The music is astonishing and so is the lyrics. I'm glad we can avoid crap music of big labels and hear the freshness of pure talent here.
I started getting tired of what big labels were putting out and hadn't bought a music CD since the early 1990s, except for some Mannheim Steamroller Christmas CDs. Since finding Mary, I've either bought or downloaded everything she has available on her website store. What a breath of fresh air!

I am going to say it and perhaps take crap for it, but I strongly feel that she might be a songwriter in the league of Townes Van Zandt, not a compliment to be taken lightly. I'm proud as a musician myself that there are still extremely brilliant and gifted musicians that take songwriting to the levels of greats such as Townes Van Zandt, Leonard Cohen, and Dylan. Bravo.... Just........ Bravo!!

@@jerryh7576 - A couple of her ballads are almost 10 minutes long - too long for any radio channel to play them (as they like 2-3 minutes), but God are they good! Really, they are more epic poetry set to music than songs.
You will not take any crap from the fans that meet here to enjoy the raw talent of Miss Mary. Did you catch the recording of her at six years old? Even then you could see in her eyes that she was destined for greatness. WE all love her work.

This is one of Mean Mary's best story songs, but all of her music is great. I have seen Mean Mary 3 times in concert, and she is an amazing performer as well as a very nice and amazing person. If you get the chance, you need to see her perform live.

I am also over 70 and have to agree with Irene Johnsson. My music taste developed listening to some of the great music that was part of the folk movement in the '60s. Mean Mary is at least as good as the best of that music.
This is my first time hearing about Mean Mary ,her lyrics are off the charts! If all her music sounds like this ,well it's a whole lot better than Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus. Mean Mary you're awesome!

I can hear this potentially in so many music styles. This one of those songs that transcends the boundies of genre.

Here the thing, I keep get recommendations to listen to listen to some miley cyrus album when I can listen to this. Nothing against miley but she has yet to put out a tune that compares to this one. My point is look for your independent artist. They play to play. Reward them over the corporate people who look for the almighty dollar.

Mary, if your readin this ya need to know you've got a lot more more than those girls we usually hear on the radio. They have the voice, some of them have the soul, but they have to dig to relate to the words they are singing. It just doesn't sound right. You?...You sound like you've "Been There". You've lived it. It gives you a beauty those little girls will never have. The beauty of a woman.
