too wasn't even close to perfect, and was very 'ends justify the means' in his approach.
@@sullyrulezz3191 come on man dany didnt deserve what we saw annd ofc jon also didnt deserve what he got too. until the book says otherwise, dany is still the best option as a ruler
@@lelouchvibritannia8997 True book wise, we don’t know what happened and honestly she could still show herself a good ruler. Though this video can kind of be seen as repairing what was damaged in the tv series, to me this is a true ending to the tv series and everything about it just connects perfectly. It honestly makes sense to me that Dany just wanted to go home and that her desire was warped because of Viserys and all the shit she endured.
I honestly love the idea of all the Lannister siblings losing what defines them. Jaime loses his sword hand, Cersei loses her children, and Tyrion loses his tongue
@@hennessya96 yea it would definitely be easier to do in the books since its pov, George would be able to just tell us his thoughts instead of him talking
because that will probably happen in books Jamie lost sword hand but he learn to use the other ,Cercei lost her children and probably will have live through it ,Tyrion will for sure lose his tongue because there countless of people that say it to him ,so he will have to learn how to live as a mute 3 crippled Lannisters
@@Peacefulpoppetttt Cersei defines herself by her children Jaime even says “I WAS that hand” Tyrion is his tongue, he’s always talked himself out of trouble and into power
"Chaos is a ladder, right? Tell me, in all that time, did you ever think where you'd run next once you reach the top?" ok, but this line is so good tho, I can't even-
Yup, you fool Little finger, chaos is a ladder but now everywhere is in chaos and you have nowhere to turn. It reminds me of when Little finger got too ahead of himself and Cersei nearly had him killed just to prove a point, "Power is power".

And their deaths being from inhuman conflict and not due to another human getting the one up on either of them is perfect. Just take them and that out of the picture entirely.
In a strange way; he almost deserves it. He played the ultimate weasel for more than three decades; a sly little bastard that dedicated should get his damn mouse lol
@@Dragon.um5tz The ending might not have been that bad in itself, but the way we got there and the character's personality the show decided to slaughter is horrendous
That whole part with Arya actually properly utilizing her ability as a faceless man with the intention of killing Cersei would’ve been so good, and now I’m pissed it never happened
Yeah, but I kinda didn't understand one moment. How can Arya wear Jaime's face? Doesn't she need to kill the one whose face she intends to use? Or is it different in the books?
@@kim_0286 someone else mentioned that since arya saw her own face on one of the dead bodies in the house of black and white while she was still alive, it might not be entirely impossible
@@kim_0286 IIRC they never established the whole "cutting off faces" thing in the book, that's just from the show. Though it's been several years so there's a chance I'm mistaken
I love that it ironically made him the ironborn ideal, a relentless killing machine, but he isn't doing it for gloryhunting, he is doing it out of guilt
Devastatingly depressed and suicidal Theon having sudden, impenetrable plot armor is a stroke of dark comedic *genius* but also a brilliant way to develop his character
His wailing after the ice dragon just dies robbing him of his deepest wish actually made me tear up. I wish we'd gotten this because the actor could have pulled it off beautifully
You can just imagine if this was actually the season, you would have RUclipsrs commenting on it like "it's like he has plot armour, but doesn't want it!" not knowing it was exactly the point.
The only major thing I disagree with is Tyrion is a secret Targaryen, not because it cheapens how special Jon is, but because a) it makes zero sense timeline wise for Joanna to have been impregnated by a Targaryen. But more importantly it cheapens Tyrions story line. His father hates him, is disgusted by him, and the irony of it all is that Tyrion was the most like him, and if Tyrion wasn’t a dwarf he would have been a perfect heir to Tywin. Tyrion being a secret Targaryen vindicates his father in treating him like a monster because then he was right, then Tyrion really wasn’t his son. So personally I prefer making Jon a bit op in this case.
Further, I think Tywin was disgusted by Tyrion even more BECAUSE he was the perfect heir - except for his being a dwarf. If had been bodily like Jamie I think Tywin would have praised his wife for her sacrifice in giving him the perfect son rather than blaming Tywin for her death.
I think its *much* more meaningful to have Dany allied with two dragons, all the power in her hands,--- and still choosing to walk away. THAT is acceptable. The Tyrion theory does not have a lot of water when you hold the timeline like you said. Its just a reason for Tywin to hate Tyrion, and to add spicy rumors to their family.
Actually the timeline for Tyrion to be Targaryen is spot-on. Joanna was at KL in 272 at a Tourney - Tyrion born 273 -we don't have months, but it could easily be 9 months apart. Further, something happened that made Tywin so angry that he tried to resign as Hand, but Aerys refused. I absolutely understand the statement that it cheapens Tyrion's story - I don't necessarily agree, but I get the sentiment. I think it just changes his story personally.
Tyrion "getting his tongue ripped out and running back to danny not being able to speak and realizing how useless he is" is one of the saddest thoughts i've ever had.
