My Dad is back there playing bass. He was Roy's bandleader and business manager for 20 years and they remained close friends for life. I can tell you that Roy practiced constantly. For instance, when he and his wife would join us for holiday meals, he'd bring a guitar. He'd go find a chair and just start practicing. He could carry on conversations while practicing. He was that dedicated to making sure his audience got what they were expecting. He never took a day off. It meant the world to him to be his absolute best. Thanks for sharing.
Well you were lucky enough to have been able to be up close and personal and enjoy the talent of who I personally consider the greatest guitar player to have ever lived.... I have watched Roy on TV for decades and was always amazed
A reporter once asked Eddie Van Halen what it was like to be the greatest guitar player of all time and he said I don’t know you’d have to ask that question to Roy Clark
Same thing happened with Jimmy Hendrix. The best guitar players in the world were mesmerized by Roy. One of the nicest men I ever had the opportunity to be around and a strong Christian.
The same story has gone on about supposedly Jimi Hendrix said it about Phil keaggy, Eddie said it about Roy, Jimmy Page about Hendrix etc. I'm pretty sure it never happened in the name just keep changing
I saw him in Las Vegas in 1980. He played a few songs then stopped. He stiod out in the front of the stage. He then pointed to the house band. He asked the audience to give them a big round of applause for making him look fabulous. He introduced each band member by name. Thats classs.
Wow, I love stories like that. Like, who does that? Awesome story. I always like him. He always came across as a very positive and great human being. There is a very small group of people that just have that type and f energy that you can feel.
There are some artists that just truly love to perform, love their fans, and appreciate the artists backing them. And Roy was definitely one of them. So relaxed on stage and with the audience.
@@ronfullerton3162 Yes... The Gibb brothers were like that. The Bee Gees would actually thank their fans for allowing them to sign autographs for them.
@@prayingmantis6777 Chris LaDue also did that, and introduced each back member Individually. And several times, he would just leave the stage and let the band go wild on their own. His band even stuck together for awhile after Chris' death, and his son was singing. That band could take off and play about any type of music, and they all acted like they were enjoying every moment. Chris and his band kept everyone rocking, and there were no special effects, with the exception of a mechanical bull. Just a high charged musical night outside under the stars. They have the best rendition of "Life is a Highway" in my opinion, along with a wonderful selection of other rock, country, cowboy, humorous, and ballad type songs . It was such a wonderful evening that was over much too fast.
What I heard about Roy Clark is that he was a genuinely kind man, that he believed his talent was a gift from god, and he said he felt connected to god when he played. Maybe that's what his expression was about when he closes his eyes. 🥲☺️ Just filled with joy! Good for him! ❤
Same with me...when i take the guitar and play, bad things go away; it's a bit like that Saul/David thing..thank you, Lord! I didn't know Roy Clark, 59 now... Man, he got that swing also, that let music breathe...👍
@@KatieBelle777 We do just up the road in Springfield, Missouri, too. (Although I lived in OK for many years, I think I got the phrase from my grandma.) 🖖😎
Roy was a friend of my Dad's. He would stop by sometimes when he was in the area. He was the absolute best musician I have ever seen. You could always tell when he was getting as fast as he could play. His tongue would stick out. RIP Roy.
I love Roy Clark. And he could sing. Beautiful voice, and he loved to make people laugh as he played. One of his serious songs that evokes deep thought is “Yesterday When I Was Young.” It will cast a spell on your mind.❤

Roy Clark could play ANY string instrument and play it very well, he was a musical prodigy and a decent man. Roy was one of the biggest guitar influences in my life as a musician.
"Bless his heart" or your heart, or their heart has multiple uses. As Roy used it, it was a sincere and gracious. But you can also use it as a way of talking smack about a person, but couch it in a way that doesn't sound too derogatory. "That boy never had the brains God gave a squirrel, bless his heart... " or "She's never been an attractive woman, bless her heart."

