Not surprised to have R&C1 Kerwan on the first place, it really is probably the best level in terms of art style; there's a reason this was the level they chose for the R&C1 Demo Disc.
Loved this video! Not my kind of list at all anyway haha, my fav 10 R&C planets in no special order: - Boldan - Kerwan - Damosel - Koros - Todano - Thyran Asteroid - Novalis - Blarg Station - Daxx - Tabora Keep up the great content! I would love one on trilogy weapons :)
I definitely think you're in the minority for forgetting the Obani moons, the concept of having a planet so small that you can explore it in its entirety has always been so cool to me.
Great video, thanks for making this! Frankly, I agreed with very, very few of your picks, but I recognize that this is your channel, your video and your opinion. The mispronunciations and misspellings did bother me a bit, though it was hard to tell when intentional. But anyone who loves the R&C series enough to make a video on it gets a massive thumbs up from me! Regarding your choices though, it seems your biases (not a bad thing, we all have them) are in visual aesthetics (colors, structure design, layout, etc.). Which is fine, this is a video game after all. I can't help but think this got in the way sometimes, such as Yeedil or Endako, were "drab" and lack of luster actually represented the genius in design. It seems Endako was boring on purpose to contrast the color and liveliness of Kerwan to the black-and-white 'bleh' of the Bogon Galaxy. All of Bogon sort of looks like this - a point in design to hint at the character and atmosphere of Megacorp. Nonetheless, my biases are more in the music, what guns and gadgets become available, where there are fun secret areas and more exploration, and where we meet other characters. Really, the soundtrack can make or break the planet each time for me. Orxon was a real high/low situation (Deadlocked Orxon came thru tho)! Boldan, Zeldrin Starport, Aquatos, Todano, UGH so good! Glad you showed Nebula G34 some love though. Again, I still enjoyed watching every minute, and thank you for your efforts in making this!
My best: Nebula G34 The entire section was fun for me. It was a huge part of my childhood. The clank section was a bit unenjoyable, but the bossfight definitely makes up for it. You're very limited in your movements, however you'll find the Bomb Glove and Blaster very useful in this fight. It's the only section in the beginning where you're forced to use your weapons wisely. The warship was the highlight for me, it was the only section in the entire game where I was actually shivering my timbers (not sorry). You have to go through a decommissioned warship to find a big, red, shiny button at the end of the road, which, of course, initiates self-destruct mode. There's a brief moment of panic as you realize you only have 40 seconds to get through a section that likely took you longer to get through before. Kind of scary as a kid. My worst: Snivelak Do I even have to explain? This is the level that ruined Going Commando/Locked and Loaded for me. If Insomniac's vision of "difficult and fun level" was a gauntlet of 100 different challenges you're forced to barely make through as well as a 15-30 minute "bossfight" back in 2003? In my first playthrough, I must've gone through 50 different attempts just to make it to the bossfight, and even then I only barely made it through with 1 health remaining! Worst level in the entire series, hands-down.
I actually kinda enjoy the gauntlet lol, but the thug leader is easily one of the worst bosses of all time. At the very least, the RYNO shaves off several minutes from the fight since it actually does pretty decent damage. Won't save you in the first playthrough tho 🤣
why do people dump on the ship levels in going commando, I liked them, they offered a small break from the regular gameplay and gave a chance to get huge amounts of bolts
yeah people really seem to despise the ship levels but I always thought they were over so fast that they were almost inoffensive, I honestly prefer them over any Clank gameplay in the PS2 trilogy
Nah I agree with them here , the ship controls and the race’s against that dude who challenges you through those small ass rings just don’t do it for me. I feel like the first game executed the Ship levels better than how it was in commando. My guess that it was a last minute inclusion
Ratchet and clank 1 was by far my favourite game as a kid and even replaying it years later it still holds the top spot, across the trilogy though I cannot stand the giant clank boss fights they always were a pain to do
Admittedly when I can't find out how a name is pronounced in game, I usually have a text reader help me out a bit just to be on the safe side and this is how some of them came out as.
When I finished watching this video I took a look on your channel and I really expected you to have like 50k+ subs and this video to have same amount of views. Really underrated I must say.
