Yeah. He looks so traumatized when the storm trooper died on his arms on his first appearance that I thought it would be an interesting character arc revolving around perspective of war (kinda like what the video explores). Too bad they did him dirty

“This is like fanfiction. But making the movie just better in general” I literally only clicked onto this video bc I had to say that that’s what a “fix-it-fic” is called.
Exactly. Its fucking 2023 guys. Are we still playing the "NO, my thing-that-is-derived-from-an-existing-creative-property can't be _fanfiction._ That would make me a _loser._ " game? People really have no idea what fanfic - the GOOD shit - can be.
I don't think it was anti fanfic in fact the opposite. It was saying I'm not doing enough for this to be fanfic because I'm just fixing the movie not writing my own stuff.
@@primroseprom I'm well aware. I'm not saying I agree. I'm just saying the statement wasn't anti fic. It sounded like he didn't see his work at the level of what he considers fanfiction.

@@mattgolka6266 also he has been shown to be unstable so it's not like the strom troopers will comment on it. "The emperor has no clothes" sorta thing.
I still think it's a poor reason for him to kill the other students and Luke. Overall, I like it a lot, but I think if it were subject to adaptation, it would have to go through a lot of revision.
@@jairiske Maybe have Snokes “choice” be an empty promise. Snoke brings Kylo to the dark and then Snoke pries information about the Jedi Temple and Order out of Kylo and eventually destroys the Order himself. Then Kylo is mad since he didn’t actually want the Jedi Order to be destroyed as he still cared about them to a degree. This leads to him becoming more dark and powerful and this was Snokes plan.
Also it fits as a reference to the prequels because one of the biggest moral issues of the original Jedi was basically regular kidnappings for their recruitment.
I always thought it would have been better if he had fallen because of entitlement. He was taught from birth that being a Skywalker made him the main character of the universe and that everyone will make concessions for him because of what he is. He's so fascinated by Darth Vader because Vader is proof that a Skywalker can do whatever he wants and still be forgiven in the end. The mask and the name change could have been something forced on him by Snoke as part of the traditional Sith training method of taking away whatever the apprentice cares about most (in this case, his family name and a face that people recognize and defer to.) That would make him a living critique of Rey, who also defines herself entirely by what she is rather than what she does.
So what you are saying is that the improved ST has more meme potential? Considering the lack of memes from the actual movies and the straight up better plot (that with the exception of character personality and lore changes works with what we got as a basis) I’m fairly certain that this was the trilogy in a likely far better then our own alternate universe. But then again that universe might not have Mando so...
What I love about this: -Finn and Rey taking divergent paths. Rey is the naturally gifted one who feels she doesn't need training so she's unfocused while Finn doesn't have her knack for it but is far more disciplined so he becomes a Jedi first. -On top of that, they sort of diverge on the paths of the Jedi, almost becoming the old video game split between Jedi Consular and Jedi Guardian. Rey the one with more raw power in the Force but not as impressive fighting techniques while Finn becoming the more physical, lightsaber duelist but with a weaker connection to the Force. At least at first for both of them. -Finn being more reluctant to kill and having more visible sympathy for the Stormtroopers. Really makes him stand out as a character and makes him an even better candidate to be a Jedi. -That Force Plague thing is a BRILLIANT way to head off the "Rey's a Mary Sue" bullshit by basically saying that she totally is but justifying how wrong and out of place it feels in-universe. That's devious! -This version of Rose is so much more likable. And I didn't even hate her to start, but making her a kind of cool near human cyborg who's all book smarts but little practical experience who becomes an officer is a brilliant re-working of the character. -Luke being dead . . . that just solves SO MUCH! (And again, I didn't hate his self-imposed exile as it was.) -Phasma's "I fight for the strongest" mentality lends a lot of depth to her character and her redemption is almost as cool as Ben's. -Kaminoan Snoke. Oh, that is so good. It's a great way to tie the entire franchise together instead of the new movies pretending the prequels didn't exist. Overall, Snoke is a much-improved version where he's kind of like Sidious but not exactly. Simply willing to martyr himself for his belief already makes him a far different antagonist. -Giant Snoke final boss. I was so disappointed to find out he wasn't as big as advertised and the idea of fighting a giant with a lightsaber could lead to so many possibilities. . . . Yeah, this was pretty much exactly what I wanted from the new trilogy.
For the second paragraph, when you said Finn being the more physical, lightsaber duelist but with a weaker connection to the force. I couldn't help but think of Finn being some sort of Black Obi-wan, due to Obi-Wan not being as adept with the force as most Jedi yet it was his other qualities that made him a powerful Jedi.
"I come from a matched set of millions, but I'm still here... aren't I" is such a great line and would have been an amazing piece of characterization for Finn in the actual trilogy. He doesn't care about his upbringing, he just cares about being better and making his own decisions
Maybe we can all pitch in? I have never led a project (and I can't with how poor my internet connection is) but I am willing to contribute in any way to those who are reading this. I can animate and/or make music.
Would’ve loved to see Finn as a turned storm trooper who was still very deadly and tactical minded, but slowly sheds those attributes through the the trilogy. Like yes, he turns after not obeying orders in TFA, but he still keeps his hardened exterior until he learns to relax and have a good time with his friends. You could’ve had a lot of content with Finn if they kept his character grounded in that reality. How he doesn’t quite mesh with the civilian world but he’s trying to cope with not being in a strict regime anymore. He slowly relaxes and makes jokes, but still retains his ability to snap into action like he was trained. He would not be a bumbling idiot. Just simple things like that could’ve given him depth and uniqueness
That's exactly what I thought we would have as soon as I saw him take off his helmet in the trailer. Instead, they wrote him like he never received any combat training at all. I think he drops his firearm three times in _The Force Awakens_, and each time he needs it a few moments later. I'm not a soldier, I won't pretend to know what it's like to be one. However, I do know that boot camp has a lot of drills on weapon maintenance, probably to instill in the recruit a sense of care around the weapon. To use a Star Wars quote: This weapon is your life.
A perfect character to reflect the ww2 theming of Star Wars, covering the effect warfare has on people who participate in the regimes, or even more specifically how the Wehrmacht soldiers had to deal with knowing their entire worldview crumbled in front of them, and their horrific acts made obvious. If the first movie was set as to show the rise of the first order (not just a 5 min scene of blowing up the new republic) then we could see Finn break away and have to deal with the acts the first order we’re doing to enslave worlds
MikeydactylGaming, exactly! And that would show how she's grown. She's no longer desperate to belong to something larger than herself (like a family) but is instead happy to discover who Rey can now become.
Already liked this comment. But I needed a way to double like it. So..... I present all the thumbs up. I am a huge fan of characters that act cocky and cheeky but are still humble and good natured
Rey thinking she's Luke's daughter is *such* a good change. And her actively chasing her family is a great change! This is more realistic as adopted children even those who get adopted by great families can still feel that curiosity and pull towards seeing why their origional families gave them up
The best way to go would have been having Mara Jade, Luke wife in the Legends comic, make an appearance, and if Luke left her for the Jedi life, it could be revealed that Mara Jade is actually Palpatine daughter making Rey Lukes long lost daughter.
Damn -Finn isn’t only a character, he’s the character that has some authority, AND is the one to change other characters. I LOVE that. And how Rey becomes this anti-hero character, too. You got my vote
It will always frustrate me how so many genuine fans can write better plots *IN THEIR SPARE TIME* than the people who are paid *MILLIONS* for this shit.
Ever hear the phrase "hindsight is 20/20"? That's what's happening here. It's a lot easier to take an existing piece of media and make it better than to make an entirely new piece of media from scratch.
Dude this is what Finn should have been man. I always thought that Finn should have been a Jedi because him having been a storm trooper is such an interesting origin for a Jedi! But because I'm black, whenever I said this to anybody they just assumed I wanted a black Jedi, and not that like, you know, I want a better story lol
@Rtkts That's interesting cause I think it's the exact opposite. I feel like you still get that anyone can right their wrongs story with Finn, considering he's been a storm trooper since he was stolen as a child. He's for sure committed attrocities across the galaxy while being under the First Order. So the force could be a path to redemption for him. And in a film like star wars, shouldn't the ability to use the force not make or break a character? Half the people in the series are force sensitive, but that's usually not what fans like about the character. Most people I talk to thought that Rey was super boring and uninteresting, despite her being a force user, only finding interest in her backstory and origin. Finn has a great backstory, with moderate charisma when he's not just screaming "REY" at the top of his lungs lol. I think him being force sensitive can only enhance his character based on his past. Also I'm not like, saying you're wrong or that your opinion is unfounded, I'm just sharing my thoughts 🎷
@stockart whiteman While I agree with you, the scene with Finn on Takodana was so ruefully EPIC. it showed us what could've been. Finn being a jedi, or maybe Finn being a warrior with a lightsaber (my favorite lightsaber), withOUT the force, would both be cool, and obviously better. Finn being the second black jedi wouldve been a major point, and a stepping stone for more mature (as in, more developed, empathy wise). Rey could've been another jedi, or more of a wondering jedi, not by any code, while Finn is a true jedi or a warrior without the force
You either get an interesting diversity card from Disney or an interesting feminism card from Disney. In this case we got a main character with no soul, and finn and Ben having SO MUCH potential but they're ruined by bad writing and a horrible story. I thought fin was way more interesting.
I think anyone that can admit this Trilogy is flawed (unlike those simping for this Trilogy, and calling anyone who disagreed a racist/misogynist/whatever) flawed but had potentially recognizes that Finn A) was the character with the most wasted potential, and by extension the most disappointing and B) should have had an arc involving the Force and at least been put on the path to becoming a Jedi. Now this video has him opposing Rey, which is fine....but I think it would have worked with Rey not going fully to the Dark side, but just being more tempted by Kylo and Finn taking a more traditional light side path, which inspires Rey to come back and they team up or something
Last Jedi: Anyone can be a powerful Jedi Rise of Skywalker: Only the descendants of force-users be powerful jedi Also Rise of Skywalker: But you still gotta call yourself a Skywalker

