As to the rest, I had heard of some of those bands back in the mid 1980s. I lived LA at the time and it was the Mecca of Hair Bands and Heavy Metal. Out of all of these, Danger Danger was the only band that got any airplay on the radio. None of them went far....pretty much sucked.
Joeys mom seemed like a doll. The Ramones were an absolutely incredible band, at the forefront of the punk music scene, but as Joey mentioned, incorporated tons of musical styles into their own interpretations, doo-wop, surfer guitar, rock and roll, all at super sonic speed with their own unique flair. They paved the way for generations of garage and alternative bands even to this day.. My mom hated 99% of the music I played growing up, but tolerated the Ramones...I’ll never forget her singing along to one of their songs to my amazement, and telling me ‘that’s a song from MY day’, and I thanked her for trying to ruin it for me!

Joey was always in such a schizzophrenic situation; on the one hand hiding behind these dark glasses and huge amounts of hair; on the other craving the public , and media scrutiny of rock'n roll. he just seems unable to hide his insecurity. The more amazing what he still achieved.

Tricky Nicky I’m so lucky to have seen them live in 1987, If I damaged my hearing that night, it was well worth it! I’ll never forget the day I heard that Joey died. Then, when the last founding member died, I wasn’t right in the head for about a week. It just felt like something very important was missing forever. The only other time I felt that, was upon hearing of David Bowie’s death. Their music will live on forever tho!
I think it's a harsh reality that in the US, The Ramones would get lumped in with these 4th string nobodies. Anywhere else in the world they were heroes, in the States they struggled.
I am now 2 years older than Joey when he died. It's too young to die! His mother was an attractive woman. I see her here for the first time. May both rest in peace and be united.

It’s very strange to think about how much time is now passed. I remember watching this as a little kid, maybe 3rd grade? Both Joey and his wonderful mother Charlotte are now reposed, been gone for quite some time now. Times are worse now, and that’s not just a matter of perspective either. Ask anyone, young or older. The world, at least the Western world, is now a darker, nastier, and more dismal place. And I don’t think it’s going to get any better either. Miss these times.
I thought it was very interesting that when Joey was on his death bed with cancer/complications from his fall that and Marky tried to convince Johnny to go see him, Johnny said he wasn't his friend anymore..it wasn't long after that that Johnny learned of his own certain fatal cancer. We miss you, Joey. As a 70's baby, I miss them all.

A lot of metalheads will say they hate punk but many metal musicians were moreso influenced musically and fashion as a teen by rock n roll like the ramones that paved the way for punk rock. Even slayer and guns n roses did an entire studio album each that mainly consist of early hardcore and punk covers. Also, members of at the gates are in a hardcore crust punk band. Or how about all the 80s butt rock hair metal glam bands like poison and hanoi rocks that were just scene biting david bowies and new york dolls style? I can seriously keep going...