Hole in that plot tho. Tyrion is literate. He was shown in the earlier seasons to be an avid reader. He can just write down his thoughts even without a tongue. Takes longer but not useless by itself.
It could happen in the books. In the books Tyrion is a villain who pushes for death and destruction and more than 1 person has remarked about removing Tyrion's tongue so-if they are ever finished-it may happen.
@@pplr1 I’m mostly a show watcher so when I imagine Tyrion getting his tongue ripped out I imagine the white washed show version of him and not the evil book Tyrion.
@@deadlyknights1119 Totally understandable. Also less earned in a moral sense. Failure to plan well is different from believing one is arranging for other people to die.
Goodness I- I'm just at that part and I was lying down. I literally got down from my bed, paused the video and paced around for a moment to process it. THIS IS SO BEAUTIFUL!
No, it should be Daeneria. Just like she used the names of her husband and brothers to name the dragons, the first Queen of the new kingdom should name it after herself
@@raymaxxTVNah. New Valyria is better. Naming animals and naming territory invoke two different thought processes. You'd want to give your new country a name that reflects a vision that outlives you. New Valyria is poetic given Daenerys and her family's history of displacement and wanting to preserve Valyrian culture.
The "burn them all" reveal actually gave me chills man. It's so good and it's also really satisfying after the "hodor" future messing with the past thing that didn't go anywhere in the actual show. Also that detail of Sansa singing to Theon was everything I needed. Instead of the dumb "femininity is weakness so she has to go all badass" thing, she grows from doing things like singing in a childish, naive manner to using it and her gentleness to comfort someone in deep pain. That's the Sansa I wanted to see. Great job!
Bran realising the Night King simply wanting to go home but being driven mad by Bloodraven's meddling in the past would've legit been such a good plot point
1:45:06 The image of a naked, silver haired Aegon Targaryen rising from the rubble and flames, while screaming and furiously pulling a whole ass sword from his chest goes SOOOO HARDDD
legit got chills during the Red Priest sacrifice into Azor Ahai into Jon's speech rousing the remnants of an army out of the ashes sequence. Fulfilling prophecy, completing character arcs with *purpose*, all whilst looking fucking cool as shit. THAT'S how you end a multimillion dollar TV show. That's how you earn and keep the title - greatest of all time.
While I emphatically concur. it'd be a miracle for Hollywood to adjust the pace and take it's time to appropriately land that millions-dollar season per year hurtling comet of actors and licenses, nightmares and contracts. Even though it'd have been worth the cost to do it right, they did have a mission impossible to do it in.
It was completely missing from the films. Also he didn't say but it should be semi magical, Jon should have powers like the ice king, although not to raise wights but the wounded warriors wounds would physically heal with flames searing them shut and their vigor returning to flll strength. The Azor Azai is supposed to be demigod powerbut it would go away as soon as the night king is beaten.
With the best kind of ending for a man like him. Killed by a product of his own ambition. I wish this whole fan fiction was the reality. It’s fantastic.
1:52:15 The problem isn’t that it cheapens Jon. The problem is that it cheapens Tyrion’s relationship with Tywin and the rest of his family if he isn’t Tywin’s son.
I think one of Tywin's sons should turn out to be the Mad King's son but not Tyrion. It should be Jaime, the irony that Tyrion is Tywin's only biological son.
@@belleville1805 Well, it adds to the sad irony of Tywin's all-consuming desire for legacy & position; in the books, Jaime's conversation with GhostMom when he's tripping, as a result of his injury, I think (it's been a hot minute since I read them) kind of feels like it would naturally be pulled in that direction - she says what Tywin's always wanted (since the days when their family was thought weak, under his father): For his house to be powerful & feared, for Jaime to be a great knight, & for Cersei to be queen- Jaime says all of that has happened, but Joanna just gives this heart-breaking smile; she knows that _despite_ getting what they wanted, they are essentially ruined, because of everything that's happened to achieve all of it - House Lannister *is* powerful & feared, *_but_* also hated & despised: despite Tywin's work to distance himself from Elia & the kids' deaths & blame it all on Lorch & the Mountain - despite distancing himself from the Red Wedding, letting the Freys & Boltons take the dubious 'honour' - no one's fooled: neither the individuals, nor the houses' lords would have taken those actions without his say-so. Jaime technically _is_ a great knight, but not only is he bound to the Kingsguard (like the Nights' Watch, no wife- no kids)- he *also* has the disgrace of kingslaying attached to him. Even his greatest act (saving Kingslanding) is tainted by what he had to do, in order to do it- & no one knows. Cersei's queen, but she's quite possibly the worst personality to have any kind of power; reckless & biased in the extreme- favouring a psychotic-in-the-making that she had next-to-no control over (in the books, he died pretty young- though he still did incalculable damage, & she still thinks him faultless- unlike ShowCersei, which kind of undermines her failings as a mother, imo - ShowJoffrey felt to me