    Really interesting. I think I recall you saying that there are heaters to clear the cameras in winter. Since the car can sense precipitation through the cameras I assume it adjusts how autopilot controls the car in response to conditions. Thanks Trevor

      Factually YES, Tesla Autopilot is Great. however CR fudged the Ratings to give Cadilliac a higher rating, even though its Autopilot Does Not Work. and Downgraded Tesla AP v9 to #2.

    • @d1oftwins

      In the rating the Cadillac was good at nagging but not at actual self driving. ;)
      Why do I need to be constantly nagged when I am only able to use the super cruise 10% of the time?

    Bad, irresponsible test. Don’t like.Tesla will see many bad things in your log and decide to disable you EA for good. Maybe you should check what happens if you try to drive with three wheels, then two. And what happens if you pull the AI chips. In my opinion you have not proven anything.

    • @d1oftwins
      @d1oftwins 5 лет назад +10

      Tesla will absolutely not disable his AP permanently, this is just nonsensical statement. Dirt , snow and ice can cover the cameras as well. Such a system must be able to detect faults and sensor failures and be able to inform the driver of decreased AP performance or even not activate the AP at all. Also I don't know why you have to digress to exaggerated comparisons about safety that have nothing to do with what is done here, it adds nothing to your argument. And lastly the video shows indeed some information and prove. It shows that the AP system has a degree of robustness, it works with front cameras only and it works in conjunction with the RADAR. And it shows that there are 8 cameras active and in use as it is shown bay the cars in the schematic 360 view, or more the lack of those cars in certain angles.
      On a personal note: you sir must be fun at parties! Have a nice day.

      Model 3 Owners Club Thanks for your response. Not trying to be funny. Will try to be serious from here on. My point: not every question needs an answer. I think covering cameras for a test by a trained non professional (who is trying to be funny) is not a good idea. But hey, go right ahead. I do like your other v9 stuff, especially since in Europe we still have to be patient.

      +Theo Schijf
      _"My point: not every question needs an answer. "_
      I would rather say not every person needs an answer to every question, but there are questions that at least one person wants answers to. The Tesla community is curious and they definitely want answers to the limitation fo the AP system and how it reacts if the cameras are blocked. I guess I just disagree with you that this question needed no answer. You don't want answer, well that is OK, but don't deny them for others.
      _"I think covering cameras for a test [...] is not a good idea."_
      There was no safety issue, I assume that is what you are concerned of. Trevor was fully aware of the limitations he put on the AP and he was highly concentrated to intervene. *He drove practically the car himself the whole time.* There is no more risk involved than driving with an engaged AP on country or rural roads which the AP is _currently_ not optimized for. The older AP version 1.0 doesn't even have the side and rear cameras and drives only with a front camera and a RADAR like Trevor did with only front cameras on his AP 2.0. Should AP 1.0 not be allowed anymore? Even on highways and interstates (which AP is for) you still have to pay attention at all times. I don't know what issues you have with this test, you are concerned for no reason, at least you didn't explain why the test was not a good idea.

    • @theoschijf8155
      @theoschijf8155 5 лет назад

      d1oftwins Thanks for your response. It is all a matter of where you draw the line. Blocking the sensors, can be done too? Blocking the radar? See what happens. I draw the line at blocking the cameras. If ‘everyone’ wants to know how many cameras are used ... why not ask Elon Musk? Personally I am interested in how the system function with all cameras and sensors uncovered, cannot get enough of that.
