    Hello, my crafty fam! And If you're new to my channel, welcome! I've been through a lot in my life. I have even shared a few of those things with you guys over the years. Because of that, people are always asking me where they can donate to help me out. That truly warms my heart and although I may be struggling, I'm okay. I thank God I have all the basic needs. I have food, clean drinking water, clothes, a roof over my head, and access to medical care if needed but, not everyone has access to these things. I was homeless at one point in my life and I know how critical having these necessities are. If you would like to donate to me, I encourage you to give to someone who's really in need instead. I'm happy to announce that my videos now have donation buttons to charities that I think can help those less fortunate than us. I have checked these charities out myself and have even donated to them. I do NOT receive anything from these donations. It all goes to charity. If you enjoy my content, I hope you consider donating. God bless!

      I, too, have been homeless and know what an empty stomach feels like. I also help out a couple who are " hurting ". I do love the fact that you advocate giving to others less fortunate. Knowing this makes me love your creations even more. So, thank you for sharing this with me, and I will be looking for more of your art 🎨 as I now can put a soul, your love, and heart into your creations! Namaste Ruth

    I have used my bottles in my yard with stakes and the bottle inverted among my plants, trees and bushes so I think that I will be going outside and gather my bottles and paint them like you demonstrated and maybe take them back outside. Thanks

      Hello, Deb, these are not waterproof so that might not be a good idea unless you have a sealer that can withstand the weather. :)

      Deb Morris you can weather proof it by using a marine top coat, can't remember the name but it's used to protect things from rain.

    I have to tell you that you explained everything great. And your voice is easy to listen to. You are confident in your explaining the steps. I did this last year for our fair. I got first place but the video I watched made me have to figure a lot out myself. ronnie m wanted to know where to get the napkins, anywhere like target walmart dollar tree, places like that. Thanks for reminding me how to do this and do it the easy way. Here I go again to the county fair. Thanks!
    I'll keep watching and you keep making, sounds like a plan.

      Hello 👋 and thank you! Makes me super happy when my video's are helpful! I got my napkins on Etsy but the seller has sold out. If you google Purple rose paper napkins, you'll find them. Or you could go directly to Etsy and put that same thing in that search bar. Have fun at the fair!! 🤗

    I'm having trouble getting the paint to crackle. I'm using generic white glue, not Elmer's. I put down a layer of glue striaght to the glass for the see-through effect. Then I layer the Deco Art acrylic paint on top of the glue. The paint job looks pretty and mixed, but there really aren;t any crackles. I tried using heat from a hair dryer. I tried using fans for cool air. Any suggestions?

    • @DIYNoNeedToCry
      @DIYNoNeedToCry  6 лет назад +3

      Celtic Art Store Hello, make sure to lay the paint over it lightly and don't keep going over it. Try doing thinner layers of paint then try thicker layers of paint and see what happens. Sometimes it's the paint or it could be the glue. Make sure to put air on it immediately after adding the paint. You want the glue to start drying and crack the paint. Keep trying, you'll get it. It has a little bit of a learning curve but I can assure you it's not hard. I've had tons of people do this method with no problem. Hope you get... happy crafting! 🤗

    • @celticartstore6678
      @celticartstore6678 6 лет назад

      I will try different techniques. Another video suggested wood glue, which is more tacky. I'm just using a blended painting technique that looks great, but does add a bit more paint than usual. Thanks!

    • @celticartstore6678
      @celticartstore6678 6 лет назад +2

      I'm getting better results. Because I am using a bit of paint for the mixed-color effect, I found that adding more glue helps. It also helps to let the glue get a little tacky before adding the paint. I do this with a quick blast of low heat from my blow dryer.

    • @celticartstore6678
      @celticartstore6678 6 лет назад +5

      I used your glue crackle technique with success. To make my project washable - I'm coating wine jugs for pirates - I coated the crackle effect and decoupaged pirate decorations with 3 coats of dishwasher-safe Mod Podge. Normally, this medium takes 28 days to cure, but I baked it at 325 degrees F (160 C) for 40 minutes. This cured the Mod Podge, making the jug washable. The crackle effect - acrylic paint on glue - did not melt and the tissue paper pirate decoration did not burn. I believe the trick is to thoroughly coat the bottle to seal it. 3 coats is pretty essential, allowing 2 hours of drying time between coats. I put a freshly coated jug in between 2 fans to dry it - which I also use to make the crackle effect. I'm not going to test these jugs in the dishwasher, but I could hand-wash them with soap and warm water with no problem. It's also important to leave clear glass anywhere that will be in contact with food, so my crackle effect begins about 2" below the top of the bottle which leaves a clear neck. Look for Erin Rado or Lady Anne's Chest on Facebook to see my results. Good luck to anyone who wants to try this out! I'll do wine glasses next.

    This is the first time I've watched your channel. You do a great job of teaching.
    The first time I crackled something was on the roof of a doll house I'd built. The affect of crackling the house was really cool. I was taught using "hide glue" (as in rendered from horses "hide") which furniture makers and upholstered use on furniture. From what I remember hide glue is clear and thick. The sequence is the same. Base coat/hide glue/top coat. The cracking happens when the water in the paint touches the hide glue and causes the cracking. Oil base paint would not cause it to crack because there's no water. Acrylic paint is water based.
    The cracking with hide glue happens while you're still painting. The cracking is different from Elmer's glue. I liked the cracking affect with hide glue much more. It causes much more cracks that are smaller and consistent throughout the piece. It's really cool.
    I like the way the bottles turned out. The decoupage was a nice added touch! 👍

      Awww, Thank you for the awesome feedback!! To be honest, there're a few reasons why other RUclipsrs don't. First is time, it takes a lot and I mean A LOT of time to create the craft and to have to edit, in this amount of detail, is tons of work, trust me lol! I do it because I really want people to learn but because of this I can't push out a lot of content and I don't get the numbers to match the amount of work I put in. So a lot of other RUclipsrs don't bother or don't have the time. A second reason is that a lot of RUclipsrs don't want to really give away to much as they are afraid that another RUclipsr will use their ideas/technique without giving the proper credit to where credit is due. It's happened to me multiple times LOL! I would love for my channel to grow more for the amount of work I put into it but I rather have a close crafty community that is learning. I have been blessed with some amazing supporters and I couldn't be happier. Again, thank you for the awesome and encouraging feedback! Truly makes it worth it when someone mentions it! God bless! 🙏💖🤗

    Hi, I really like your videos and tips. I never knew you could get the crackle effect with Elmer's Glue mixed with water and dried with a fan or blow dryer on cool. I am definitely inspired to try new ideas for my crafting from watching you. Keep up the good work! We women have to stick together!!

      Out of curiosity what made you decide to use glue as a means of crackling your project as opposed to a crackle medium?

      I first saw this crackling on wood and I thought it would be neat to make it on a bottle. I then saw someone do this method on wood and I wondered if it could be done on a bottle... so I tried. 🤗