I feel as though my top 10 in no particular order are: -Aquatos (The sewers feel like they earned their reputation as being the nastiest sewers in the galaxy that only the most crazed plumbers or heavily armed lombaxes would dare to enter. You may call it monotonous, but the creepy and forboding atmosphere enhanced by eerie music on top of seeing the king ameboid eggs looming at the end of the hallway really gave me the heebie jeebies whenever I did my sewer crystal runs. And *the sewer water speaks ameboid.* Bonus points for me acquiring my beloved miniturrets for free here with the save) -Tabora (The music goes much harder than it has any right to, I could just about feel myself starting to sweat from the heat of the beginning of the level, and murdering things for crystals is a nice bonus) -Orxxon (Make that 2 for the creepy and ominous department. The absolute destitution and toxicity in the wildlife, music, and visuals made it feel like I was walking on a graveyard of a planet) -Maktar resort (Another level with banger music, and this combined with the epic view of the arena you have at many points with all the ships heading towards it as a galactic hub of sorts made the place feel huge and grandiose. Also the satellite moon was pretty interesting to explore around) -Koros (I love the intense and urgent music and darker atmosphere to this world, as you can almost feel the rage going through Ratchet's head after hearing that his planet's in imminent danger. The huge turret itself also serves as a pretty cool set piece, and like any good supervillain base it's heavily defended) -Yeedil (Especially nailed the start of this level, particularly immediately upon stepping out of the ship and hearing one of the most banger OSTs in the trilogy to go with the ominously looming Megacorp monolith in the distance. Completed the transition of making megacorp out to be a sinister corporste operstion) -Zeldrin Starport (The comically evil and dubious rules on the intercom are always a nice touch, and the story portion of the world feels incredibly tense between another banger song aboard the Leviathan and the knowledge that you've been had before ever stepping off Qwark's ship into the Leviathan) -Dobbo (One of the planets that really begins to turn up the heat on Megacorp's more sinister image with forboding music and darker visuals throughout. Also slapping the shit out of the Thug leader is funny) -Aridia Outpost X-11 (One of my favorute OSTs from the OG, and it fits with some of the enemies on the level like the flamethrower robits with their slow methodical movements along those conveyor belts) -Tyhrranosis (The point where the war between Ratchet and hus rangers and the tyhrranoids started feeking more like a war. Going around and systematically dismantling their war infrastructure personalky felt satisfying AF, along with the banger Queen bossfight and some of the stronger Ranger missions)
The thing I love about the first game is the different feelings you feel everytime you land on different planets, In the 2nd game I love how they perfected the moves and stuffs but im disappointed on the third one because every planet almost contains the same enemies so its difficult to feel that youre in a different planet compare to the first 2 games
The Obani Moons are one of my favorites, the music there is one of my favorite songs on the soundtrack, and I love planetoid levels. I especially love that you can glitch out and charge boot from the asteroid belt around Gemeni, all the way to Pollux. You can even land on Draco if you aim properly.
I’d say your list is spot on. Really enjoyed this video. I think it does go to show while the 3rd game was very cool and great fun, it did lack when it came to the level design. I’d say overall my favourite music and level design was from the first game, it had a very dark feel to the game. The second game was much more vibrant and colourful and took a different approach. Overall though I just don’t feel any of the ps3 games onwards stand with these original 3. They’re good, but there is really something missing from them.