You go anywhere below the Mason-Dixon Line and you will hear "Bless Your Heart" all the time. Roy passed away in 2018. He was one of our greatest guitarists. Roy does sing. Check out "Thank God and Greyhound" and "Yesterday, When I Was Young".
I often heard "well bless your little heart" over 55 years ago from my aunts in Northern Virginia. What's new to me is these young-uns with what looks like toilet paper stick-en out their ears.
@@eddiep7444 Interestingly “well bless your heart “ is fraudulently the response when someone says or does something naïve or just not well thought out. A little bit of sugar helps the medicine go down. Tone and context is important in determining the meaning. It’s not unlike the phrase used in New Jersey “forget about it”. The meaning can very depending on the way and tone it is said.
Brings back some old memories. Grew up watching, and listening to Roy Clark mostly on the old Hee Haw Show. Very talented and funny guy. Down to earth as they came.

Roy Clark was one of my favorite entertainers of all time. We used to watch him and Buck Owens on Hee Haw every week. Another great country music entertainer you may appreciate is Junior Brown. While not quite as outrageous as Clark he also has his own unique style of entertainment.
Roy Clark and Buck Owens were monsters on strings I could listen to them all day long, and Hee Haw was a fun show even though a lot of people up north claimed to hate it, BTW I`m from Boston, Mass. and a country boy at heart, I hate city living. Peace and brother love to you and all.
Roy Clark was such an amazing guitar player and gentleman. Playing fast on a 12 string is not easy. It blows me away that Rolling Stone didn’t have him on their list of the top 250 guitarists. Personally, I think he should be in the top 100.
RS is a joke. Don't give any credence to that awful rag and their bs lists. The fact they still have Hendrix as #1 says it all, so overrated it's ridiculous
Really though, considering how many rappers and non-Rock acts have made it to the RR Hall of Fame, Roy Clark should be in there too just because of his talent.

I got to meet Roy when I was younger. I actually got to interview him for a school project. He was the kindest, most humble man I think I have ever met, and he never let his talent or his fame go to his head. Roy was easily one of the most talented multi-instrumentalists to ever live: his skill on the guitar and banjo are unrivaled in my opinion. I would suggest listening to Malaguena (Spanish-style guitar) and Yesterday, When I Was Young (his biggest country hit). Thank you so much for listening to Roy and continuing his legacy!
It's nice to see young people appreciate great older performers. @michaelduffy You should hear him play "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" or hear him play a fiddle - he can play classical too.
Great reaction! I love this song. It has been recorded by so many artists. Roy does such a great version of it. He was such a wonderful entertainer, humble man & super talented. He was both a singer & musician. His guitar & banjo playing are legendary.
I was at a Roger Maris golf tournament for charity. Roy Clark was the entertainment for the banquet. Great show. Later Roy and his band came to the hospitality room . We drank and played Left Right Center. Roy had not drank for a very long time. He was totally drunk , staggering. The band was holding him up. Some asked, " Roy, play a song". He immediatly woke up, play the song, then went back into his stooper. Amazing musician. Funny.
Back in the early 60's, I was with a couple of friends in club in Juarez Mexico. As we weren't wearing evening jackets we had to sit in the bar. A performer came on stage and played "Malaguena"on the guitar. Fantastic performance. It wasn't until a decade or so later that I saw him on TV and discovered it was Roy Clark.
Yesterday when I was young, one of my most favorite songs on the planet and will be played at my memorial. This young man looks to be the age of my grand children. I was in love with ray Clark free years. He's just magnificent, so go watch. HeeHaw I don't know if if you have.
I remember Roy playing on the show Hee Haw way back when . I can only wish i had understood the genius i saw playing then. But what was more i saw a man who was genuine in his love of the music he played and the love that showen from his eyes for the peopletoo. I sure miss those days now.