@@JakeSmith-mq5dc honestly a force plague is actually a unique method to create a dark side mind trick variant because it requires strong emotions to function and it might be forgotten like how sith lightning was forgotten to have a Jedi variant in universe
God I'm a sucker for consistent themes telling an overarching message/moral lesson that ties up so much of what everyone has been up to in different ways
One of the biggest problems with TLJ is that Rian intentionally wrote it to undermine the entire good vs. evil narrative present in all the other Star Wars movies (he admitted to this). It destroyed the cohesion between all the films and made the previous ones seems pointless, which is one of the worst things you can do as a writer. I’m all for moral complexity in a universe that’s literally black and white, but not in a way that craps on the overarching message.
Holy Crap. That twist with Rey genuinely gave me the chills, and I'm usually the type of person who HATES extreme twists in movies! IT would make tons of sense, and totally sounds like something that could happen with the force.
@@cyberninjazero5659 Yeah, which actually makes me LOVE that twist, I realized what it was (The fact she established a connection and got the person to obey when they reasonably shouldn't) means she's got what the Exile did.
And that would be fan service to those that played Kotor 2 while also being a cool "new" power for the normies just watching the movie without insulting their intelligence.
Yeah seeing Finn just being chill about thinks when the situation is tense was pretty great. Phasma: “I’m stronger than you and I’ll kill you” Finn: “Alright, that’s ok”
The concept of Zen Finn does sound cool, but I just wanted to say I hate that everyone keep saying all he does is yell "Rey". He did it once in the first movie and I think twice in the last one. In those cases she was in danger and he was calling out for her so it made sense. Then again because the sequel trilogy really dropped the ball with his character after TFA that's all people remember him for and that's a shame.
@Alex Fiet I meant yelling her name when in danger. Not mentioning and or referring to her. This is a two minute compilation. Finn had way more screen time than that. And I mean his laser focus makes sense when you consider what's happening in those scenes and their friendship. I just think it sucks that because Finn got the short end of the stick in the last two films this is all anyone takes away from his character. I guess that was my main point. He does more than just that but this is all anyone remembers.
Rey being an anomaly (but not the Dyad in the Force bullshit, a straight up, horrifying anomaly with powers nobody should have) is great, Finn being rewriten to show actual empathy towards the troopers and being the real Last Jedi is amazing (and boy, you managed to make Rose relevant AND to make her sacrifice actually meaniningful, I'm impressed) but Luke being a Force Ghost the whole time is freaking perfect. It makes so much more sense.
Absolutely agreed! His script is fantastic. Especially comparing to what we actually have. Now my soul has found peace as this puts everything in its places and I consider this rewriting my personal canon.
Not to mention having Luke already be dead would leave the fans dying to know how he... well... died. Nothing like spin-off series satiate Disney's sales fix.
@@zubbworks oh for sure, I'm just not super well versed in a lot of expanded universe stuff aside from the TV shows, so it's a new idea to me. It sounded cool
I dunno, even being a force plague is still better than being no one in some way. Rey wants desperately to belong somewhere so I her being no one is the best fit. Even as a force plague she still gets to have a loving family that gave her up for a good reason.
@@bogustoast22none25 kotor 2 the exile has a similar ability where they influence those around them without realizing and siphoning power from those bonds that were made. Slight differences here but im assuming thats where the inspiration came from. If kotor 2 is ever made canon, it makes reys force plague even more credible since there is already precedent in the universe
Okay, here's a quick question: If Rey being a force plague makes everyone love her, why was she kicked out of the city? If you don't have an answer, here's how I think it would work: The force plague effects aren't permanent. If she stays with a person for long enough, it wears off, and that person has an opinion of her based on their own thoughts. My evidence for this is the alien salesman from the first movie. IIRC, he said "Your charms don't work on me anymore," implying they once did, but stopped. So what happened with Rey's rich adoptive parents was they were disgusted by her at first, and then her force plague abilities made them love her, but after a while, it wore off, and they were disgusted by her again, even moreso than before since she manipulated them and got everything dirty, so they, like Ben said, threw her out like trash. There's another level to this: Since the other characters still like her after the time the force plague effects would ware off, it proves that she is capable of making people genuinely like her without the force, and she's not just a manipulator.
That's a good idea, the fun thing about the force is you can use it to cover pretty much any plot hole. I have a few ideas on how that would work: -Rey was just inexperienced and conflicted so the power wouldn't work forever -Rey had some of the dark side in her the whole time, so her force connection to them would eventually give some of the dark side to them and make them hate her, which would explain why her parents stopped loving her even though they raised her and they should've grown to love her anyway -Everyone has the force in them, so over time the force in them would try and resist the pull. But if she only has the light side or whatever was similar to them then the person would reach back at her in the same way. This would explain why her and Kylo had a connection (they were both conflicted) and why Kylo wanted to stay and rule with her without knowing her at all, and why Rey in turn wanted the same
I think they already explained it in the video that someone force sensitive enough eventually showed up and just called them out on it, causing everyone to realize they've been duped There is still weight behind it working that way, because even after Finn gains resistance and Kylo just resists it outright, they still believe in Rey and she has genuine friendships
Noel Tollebäck to be honest I find the mystery about yoda stupid too. Like does he not remember anything from his childhood? Why is nothing known about yodas
I like the idea of Rey having a more force-heavy fighting style, with Kylo’s being more brutal. What if Rey had a technique where she made a lightsaber float and fight on its own alongside her, like Kylo Ren’s sword?
This is an actual style of lightsaber fighting, it was mostly used by a jedi of the same race as Yoda, he also used a saber that the blade was basically invisible, its crazy, look it up

