    I think that when the buttons are "Gray" then it means they are ON, when the buttons are "White" then it means they are OFF. I think it would be better if it was the opposite way.

    Hey man - Question - what do you dig using in your Bus Mix when you used Perfect Drums? SSL? Fab Compressor etc? I'm still battling to get a feel for how to use the fab compressor vs, the ssl which you can feel, or a NORMAL compressor... The Fab, just feels so intense, but i'd love to understand and use it better.

    Man, every single time I hear a different drum sim, it makes me love Addictive Drums even more...

    • @sottovoce4
      @sottovoce4 Год назад +1

      that's interesting! I like to hear that. AD2 is the only sim that I could never fit into a mix. I could get it to work if I started a track from ground up. but Toontrack I could always find a preset that sat perfectly in a mix with in 2 to 3 tries. these GGD's are incredible for inspiring song writing and Riggs. they sound soooo good It makes coming up with new song Ideas fun appose to tedious. I might just start using these from the demo process all the way up to final mix and just mix everything around these. the best part of GGD OKW is the limited amount of tweak ability, which so way preferred when writing. I will always have Superior 3 incase I need to dive under the hood, but will never again start writing a song with out pulling up GGD, really anyone of the OKW's.

    • @Metalbass10000
      @Metalbass10000 3 года назад +4

      I debated this also, but the Kontact necessity steered me away. The higher number, wider variety of kits, drums, cymbals, expansions, midi packs, well known drummers, and the occasional sales on certain sites offering midi packs for A DOLLAR, sealed it. Dirk Verbeuren made it a blow out. EZ Drummer. Both are good.

      @@Metalbass10000 Also the Song Creator tool in EZDrummer is so powerful that I can't live without it (it's no surprise that Toontrack added it in Superior Drummer 3)

      Maybe i am too late but i have both and i have superior drummer 2 as well. On my old macbook 2011 superior drummer is only for mixing when i bounced the tracks to audio. With so little cpu power, it needs so much time to load and i am very limited to basic drumkits. With ez drummer it was almost the same. But now with ggd modern fusion it loads in maybe 5 seconds. The kontakt player is fast and you can youse the free kontakt player for GGD. I also didn't want Kontakt. But it is way faster on my old macbook than toontrack stuff without kontakt. I don't know why, but that's a win for me. And i also have to say, that the GGD library is sooooo well recorded. I barely do anything to the drums except of little balancing in the mix and maybe adjusting the room channel. With ez or superior i had a raw tone but it always needed lots of work, otherwise it didn't sound balanced in a huge mix. GGD is by far the easiest library for recording and mixing. And it sounds inspiring right out of the box. And it is cheaper than the toontrack library. I used toontrack for almost 10 years or so. But now i don't want to go back, if it isn't necessary.

      @@bennyelsensohn9299 Does GGD work well with multiple genres or just metal? I'm just concerned that GGD may not be as versatile as EZ and Superior. I'm looking to make styles everywhere from pop to djent. Any thoughts?

    • @bennyelsensohn9299
      @bennyelsensohn9299 3 года назад +2

      @@camdenwyeth316 depends on the version. In my opinion the GGD Modern Fusion is really good for different Genres. The presets and premix options are relatively clean and maybe a bit scooped for some genres but the built in mixer lets you create more roomy or boomy tones on each instrument. The kick by default has a bit too much click in the highs and is therefore best suited for rock music or denser arrangements. But you can dial in more overhead or room tone and EQ it slightly. In the end, i am faster dialing a good tone and slighty tweak it backwards to a more "raw tone" than mixing and balancing a good tone with the raw samples from superior. It all mathers how good and fast you are with mixing. Even if you have raw uncoloured tones in superior, the time it takes is far more than working a bit backwards with Modern Fusion. But as always, there is no general rule or trick. It highly depends on the genre you do. Pop is a big topic. Do you have electronic drum sounds and want to compliment them with acoustic drums or is it acoustic drums only? If you have an 808 and want a natural acoustic kick underneath it, then maybe all you want is a raw kick with the boxy frequencies to balance things out. Boosting (let's say) 400 Hz on GGD to give it more boxyness that got already scooped out is maybe not as productive than having a source tone from Superior where it is already very boxy before doing anything. For the price and variety for quick songwriting that sounds stellar, i would buy GGD modern fusion. In the end, there is no "better" - only different. I would suggest to make a song and try your stock drum kit samples and look how many and what moves you have to do in the mixing phase. Are you scooping the midrange of the kick, boosting the highs a lot to hear the beater or maybe highpass your overheads a lot, then you probably want GGD Modern Fusion. Are you basically doing nothing to your drums and leave them relatively raw after balancing, then superior is a better choice. When you know your program and become better and better, then it really doesn't matter if you stick to superior. It can do everything but is more complicated when starting out on mixing. This is only my opinion and no general rule or something :)

      This kit in particular is aimed for different genres that aren’t metal so yes it works perfectly with pop! However, if you want full control in terms of mix, I recommend buying Modern and Massive instead as it’s better in terms of control, creativity, and honestly diversity.

    the plugin only takes over the parallel compression and an EQ in the masterbus when required. the individual mics for kick snare etc. behave normally and have to be individually mixed with eqs and compressed. is that correct or does the plugin also do the process beforehand?
