Keep up the good work man from one content creator to another. I see you’re blowing up on RUclips and killing it. I love your covers and creativity. Please keep pumping out the content-I see you being at a million subs in the not so distant future! 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thanks for watching guys, hit the description for a bunch of fun links including the artist that made the background music in this video. If you want more production videos, there are a bunch on my Patreon as well. BYEEE
Do you ever plan on touring after COVID? I'd love to see you live man. I'm a drummer currently earning a degree in music performance right now and it's awesome to hear you're coming from that background.
This is an awesome service you are providing! Love listening to your music, also, would really like to see if you could redo your original "All The Time" I can see how much you have improved and personally would like to see that redone. Keep up the great work!
I’ll definitely check out these plug ins, but maybe this comment will help you out: my producer friend taught me to only quantize specific elements, like the kick, and let the rest of the kit stay loose. It’s a small thing but it’s imo the best of both worlds
Love this, thanks bro!! Would love to see how you also get your vocals. Probably really simple but I don't have much knowledge on how to get great vocals. Thank you again! Love your covers and your music!
Pro tip, but at least in Reason, the midi editor has a "humanize" function that will automatically add some variation to velocity and/or timing to help get that human feel. At any rate, I've been digging your stuff Alex, so carry on!
Humanize is a little too random for me. I like to edit myself to really emulate how a drummer plays and the difference between lead/offhand. Like when I play piano a chord hit with my right hand will have lower velocity as you move up my fingers until my pinky, but humanize may thumb 100, pointer 100, middle 110 velocity. Some parts call for that to emphasize melodies but leaving that up to humanize.. no thank you.
@@DJKuroh Great point. Truthfully, the main reason I use humanize on my setup is so that I get a little more variance in which sample is actually played. I'll do slight velocity changes on beats, but I always do fills or snare rolls manually for exactly the reason you mentioned.
I'm curious to know if you've tried the Pop Punk One Kit Wonder since it's come out? Also, would love to see more videos from you on your studio/ recording process!
I’m still using Modern and Massive, I have gotten much deeper with my own custom mix inside the plugin and I’ve gotten a lot more in depth with processing on the master drum bus, but you can’t go wrong with any of their kits. M&M wins for me because of the huge amount of snare options they include.
@@AlexMeltonthanks for the reply. That's great to know. I really love the room sound of the pop punk kit, but I also love the Meinl cymbals better on the modern and massive. Do you think the modern and massive is great right out of the box, as well? I'm on the fence because of the room sound and the "realness" of the pop punk kit, but I like the snare better in modern and massive.
@@AlexMeltonalso-do you have a preset on it...for someone that would enjoy having your preset. I really don't like doing mix stuff, I just want to pull shit up and have it sound awesome if that makes sense.
With the Roland kit? Yeah it’s a nightmare. So I routed just the hi hat audio from one of the aux outs on the Roland module and blended it with my GGD kit in pro tools.
Great video...and that's kinda my problem with modern pop punk. It just sounds fake. If you compare a song from Sum 41, Blink 182, Green day, you know the legendary bands, one of their songs compared to a moder pop punk band you can hear the difference. The mdoern is super loud and all, but it sounds fake and the snare...oh, the snare is like a freaking machine gun.
This video was made so long ago in the progression of my production. Don’t write off fake drums just from my years old perspective - those legacy bands didn’t even have access to the stuff we have now and it objectively sounds better these days. Maybe not from me since I’m just a dude in a bedroom but the good old days needed a lot more money and resources to achieve those sounds

Good to know that Distrokid handles covers well! I've been using them for a couple years but didn't know about the covers thing. Rad!

How do you feel about the drums in logic?
I saw a bunch of comments asking for this. The man gives the people what they want! Thanks bro.
THANK YOU FOR USING MY BEAT FOR THE INTRO ALEX!!! I loved the video!!

Thanks! Just starting to record drums this will help a lot.
Love your covers and stuff but also really love this content too! Very helpful

Keep up the great work!
I'm digging the sound of this VST. I usually use Addictive Drums for my stuff, but I might make the switch. Or at least take it for a test ride.
Thanks for introducing me to GetGood Drums
What's your opinion on the EzDrummer's Pop Punk EZX that was produced by John Feldman?
Very interesting to see your process. I've loved your videos!
The "1k like" xd bro those drums are awesome I was looking for a review from this and it was what I expected 🔥🔥
Congrats on 400k
Awesome video man. Would love to see a video on how you produce your guitars as well
Thank you Alex 🙏🙏
Are the Roland drums just to trigger the MIDI or do you program everything first then just "play the drums" just for video?

THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!
More videos like this year please 😊😊
Great video. Have you checked out Butch Vig Drums from NI yet? It's a 16 pad setup but the drum sounds from the pack are KILLER.
I haven’t but I will!
@@AlexMelton I was gonna ask the same thing! I just got BV drums the other day and they're pretty rad.
I'm curious to know if you've tried the Pop Punk One Kit Wonder since it's come out? Also, would love to see more videos from you on your studio/ recording process!
hey, whats the kit you use in your videos? like the hardware pads. Roland TD17?
Why do you quantize every thing? I usually slightly adjust certain hits and makes the whole thing sound more realistic and have more feel to it
It'd be fun to record it on your own kit though yeah?
Love this video!!
Hey Alex, thanks for the video! Can you please tell me which compressor plugins you are using to make the drum sound fat and punchy?
Please! Make a video explaining your preset on Getgood Drums. Thanks
Nice job on the vid
Love your videos and listen to warped tour music like a skylit drive and also big fan blink 182
it is nice !!!! i want see ur compose and chord voicing !!!
Would love to hear your thoughts on ToonTracks Pop Punk EZX drum kit designed by John Feldmann
These packs on on sale right now incase any ones interested
Notification gang, where you at???
I know it's 3 years later, but have you tried the GGD pop punk kit? I'm sort of one the fence whether I want this one or the pop punk kit.

I would love to see some drum play through videos of your post Malone songs 😍
I swear this dude is Rhett Shull lost brother
Hey Alex, is that the Alesis VI25, VI49 or VI61?
Hey man,
Do you know what's a really good drum software to match with roland v-drums?
Currently using ez drummer 2 but really wanna upgrade it.
Hey Alex! You never had any issue mapping the CC/hh pedal inside the GGD? I'm struggling a lot.
With the Roland kit? Yeah it’s a nightmare. So I routed just the hi hat audio from one of the aux outs on the Roland module and blended it with my GGD kit in pro tools.
@@AlexMelton I’m using an Alesis kit but same issue. nice workaround!
thanks for replying man. Keep it up. Love your content.
what is that keyboard/drumpad
Great so why aren't all your covers on spotify?
Me watching not skipping the ads 😊
GGD is the best in the game.

@@AlexMelton I would love to see an updated version of your drum production. Especially the worship stuff.
I asked who did your drums in a future video before watching this...please disregard
