This is the number one reason I won't trade in on a new Harley. I found out the hard way about the quality of stock Harley parts.
Harley-Davidson -"we are a premium motorcycle".
Also Harley-Davidson - you'll have to replace a lot of non-premium parts.
I'm hanging on to this one after putting a lot of work into it but Harley-Davidson is not going to fool me with that again. No more Harleys after this one.
I went with the evolution clutch and man o war comp. What an improvement! New comp bolt torqued per the manual is key. Cams and heads next.
Just want to give Jordan a shoutout for the amazing Videography. Killer work!!!
Thanks Bucky.
Swap the attitude adjuster out for a spring loaded Hayden when it bends and you’ll have some super smooth power. 😁 good vid though, cheers
REMINDS ME OF.…AND JUST LIKE…THE "TWIN CAM" ISSUE OF TWENTY TWO YEARS AGO.
Great video, I just redid most of my primary installed a dark horse and Barnett clutch was pretty straight forward good point on measuring runout on the crank I got lucky on my 96” vtwin runout was at .003 I did this all before I completed my stage 2 on the bike next thing I’m buying is that baker attitude adjuster tensioner just ran out of $$$$ after getting all the S$S Camchest parts
Thanks for taking the time to do this.
Thanks for watching!
Solid video with great choices. Man O War products are incredible. I consider their crankshaft to be mandatory for rebuilds or big engine builds. The motorsprocket is super smooth, durable, and serviceable. I love Rekluse products and have been totally satisfied with the performance. The only thing I used into the primary on my bike project was the primary chain tensioner. I really love the Southern Oregon Hotbikes hydraulic tensioner that I had installed. Thanks for a really good, informative and enjoyable video.
Agreed! Thanks for watching, glad you found it informative.
This guy is freaking great!! I will have to visit Tucker speed sometime soon!! thanks for the video!
Thank you! Please do.
Harley warns against using an impact for the comp bolt. Evidently you could cause magnets on the rotor to come loose. A big breaker bar and a sprocket lock is safe. No sense taking chances. Other than that, great video....thanks.
Good point, a breaker bar / sprocket lock is a great way to do it just to be safe.
On the basket rivets rather than grind the heads off could you use an 4 flute end mill and drill press or just a drill bit and drill press ?
How much for this setup with you guys doing the work @@TuckerSpeed477
Well Done video. Thank You.
No problem! Thanks for watching.
How long did you put it in the oven and at what temp?
Amazing great job...
@Tucker Speed I have a 2021 Fatboy 114 , Is it true that the Baker armored Attitude Adjuster - Full Assembly
1120-0437 wont fit softails from 2018 and newer? if so what would you suggest.... I have been looking at the Hayden M6, what's your thoughts...
Why do you prefer to grind the rivets instead of drill them?
I have a 2023 Road King Special with 4,600 mi.’s. At what mileage should I consider installing these upgrades?
So you gotta spend thousands to get the primary up to par on a basically new bike???
15,000 miles on my 21 m8 cammed 107. Took the primary off to change clutch springs. Comp and ramp were in amazingly good condition. It seems like the dudes having issues are the ones doing huge big bore kits w lots of torque. I was told all the stock parts are good till about 150 ft-lbs. after that you’ll start breaking comp ramps and clutch baskets.
That's not entirely true. We've seen tons of bikes with just a cam or even just a pipe and air cleaner break stock comp ramps. It doesn't always happen, and I'm sure riding style and other factors will affect it but they can definitely break with far less than 150 ft-lbs, we see it happen all the time at the shop. If your bike has a cam and yours hasn't had any issues I would just consider yourself lucky.
@@TuckerSpeed477 15k w a cam and zero issues. Comp ramp barely even showed any wear marks and I clutch dump the piss out of it lol.
Yes I agree with you on that. I have road glide st 117ci with woods 22xe no issues at all! I also believe it all comes down how you ride. If you beat down the clutch it going blow the primary area.
How much crank shaft run out is the limit on the manowar sprocket?
.008 thou
I got A 2019 m8 flhx.going to change pump and chest assembly.add a cam as well.but now?Harley should recall the whole damn motor.
Anyone know what bag guards those are?
I believe they are from Santoro Fabworx.
Really? Do you think any Harley stock part is adequate for a stage 1 or 2.
There are plenty of parts that hold up fine, you just have to eliminate the weak points.
your right on there james Harley,s are way over priced and the m8.s are really having a lot problems for sure it all comes down to cheap parts china made probably Harley, s are getting to be like they were back in the amf days i ride a harley and have for 24 years i hate to see the company going threw this . but when you skip on quality you get crap when you spend 40 grand or more on a new bike you sure dont want to spend another 10 grand on it so you can ride it . the Tech did a great job by the way
It's not just parts. Look at the paint. I just finally upgraded from my beloved evolution platform. I got a deal on a 2016 streetglide I couldn't pass up. With the 2016 sitting next to any one of my evo bikes, the degradation of quality sticks out all over the bike. From the fender fit and finish to the paint work to the fairing and saddlebag ober all build quality to the exterior cylinder millwork and on and on and on. It's literally a crying shame. All I can do is shake my head
And much its going to cost, approx. $2,000😮
Without labor ?
Can't they just build a reliable engine you don't have to dump a couple of grand into to fix their engineering ---k ups? Think cam chain tensioner from years ago.I think that affected the 96 cu.in. bikes.Happened to me.
Wow, M8 is junk huh? I don't think I would bother with all this.
just the cast ramp compensator ... if your not increasing Horse Power (pistons size, cams, ect) everything else is fine .
other than the standard upgrades of seat, shocks & handle bars...
Of course you’ve either had problems, or will. Why? Harley’s suck. They’re overpriced, cast aluminum, pathetic Chinese motorcycles.
I’ll never understand why all you Harley haters watch so many videos about Harley’s 😂.
@@TuckerSpeed477 I don’t. I surf the videos to warn people about how over-priced they are, how they’re Chinese junk and how much money you need to put into a brand-new one just to give it acceptable hp/tq and some reliability. It’s my goal to put them out of business. I don’t actually watch the videos.
It's sad that you hate a product so bad just because your ugly old lady rode off on a harley because you can't afford put gas in one, idiot's everywhere 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕
You just proved my point. Maybe if you put that energy into something you DO like or something positive you'd have better results. You aren't going to put HD out of business.
@@TuckerSpeed477 Yes. I wasn’t trying to disprove it. I won’t put HD out of business but if I can steer 100 buyers away from China HD, they won’t waste their money.