That and maybe have the shields fail due to BB-8 or Rose doing shenanigans to explain the light speed ramming doesn't work because shields allow the jump to hyperspace to not interact with the jumping ship in transition. That fixes the universe breaking move (while visual masturbation [I despise Last Jedi]) that makes every previous space battle be begged the question.
You know, while you were going over everything, I just imagined Finn wearing a white and black colored Clone Wars era Jedi armor that’s reminiscent of a Storm Trooper.
2 changes I'd make: Finn has a white saber, canonically they are kyber crystals that were purified from the dark side, metaphor for him turning Ben and Rey to the light. Rose is not force sensitive but has a yellow saber once used by Temple Guards, since she is the closest thing to one so Rose teaches Finn additional/advanced forms of saber combat that she had stored in from Cin Drallig's notes (nice little name drop)
I’d also like to make a change. I would like to make Poe and Chewbacca go on a separate mission in hopes of finding Lando. Finding Lando is how they learn about Snoke having clones and how to defeat them. They then go to find Finn, Rey, and Kylo to warn them. I hope that they gun the Giant version of Snoke down in the final battle in the Falcon but idk. I also hope to see more scenes with BB8.
the "Force Plague" idea you're talking about is actually a concept that exists in Star wars already. but the concept's actual name is "Wound in the force". basically, like a black hole in the force, wherein a place or individual influences the minds of others they interact with much in the way you suggested. a wound in the force draws everything to it, and it grows stronger with the force energy it leeches/absorbs from those around it. basically like how gravity is stronger around a black hole, a person who is a wound in the force can seem very powerful in the force in a similar way. the force around them grows stronger because they act like a singularity, and are able to influence it and control it. people are drawn to them, and their actions are influenced by them. etc i do like the idea of Rey being such a person who is an anomaly like this. but these types of anomalies are born out of extreme circumstances where a LOT of life dies very suddenly. massive tragedies and such. the main example of a walking Wound in the Force in Star wars was born out of the destruction of an entire planet.

The camera shifts and we see Luke standing in the doorway, at first with a slightly angry face but then it softens. Finn is startled but then realized what Luke said. “Darth Vader was your father?!” Finn says, a little scared. Luke nods. “He was one of the best Jedi of his time. But then he was corrupted by the Emperor. He became the most feared person in the galaxy.” “But you turned him back! You saw that there was light in him and you turned him back to the light side.” “There was no light in Ben. The night that he killed my students and destroyed the temple, I saw pure, raw hatred unlike what I had ever seen. And I created it. I was the one that allowed it to happen and I will not let that happen again!” He force pulls Vader’s saber to himself and storms off. "Why does that have to be a named character?" This is Star Wars. *Everyone* is a named character. That lizard thing from Empire Strikes Back? Named character. The droid that blows up when Luke and his uncle buy R2? Named character. That one stormtrooper who says "Look sir, droids!" in the first movie? Named character. It's pointless and dumb, but it's just what Star Wars is.
For those of you who think this is fake or something, look up Leeland Chi. He can literally name and place the backstory of just about every background character. I will say I personally enjoy it, though.
Yeah it's part of the fun. Looking up who these obscure characters are and figuring out their intricate backstories is great, really makes the universe feel alive.
I didn’t like the fact that multiple clones of Snoke showed up at the same time, but other than that, this is masterful. I think you accomplished your goal. Also, that tiny gripe could probably be fixed just by making them all visually distinct. Extra limbs, extra noses, different heights or stances, whatever. Absolutely bang-up job, sir!
The cloning area was already shown producing imperfect clones, and Snoke having a nose and fucked up body would lean into that. I'd assume his real body, the giant, probably looks closer to an actual Kaminoan
I thought the final battle seemed bad? Like 3 people against a group of knights and clones? Seems really chaotic. I think they should beat the knights and then they each have to fight a clone. I think this scene should happen at the same time as Phasma killing Snoke and finishing her arc. THEN after they kill the clones AND the knights, there will be a real version of snoke that they each have to fight. I like the idea of them fighting each other while this is happening, but it seems chaotic.

