Great Vid 👍🏻. I’m troubleshooting now. Started with fuel filter. Moved on to spark plug. Now I’m replacing the fuse. Cub Cadet 1040. I have power to the lights and dashboard. But that click is coming from the backside of the seat. If not the fuse. I’m thinking solenoid next. It just quit on me as I was mowing. Shut off like now. Thanks again for the information.
Replaced the solenoid, it was toast. Replaced the starter, it was bad. Still getting a click, but a shake and a shimmy when I turn the key. Like it wants to turn over. Any advice? I’d like to sell this unit and move on. Appreciate you 👍🏻
Great video! Question, sorry if missed you explaining what causes the "growl," sir? My starter is "growling" when I turn key. Is that a starter motor spinning with not enough power from battery?
T bone, i have a 4 post solenoid in my ariens riding mower. The key switch is connected to the post with the battery. I have the 2 small clip wires, 1 being ground what is the other? When i touch test light to them i get nothing from either wire? Solenoid and starter both tested good and wont start
Great video! Question - battery is good, so when I turn the key, I get NO clicking. However, if I keep turning the key off and on, over and over, eventually the Engine will turn over. I've replaced the key switch, the PTO switch, and checked all of the safety switches, but no change. After watching your video, I realized when I turn the key, I don't hear any clicking at all. Could it be a bad Solenoid? If good, it should click, correct? Any idea what might be going on here? Thanks so much for helping us all out with your videos!
@@TamlaMacklin I ended up replacing the solenoid, and so far, I think that did the trick! I also replaced the entire carburetor. Extremely affordable on Amazon. Now, it starts and runs like a beast!
Hey T-bone, question… My mower is doing the click. So I replaced the battery, replaced the starter and replaced the starter solenoid but it’s still doing the same thing. I followed your steps, I traced voltage to the starter when I turn the key over. All good. But still nothing. You got any suggestions? I would assume since I have power at the starter I connected up the new solenoid correctly? I don’t see the flywheel trying to spin. So I don’t think it’s seized. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
He's right ,, if u take out the spark plug and gas comes out of the hole,,, don't crank it over with the plug wire dangling,,, the spark will explode that gasoline,,,, happened to me this morning, burnt my arm, almost burnt down my garage....good advice!!!!! Also burnt up all my headlight wires...melted 😮

My first thought is the main jet in carburetor may be clogged. In most cases on cheaper pressure washers it's more cost effective to replace carburetor.
I replaced the solenoid but still does the click. Tested power from battery (new) 13 volts. On other side of solenoid when I turn the key I get 5volts. Same when I check at the starter same 5 volts on a cub cadet xt1 Tried bench test of the starter direct to battery and worked fine. Any ideas?
I don’t have a click at all. The mower will fire sometimes and sometimes does nothing. Battery is good. I’m thinking it’s the starter or some safety switch somewhere. Or maybe a grounding issue. At this point I’m just thinking it doesn’t want to cut the grass today

No sir Wade, not relay. Try turning flywheel by hand. If it moves partially possible hydro locked or compression release issue. I have videos on those issues. Can't remember how they are titled, but compression release is covered in cam replacement video

First make sure you can turn engine over by hand by flywheel. If it move freely, sounds like starter problem or bad ground. Check starter on machine like T-bone shows in our last video. Good luck!
Good info but you didn't mention possibility No 100 of why there is only a click and motor wont turn over................