more like a projection of BookJoffrey; what he _might_ have become if he lived a bit longer)- & neglecting & then manipulating a sweet-natured boy, when _he_ came into power- to preserve her own authority for a bit longer. Gods alone knows how she managed to avoid tainting Tommen & Myrcella. Cersei's a jealous*, arrogant, power-hungry fool who's so greedy & reckless that she will treat subordinates like crap, & allies like threats (even family- see: Kevan Lannister)- she only wants people who will do what she says, rather than what is best- & endorse her point of view, being completely oblivious to the fact that she's alienating the few supporters she has left. If they question her, or fail her (regardless of whether an action was her idea or not)- then they're nothing to her, & she won't hesitate to throw them under the proverbial bus, to buy herself good will, or a bit more time - she's so short-sighted that she will take instant gratification/ a perceived immediate 'win', over a bit of hard work & compromise- despite the fact that she's opening herself up to much larger problems... Tyrion being Tywin's only legitimate child makes his treatment of him (& his ultimate fate at Tyrion's hands) all the more ironic. *I genuinely believe accidentally, or deliberately- BookCersei will be responsible for Myrcella's death (as part of her paranoia regarding the 'younger queen' part of the _valonqaar_ prophecy)
Thank you for bring back to form the constant twist and betrayals and using ALL the main characters to progress the story. Theon's Plot armor is still unbeaten. this is some shibari level tying of loose knots made by dumb and dumber.... Also this is the most positive of the alternate endings i've seen written so far.
Wow…..you’ve just melted 2.5 hours of my time….and you made me feel the emotions I have long forgotten and thought I would never feel again. GoT was my single favorite show that I cherished with my heart, and I was so sad and disappointed when it turned into shit in later seasons. I thought the harm could never be undone and I will have forever lost something that could have been a true masterpiece. You….you’ve changed that for me. The original scene where dany burnt down the city and became the mad queen was confusing, but you’ve made that same exact scene much more powerful and believable. You saved the character developments and made their relationship much more complex and interesting. You made all the dots connect to a plot that is consistent, surprising, and ingenious. You have revived and completed my favorite show that suffered a dishonorable death. Thank you so much for what you’ve done.
So good, I wish this is how the real series wrapped up. Cersei being killed by Jamie is what should've happened. Theon's quest for death gives him more to do. The dynamic between Jon and Danny seems more organic than it did in the show. I both love and hate the idea of Tyrion losing his tongue though. Littlefinger actually getting all the way to the tippy top of the game of thrones only to be hit with his own hubris would've been much more satisfying then whatever dumbshit they pulled with him in Winterfell. I also like the connections with the NightKing and Bram just not sitting around like a zombie himself.
Same. I wanted to watch something different, so I said to my self, I will only watch the beginning and then go and watch the other stuff. Maybe come back. And now it’s 2 dam hours and 15 minuts later. God dam.
I love that the one piece of information that gave Varys the edge over Baelish was only gotten while he was out in the thick of the conflict, which is the opposite of how Baelish operates.
I had tears a few times man, especially during Theon's end. I would absolutely watch a 10 hour version of this with Voice Actors, a Narrator, and some simple black and white art.
I could also narrate and maybe do a couple of more NPC style voices. I don't have a "main character" voice. I sound like I garbled with gravel and gasoline and have a southern accent but can fake a Scottish accent for a few sentences.
Theon was an awful person! He had children and civilians murdered in order to torment the Starks. Never-did-anything Bran cryptically telling Theon, "You're a good man" was mawkish BS!
The way that you made that "burn them all" phrase into a full circle is honestly just masterful. Even when I was expecting it and have known about it, the way you unfolded the events held so much tension and uncertainty. The same thing goes with "chaos is a ladder" and Varys' and Littlefinger's fate. It is so perfect. As an aspiring writer, this is some of the best re-writes I've seen, and my only complaint is that I will never see this happen on screen.
Wow so this is what happens when a writer cares about buildup and payoff, making plot points and character arcs meaningful and taking the time to tell a complete story.. excellent job. I actually feel more at peace now with the show than I have since s8. Wonderfully done
I might have finally be thankful for my memory failing me. I don't even remember season 8, aside form some parts shown in this video.... but now? Now I can bookmark this, and enjoy the whole series properly... without the last two seasons being.... wrong? yea.... without the Wrong that was introduced into our Universe. I'll come back in 5 more years.... after I forget the whole thing... and enjoy it again :)!
The entirety of the final meeting between Varys and Littlefinger, start to end, is perfect. Giving the Night King that backstory of wanting to go home and tying it to Daenerys' character development is genius. This is obviously much, much better than the crap D&D threw together.