Some time ago I was in a band...I was the country part of the show and we all decided a 12 string would fit very well. I did too until we did a 6 hr New Year's Eve show at the local Eagles. One of the Beatles once said....." I'VE GOT BLISTERS ON ME FINGERS"! I know what he meant!!!! I sold that guitar the next week!!!
that explains the look of pain on his face, his fingers being ripped open by those tiny strings, all that sliding, the 12 string is usually played by strumming.... i guess he has calluses on his fingers, and so quick and nimble, no fret noise, he is good, he is the best
"Bless his/her/your heart" is a southern thing. It can be used as a salutation, as Roy used it, but is most often used at the end of a statement to or about someone as an expression of empathy. For example, somebody might say, "Pete's just lost his job, bless his heart." What southerners also understand is that it can be used kind of disingenuously to mask an insult, and there is a joke down here in the deep south that you can say anything about somebody and it's okay as long as you add "bless his heart" to the end of it. So, the reply to the above statement might be, "Not surprised. Pete's never done a hard day's work in his life, bless his heart." See, that was mean, but it's okay, because they added "bless his heart." 😉
I'm 62, and I knew as a little kid he was special. If I heard he was going to be on Johnny Carson that night, I'd secretly stay awake to see him. Truly one of the GOATs.

Love seeing young guys getting their eyelids peeled back when they witness Roy Clark. Check him out playing 'Malaguena'. He wasn't just a virtuoso when it came to country/western music.
BLESS YOUR HEART!! It's a Southern phrase, with multiple meanings. If someone says "I lost my job or my pet died" you reply I'm so sorry, bless your heart. Someone does something stupid you insult them and add Bless Your Heart, so it doesn't sound like an insult. If someone offends or disrespects you, you say "Are you having a bad day? Well Bless Your Heart". Trust me you will know the difference by the voice inflections! Great reaction young man! Hello from Texas 🤠
I watched this video today 11/10/2024 and listened to your comments. I am a senior and you proved what a lot of seniors say. Young people do not know "diddle de squat about anything."
Roy Clark (dueling banjos).... best ever!! Roy Clark played a string cigar box in his early childhood... he is the most talented I have ever heard. God Bless him.

