Impressive to finally see a proper level being ported, for feedback sake, there's a little too much fog and controls do need some refining, but otherwise I hope you can continue working on it!
That's runs really smoothly (I know there's lack of enemies etc) the amount of mist on Road to Nowhere is more than the PS as well from what I can remember and the fact it's still not chugging is damned good. Great showcase as always Frogbull!
I can tell this is very early but the graphics do look perfectly transferred from the PlayStation. I will say my biggest criticism is Crash's weight and speed. Crash moves at a set speed from the get go without an need to build it up. The Homebrew shows him feeling heavy with a high jump doesn't look fun to use. I'm no programmer by any means, take what I say with a grain of salt, I know Sega Saturn stuff is hard to work from what I've heard with but I feel Crash's Weight and speed should be adjusted to try to match that of the Playstation original.
I would love to cover this in its entirety when completed. Do I have to become a Patreon to become a game tester? I wouldn't mind opening my wallet for something of this nature, cuz this is absolutely amazing! I don't even have the words brother... My group would go absolutely nuts over this incredible port!
Does patreon support get access to the demo? I help with a retro channel and would love to feature it by way of MiSTer. Excellent work! I've done some assembly on Saturn and it's mindbending. Post-execute calls for the Hitachi chips are so weird. I respect the commitment to getting new stuff onto the platform a ton!
The Saturn is a console with an architecture that differs a lot from the PS1 I will probably take inspiration from the decompilation project, especially for the controls (if possible) but I couldn't directly port the PS1 version to Saturn 😉
That's some really cool stuff. Have you considered something like a King's Field or Shadow Tower conversion? Curious how the Saturn would handle a, mostly, fully polygonal first person dungeon crawler.
Ja vi história parecida no passado!
Would you be interested in Crash Team Racing? They have a massive decomp effort and partial PC port, they could use all the help they can get, and you're certainly an expert!
Woah! If you want to support me, you can do it on Patreon www.patreon.com/Frogbull 😉
This is really impressive work! Will we ever see Goldeneye on the Saturn?
Oye Frogbull Porque Leí por Sega Retro Another possible method is some kind of software transparency approach, programming the CPU with software code
The transparency is looking so good for the Saturn!
mas o Saturno não pode fazer transparência! 😂
@@Frogbull55kkk boa
Running smoothly now

Yeah, the fog is a little overbearing, but I know very little about Crash, so maybe it's supposed to look that way.
This engine would be great for a saturn port of Sonic adventure
I'd like to see Tenchu or Bushido Blade!
I second Tenchu! I'm pretty confident that the Saturn could handle a competent port of that one.
1:45 the stage that nightmares are made of, now on SEGA Saturn! 🤣
Keep going, the progress of your ports is very interesting to follow!
Forget monsters under the bed; the real nightmare was those bridge levels 🤣
VDP2 Fog! ♥
Beautiful, extremely beautiful the Fog effect 🌫️ Bella Frogbull
Thanks! VDP2 Powwwwhoaaaaa!
VDPs2 Thanks Thank you so much

Transparency!
Amazing! Controls look rough though. Would be a dream come true to see this completed.

WOAH!!!
Thank you for using vdp2 in smart ways! That fog is so cool!!!
I have had a sega saturn for years I had one game I lost which was Kroc now I have something to use it for LOL
THIS IS AMAZING!!!!!
Obrigado!
Bandicoot Hill
Crash Smokes Weed Everyday 😁
These tech demos are very impressive. Are you planning a full game for the Saturn any time soon?
Dang Frogbull did it again! some real Sega Saturn love.
Great stuff! Any chance we get to see the first level? (Even if the frame rate takes a bit of a hit)
You did it again!
Impressive as always! :)
This is looking so great 😍😍😍 Congratulations bro!!!
What an awesome work! Congrats
Impresionante trabajo!!!
Wow!
Cool man
Sega4life!
Wow this is amazing
Woah!
love it.

HOW did you make this look BETTER than the PS1 version?

10/10
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Dude how are you able to port not only gta 3 but also crash
dont you have a job
very cool
I'm late in my pro work 🤣
Show 👍
Genius! By the way, the Fog seems more inmersive than in the original!
Maybe a bit too much, but the bridge levels are all about difficulty 😈🤣
@@Frogbull55 That's impressive for sure... VDP2 layer?
@@slashrose3287 Yeah the fog is handle by the VDP2
Nice! now bring Mario 64 to the Saturn
They are decompiling the PS1 crash 1, wouldn't it be quicker and easier to port the PS1 version when they do than to redo it from scratch for Saturn?
The Saturn is a console with an architecture that differs a lot from the PS1
I will probably take inspiration from the decompilation project, especially for the controls (if possible) but I couldn't directly port the PS1 version to Saturn 😉
But can you run on the rope? Ha ha ha
If only I had known this as a child 😆
Lol, I also managed to find out on my own 🤣
Sonic's Ass for the Sega Saturn.
That's some really cool stuff. Have you considered something like a King's Field or Shadow Tower conversion? Curious how the Saturn would handle a, mostly, fully polygonal first person dungeon crawler.
Thanks but I've already started too many projects, I need to slow down a bit, especially now with GTA 3 Dreamcast which wasn't planned at all 🤣
@@Frogbull55 Everything at your own pace! Keep up the fantastic work!
I'd love to see Mischief Makers on the Saturn!
Cool and all, but none of these are ever gonna get finished for the general public to enjoy.
How do I download the game?
Ja vi história parecida no passado!
👁👁
what about vdp1 lack of fillrate,is that the reason why the framerate is lower than on ps1?
how did you get the aku aku theme in high quality?
Is this a decomp/source port or a new engine?
It's based on my MGS Saturn that is based on XL2's Z-Treme Engine
Did you cheat and use redbook audio? Crash music is supposed to loop cleanly.
Would you be interested in Crash Team Racing? They have a massive decomp effort and partial PC port, they could use all the help they can get, and you're certainly an expert!
