I wonder why they have not yet called her to conduct the New Year's Concerto at Vienna - but then that orchestra would probably be the last one to engage a woman conductor. Though she's clearly on or above the level of some of the people they have already called to conduct.
Klavierkonzert. Suchterzeugend!
I think you'll find that the solo instrument is an English Horn. They are similar in timbre, but not in size nor body, with the English Horn having a 'neck' or metal extension away from the body of the horn, rather than, like an oboe, the reed's cork sitting directly inside the instrument's body. In the video you'll see that the English Horn is much longer than an oboe, as well, when you get a good camera angle. The solo really is done nicely.
Oh Thomas. Relax and enjoy the ride. You're not as much a classical snob as you think you are. Maybe a bit jealous cause Alsop knows what the hell shes doing. Maybe you should go listen to a little rap music. Maybe more to your liking.
It's very good but Berliner is still the king. They're doing extremely well considering they're a bunch of university students tho. Comparable to the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra
Que extraordinaria Sinfónica conformada por gente JOVEN !!!!... ojala mejoren los camarógrafos para poder apreciar a la orquesta mucho MEJOR. Saludos ...
She gives time for the initial applause and asks soloists to stand. Leaves so the focus and cheering is on the orchestra, the ensemble sits so she can then come out and ask instrumentalists/sections with big parts/ features, then they (alsop and the orchestra) stand together one more time.
I think it's the best. The only possible tie would be Dudamel's movement 4 video. Other than that, I haven't heard any with this level of passion and intensity. Awesome!
@@timothyangeles4222 That one is good, but a bit calm. I really like how this version's brass explosions are intensified by the furious timpani rolls, just blasting away without restraint. Jansons' 4th movement could have been a bit more powerful, to end #9 with the glory it deserves.
One piece can be "interpreted " differently by the conductor...you are entitled to have a preference . This is my favorite Dvorak composition and my favorite performance.
She is possibly the world’s best conductor right now. Saw her in Vienna a while back. Sublime.
@Jurandy Silva she’s easily one of the best
Let's be real,if she were a man,the best orchestra s would have come calling years ago. I love her.

Alsop is a genius, as are her musicians.

Marin Alsop is a Genius.
09:37 Damnn,, this oboe solo was flawless, what an amazing performance by the oboe player, I'm in awe!!

The solo is scored for an English Horn. The soloist was Peter Morey, who plays that instrument and also the oboe.
@@a.c.2826so its an English horn? Asking for a college quiz 😭

Es algo maravilloso. Para volver a escuchar un millón de veces.
Großartig!!! Marin ohne Partitur! Sie ist einfach die Beste!!!
She is unbelievable
Inspiring way to start the day.
amo esta interpretación.
Extraordinary!
Grande interpretazione del Maestro Marin Alsop!
13:36 - 13:44 sounds like the opening notes of Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet. Anyone else?
Yeah I've always thought this. :)
I graduated from peabody. I'm so proud of peabody!
goood~~ timpani is very nice ~ thinks kubelik's symphony no9

Very good! I'm impressed! better than the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Lol.

I hope she does the first five too. They may not be excellent compared to Rowicki but her 6, 7, 8 and 9 are very beautiful and heavenly!

Hardest working conductor I’ve known….. do your thing 🎶
Can someone explain what's happening at the end? Why did she leave then come back do some random stuff then leave again then come back

Basically you keep doing that until the applause is over.
The timpany sound way too hard, almost like gunshots. I think that's up to the sound engineer.

I think it's enjoyable, maybe it's not the best but still fine
you do realize this is a student orchestra from Peabody, right?

@@jaymian2257 You should check out Mariss Jansons' Dvorak 9 with the Bavarian Radio Symphony.

OMDCC
I don't like it. The execution is brusque, muscular. Not many musicians are up to it. It's a hasty, approximate Dvorak.