I think that having the junk trader be the same species as watto could be a good idea because that could be a good way to explain why her “charms” won’t work on him just like how the Jedi mind trick qui-gon used didn’t work on watto
Watto's resistance to the Force wasn't a unique thing. The more different a person's mind is from the one influencing them, the harder it is to do. That's why Geonosians were considered effectively immune to mind tricks. This was also a learnable skill, as seen with Cad Bane requiring 3 Jedi (and quite a bit of mental anguish) to crack. I'm not saying he couldn't be a Toydarian, but it wouldn't be a requirement.
THIS IS SO GOOD i got so excited over this i wanted to throw in something: maybe instead of flashbacks directly telling the viewer what kylo means when he says rey's a force plague, there could be a certain motif that's played every time she uses the force to influence others; not anything significant, just a few distinctive notes that stand out against the rest of the soundtrack. That way, when kylo does the Big Reveal, the notes could play in a fleshed out, more cohesive theme as the answers to rey's questions are revealed through sound instead of being directly spoon-fed to the audience. But that's just my two cents- what you've done is beyond anything I could imagine!!! this is crazy. kudos x30000 to you

Honestly sound cues turning into a full on song is really cool to me, like a song that purposefully feels incomplete so it can have things added (like say there's this song in a game, it feels sorta empty, not done. But as you progress it slowly becomes more and more complete. Or two characters having a song associated with them and they clash and those songs come together like 2 halves of 1 whole) to make it feel complete is honestly really cool to me.