I love the emphasis on the people in the story who actually PLAY the game. The whole point of the show from the first season isn’t about who’s the strongest or the best fighter, it’s about who plays the game the best.
this Theon… is amazing! You actually managed to make it convincing not only in terms of his character, but as much needed comic relief too. it even fits lore wise - “what is dead may never die” :D and the “Burn them all” part was just straight up jaw dropping, i had to grab my head to keep it from spinning, this has to be an upcoming plotpoint in the original story! it fits too good not to be intentional. In general, a lot of characters are written soooooooo much better here. money and fame is truly the death of duty and passion for those tv series writers…
The fixes to Jon alone are just magnificent, I had such an issue with how he was handled in the last two seasons. He was brought back to life to serve no purpose and had no consequence.
Even just 20 minutes in, and this is such a brilliant rewrite. Writing Jon as an actual character with a brain and the will to play the Game of Thrones for once is something that should've been a no-brainer.
he basically turned Jon into Uhtred of Bebbanburg from the Last Kingdom. seriously if you watch that series you get serious Jon snow vibes from him but a Jon Snow who isn't a complete dumbass and is actually tactically smart and is very VERY good at the game of thrones. (the political warring)
There’s a couple of things that are a little corny or awkward but overall I really like it. People aren’t passing around the idiot ball like it’s hot potato, cool things happen for actual reasons and not just because it’d look cool on screen, Jaime doesn’t throw away all of his character development. This is now my canon.
Kinda agree, but somehow it makes the utopian ending much more satisfying. After all the grim and pessimistic story, we finally see some light and peace. At least for a time.
and also winter came so what's with all the sunshine and bird songs in the new utopian lands of john and dany while they should all be cold and starving by now
I know that the biggest point of the saga is that simplistic "Good and bad" ideals aren't really how things actually play out, but it is for that same reason that I think a good and peaceful ending is what the story actually deserves.
That's the problem with A Song of Ice and Fire. It's probably why George R. R. Martin can't finish it. It's an anti-story story. You can't write a satisfying conclusion without betraying the idea of not having satisfying conclusions. I do believe it is why it's objectively weak story telling. Extremely entertaining drama but not a good story.
Theon not being able to kill himself and ending up doing very heroic things reminds me of purple heart winners thinking their already dead/going to die and doing whatever they can to save others
The line where Tyrion blows up at Jaime for getting mad about killing Tywin was brilliantly written, I can totally imagine seeing it in the show (season 4 even)
I’ve watched so many alternative endings (in an effort to relieve my pain 🥲) and Danny building her own kingdom is my f*cking favoriteee! I’d 1000% rather her building her own than ruling over ashes. It is so good I’m gaslighting myself into thinking this is what I actually watched for season 7 and 8.
It's kind of funny because I can just imigine all the free folk, who refuse to be ruled over by a monarch and call everyone who lives south of the wall standing there like: "Am I a joke to you".
If you think Danny isn’t evil, you actually were not watching/reading the show. Shes going to go crazy and be killed. Her ending is the ending of evil nobility.
I agree with you, Dani was definetly going on the wrong side on several moment before season 6 and could be quite cruel and evil. And the plot was always reminding us that through "she's the daughter of the mad king blabla", but that's what I didn't like in the end of season 8. Her going "crazy" is too fast and weird. Like, I get that she burns armies to the ground bc she's always doing that as she sees them as oppressors, but I don't understand the burning of Kings landing part. She never burnt citizens before, and now she's burning an entire city? I don't know, it doesn't seem logical. But to me the worst part is her killed by her lover, too much of a Greek tragedy to me. I would have like an ending were she realizes she's actually going mad and a dragon is far too dangerous, and decides either to kill herself, either to go back on the other continent to never be seen again 🤔
The Littlefinger twist around 1:28:00 is perfection, and Arya's ending actually made me cry. I'd like to imagine that Varys plan for Daenerys & Jon to fall in love actually happens, but not in the way the show did it, in the way this video did it.
The way ‘Chaos is Ladder’ came full circle and Petyr’s plans have turned on him was so incredible. He believed he had it all planned out but all he did was give the Night King more numbers.
Fellow writer here. This was sooooo much better than the disaster they created. I especially liked what you did with John’s character. Dani’s too. And… well, all of the main characters. It’s amazing what one can create if they merely understand and follow character motivation. A+.
This is just as garbage as the show ending it's a hot mess as the show ending you as a so called writer should find a better thing to do as a day job if you think this blabbering idiot is a good writer.
Duuuuude I had tears in my eyes for many of your pictures you painted in my head. Ending might be a bit too corny or perfect for me but it got to me, in the best way. You have a deep understanding and care for the characters. Loved listening to this!
I do often like these rewrite videos people do, but I have to admit this might be the first one that didn't have me cringing at any point. It doesn't feel like fanfic; It feels like competent writing.

Warg's making people mad by trying to change the past legit gave me chicken skin. It's such a creative twist to the plot that makes actual sense. And Bran creating Hodor and The Mad King is such good foreshadowing for this.
