The song that plays at 11:03 is “Clocktowers Beneath the Sea” from A Hat in Time. I note this at that point in the video but several people have asked so I figured I’d leave a pinned comment here too.
Apologies for perhaps bothering, but the music that plays at 9:15, may I ask which one is it? Sounds rad, guess it's perhaps a rock/metal remix of some Crash tune? But I'm not sure.
If you did Crash 2 or Warped, you have to include the cheese way to speedrun the game by jumping on a crate plus a respawning enemy over and over again in the Snow Go and Bone Yard levels to collect 25 crystals instantly and bonk Cortex. That was such a glitchy and stupid way to speedrun it.
There's not much to say with the Coloured Gem Paths in those games. The Warp Room system gives you a lot of freedom for the level order, and in Crash 2, every Gem Path occurs either after its respective Coloured Gem, or in the same Warp Room as it. There are still some revisits though. Turtle Woods, Hang Eight and Plant Food all have two Gems that are mutually exclusive with each other, though you can still just die and restart the level with one Gem already collected. Additionally, Snow Go, Road to Ruin and Air Crash all have backdoor entrances unlocked with Secret Exits, but the former two can be done from the front door with some Slide Spin Jumps.
Crash Bandicoot speedrunning stories need to be shared here, there's like almost no videos talking about how people can break games on the PS1 through speed running, but im glad to see that turn around. CTR 1999 is one of those games with a rich history of skips and discoveries and it needs to be talked about more.
From what Tebt’s told me, sub-1 is unfortunately just out of reach at the moment. A 1:00 flat is definitely possible though. I’d love to see something get found that pushes it to 59 tho.
It's also the most underutilized Coloured Gem besides Orange. Used for only one level in Crash 1 and requires a Coloured Gem to collect it, used only for the All Coloured Gems path in Crash 2 and nothing else, unlocks the joke character in CTR, and absent from XS, N-Tranced and Crash 4.
0:35 - I wouldn't put the "spoiler" that only 3 levels are required so early in the video, especially considering the suspense on 11:43. (Maybe starting the video with a question would be another option? xD) But still, great video! Looking forward to more videos from you. :P
Wow! I love speedrunning and I absolutely adore the classic Crash games, and this kind of deep dive into a game I love is just what I needed today. Just saw you've also got a new vid on Crash 3, can't wait to watch it on my day off this weekend! Great stuff!
Put this video on during the drive to school, was a good way to enjoy it. I started my first playthrough of crash 1 yesterday so I'll def rewatch to get a better understanding of it, good stuff man 👍
Found your channel from that devs react to Crash 4 being sped run, I've seen some of your other content like ranking crash games & whatnot, but this is your best by far, I've been rewatching over & over the past few days & seeing the view count & sub count go up & up for you is well deserved! As another comment said, I'd love to see you do this thing for the other crash games, even crash bash (although Tharixer already did that one haha)
Would be hard to top Ricky’s Bash vid for sure, and I’m quite vocally a hater of that game anyway lmao. But I won’t deny the speedrun scene for it is fascinating, so maybe a video on 200% or All Trophies could be a thing in the future. :3
Hmm i have discovered that Jungle Rollers skip when i was 5-6 years old, it was the easiest one. Also remember that i tried to do the same in the Great Gate, but failed. Crash 1 was too hard to complete it on 100% for a small kid
3:38 - YES! I *knew* I had done this as a kid but had no wy to prove it to anyone and could never do it again. Eventually, I started to wonder if it was just my imagination. Good to know it's actually possible.
For me the Japanese version of Crash 1 has an "unfair" advantage over the American and the European versions in terms of speedrunning the game w/ 100% completion due to less backtracking.
@@NoLuckJKMY807 Although, for a regular "take your time" playthrough, I think I'd rather play my usual PAL version with the regular backtracking because I kind of prefer the levels being in the order I'm used to and I think the green gem fits The Lost City better. Maybe it's just nostalgia though.
Japanese Crash 2 is actually slower for 100%, as the percentage distribution is different and also includes getting the extra lives from Polar in Warp Room 2.
The Japanese version of Crash 2 does in fact require the ten lives from Polar for 100% completion. That’s one of many reasons it’s the slowest version for speedruns.
Cortex power and the lily pad was the sole reason why I quit the crash 1 runs. Not to mention the D/pad engraved in your fingers after a few hours. But, I still play casual and show off some tricks when bored :D
As a guy who loves the original PS1 trilogy, with Crash 2 PS1, being one of my favorite games of all time, I love seeing anything I can about Crash speedrun history. Id love to see skips of 2 and 3. I also saw an excellent video on Crash 1's 100% history, id love to see that for 2 and 3.

As someone that's recently 100% the game, the PS1 version, this video has been quite interesting Wish I knew some of them tricks shown here before I decided to like complete Crash 1 for the heck of it and to challenge myself, heh
Wow perfect timing I just finished replaying crash 1 it’s one of my favorite games I can’t really speed run but I can finish it 100% in like 3 or 4 hours
Shoutout to Kojiro as a fellow brazilian, happy to see a proeminent brazilian in speedrunning communities! Nice video man, you can do any of these skips on the Nsane trilogy?
The old method of Great Gate where you jump on the side of the end of level platform is possible in NST, and thankfully much easier to do than it was in the original game. Cortex Power skip exists but is done completely differently; you abuse mask damage/invincibility to jump from a hot pipe onto the ceiling out of bounds and walk across to the blue gem path. You can then easily jump out using scenery. A skip for Jungle Rollers was recently found but it’s very difficult and not currently used. Upstream and Rolling Stones currently do not have skips, and because all versions of NST use the normal Gem distribution, you can’t skip the revisit to Road to Nowhere either.
I really doubt a Native fortress skip will be found. Those red gems are so high up and the cloud platforms are even higher. But those other skips are just sheer genius
When i was a kid playing the great gate i remember accidentally jumping on the teleporter and not finishing the level and then proceeding to brute force it for hours until i got it. If only i knew Edit: Also managed to get on the top of the level. Kidme was wild
I played crash and i love speedruns in general, because they are one of the achievements of ultimate skill and passion. It's like playing a music sheet. I have never seen a crash speedrun, but i loved every second of this video. You gave me a culture. May i ask if also the remake of crash is considered as a valid speedrun ground within this community?
Absolutely. The N. Sane Trilogy is very different from the PS1 games but still has plenty of history to it. Some videos on those games are on my list to make as well
I always attempted the jungle roller one, but i've never did it with invincibility, sometimes we have the Solution in front of our eyes and we don't see it. Once i casually got the 2nd one and i was never able to replicate it, something similar was possible on road to nowhere, but it's useless due to the other Red gem path
Ain’t gon lie : I wish crash 1 the gem ending would need you to have all of them instead of 20 and in the n sane trilogy if you get 27 gems there would be a moving gem unlocking the ability to use a hover board like Cortex does and for the gem ending in crash 3 would make cortex harder to beat and requiring every single gem
It does require all of them in the original; you need specifically 20 Clear Gems, which you can only get by also having every Colored Gem. It’s only in the remake where you need 20 Gems total, and that’s only due to a glitch.
The song that plays at 11:03 is “Clocktowers Beneath the Sea” from A Hat in Time.

Are you planning on doing one of these for all the main crash games? I'd love to see that.
I have some specific games planned for the future, but nothing in a set order. Just whatever stories I find worth making a video for.