I'm glad to see some of these virtuoso's being rediscovered by younger generations! I admired Roy Clark when he was in his hey-day. And he could play more than the Guitar too. Another was Glen Campbell and the still living legend, Vince Gill! Often overlooked are the Ladies, like Barbara Mandrell who could play every instrument in the band.
You mentioned Glenn Campbell, who was absolutely a great, great guitar player. The only musician that ever played in the Wrecking Crew, yet couldn't read music. Imagine that.
He was a master at every instrument including not just stringed, but horns. Very talented, and a true gentleman. As a Tulsan he is still missed, loved, and revered. Never hear an ill word about him.
His most famous vocal performance was a CLASSIC, called Yesterday, when I was young. Now that I am not young anymore, it takes on deeper meaning everyday,
I think Roy felt extremely lucky to have had so much success (well deserved) and it kept him humble and from taking himself too seriously. He loved to entertain and clown around to garner a smile. I knew him from his time on "Hee Haw" and he always comes across as a really good hearted guy. Gone but never forgotten.
Mr. Clark is a wizard on the guitar! Any guitar! I love how he makes every song into his own! And I remember when he came out on that old show "Hee Haw" He was also a very funny comedian! A master guitarist who is sorely missed 🙏
Him playing "Malaguena" on the "Odd Couple" (a sitcom from the '70's/80's?) and "Twelfth St Rag" are just a couple of my favorites. Edit: Never mind. Just saw that you already did them. All live, too.
I grew up watching HeeHaw at my grandparents house. I had little appreciation for it. Then I was working Harrahs South Lake Tahoe, and I could sneak into the kitchen of the showroom and watch who was playing. It’s my privilege to say I saw Roy a few times in the early 80s and I gained a very strong appreciation! What a lovely, talented man.
Great Reaction! Growing up in Oklahoma in the 60's/70's Country Music was a big part of life, and Roy Clark was a BIG part of Country Music!! As amazing as his guitar playing skills have always been, I especially enjoyed when he sang. My favorite Roy Clark song has always been "Thank God and Greyhound". I would love to see you react to it and I look forward to seeing more of your reaction videos!
Roy not only had skills, but he was a very kind soul. I will never forget him saying to me, (while I was slapping the bass before the Merv Griffin show), "Where did you learn all them country licks boy". He was sharp, funny, and always uplifting. Loved him.
I love the way a 12 string sounds. Roger McGuinn and Roy Clark are the only ones I know who could truly master that instrument. Great video, thanx Dude!
As a guitarist, but not really a country music fan, I still have to give Roy Clark his due. Truly one of the most gifted musicians to pick up a guitar. A jaw dropping master. Pretty damn good on the banjo too.
...I am not a country fan either, but their talent is undeniable , some really talented country players...check out some duets with Glen Campbell or Chet Atkins...even some of the contemporary country players are great, it seems most are influenced by Lynyrd Skynyrd and other southern rock bands of the 70s ( Allman Brothers, The Outlaws, Marshall Tucker, Black foot etc.) ...I am a metal guy. But my eyes have been opened to 70s southern rock lately, these guys can play...peace Brother
Find Phil and Tommy Emmanuel doing this song and having fun. Phil is a phenomenal player, he died too young, but Tommy (try Classical Gas, Initiation and other tunes) is considered the best guitar player in the world, even though he plays rhythm when playing with Phil.
"Bless your (their) heart" is a sort of universal Southern statement when things are either good or bad. Sadly we lost Roy Clark in 2018 but I honestly believe that you could stretch 6 rubber bands across a cigar box and Roy would make it sound like a Stratocaster. The man was and still is one of the most phenomenal stringed instrument players ever to walk this earth.
Roy passed 11/15/2018 at 85. I loved to watch and hear him play. He was one of my top music idols, the other was Mac Davis who passed on 9/29/2020. Roy could literally play any stringed instrument you put in his hands. And Mac could write a song on the spot and proved it often on his TV show. I cried both times I heard either of them had died.
I thought my parents were weird for liking Roy Clark , Glen Campbell and Jerry Reed...I only listened to Van Halen and Def Leppard and thought every one else "stinks". Boy was I STUPID and NARROW-MINDED as a kid !?!?!?! These guys were THE TOP OF THE CLASS - and are STILL to this very day !! These three players I just listed have completely BLOWN MY MIND with their musical abilities and attitudes...they were all also class acts as human beings...wow do we miss them !!!
Roy also liked to be comedic. Hee Haw had him play Dueling Banjos a couple of times, usually with a healthy dose of humor mixed in. On another note, Ghost Riders In The Sky has been covered by a multitude of singers. It's probably one of the most iconic CW songs. A very early recording was done by The Sons Of The Pioneers (b/w, excellent version). Johnny Cash did a famous cover also. For a more modern twist, Geoff Castellucci sang it a capella and layered himself.
There was a television show called Hee Haw if you want to see more of Roy Clark and him having fun playing his stringed instruments he did it there every time the show was on, grew up watching him play went to some of his concerts and shows he is the absolute best to play by far... more talented than words can capture
If you want to see something that will blow your socks off, Check out his performance of Malaguena! That is one of the most breath taking performances you will ever see anyone do. He is one of the most under rated talents of all time!!!
I had the honor of sitting in the front row to see his show in Tahoe many years ago. This man amazed the entire crowd with how many instruments he totally mastered. Due to a mutual acquaintance i got to meet him in his dressing room after the show. What a humble talented a kind gentleman.
Just happened on your videos this evening. It was a treat watching the face of someone who clearly understands something about making music react to seeing a master at work. I grew up in the South in the 60's and 70's, where country music was second only to Elvis, and Roy Clark was one of the most-played artists on the radio stations of the time down there. And yes, he had a knack for picking up any string instrument and making it his own. Some of it was natural talent, but from all I've heard, he worked at his craft every moment that he could. I especially love this video, later in his life, when his absolute love of the music is so clearly evident.
Aw, bless your heart! That's typically a southern phrase, depending on where/how it's used can mean good things, or sometimes meant to convey that the other person isn't real bright. Anyway, yes, Roy Clark was one of the most amazing performers ever--we grew up watching Hee-Haw and he was always our favorite!
Roy Clark used heavy gauge strings with high action. As a guitar player myself, I use light gauge strings with low action. His setup would have killed me. How he played like that, I'll never know, but he was great. He played many other instruments too. He was an amazing talent.
I hate trying to play on a guitar with a high action on it. I play electric, and a completely different genre. I noticed many of the same techniques implemented though. Ie, the tremelo picking is used in a lot of metal music. I bet he could've played that kind of stuff easily though. (tapping, sweep picking, and things like that). Dude was way ahead of his time.
@@robbarrett6002 I use 10s and the same brand. I went way too long without playing guitar though. Now, my sweet picking sucks. I'm going to have to do a lot of practice to get back into that. Tapping is very easy though. I'm going to work on sweep tapping again as well.
I saw a live show many, many years ago with Roy opening for the incomparable Glen Campbell. Roy then came out and closed the show with Glen and this was one of the songs they performed. That was probably the most talent that has ever been on a stage at one time, anytime, anywhere.
Indeed. Glen Campbell is one of the most underrated musicians out there. I never saw him live but I have seen some of his recorded concert stuff, and I have been amazed!!!
Roy died in 2018. For something completely different find a video of him singing "Yesterday, when I was young", There are videos out there with him not long before he died.
Roy was a charismatic entertainer who was a master of the guitar and banjo, he was also really funny. When he was young he played off the country bumpkin character, but make no mistake he owned his craft. He also made sound effects with his guitar to tell stories
I'm 60. All the guys and gals, across all genres, that I thought were clowns and jokes, when I was growing up, were actually classics and geniuses. Wow... I could have learned and appreciated so much more if I would have just payed attention and not been such a "clown" myself. Man, that OG could play! 👴
I loved roy on hee haw in the 70's but hid it from my friends,I kept a charlie pride 8 track under my truck seat for when I was alone ,,I was stupid for not learning what they knew and trying to be the next jimi Hendrix or Eric Clapton