The most disappointing reveal in this show period was that the night king wanted to kill Bran in order to destroy Westrosi history. Absolutely ridiculous. This change gives him an actual motive that makes sense.
It was so stupid D&D didn’t even care because they didn’t put the magic element that George had in the books in the show they just put the dragons white walkers and bits and pieces of the big stuff and just call it quits because they were lazy and then took out important characters which caused them to combine them to the main characters
I like this ending simply because it doesn't give you the same old wheel of despair, but rather built's the road towards hope that had never been there.
The army of the fead swelling to several times its size because of the thousands upon thousands of people who died in the wars all across the series is so fitting to this universe and yet so simple. Amazed it wasnt done in the actual show.
George left after season 4 they went to him for help during the show and he told them key things that will happen such as bran being king , Hodors death and reveal , and princess shireens death
That's why there was a noticeable decline in the quality of the show after season 4. It just got surprisingly worse and worse each season after that. Which suggests that GRRM's behind the scenes work on the show (beyond writing the books) drove its success, which Dave and Dan took the credit for. They're not good writers or showrunners. @@ACinemafanatic
One thing about Aryas story: It relies heavily on her changing faces to people who are alive, but that's not how the magic of the Faceless Men has been shown. They cut the faces of the dead, and magically wear them as masks. It's not a huge leap, though, and would still fit with her story.
can (within the lore in the tv show) certainly play it like that's more of a limitation placed by the oaths/norms of the faceless men and their training, rather than a true law of the ability itself. By leaving and abandoning her morals as well as her oaths, Arya uses this power in a way that makes her incredibly strong and unrestrained, but eats away at her sense of self, stability, morality, and seduces her further from these things.
The Lannisters do have a lot of cousins so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for Arya to have killed a relative who looked like Jamie, especially in Cerci's weakened mental state.
Wow. You did something for me that I never thought possible, you brought me peace with the GOT series. Your ending is the one that I will remember from now on! I hope HBO hires you tomorrow!
I would love a scene where they realize that many sayings were seemingly warnings for future generations. Theon realizing that "What is dead may never die,but rises again, harder and stronger" was referring to wrights instead of the iron born. Dany realizing "fire and blood" is what will be needed to win the war.
I'm really not trying to be rude but to me that all seems so obvious it doesn't really need saying and if they did it would really feel like they were spoon feeding stuff to us? Some things are best left for the viewer to figure out themselves
Dude that Tyrion Jaime dialogue you wrote. God damn. That was chef's kiss. Tyrion essentially saying he was always better than Jaime, but Jaime was just born lucky would be one hell of a hammer blow for their relationship. "Did you ever think about where you'd run next, once you'd reached the top?" Dude you better be writing a book. Your dialogue is amazing.
You did so good with this, I used to be a huge Game of Thrones fan and was so disappointed with the ending. Your rework of it literally brought tears to my eyes three separate times, thank you for completing a beloved series of mine in such a wonderful way.
I have to admit, you had me smiling by the end. A proper ending to a fantasy series. Maybe the next generation messes everything up but this felt like a proper tying up of what got was reaching for with its lessons on what a ruler needs to succeed.
I agree, some say it's too happy but you could always mellow the happy by showing reminders of the characters we lost or by panning to some suspicious characters briefly to give the sense that everything is fine *for now*. But after all the hurt, there's something cathartic about the happy ending.
@angelaboesche i mean after after all pain and before maybe new trials of life it ought to be happy genuinely happy seeminely perfect periods , and this is it
This whole rewrite sounds like an excuse to have as many hilarious scenes of Peter Dinklage playing charades as possible over 2 and half seasons. I am fully here for it.
How on Earth did you craft an ending for Dany that was so infinitely better than what we got or what I've seen dozens of people theorize? Edit: haha thank you so much for adding my comment to the thumbnail
You have given me a gift, and I really appreciate you for it. Despite the extremely poor last seasons, GOT remained my favorite fictional story, with hopes that GRRM will eventually right the wrongs but even that began to seem like a distant reality, then you just fix it in 2h15m. It's so beautiful I don't even care if GRRM completes it or not anymore. The depth you applied to the characters, the way you completed their arcs, the reveals, the thrill, wow Thank you❤
Simply genius! I clicked on the video thinking, "i'll just watch a few minutes and see what's up"...two hours later and your rewrite has become my cannon. You sir are a hero, and this story is the one we deserved. Thank you
I got half an hour into this video. Stopped it. Came back the next day with a bowl of popcorn, cos I knew this was going to be good. How the fuck did you manage to excite me, have me on edge and cry at so many points in this video?! How did one person manage to achieve what the later seasons failed to do? There are so many things I could pinpoint. Like how Littlefinger’s death is pure perfection and I will now pull whatever mental gymnastics I need to convince myself this actually happened. But I really want to say the bit where Sansa sings to Theon had me bawling! How did you do that?! You described the scene and I cried so fucking hard.
