I would have to disagree, mainly because of my playstyle, I usually use the weapons that match the specific criteria, like if there are ranged enemies I'll usually use the beginning Blaster, but if there are a lot of them up close I'll use the bomb glove or something to that degree, or the whip :)
You see, the shock blaster in Ratchet 3 is slightly weaker than the Ryno since you can charge the mark 5's beam and then unleash it while spinning to wipe out an entire room in seconds

Nice to see you trying to do a whip jump at 15:11. I assume you were mashing circle a bunch and wasn't sure when to stop. In speedruns, we use the whip jump to go from the elevator area straight to the ship, which is an even bigger corner cut than you tried showing off. The reason things were weird afterwards is because the game saves your position upon triggering the cutscene as your spawn point, so it's mainly just the way the game was programmed. Good video man.

I really wanted to skip from the ship to the elevator platform, but given that PAL Charge Boots don't carry as much momentum, I couldn't make it work. Maybe if I could chain a Hyper Strike onto the end, but disallowing the Wrench in the way I did made that a non option
I'm sure by now you've seen The Golden Bolt's retrospectives on the R&C series, but just in case, the reason Daxx is coded as is was due to a limited stretch of time for making that entire level, which is why parts of it is lifted wholesale from a level in Going Commando, and other parts are janky as all get out programming wise. Like the entire game, the developers, to use their words, were crunching pretty hard to get this game done as quickly as they did, so stuff like this snuck in. It's also one of those things where the intended developer path for 99% of players is for them to kill the boss, then be able to proceed to the cutscene that finishes the mission, and because of that, there's no need to worry about people bypassing the boss. Doing so requires abusing a number of glitches that most players wouldn't ever encounter, and playtesters wouldn't have had time or the wherewithal to manage. Also, if you'd like an interesting challenge, what about trying to do Tools of Destruction with only devices?
If I had to guess, the reason they had two flags for the gauntlet is because they were likely aware of the neutral long jump would allow players to easily skip the chopper boss, so they had a flag for getting the Courtney Gears cut scene, and a flag for the boss being dead.
Damn I used to spend so much time on tyrronosis just farming bolts by driving through the trees, then driving into the lava, respawning and doing it again. 😭

I'm going to be honest, Ratchet & Clank Up Your Arsenal is my absolute favorite Ratchet & Clank game, and I had absolutely no idea that the plasma whip had lower damage than other weapons, I just use what I feel is needed at the time, ranged weapon for ranged enemies, so on and so forth, the plasma whip has always been my favorite weapon just because it's a good medium and close-range weapon with high damage and strong AOE and ammo is easily obtained
You know you could have used ratchet himself to destroy boxes at the start when you needed money. Just equip thruster pack as a replacement for heli-pack and charge into the boxes, it destroys them and you dont use wrench so it wont invalidate the run.
This game is my childhood, and i've played the ever-living shit out of it. I only recently discovered that the alternative title for R&C 3 was 'Up your Arsenal'. And i love that even more
this is far to nostalgic for me, i played all the ratchet and clank games on PS2, although i only played the first one released for PS3 because the second game for PS3 crashed when i launched it

You know, surprisingly little people know you can play ratchet and clank 3 in first person which defaults your wrench to throwing if memory serves me correctly so it probably would for the whip
I FUCKING LOVE THE PLASMA WHIP I dunno why, when it's definitely not the strongest or safest weapon in the game, but I frickin' love it. It's sleek, it's a goddamn fire lash, it attacks decently quickly; it's just awesome.

Apparently in the HD collection there is an in-game Dev mode that unlocks all weapons by imputing a code in the pause menu!
It took me a few playthroughs to get into it, but discovering the V5 Quantum Whip was a match made in heaven for me. That wave it sends out that can stun twice? Beautiful. One of my favorite UYA-exclusive weapons in the game.

As a kid I loved the whip. And so I acccedently did what you did without realizing it.
I would like see Ratchet and clank 3 completed with only the suck cannon, with the wrench allowed for the time before getting the suck cannon

I can never beat that timed arena challenge with the whip as my ammo always runs out before time. And yes it's refreshing to play these games again