What a great story, thanks for sharing. He seemed to be quite a gentleman.
Great post. Thank you.
Well you were lucky enough to have been able to be up close and personal and enjoy the talent of who I personally consider the greatest guitar player to have ever lived.... I have watched Roy on TV for decades and was always amazed
His brother Dick and Dwight and sister sue were real good People good in the heart
A reporter once asked Eddie Van Halen what it was like to be the greatest guitar player of all time and he said I don’t know you’d have to ask that question to Roy Clark
Dang, even the great Eddie Van Halen don't want to claim that title huh!
Same thing happened with Jimmy Hendrix. The best guitar players in the world were mesmerized by Roy. One of the nicest men I ever had the opportunity to be around and a strong Christian.
@@GaryCason-l7s…Jimi
The same story has gone on about supposedly Jimi Hendrix said it about Phil keaggy, Eddie said it about Roy, Jimmy Page about Hendrix etc. I'm pretty sure it never happened in the name just keep changing
True!!!
Known Roy since '67. A total master on any guiter, bass, fiddle, or banjo, ever! AND, a super nice guy!
YESSS!
There are some artists that just truly love to perform, love their fans, and appreciate the artists backing them. And Roy was definitely one of them. So relaxed on stage and with the audience.
@@ronfullerton3162
Yes...
Bless his heart!
I would certainly believe Roy was a man of the Lord.
Same with me...when i take the guitar and play, bad things go away; it's a bit like that Saul/David thing..thank you, Lord!
I didn't know Roy Clark, 59 now...
Man, he got that swing also, that let music breathe...👍