This is genuinely phenomenal, the part about Tyrion losing his tongue in parallel to Jamie is amazing. The Varys and littlefinger ending is crazy good, and the happy ending is great. Wish this was canon
Each Lannister lost what was most important to them, Jamie - his hand, he was one of the greatest warrior, Cercei - her children, and Tyrion (In the books) his tongue as he was a talker/his ability to manipulate others
Really like this ending. I'd maybe tweak one or two parts but honestly, this is 10,000x better than what we got. Genuine character development, drama and fulfilment, with a more purposeful ending. Kudos, you wrote a great story.
*Fantastic re-write. Summary of my favourite moments:* 1. Jon actually playing the game of thrones in the north, not for his own self-serving agenda but to try and bring Daenerys to the negotiation table and help him in their fight against The Others. Both in his guerrilla campaign against the Dothraki and also his decision to fight the trial by combat but execute the traitor in question as well to placate both sides. 2. Baelish technically winning the game of thrones by playing his enemies against each other but seeing it all crumble due to an incorruptible force of nature that he helped strengthen. 3. Daenerys considering the Night King's own motivations and lack of a home, and seeing that within herself, eventually realising that she could never find what she truly wanted in King's Landing and deciding to destroy The Others at any cost. 4. Jon pulling Lightbringer out from his half-dead corpse forged through Dragonfire in the middle of a battle against The Others and reviving the population of KL to help fight. 5. Jaime and Tyrion realising that their greatest strength was never what truly defined them. 6. Arya's "you're the only one left" was just really sad ;( The only things I was not a huge fan of were the "Aegonist" Northern faction seeming to be an ex machina plot device that are just perfectly organised and posed to strike whenever the plot demands it (in both Winterfell and KL), completely unrelenting in their demands to force Jon on the throne and getting rid of Daenerys even if he didn't desire that. I also thought Littlefinger orchestrating Daenerys' murder of Jon Snow was just a bit too easily pulled off. But the payoff for it was really well done. I do however think that these concerns could be rectified by developing them thoroughly over seasons 7 and 8 - which it seems would have to happen.
Extremist political factions and groups are a thing and can be awesome for tv but definitely fleshing it out would be necessary. Do they have rapport with little finger? Do they have their own dislike of Dany beyond the basics? Do they ever relent beyond being forced to? These are people too they need to falter or dig in.
The Aegonists definitely should be better fleshed out if this was to be made for TV. Considering there's 2 whole seasons of plot stuffed into 2 hours, a lot has to be brushed over for time
I don't think Tyrion needs to be a Targaeryn for that to work. Viserys remembers him from back in Meereen, when both of the dragons were freed by Tyrion from imprisonment under the temple. Viserys deciding -- completely on his own -- to stop Dany would bring back what Tyrion said at that time: dragons are much smarter than they look. The vanilla show brought this back with Drogon burning the throne, your rewrite should bring it back in a way that actually serves the plot.
I'm thinking the same thing. Plus such a move would destroy the idea that the Targaryens and Valyrians are a people closer to gods than humans. No, they are not gods, and even andalish (the most common ethnicity in Westeros) Tyrion can create some form of bond with the dragon. In a way, Tyrion will continue Nettles' role from Fire and Blood, aka big "fuck you" to the Targaryens' ideas of exceptionalism and controlling dragons. And to fulfill the "three heads of the dragon" prophecy, you could just use Young Griff.
Having very deliberately not subjected myself to viewing S8, I have now completely accepted this as the true ending. Wraps it all up neatly and has such incredible character development that it almost makes me hope GRRM comes along and takes notes!
As soon as you said that Jon has to be significantly different after death, I was all in. I hate how the showrunners ignored the horror of resurrection that Dondarrion showed.
No it doesn’t. You guys only likes this because dany lives but this rewrite totally ignore the madness that was there back when she killed the slavers. People just refuse to acknowledge it because she was killing bad people but the madness was developing then. Yes I agree the last season was rushed and it could’ve benefited from at least one more season but people need to stop pretending that Danys madness came out of nowhere
@@hexmaniacciaran that’s not what I mean. Go back and watch it you can see the madness slowly showing itself. I think one more season would’ve done it better instead of the rush job we got in the last season but to say the madness wasn’t there is a lie.
@@godsfavhitman5814her 'just going mad' is an insult to her complex character. Good story telling is displaying a character's wants against their needs. That was one of the best things done in GOT when the writing was good. Every character was fighting for their wants whether it was for their honour or just doing the right thing which conflicted with their needs which kept them alive. For Danny, becoming the mad queen was neither a want or a need. It's a disappointment for the culmination of her character and the story as a whole. Doesn't matter if it was foreshadowed, it's still shit writing.