My favorite planet like my 1st ever forever is from rachet and clank tools of destruction and its Sargasso its just dinosaurs and wild and just like there is much to explore and it boring back memorise off old good times
My best: Kerwan (1&3) In RAC1 it introduces the helipack, swingshot, and the blaster which are some of the most useful items in the game, has fun and interesting platforming, and UYA is my favorite game so of course I like it in that game. Plus the enemies give a ton of exp so it's great for weapon grinding (then again pretty much every planet going forward is too). Overall I like this take on a sci-fi city environment and the music is iconic My worst: Orxon The Clank sections are booty. Clank is slower and the paths are relatively long so if you do both sections back to back, which I do because that's more efficient, it feels like it takes ages. It's easy to lose your bots so I get paranoid trying to keep them safe to avoid backtracking. Even the ratchet section is littered with some of the most annoying enemies in the game so far and the planet is just so ugly... which is kinda the point I know but it's just God awful in my opinion and it's ironic because I usually really like green. It introduces the visibomb which is completely skipable (especially if you want the Tesla claw)
I'm not sure if you meant to leave this one out but Oozla is one of the greatest with the secret boss. It's overrun corporate from overgrowth. Just an honorable mention
I had a funny moment once when I felt like messing around with 3 for some reason after not touching it for years. I didn't think I was gonna go for a full playthrough, just load an old save and blow stuff up for a while. Reversed that decision pretty quick when I saw every save was on holostar studios 😅 I wonder why that was...
Haven't finished the video yet, as of starting this comment. The Crash Site level was what kept me from beating Up Your Arsenal as a kid and I want to see how low/high it gets placed on this list. I expect it to be pretty low. WOW! It got 15! Way higher than I expected. I've started the series over from the first game on PS3 and am looking forward to getting back to that level and finally beating it! Maybe I'll appreciate it more now.
Yes, and he didn't even try to remove that bias from his mind, which made him being inconsistent with the arguments. E.g. He placed some 3rd game planets low for being "lifeless" and "repetitive", then placed others from the other 2 games with the exact same issues higher. Sewer gets panned but Tabora desert isn't repetitive for him, even though it's the same mechanic but with less tension because you always know where and when the dangerous enemies will appear (while ameboids often catch you off guard), and forces you to backtrack more due to the lack of PDA or distributed ammo shops. And he didn't even care about the soundtrack. Needs improvement.
Grelbin should be absolute bottom. It was done in three days. The dev who made it was given a joke award : "awarded to the developer of the worst thing shipped in the final game"
Pretty decent list! My favorite from 1 is Kerwan (the best of all), from 2 it has to be Damosel or Joba. from 3 its gotta be Daxx. My least favorite: Marcadia, Sniveleak, Siberius, Smogl and Tyhranosis
I suppose if you wanted to know what my ten most favorite and least favorite planets in the first three games were, it would be this. Most Favorite: 1: Nebula G34 2: Orxon 3: Oltanis 4: Damosel 5: Veldin (R&C1) 6: Maktar Resort 7: Joba 8: Novalis 9: Quartu 10: Kerwan (R&C1) Least Favorite: 10: Wupash Nebula 9: Hrugis Cloud (Deep Space Disposal Facility) 8: Obani Draco 7: Zeldrin 6: Holostar Studios 5: Zeldrin Starport 4: Rilgar (R&C3) 3: Obani Gemini & Pollux 2: Kerwan (R&C3) 1: Tyhrranosis
You have so much skill in making videos, I highly recommend you take advantage of the next game and try and catch the YT algorithm. Your sub count and view count are nowhere near where they should be.
Love your rating on Florana and Barlow. Gotta say Zeldrin, grelbin, and Hoven should have been lower on the list and Koros, Siberius, Gaspar, and Gemlik base should be higher on the list. Don't know if you attributed music to your ratings :)
Ratchet 3 is more combat orientated. The graphics are much worse than the previous 2 games and most of them have just 1 path. Also the variety of enemies is very low. So, speaking of planets, I think the first 2 games have much more beautiful level designs
Best is either version of Metropolis, just iconic Worst in my opinion is Snivelak, only because of the boss. Remove 40% or so of his HP and we'll talk lol
It is there, though. I recall that after Clank destroys the first biobliterator in Koros, Sasha calls to tell Nefarious has a second one on his command center in planet Mylon, then it appears written when you get the coordinates, and also in mission descriptions. Would make no sense to have a nameless planet. I guess your confusion comes from the fact that in the 3rd game some levels are named, in the selection menu and arrival screen, by their landing location instead of the planet or nebula. Another example of this is Metropolis (instead of planet Kerwan).
