Nothing to do with "opening the banjo up for a new generation". I'm 63 and this stuff has been around for decades and decades ahead of me. You're just now noticing. Had you not been thinking you were born smarter than your elders and had been paying attention, you wouldn't be so far behind.

Mean Mary is as good Banjo as anyone in the world ever has been. Very unique approach. These 2 people really have an acoustic grove that is near perfect. This is well beond close to the bone and down into the roots, very fine piece of work.

The defining sound of Bluegrass arguably is the banjo. Never heard this tune till now. I believe her playing kept the fire going in the fireplace. The wonderful guitar playing kept the tune mellowed out.

I couldn’t agree more. Why isn’t she on tv. In arenas. On tour. They should be world famous. I grew up in the 60s and 70s on rock ‘n’ roll. But this has thrown me for a loop, I can’t stop listening.😊

Mary's gift of banjo picking is born of nature's winds blowing through the evergreens and hardwoods. Swirling it's transparent sounds through the ears of them who dare listen to the haunting sounds bursting forth from lightning quick hands ladened with the hands from God.

I would hesitate to call it bluegrass, it's more Bela Fleck meets Rodrigo and Gabriella. You DO know that the banjo was used for a very long time as a parlor instrument playing classical style music, just because there is a banjo in something certainly doesnt make it bluegrass, and playing a banjo fast also does not make it bluegrass. I'm not here to shit on anyone i promise.
I would also not call it country. Can we agree to call it folk music?
This wouldn't be out of place in the older kind of country or the country played here in Europe especially Ireland except its better.