Roy was a friend of my Dad's. He would stop by sometimes when he was in the area. He was the absolute best musician I have ever seen. You could always tell when he was getting as fast as he could play. His tongue would stick out. RIP Roy.
Not only a master of strings but look how much he is enjoying this.
His show in Branson in the 90s is still one of the best shows I've ever been to. He put 110 percent into it

I love Roy Clark. And he could sing. Beautiful voice, and he loved to make people laugh as he played. One of his serious songs that evokes deep thought is “Yesterday When I Was Young.” It will cast a spell on your mind.❤

"Bless their hearts!" is a Southern expression. I grew up hearing it from family, and still say it myself today.
typically "bless their heart" is a rather kind way of calling someone slow or stupid.
@@chadrushing4685 to me it more like saying "poor little thing" , and not necessarily because they are slow or stupid, but to be pitied.
Probably the most common expression upon encountering an ugly child...
@chadrushing4685 depends on the inflection used when the words are said, it doesn't always mean calling someone an idiot.

Well, I don't know if he could play the violin or upright bass (or double bass) but I never checked either
Roy Clark was such an amazing guitar player and gentleman. Playing fast on a 12 string is not easy. It blows me away that Rolling Stone didn’t have him on their list of the top 250 guitarists. Personally, I think he should be in the top 100.

He could dazzle with 6 string too!

The fact that he played that on a 12 string is insane.
Indeed! It's hard enough to play like Roy does on a 6-string, but to do that on a 12-string is just insane!
Exactly !!!!
that explains the look of pain on his face, his fingers being ripped open by those tiny strings, all that sliding, the 12 string is usually played by strumming.... i guess he has calluses on his fingers, and so quick and nimble, no fret noise, he is good, he is the best
I hate tuning 12 strings

Pure magical. Backed by a relentless spirit within him! Wonderful!
Instead of southern, it's rural, country folk thing

BLESS YOUR HEART!! It's a Southern phrase, with multiple meanings. If someone says "I lost my job or my pet died" you reply I'm so sorry, bless your heart. Someone does something stupid you insult them and add Bless Your Heart, so it doesn't sound like an insult. If someone offends or disrespects you, you say "Are you having a bad day? Well Bless Your Heart". Trust me you will know the difference by the voice inflections! Great reaction young man! Hello from Texas 🤠
Southerners aren't the only ones who say that, I'd say more accurately it's a rural thang