very interesting take!! This planet kind of crept up in my list over the years. It was my lesser favorite in Deadlocked until a few playthroughs. The dreariness, weather, humor, vehicle introductions, and concept of 'dead' robots coming out of the ground really did make this one slap
Although personally I hate Kerwan to every bone in my body, my top 3 are Koros, Veldin II (2nd visit, first game) and Oltanis Orbit, but still, nice vid
boldan and annihilation nation are some of my faves. i loved the courses especially when i was younger, and boldan is so vast, is when the game gets really challenging, has secrets to uncover that are not easy to find on your own, and the grind rail is a joy. i love todano and endako too, wish they were higher up i also maybe disagree w grelbin placement - if you realise that basically it's where you get to abuse all of your stupid powerful weapons in the late game, then it's alright. but it was put together very quickly for release and it can feel very uninviting. also why do u pronounce half the planet names wrong ._. fun nostalgia fest
Endako is the worst for me, it feels like Metropolis at home, the clank section is garbage, the crane puzzles are boring and the boss is useless. Notak and the planet with the Gadgetron ruins aren't far behind, and so is Marcadia with the forced missions. That being said, these 4 planets are just about 7/10s IMO, the level design is overall quite good in the Ratchet series
dunno man... the 2nd game crashes my emulator, and I've only completed the 3rd a few times, but I'd most likely rank most of the levels/planets from the first game above most of the planets from the 3rd. Can't really compare them to the 2nd, 'cos it crashes on the first planet with the spherical map. (some kinda station where you have to destroy a few towers)
Really high quality videos you got here, RaC 1 had the best planets in my opinion. I didn't even finish RaC 3 because of the repetetive and overall bad missions... I think the RaC Future games are better than the 3rd one but that's just my opinion :D
It was a crime to not match the music to the planet being rated
While I disagree with some of your planet's ratings, this was still a great video to watch. definitely a like from me.
Tell me you're list? I like to know. :)
Man really said kirkwan XD
Olantis XD
twice lol
There will never be a planet as unique as Gemlik Base from the original game. Especially for the time the game came out, that is a legendary level/planet
Agreed, most memorable for me and only complaint is difficulty at some parts and qwark fight is meh
It's not based on any legend, it's historical.
Could have a better soundtrack...
@@imafreakinninja12Bro what, the soundtrack of Gemlik is what gave it the impeccable atmosphere.
@@Satoru38 No, it's boring. Umbris's is much better.

The exact sentence, down to the word, I was going to write.
It’s also really iconic in the series.
aridia needs to be top 5 that slingshot course is infamous. the most memorable game moment as a kid for me.

8: Obani Draco
7: Zeldrin
6: Holostar Studios
5: Zeldrin Starport
4: Rilgar (R&C3)
3: Obani Gemini & Pollux
2: Kerwan (R&C3)
1: Tyhrranosis
glad someone else appreciates Smolg
You have so much skill in making videos, I highly recommend you take advantage of the next game and try and catch the YT algorithm.
Your sub count and view count are nowhere near where they should be.
Love the video, don't care for the opinions, lol. Grelbin being anything but dead last is crazy.
Grelbin interestingly only had three days of development. Check the Golden bolts video for more information
Pokitaru is just beautiful.
Decent tier list I love it when I could agree and disagree with a tier list
Quartu is criminally underrated
Love your rating on Florana and Barlow. Gotta say Zeldrin, grelbin, and Hoven should have been lower on the list and Koros, Siberius, Gaspar, and Gemlik base should be higher on the list. Don't know if you attributed music to your ratings :)
Oltanis not Olantis!
This needs more views and likes
Definitely would have these placements different. Some deserve to be lower, some deserve to be WAY higher
Found it funny how damn near all of UYA levels were in the top 20s, I know it’s personal preference tho😂
The RAC3 hate is wild
Ratchet 3 is more combat orientated. The graphics are much worse than the previous 2 games and most of them have just 1 path.
Also the variety of enemies is very low.
So, speaking of planets, I think the first 2 games have much more beautiful level designs
The fact that greblin wasn't last is crazy lol 💀
Pokitaru would probably be in the top 10
I agree about marcadia. it always felt boring all the way through. Only the music was a real highlight.
Not gonna do the math but it would be hilarious if there were 50 planets in the original trilogy.
Where the hell is Ship Shack? It’s easily the best level in the series.
