The camera is for liability reasons. In case somthing happens with your car then that mean Tesla will have footage to cover these ass in a lawsuit .. so idk 🤷♂️ are Tesla drivers Spied on ?

If a Tesla drives past you or is just parked on the street, it can still be used as a surveillance platform.

I think it invades people’s privacy in some states in the US. I’m sure Tesla owners signed something so it’s not. Anyway I think it should be used for sentry mode / break ins. That’s just my option.

I know this is an old video so not sure if it has an update. My new Tesla uses the camera inside for Dog Mode. Not only is the temperature regulated, but I can see how my dog is doing when in this mode and I'm away.
I wonder if dog freaks would break your window anyway. To rescue your dog.

The best way to monitor what people are doing... No way do i agree with it if it is REQUIRED i will be selling my model 3 as well... Sticking to the camera cover for now
It would be useful in the event of an accident, getting pulled over unjustly, checking up on pets, any record of damage from passengers like if you’re an Uber driver as well.

I order 2021 model 3 , should be here for Christmas. I also have GLK Mercedes, does have camera and sway detection to check if you falling asleep on a wheel. A alarm will alert you when in those situations. That would be a great for Telsa a great safety feature.

Hey Robert, I just ordered a 32gb flash drive for sentry mode and I got a notification that’s it’s too small.
Why did this pop up?
@Gabe, I get this question often from my viewers. Did you format the flashdrive using Tesla? Sometime if you do a hard reformating using your computer (right click, format and uncheck "quick format"), it starts working again. 32GB won't provide too much space but it should at least work for sometime before having to delete your footage. Tesla also automatically deletes some of your old footage to save space.
@@ShivaSapkota I followed roberts video on how to format the stick on windows for the tesla. Although I believe I saw an updated video of his, and you can do it now from your actual tesla right?
The message is there but I still notice that videos are being stored and Im still able to use sentry mode.
@@gabeagex yes you can now format it from your Tesla. I guess since it is working fine, perhaps Tesla is just warning you that you could potentially run out of storage since it is just 32 gb?
Shiva Sapkota I suppose so, on Roberts previous video he linked a 32gb flash drive so I went ahead and purchased it thinking it would be sufficient. I think it will be , but I will need to clear space more often. Probably should’ve went ahead with a 64 tho
@@gabeagex you can pickup a SSD from Kingston for a reasonable price. This is what I use: amzn.to/3nGDDz8. You also do need an adapter for this: amzn.to/38voDy2. This SSD has worked great for me for the last 2 years.

Wonder if the mic inside the car could be used to detect if an emergency vehicle siren was close along with the outside cameras for FSD???

I think it’ll also be used for full self driving capabilities as a liability buffer between tesla and the driver in the event of an accident.

I really wanted a tesla but the more i research into it the less I want to get one. With a tesla it doesn't seem like you really own it and any features can be turned off anytime. Get onto a fender bender? Supercharger disabled

There is one more hidden camera behind the mirror, use flash light to check it carefully and you’ll find it at about 1/3 position from the right side of the mirror. It’s much more covert than the one above the mirror.
Not a camera it's a photo receptor for the dimmer.

This camera is most definitely on, and doesn't benefit in any way. It only nags more when its uncovered while in auto-steer. So that idea that it nags less is not true now in 2023...

If this camera was in any other union auto maker vehicle, I would be worried. But with Elon butting heads with the elites of the world, I’m not worried.

Don't you mean right above the rear view mirror, not below. How did nobody else notice this error? I think anybody I have met who knows about the cameras outside, knows about the one. All the Tesla employees mention it when describing the car and Tesla does as well.
I want to be able to control it from the app on my phone. I will probably put a sticker over it but then if my car is ever stolen won't be able to view whoever is in it.

Invasion of privacy but I also think it's a brilliant idea. I was recently filmed by a tesla. I knew nothing of the camera system in one and queried why his lights had flashed a couple of times while I was loading my shopping into the boot of my car. The owner explained and was kind enough to show me inside his vehicle. Wow. I was so impressed. Yes, an invasion of privacy but also a feeling of security.