Palpatine was strong because he learned the dark side of the force for years. But this wasn't transfered from lineage. If Rey had been revealed to be a Skywalker, I MIGHTVE been all for it. But I would've wanted character development for her. I wanted to see Rey trying to learn things, not just for the force, but for learning how to fight for others, learning how to help others, learning how to BE a "good guy". I wish Luke wouldv'e actually trained her to fight, not how she just destroys Kylo in a makeshift fight with a weapon she's never seen before. I also wish Lucasfilm hadn't made it that everyone needed her. I mean yeah, make her the main hero, but don't make her the ONLY hero who can do things. I love the way this went, with Finn getting Anakin's saber (Which I always loved) and Rey journeys to get her own saber. Finn becoming a jedi would be so amazing.
Oh my god, this is perfect, this made me so happy. Finn having an actual character arc, being useful to the story, making his stormtrooper background a part of his character, and overall utilizing his potential? Yes. Beautiful. Making Rey just as useful, while actually making her a likable character, and actually using her to introduce something NEW to the Star Wars universe? Along with that, it actually makes SENSE? Yes. Wonderful. Also making Kylo a likable human being, whose redemption actually makes sense? Whilst making his relationship with Rey fun and interesting? IMMACULATE. MWAH. AND, on top of that, making Rose Tico useful and actually a cool character?? Making Captain Phasma have a point in the story?? Making Snoke an actual threat?? Keeping Kylo, Rey and Finn alive? It’s what they deserve!! AHHHH
The whole Finn always letting go exactly when Rey asks him to made me think that Finn was a stormtrooper for so long that he’s too used to following direct orders but the force plague works just as well
@@coreyander286 Disney is absolutely not woke. They are "fake woke" like jk Rowling or your average wine mom. Not that it matters because most "woke" people hate black men too. Why do you think they never complain about prison rates or the war on drugs? They want victims, and black men don't read as victimized
To be honest with you, I was a little skeptical of the whole 'Force Plague' name initially, but the entire explanation of Rey being an abomination who influences people around her from a maddening fear of abandonement and her entire quest for her parents is her essentially repressing the memories she has of subconsciously using this ability is actually good as an idea. Aside from deepening her backstory and character as well as not relying on Mary Sue tactics to empower her, suggest a solution for her strength and then explain it all away as "her parents/grandparents are important" this also showcases the darker side of Force Suggestion, an ability that can be used to avoid conflict the way Obi-Wan uses it in A New Hope (and Luke in Return of The Jedi if the rumor that he's mindtricking the gamorreans to think they're being choked is true) but it can also be used for some horrifying mental manipulation and showcasing Rey as this broken, twisted individual once she learns of her true ability, dreading that she'll be abandoned again and thus joining Kylo is a nice touch.
@@darklord884 Yeah. In KOTOR II, Kreia mentions that the Exile subtly influenced their companions when they shouldn't have been able to, like convincing a Sith apprentice to turn on her master and join them.
With Leia flying out of the ship, my friend actually suggested a pretty interesting idea which would be that Kylo was the one who used the force on her to bring her back into the ship rather than her doing it. I think it would be an interesting bit of character development for him, especially if he keeps the fact that he did that under his hat for a while.
Honestly, I have never really understood all the hate behind the Leia using the Force to fly scene. I mean, I'd understand if people had issues with the editing of the scene but there are some people who think that Leia using the Force is heresy itself. And I find that to being really ridiculous and retarded really. I mean, the idea of Leia using the Force makes perfect sense when you stop to think about it for a second. Leia is the daughter of Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader and the twin sister of Luke Skywalker, both of whom are Chosen Ones of the Force. With such a direct lineage of Force users behind her, of course it would make perfect sense that Leia would be able to use the Force just like her father and brother. Even if she only unlocked her Force powers after the Original Trilogy, she still had 30 years to train and hone her Force powers. So that strikes down complaints of Leia's Force usage in TLJ being "too OP and not having build up to". Besides, it's not Like would've been a master of every aspect of the Force. It's very probable that Leia was also one of the teachers at Luke's New Jedi Academy, teaching the aspects of the Force that she was more skilled at than Luke was.
Ajith Thomas the scene looks odd which I think is the problem most have with it. Also I think it’s better if she isn’t force sensitive, it isn’t always passed on. Satele Shan and Jace Malcolm gave us Theron Shan, a normal human despite her powerful lineage. Also Revan and Bastilla’s child wasn’t force sensitive.
@@xenon8117 Well, WHY is it better that Leia not be Force sensitive? You've given us example of characters born from powerful Force linages who couldn't use the Force. But you haven't given us a reason why it would've been better if Leia wasn't Force sensitive. She has a more than likely possibility. And it's not like her having Force powers breaks some cardinal rule.
Ajith Thomas i’m not saying it’s really better I just don’t think it’s really giving her anything. She was brilliant as a leader and took personal risks along with her people, she never needed the force. It’s just makes too many of the important characters force users for my liking really. It’s almost as if you need to the force to be important when you don’t. I think giving her it took that away a little and also I like that above idea of Kylo saving her, it would have added to both of them.
I like how this rewrite didn’t really CHANGE the sequels but just took a different approach on generally the same plot, which almost frustrates me because it just shows that the plot was there and in good taste and makes me wish even more that I could see the sequel story executed correctly
The singular fact that she didn't just get force powers out of nowhere with no precedent at ALL removes a large chunk of the 'Mary sue' vibe I got from her.
Just dope, loved everything about this. Finn upgrade to an actual significant interesting hero, Rey having a legit dark side turn, reconnect to the Prequels (since this is a saga finisher) and just greatness all around. Thank you.
Here's an idea about the whole force plague thing; it's not something out of her control, she just doesn't realize when she is doing it. When she suddenly became connected to the force, she might have at that time consciously decided to use it to convince those upper class people to take her in, then used it many times later to the point where now she doesn't think about it because she sees it as the way to convince people of things. For example, in the Deus Ex games, there's the upgrade that lets you see how convinced people are to say or do things, and it gets to the point where if it comes up, you might not even realize that you the player are using it (like the force plague) to convince people to do things they might otherwise not do, even if you aren't using the new dialogue options it gives you. It becomes second nature for whenever you have the option to use it, so you have to make the conscious decision not to