Good vid
Best is either version of Metropolis, just iconic
Worst in my opinion is Snivelak, only because of the boss. Remove 40% or so of his HP and we'll talk lol
13:12 I’m sorry what? Kyzil Plataeu has hands down one of the best soundtracks in the game…
Mylon? It has a name?
I swear the place was just called "Command Center" or something. I've never seen that name before... ever...
"Mylon" is the name of the planet. Command Center, or whatever, is the title of the place you fight Dr. Nefarious.
Well done
Not part of the original 3 games but my favorite planet is Catacrom 4 from Deadlocked.
very interesting take!! This planet kind of crept up in my list over the years. It was my lesser favorite in Deadlocked until a few playthroughs. The dreariness, weather, humor, vehicle introductions, and concept of 'dead' robots coming out of the ground really did make this one slap
I personally think Oltanis proper is peak ratchet gameplay. And that's weird considering clank isn't there.
KERWAN - METROPOLIS FOREVER THE BEST PLACE IN RATCHET AND CLANK
I swear Marcadia has a very similar music to the horror movie Dog Soldiers.
Everyone gets to have there own opinions, although I do disagree with most of these, for example, I actually really like Snivelak.
Wasn't it Oltanis?
You say "Number XX" in a peculiar way
Kerkwin?
Although personally I hate Kerwan to every bone in my body, my top 3 are Koros, Veldin II (2nd visit, first game) and Oltanis Orbit, but still, nice vid
boldan and annihilation nation are some of my faves. i loved the courses especially when i was younger, and boldan is so vast, is when the game gets really challenging, has secrets to uncover that are not easy to find on your own, and the grind rail is a joy.
i love todano and endako too, wish they were higher up
i also maybe disagree w grelbin placement - if you realise that basically it's where you get to abuse all of your stupid powerful weapons in the late game, then it's alright. but it was put together very quickly for release and it can feel very uninviting.
also why do u pronounce half the planet names wrong ._.
fun nostalgia fest
My favorites planets are:
Batalia
Novalis
Aranos 1
Oozla
Smolg
Endako
Tabora
Boldan
Tyhrranosis
Aquatos
Least Favorites
Veldin Orbit
Veldin 2 (RAC1)
Umbris
Orxon
Hrugis Cloud
Obani Draco
Holostar Studios
The fact that you don't like the Obani moons says everything I need to know about you 😒👎
grelbin is also a desert planet so that's actually the last one before acit
Just say you don't like uya.
In no particular order:
Smolg
Kerwan
Barlow
Batalia
Hoven
Oltanis
Gemlik Base
Boldan
Rilgar
Joba
Interesting video and definitely fun to watch but dam allot of these I completely disagree with u on
What's up with the extra "k" in Kerwan?
The only one I agree with is Kerwan in 1st place
what game is it @0:46?
Jak II
you should have add deadlock because that was last ratchet and clank game that was good ifen now good not explore it was stil good co op game
24:08 "Olantis?"
Joba #1 for me
Hard disagree with this list, but even so, nice video :D
This was a great video! But u heavily disagree with your listing 💀
Nice video even though i dont agree xD
i loved some of the ones like koros and zeldrin for example
Oh god this rating is so wrong! Still nice to watch
Pretty bad takes
dunno man... the 2nd game crashes my emulator, and I've only completed the 3rd a few times, but I'd most likely rank most of the levels/planets from the first game above most of the planets from the 3rd. Can't really compare them to the 2nd, 'cos it crashes on the first planet with the spherical map. (some kinda station where you have to destroy a few towers)
check if you have enabled any breaking option
You have definitely messed up some settings if that's happening
IMO tools of destruction is the best R&C game
Kirkwin is a great #1
Really high quality videos you got here, RaC 1 had the best planets in my opinion. I didn't even finish RaC 3 because of the repetetive and overall bad missions... I think the RaC Future games are better than the 3rd one but that's just my opinion :D
Its feels like you went out of your way to pronounce every planet wrong 😂
Damosel is the best planet in R&C2
Batalia is the best planet in R&C1
Metropolis is the best planet in R&C3