Damn. You know that feeling you get when you finish a really good book, and just sort of feel empty inside? That's exactly what I feel after watching this video. Everything was so satisfying, everything made sense, you used the characters in proper ways, and their actions made sense even if the actions they took weren't always the "right" choice. It really takes so much skill to write all of this in a coherent manner, to illustrate everything so well that it was of the utmost ease to picture everything like this happening in my head as you narrated. Varys got the last laugh and did his service to the realm by ending a chaotic power hungry monster
It's also very in character from what I remember. Vary always cared about the realm. Probably the only politician in the whole show that was arguably fighting for the people... even if he too wasn't even close to perfect, and was very 'ends justify the means' in his approach.

I got goosebumps the way you directed the way Jon reveals his identity, and finally joins the game of thrones. Crazy
@@ladylynx9657 oh absolutely!
It makes more sense for the twins to be targaryens
Yeah I actually don’t know if I like that or not talking was his entire life and without it idk it isn’t Tyrion

One minor suggestion: Danny’s new kingdom is named New Valyria
@@belleville1805
Well, it adds to the sad irony of Tywin's all-consuming desire for legacy & position; in the books, Jaime's conversation with GhostMom when he's tripping, as a result of his injury, I think (it's been a hot minute since I read them) kind of feels like it would naturally be pulled in that direction - she says what Tywin's always wanted (since the days when their family was thought weak, under his father):
For his house to be powerful & feared, for Jaime to be a great knight, & for Cersei to be queen- Jaime says all of that has happened, but Joanna just gives this heart-breaking smile; she knows that _despite_ getting what they wanted, they are essentially ruined, because of everything that's happened to achieve all of it - House Lannister *is* powerful & feared, *_but_* also hated & despised: despite Tywin's work to distance himself from Elia & the kids' deaths & blame it all on Lorch & the Mountain - despite distancing himself from the Red Wedding, letting the Freys & Boltons take the dubious 'honour' - no one's fooled: neither the individuals, nor the houses' lords would have taken those actions without his say-so.

Glad to see someone giving Littlefinger and Varys the respect they deserve.
Brilliant story, but I think the ending was "too peaceful" or "too nice-and-good" for Game of Thrones
Kinda agree, but somehow it makes the utopian ending much more satisfying. After all the grim and pessimistic story, we finally see some light and peace. At least for a time.
and also winter came so what's with all the sunshine and bird songs in the new utopian lands of john and dany while they should all be cold and starving by now
@@svetlanakosenkova1363I think the whole “white walkers was the cause behind the bad winters” thing explains this
I know that the biggest point of the saga is that simplistic "Good and bad" ideals aren't really how things actually play out, but it is for that same reason that I think a good and peaceful ending is what the story actually deserves.
It is so good I’m gaslighting myself into thinking this is what I actually watched for season 7 and 8.
and part of 6
It's kind of funny because I can just imigine all the free folk, who refuse to be ruled over by a monarch and call everyone who lives south of the wall standing there like: "Am I a joke to you".
@@Sleeepyboyouthere this alternate ending actually touches on Dany’s mad queen potential and resolve it neatly.
I absolutely knew you were about to say “A song of ice and fire” still gave me the chills when the words came out though…
Honestly, the bar is pretty low for fanfics to be better
Jon* Dany*
I believe you mean S+ ;)
This is just as garbage as the show ending it's a hot mess as the show ending you as a so called writer should find a better thing to do as a day job if you think this blabbering idiot is a good writer.
That Varys and Littlefinger scene gave me goosebumps. Would have been one of the best moments in game of thrones. Such an incredible rewrite.

Something the show clearly lacked
Yeah it’s very impressive especially with how well the first seasons were written. He even got the dialogue between characters right.
ending was a bit cringe, specifically Jon not killing Dany.
@@kryzzan7039 Theon having a child that shows up just in time was a little cringe as well
Every time he gives direct quotes of what the characters say, I imagine their faces and I can practically hear their voices saying it. So well done!
“His home is gone.” Tying the Night’s King to Danny’s back story is fucking beautiful. (1:41:25)
It rhymes. Like, a song, of ice AND fire.
Right? Imagine the stories a writer can tell when they *don't* think themes are just for book reports.
made me so sad as i started to catch on :(
"together we are the game of thrones" ahh ending
Warg's making people mad by trying to change the past legit gave me chicken skin. It's such a creative twist to the plot that makes actual sense. And Bran creating Hodor and The Mad King is such good foreshadowing for this.
The most disappointing reveal in this show period was that the night king wanted to kill Bran in order to destroy Westrosi history. Absolutely ridiculous. This change gives him an actual motive that makes sense.
Yeah. Without context it feels nonsenical (if it even has an explanation in the books), and like a "deus-ex-machina". Mega cringe.
It was so stupid D&D didn’t even care because they didn’t put the magic element that George had in the books in the show they just put the dragons white walkers and bits and pieces of the big stuff and just call it quits because they were lazy and then took out important characters which caused them to combine them to the main characters
I like this ending simply because it doesn't give you the same old wheel of despair,
but rather built's the road towards hope that had never been there.
Hope is a much better way to end. Gives the possibility of another series.