...I am not a country fan either, but their talent is undeniable , some really talented country players...check out some duets with Glen Campbell or Chet Atkins...even some of the contemporary country players are great, it seems most are influenced by Lynyrd Skynyrd and other southern rock bands of the 70s ( Allman Brothers, The Outlaws, Marshall Tucker, Black foot etc.) ...I am a metal guy.
He's dumber than a pile of rocks, Bless his heart. He tried his hardest, bless his heart. He's uglier than sin, bless his heart.
I saw Roy Clark in concert twice in my life. He was absolutely amazing! My favorite that he did on the 12 String was “Malagueña “
"Orange Blossom Special" - Roy Clark & Jimmy Henley is a magical performance. Roy passed away in 2018.
"for the wages of sin is DEATH, but.. the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Roy Clark was definitely a legend. Loved watching him on HeeHaw!! (Back in the late 70's thru most of the 80's)
Ricky Skaggs and Vince Gill ain't half bad either
I'm glad you have expanded your music catalog all music has something to offer and I listen to everything
I knew Roy Clark was one of the best guitar players but this is the first time I heard him play this song so awesome
Yes Roy played till he died. I absolutely love Roy Clark❤
Also on Hee Haw you want to see Roy playing Gone home..
Also covered by the Southern Rock band, The Outlaws, great rock version.
@@thewindleYep yep! That’s the version i always think of!
Burl Ives covered it first back in 1949, its awesome😊
There was a television show called Hee Haw if you want to see more of Roy Clark and him having fun playing his stringed instruments he did it there every time the show was on, grew up watching him play went to some of his concerts and shows he is the absolute best to play by far... more talented than words can capture
Hee haw was a great show
I started listening to Roy Clark in the 1970's. I finally got to see him live in Las Vegas around 2008. He was AWESOME!!!
If you want to see something that will blow your socks off, Check out his performance of Malaguena! That is one of the most breath taking performances you will ever see anyone do. He is one of the most under rated talents of all time!!!
Yes yes yes!
Yes !!!!! In the middle of malaguena he bust out with the 2 hand tapping years b4 van halen did it...
Yes that is a great performance by him. Loved that one.
@@larryjaxn6373
Yes he did.
I had the honor of sitting in the front row to see his show in Tahoe many years ago. This man amazed the entire crowd with how many instruments he totally mastered. Due to a mutual acquaintance i got to meet him in his dressing room after the show. What a humble talented a kind gentleman.
Grew up watching Roy on tv all the time. That dude could rock anything with strings. Very cool dude and a real gentleman to boot.
As a child I was amazed by Roy’s skill on guitar, he was the first person I saw that literally made it sing
When his eyes close and his tongue comes out..... You know you're about to experience perfection! Bless his heart.
Lol that sounds like my daughter's horse.
Roy was a guitar master...
Sadly he has since passed on....
RIP Roy 🎸
Roy Clark was a brilliant musician -- very underrated because most people knew him from Hee Haw. He also had a gorgeous voice.
Roy Clark was a really great musician. The guitar he was playing is an Ovation 12-string Deacon model. It is fairly rare to find these days.
Roy Clark used heavy gauge strings with high action. As a guitar player myself, I use light gauge strings with low action. His setup would have killed me. How he played like that, I'll never know, but he was great. He played many other instruments too. He was an amazing talent.
Dick Dale the same. Heavy strings.
His fingers were made of Iron
I have my Jackson set as low as it'll go and Ernie Ball 9s
@@robbarrett6002 I use 10s and the same brand.
I went way too long without playing guitar though. Now, my sweet picking sucks. I'm going to have to do a lot of practice to get back into that. Tapping is very easy though. I'm going to work on sweep tapping again as well.
Roy was amazing. Lot of people wrote him off as just a country star, but that man could do things with a guitar
Roy Clark was not only the greatest instrumentalist, but he also had an amazing voice, sang with his heart and soul. Loved him so much!
I saw a live show many, many years ago with Roy opening for the incomparable Glen Campbell. Roy then came out and closed the show with Glen and this was one of the songs they performed. That was probably the most talent that has ever been on a stage at one time, anytime, anywhere.
Two of the best.
Indeed. Glen Campbell is one of the most underrated musicians out there. I never saw him live but I have seen some of his recorded concert stuff, and I have been amazed!!!
Campbell liked the Gretsch 12 also
Was it like this Hee Haw version "Glen Campbell & Roy Clark Play "Ghost Riders in the Sky"" < ruclips.net/video/v_kbgjsuCec/видео.html>
ROY CLARK playing MALIGUANIA IS A MASTERPIECE......PULL IT UP!!! RIP ROY 🙏
Yes please
Watched him on Hee Haw as a kid. I was mesmerized by his playing. A wonderful person as well.
Roy died in 2018. For something completely different find a video of him singing "Yesterday, when I was young", There are videos out there with him not long before he died.
Such an outstanding entertainer. Saw him in person 3 times. I had the pleasure of jamming with a couple of his bandmembers thru the years.
Not only was he super talented, he was an ace showman.

I grew up with Roy Clark He was amazing. I loved all the faces he made while playing! He got in to the music, he felt it, you could tell! God Bless Roy Clark we miss you.

Back in '87 I and my girlfriend went to the country music fan fair in Nashville and I got to meet Roy and he treated me like an old friend! He was so down to earth.
