I watched the full hour-long celebration of Beethoven emission from Carnegie Hall. I don't know why but as soon as they showed all the faces around the world singing, I burst into tears. Real humanity shared.
It took me a while to realize that the lyrics were written in English!
1:08 I can't even describe what I'm feeling. The best piece of music ever written!
I admit that I had tears in my eyes like so many others. Humanity must conquer evil the world over.
“Songs are good. Singing bring us joy. It is the highest point in the culture that Lilims have created.” -Kaworu Nagisa
That damn near made me cry tbh
😶🙃
That’s why most of what we put on those gold records we sent to space was ……music. Music and mathematics (ironically super intertwined) are humanity’s greatest discoveries . Both are universal languages
Great
Crescendo!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Stay at Home Choir , thank you Marin Alsop , thank you Tracy K Smith and thank you to all the musicians.
Yes, I burst into tears as well. Because it was so beautiful but also because these folks are refusing to let the virus prevent music.
I am eternally grateful to participated Global ode to joy. Thanks a lot to all.
Truly magnificent. 10,000 Standing Ovations.
The honour of taking part in this will be with me for a lifetime. Thank you SAHC for this wonderful gift of perfection.
You guys did a great job !! “All men will be brothers!!!”
Happy Birthday, Ludwig!
It´s stunning. I am very happy that I got the change to be part of this wonderful project. Thank you.
Bravo to Marin Alsop, the Vienna RSO & The Stay at Home Choir! 👏👏❤️🎼🎂Happy 250th Birthday Ludwig! 🙂👍
Yeah
Louder!!!!!!!!!!
Think of all those small to medium sized orchestras that had planned Beethoven cycles, Beethoven features and celebrations for his 250th anniversary. It’s like the Nutcracker - the cash cow that puts the ballet companies in the black once per year. And they were both taken away for 2020.
Please remember the musical organizations and the musicians themselves when we start to pull out of this viral nightmare!
Absolutley needed right now.......BRAVO!!!@
Always glorious.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Truly awesome! Great job to all involved.
Thank you. Dream fulfilled💖
If people in heaven are aware of what's happening on earth, then William Howard Taft is probably smiling at this video. He promoted his vision of global unity, which we definitely have here!
Wonderful!! This is the first time I have heard the English lyrics.
Beautiful just Beautiful 🥰

I love love love this English translation. The recording brings comfort as another aggressive Russian war against the Ukraine begins.
Thank you!

Great performance as ever from SAHC. Sorry not to sing this one but,, the words are wrong as wrong can be :(
Чё
Beethoven's music is unmatched, of course, but I would much prefer the 'Come Out of Hiding and Resume Our Lives Before It's Too Late' choir.
VERY DISAPPOINTING. WHERE was the chorus we all know and love? Instead we're listening to some verse no one knows about a woman, I'm guessing Eve, "Daughter of Fresh Paradise"?
What the heck did they do to the lyrics?! Ugh.
Tracy K Smith was the poet laureate of the USA from 2017-2019 and was asked to write new lyrics for this performance.
@@irenecohen8708ah, ok... thanks.
Clearly a poet and not a lyricist.
@@KcDaugirdas IKR. “Born of ever”?! Who okayed this? They need their head scanned.
@@c0ronariu5 Highly unconventional usage. Poetically it is interesting, but I wouldn't use it for this project. There are other moments as well where the text has poetic merit but is awkward to sing. Makes you appreciate LYRICISTS who craft words to be sung.
Nudaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!
Am I the only one finding the lyrics strange?