HAH! Summer children...
@@jmeds94they don’t know what winter really means, unlucky
Yeah, we have Attack on Titan for that hahaha
The army of the fead swelling to several times its size because of the thousands upon thousands of people who died in the wars all across the series is so fitting to this universe and yet so simple. Amazed it wasnt done in the actual show.
Dan and Dave should be ashamed, even with the guidance of GRRM they ruined the last season. What a brilliant ending. Smashed it
George left after season 4 they went to him for help during the show and he told them key things that will happen such as bran being king , Hodors death and reveal , and princess shireens death
One thing about Aryas story:
It relies heavily on her changing faces to people who are alive, but that's not how the magic of the Faceless Men has been shown.
They cut the faces of the dead, and magically wear them as masks.
It's not a huge leap, though, and would still fit with her story.
^
Yeah she cant really wear jaime’s face if he’s still wearing it
can (within the lore in the tv show) certainly play it like that's more of a limitation placed by the oaths/norms of the faceless men and their training, rather than a true law of the ability itself. By leaving and abandoning her morals as well as her oaths, Arya uses this power in a way that makes her incredibly strong and unrestrained, but eats away at her sense of self, stability, morality, and seduces her further from these things.
In the House of Black and White, the man who may not be Jaqen H'gar wears Arya's face while she is alive. Maybe she has to reach that level.
The Lannisters do have a lot of cousins so it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibility for Arya to have killed a relative who looked like Jamie, especially in Cerci's weakened mental state.
You won me over at brutal Jon Snow! Beating on Theon and daggling him off the wall remind me of the moments that made the first seasons so impactful.
Tyrion ending up as a city engineer makes a lot of sense, considering he devised the sewers for Casterly Rock when he was much younger
"Did you ever think about where you'd run next, once you'd reached the top?"
Dude you better be writing a book.
Me too. Smiles ❤
Yooo you're on the thumbnail

My mind is blown! This content creator is phenomenal!
And Tywin, his house (Family and casterly rock)
Isnt tyrions great strength his mind? In that case, he should have been lobotimised
Please send this to HBO. This is the ending we deserve.
Really like this ending. I'd maybe tweak one or two parts but honestly, this is 10,000x better than what we got. Genuine character development, drama and fulfilment, with a more purposeful ending. Kudos, you wrote a great story.
which parts?
Most importantly, it doesn't put a hold on the politics and the plotting and the scheming in favor of a cliché battle between good and evil.
*Fantastic re-write. Summary of my favourite moments:*
6. Arya's "you're the only one left" was just really sad ;(
The only things I was not a huge fan of were the "Aegonist" Northern faction seeming to be an ex machina plot device that are just perfectly organised and posed to strike whenever the plot demands it (in both Winterfell and KL), completely unrelenting in their demands to force Jon on the throne and getting rid of Daenerys even if he didn't desire that.
Idk about the aegonist, but having a extremist political group is a good spice. Kinda like Jaegerist from AoT
Considering there's 2 whole seasons of plot stuffed into 2 hours, a lot has to be brushed over for time
chaos is a ladder, waiting to fall
I don't think Tyrion needs to be a Targaeryn for that to work. Viserys remembers him from back in Meereen, when both of the dragons were freed by Tyrion from imprisonment under the temple. Viserys deciding -- completely on his own -- to stop Dany would bring back what Tyrion said at that time: dragons are much smarter than they look. The vanilla show brought this back with Drogon burning the throne, your rewrite should bring it back in a way that actually serves the plot.
Dragon could burn the throne when Jon is being brought back to life from under the rubble, too
I'm thinking the same thing.
It's nice to think that, maybe, in another universe, this was the ending we got.
Having very deliberately not subjected myself to viewing S8, I have now completely accepted this as the true ending. Wraps it all up neatly and has such incredible character development that it almost makes me hope GRRM comes along and takes notes!
I applaud your effort to avoid it. Soul-crushing affair. I hope GRRM sees this as well!
Saaame
As soon as you said that Jon has to be significantly different after death, I was all in. I hate how the showrunners ignored the horror of resurrection that Dondarrion showed.
guy honeslty should have woken up and gone on a pure killing spree.
No one ever has made me watch a 2 hour GoT video. This is a masterpiece and 100% a better ending than we got.
You made me cry. Multiple times. This is my new head canon.
I love this especially how Dany burning down Kings Landing makes sense now. It isn't futile or selfish. It matches her character arc so perfectly.
@@godsfavhitman5814 killing slavers isn't madness, it's the morally correct choice
Much better reason.
I really started to cry when you said : "to fight the army of the dead he resurrected his own army ruin from the ruins"
This is so good. I'll watch this over and over as it's the only true ending to the story.
You did an excellent job with this, and in the extremely rare case that you don't already feel proud of yourself after the great reception of this video, then hopefully my comment is enough to push you there. This was an incredible piece and you are an incredible person.