At Which point the moment she is made aware of it's existence (like when Unique mentions it here with Kylo and his realization and comment of what's happening when she fights him) She starts to actively practice that ability, with help from Kylo Ren of course.
The best part is that the "Force Plague" thing actually exists in legends, it's called a "Wound in the force". Not only that, but this could potentially lead to the KOTOR games being re-canonized. The only issue would be how Rey became a wound, because they are created by a very large amount of people in one area all dying almost simultaneously. The only 2 known walking wounds in the force survived the destruction of an entire planet.
This was amazing. I’m speechless, I really wish this was canon. You Made Rey a actual character, and not a wannabe idol. You mad Finn a actual character. And you made the Sequels, all the more better. I no longer see the “Disney Sequels”, this is now canon to me.
Eh, while I think this version is far far better than the real one, the main problem still rings true here- maybe even worse. That's the fact that these 3 movies don't matter at all in the saga. They don't have any reason to exist and be called sequels to the previous 6 movies. I think the only way to make this version of the sequel trilogy work is to brand it as a spin-off trilogy set in the future rather than a direct sequel to 6.
I loved this so much. The only thing I would have changed was giving Poe more screen time but that's just because Poe is my comfort character and I love Oscar Isaac.
13:20 That is *brilliant.* Finn is lacking in motivation for basically all three films, so seeking to redeem his fellow victimized Stormtroopers would be an excellent thrust. Also, having Rey leave Jakku *trying* to find her parents instead of just (passively) getting pulled along by the flow of events makes her character much more active and much more sympathetic. She *wants* something, so she's going to *do* things to try and achieve her goal. It's about as basic to storytelling as it gets, but these two galaxy brains couldn't get it right.
The 'force plague' you referenced is literally a real thing. It's called being a wound in the force. Happened a couple times in the Old Republic. They made everyone love them accidentally and they absorbed power from the people around them.
One thing I'd probably add to this would be Finn discovering that he's a clone, and not an original or anything. I think you touched on this a bit, but only vaguely really. At some point Finn & co would maybe discover a room (or rooms) full of "Originals". Captured people who were used as templates for the various clone types being used to fill out the ranks. Finn might discover that some the First Order's trooper designations (XX-111) are based off the original's name "Fyor Nord" becoming FN etcetera. Your First Order clones theory could also easily be covered by one thing we know of the First Order and the Empire in general: You had to earn the right to take off your helmet, ever, and be seen. This could be done to prevent troopers from discovering that they were clones, especially since we know that they were constantly reconditioned. A clone that distinguished itself could be surgically altered and reconditioned upon earning the right to show it's face, or just simply always reconditioned and never actually allowed to show their face. This could also explain why all of the First Order officers have different faces- Clones never being allowed to become officers. Finn could stumble upon this 'original's room and find a body, dead, in suspended animation. Maybe 30 or 40 years older than he himself is. Fyor Nord (Or some other FN star wars name) could have some biometrics data that Finn finds on a dusty panel. On dusting it off he'll find that Fyor was one of the people on a Jedi force sensitives list, but never amounted to anything and ended up being passed over by the Empire as well. This could help reinforce Finn's earlier statements of "I come from a matched set of millions" that he's dropped a couple of times. This could be used to great emotional impact when Finn fights the other Finn clones, each one individually being surprised when he displays force powers superior to anything any other Finn has acheived, reinforcing that his origins don't dictate his story. This could also be used to significant impact in regards to Rey's reaction to seeing and discovering this as well.
@@admiralboot I mean, _same,_ but hot _damn_ dude c: Meanwhile, my best idea in terms of "making Luke have a reason to be a hermit" isn't as... _good_ as Unique's, here. My idea was, simply, "Take what's basically a confirmed fan theory and _run with it._ " That fan theory, of course, being that then-Supreme Chancellor Palpatine caused the terrible dreams that Anakin had, much like how Vader created the visions in Luke's head of his tortured friends...by torturing them. Only Palpatine did so with Sith Magic, which is canon due to the Clone Wars cartoon. Anyway, basic concept: Luke doesn't just have a one-off where he wants to kill Ben. No, he has a _recurring nightmare_ about a _masked figure deliberately following in Vader's footsteps_ that he _cannot_ identify...for _six months straight._ So when, during one particular training session, he gets the same nightmare _while awake,_ and the figure reveals his face as _Ben,_ he snaps from the prolonged psychological torture and attacks...and he doesn't even realize his mistake of his own mind. Luke would then state, "It was then that I heard the laughter. The laughter of complete success, of victory, of _domination,_ in my head, as my anger vanished. You see...in Palpatine's effects, after he died, we found books on old Sith rituals, including ways to create false visions in someone's head. According to his notes, he used these on my dad, but it apparently took three _months_ of preparation to do _once,_ because however powerful Palpatine was, my father was far stronger in the Force until he lost half his body mass. But Snoke...he played me like a _fiddle,_ an expert Bith musician like that band back in Mos Eisley, and he did so _at a whim._ I came here to hide and prepare, because there's no _way_ I could face him as I was then...or as I am now...without serious preparation or an army at my back." And if you _really_ wanted to make Rey be that special snowflake, have him say, "But you...your power is greater than his. Unhoned, but it's there. I just wish I knew how to help you hone it properly...because that's the only way Snoke gets put down." Have him then sigh miserably. "I never learned how to teach, much less how to teach future Jedi. And because of that, I failed Ben, my pupils, my mentors, the galaxy." He then looks up at her, misty-eyed. "Please...help this old man make things right again. I know it's a lot to ask, but...I don't see a better option." TL;DR: _PLAY UP THE SHEER THREAT THAT SNOKE PRESENTS._
Well the cool thing is, since it cuts that would be an equally valid interpretation. I could see MANY internet debates sparking up as to whether she would say “Rey” or “nobody” in the last scene

