  • On the first conducting course on the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme, Marin Alsop gives a masterclass to Karen Ní Bhroin, who conducts Act I, No.13 ‘Dance of the Knights’ from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet.
The Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme was founded over 40 years ago by Benjamin Britten and Peter Pears to provide high-level performance training for the world’s best emerging professional musicians.
Residential projects and masterclasses take place throughout the year in the beautiful surroundings of the Suffolk Coast where Britten lived and worked. Participants benefit from an exceptional campus of performance spaces and studios, which has grown around the iconic Snape Maltings Concert Hall, home of the Aldeburgh Festival.

I love her animated conducting style - it’s flows well and helps the overall performance.

Are those clear curved stands to help the musicians listen ahead of them instead of everything being drowned out by the instruments behind them?? That's genius and I'm so jealous I didn't have something like that during my full orchestra days when the brass would sit behind the violins 😑

nice people, really nice people but none of this can work in the real it lacks of musical charge and precision the great young orchestra does not reflect this reality and then too many words..of all🙏

My friend she is still learning. This video is 5 years old and I'm sure she has come a long way in that time alone. I think she will be a great conductor.

But she is learning, wtf? No conductors became good as Bernstein, Abaddo or Toscani in days.
