So many Sony games Frogbull is providing us ,coming into Saturn Resident Evil 2 and Tomb Raider 2 are the ones - in a parallel universe these still came to Saturn like they was always suppose to
Yea some people were easily fooled back in the day, when I first played it I was like I see what they're doing here. Linear, on rails bendy levels, so they could make the small bubble you can see on screen detailed. I wasn't impressed.
Crash Bandicoot was a game series on the Sony PlayStation that really showed off the hardware’s capabilities. It was impressive back then and is still impressive today.
If you're wondering why crash bandicoot isn't a PlayStation exclusive game no more it was because naughty dog entertainment got into an argument with universal studios cuz they was working 20-hour days with universal getting more money for each crash game while naughty dog only got a fraction of the cash but when they told universal after crash bandicoot 3 they weren't going to be renewing their contract they got angry and pissed so the team and naughty dog moved on to go to Sony to create amazing games like Jak and daxter uncharted in The last of Us
I remember getting a pirate copy of this before it was officially released from the legendary Barrowlands, it turned out to be an early beta release with a few differences (world maps etc and all levels unlocked) probably still have the disc somewhere, most likely available to download these days 😊
What an incredible piece of work this is! Looks legit, what a level to demo so frustrating as only crash seems to deliver hahaha dev is really showing some great work already 🏴😃👍
Iirc frogbull was using XL2's publicly released sonic z-treme engine for this (which is going back to before the later iterations of hellslave and ireel). If you speak to frogbull at any point it would be interesting to learn more about the development of this demo.
Did you guys try running along the ropes like you were able to on the PS just to assist with completing the stage so you can see if Frogbull HAS put a special thing at the end? (Unless of course the ropes havent been programmed yet) It looks good. Be great to see how this progresses.
@@MrSamPhoenixWe’ll show other levels as and when Frogbull expands on the build. Keep in mind, he’s making this from the ground up, essentially recreating Crash on Saturn.
This is an incredible display of technical prowess, but man, that jumping is really off. It's like Crash has ultra high gravity on when jumping, making him land far too suddenly. Very interesting to see where this goes, though!

On your Fenrir menu, press Start and ensure artwork is enabled. On your SD card, create a folder called “Screenshots” if one doesn’t already exist. Artwork must be jpg format and 128x96 pixels. For best quality, create a blank image that’s 512x 384 and when exporting scale the image down to 128x96. The artwork jpg in the screenshots folder must be named the exact same as the folder the game is stored in. So if your screenshot is called Sega Rally.jpg but your game folder is called Sega Rally Championship, it won’t work. There are also screenshot packs out there to download by other creators if you look around. Hope this helps. - James.
Clearly not a porting job and more a ground up rebuild; but clearly that's what it takes when going to such a different (and complicated) system that uses quads XD
I'd love to know if this guy is converting code and porting this over to the saturn or if he's doing a great job of eye-balling things and creating his own stuff. Surely he's porting this. He's clearly doing a great job and showing how much more expansive the Saturn library could've been if they weren't muscled out by Sony!
I'd love to see Tenchu, Bushido Blade, Einhander, RC De Go, Incredible Crisis or R4 ported to the Saturn. Mario 64 or Mischief Makers would really be cool to see too!
So the same guy is trying to handle programming GTA 3 on Sega Dreamcast, Metal Gear Solid on Sega Saturn but also Final Fantasy VII and now Crash Bandicoot also on Sega Saturn? I understand that he seems genuine in trying to use his knowledge to what seems like handle three games but sorry this seems rather scattered. It just makes more sense to focus on ONE game at a time and require the use of the 4MB RAM Cartridge for these games to enhance the overall gameplay experience because the additional 4MB RAM Cartridge can help in cutting down all the constant loading off CD-ROM and also boost texture quality and overall efficiency of the Sega Saturn native hardware.
@@SEGAGuys I think by playable he meant the controls and physics. Crash movement, especially jumping, looks too stiff and awkward in this version. It's an interesting proof of concept but so far it doesn't look great to play.
Cute but not impressive - any console should be able to handle a linear, bendy, corridor runner like Crash. I'd say even the 32x could - Crash is designed to keep draw distance low, much like Sonic's hub area, having camera positioned at certain angles, and walls designed to keep the draw distance low. Port something like a Banjo Kazooie level, like the initial hub world with the towering walls or even one of its simpler ones like Treasure Trove Cove, complete with swimming and flying as there will be no need to draw massive surrounding walls and then I'll be impressed.
The Saturn has more power than the PlayStation so it definitely could. Memory patency is the only thing PlayStation has over it, and that difference is negligible. People like to sell it short, especially in the west.
@@The_Prizessin_der_Verurteilung That's right! And the only really bad thing about the Saturn was only that it was difficult to program games. But literally 100% of PS1 games could have run on it.