Cole Dewey if parallel universes are a thing, which they probably are, then you’re most likely correct
Prequels always found its way to be memable. George is an absolute madlad.
What I love about this:
-Finn and Rey taking divergent paths.
(And again, I didn't hate his self-imposed exile as it was.)
-Phasma's "I fight for the strongest" mentality lends a lot of depth to her character and her redemption is almost as cool as Ben's.
I agree with all of this
It is fantastic, but giant clone snoke is a bit far
For the second paragraph, when you said Finn being the more physical, lightsaber duelist but with a weaker connection to the force. I couldn't help but think of Finn being some sort of Black Obi-wan, due to Obi-Wan not being as adept with the force as most Jedi yet it was his other qualities that made him a powerful Jedi.
It also keeps the Anakin's legacy of killing Sidious in tact and bringing balance to the force.

I'm picking up what you're putting down. I still really like what was done with him in this rewrite though.

It’s easy to rewrite a movie but none of us could ever write a good movie.
Ever hear the phrase "hindsight is 20/20"? That's what's happening here. It's a lot easier to take an existing piece of media and make it better than to make an entirely new piece of media from scratch.
@@PlayerZeroStart That and maybe not switching director in the middle of a trilogy and then kicking one of your protagonists to the curb.
Facts we only got Mace Windu
Finn being a stormtrooper advocate makes him 50x more likeable.

I have a few ideas on how that would work:
-Rey was just inexperienced and conflicted so the power wouldn't work forever
-Rey had some of the dark side in her the whole time, so her force connection to them would eventually give some of the dark side to them and make them hate her, which would explain why her parents stopped loving her even though they raised her and they should've grown to love her anyway
-Everyone has the force in them, so over time the force in them would try and resist the pull. But if she only has the light side or whatever was similar to them then the person would reach back at her in the same way. This would explain why her and Kylo had a connection (they were both conflicted) and why Kylo wanted to stay and rule with her without knowing her at all, and why Rey in turn wanted the same
Bruh how long did it take you to write this

You know what really annoys me? They DO do this, but only in the spinoff material that happens AFTER RoS.
2 changes I'd make:
Finn has a white saber, canonically they are kyber crystals that were purified from the dark side, metaphor for him turning Ben and Rey to the light.
And Luke being dead.
the "Force Plague" idea you're talking about is actually a concept that exists in Star wars already. but the concept's actual name is "Wound in the force".
basically, like a black hole in the force, wherein a place or individual influences the minds of others they interact with much in the way you suggested. a wound in the force draws everything to it, and it grows stronger with the force energy it leeches/absorbs from those around it.
basically like how gravity is stronger around a black hole, a person who is a wound in the force can seem very powerful in the force in a similar way. the force around them grows stronger because they act like a singularity, and are able to influence it and control it.
people are drawn to them, and their actions are influenced by them. etc
i do like the idea of Rey being such a person who is an anomaly like this. but these types of anomalies are born out of extreme circumstances where a LOT of life dies very suddenly. massive tragedies and such. the main example of a walking Wound in the Force in Star wars was born out of the destruction of an entire planet.

Watto's resistance to the Force wasn't a unique thing. The more different a person's mind is from the one influencing them, the harder it is to do. That's why Geonosians were considered effectively immune to mind tricks. This was also a learnable skill, as seen with Cad Bane requiring 3 Jedi (and quite a bit of mental anguish) to crack.

i got so excited over this i wanted to throw in something: maybe instead of flashbacks directly telling the viewer what kylo means when he says rey's a force plague, there could be a certain motif that's played every time she uses the force to influence others; not anything significant, just a few distinctive notes that stand out against the rest of the soundtrack. That way, when kylo does the Big Reveal, the notes could play in a fleshed out, more cohesive theme as the answers to rey's questions are revealed through sound instead of being directly spoon-fed to the audience. But that's just my two cents- what you've done is beyond anything I could imagine!!! this is crazy. kudos x30000 to you
ohh that's such a cool idea!! given that pretty much everyone and everything has a theme in star wars, that would make so much sense and be one of those things you don't really notice until they're right in your face

@@Saturnlock I believe its better to just show Rey as being someone very powerful since the beggining and assuming it you know, because it feels more honest, not like the original movies that just throw Rey as being weak and then suddenly evolves god like powers without any kind of training, at least in this script she's already stablished as being powerful, so it doesn't feel like a mary sue, but more as a character trait :P
@@gabrielbarros11 I never liked Rey. It wasn't sexism, it wasn't reverse feminism. It was how out of nowhere she was so overpowered. From the begining she could fly a ship she'd never used before. Ive heard of Mary Sue but I never read the comics so I cant say anything on there, but Rey always angered me. She had equal to, or even greater, powers than Anakin and Luke. But Rey, Palpatine or not, shouldn't have been this powerful. As I said, its not sexism. Female characters can be powerful, i dont care, but I want to know WHY they're so powerful.
@@luckymango1963 yeah, basicaly there's no satisfaction at all when Rey won against Ren in ALL the movies, because it doesn't feel deserved.
Oh my god, this is perfect, this made me so happy.

This story plot was made before. It was called a wound in the force. There was noooooo reason Disney couldn’t have used this story 😂

That would be a good one.
@@xenon8117
Well, WHY is it better that Leia not be Force sensitive?

It becomes second nature for whenever you have the option to use it, so you have to make the conscious decision not to
Mmmmmyes deus ex
At Which point the moment she is made aware of it's existence (like when Unique mentions it here with Kylo and his realization and comment of what's happening when she fights him) She starts to actively practice that ability, with help from Kylo Ren of course.
CASIE aug sure was useful, bit spooky too to think about that it’s available to upper class citizens, needing little effort to swing people your way
The best part is that the "Force Plague" thing actually exists in legends, it's called a "Wound in the force". Not only that, but this could potentially lead to the KOTOR games being re-canonized.
The only issue would be how Rey became a wound, because they are created by a very large amount of people in one area all dying almost simultaneously. The only 2 known walking wounds in the force survived the destruction of an entire planet.
Just to be clear, we are now at the point were most RUclips comments surpass Disney Star Wars in terms of logical, emotional, and mental engagement
It's kinda fucking sad, isn't it? :c
Star Wars is effectively dead and best left to the fans.

I first thought was of The Jedi Exile from KOTOR 2.
I was literally waiting for him to say "you're a wound in the force" in this video, but then he went with "force plaque".... hmm
This could also be used to significant impact in regards to Rey's reaction to seeing and discovering this as well.
thats amazing
Glorious.

Meanwhile, my best idea in terms of "making Luke have a reason to be a hermit" isn't as...
But Snoke...he played me like a _fiddle,_ an expert Bith musician like that band back in Mos Eisley, and he did so _at a whim._ I came here to hide and prepare, because there's no _way_ I could face him as I was then...or as I am now...without serious preparation or an army at my back."
And if you _really_ wanted to make Rey be that special snowflake, have him say, "But you...your power is greater than his. I know it's a lot to ask, but...I don't see a better option."
TL;DR: _PLAY UP THE SHEER THREAT THAT SNOKE PRESENTS._
Oh, and on that note, have this be like _in the first act of the movie,_ assuming a three-act structure.
I'll be honest I think Rey saying "Nobody" at the end of the last scene would be a nice and neat way to wrap up her character arc
