  • In this free tutorial video, we show you how to install an AIM Light Force Clutch Slave Cylinder on a Harley Davidson with a hydraulic clutch. AIM’s revolutionary Light Force Slave Cylinder provides a noticeable decrease in clutch lever pull. This will also bring your clutch friction zone closer to the grip, also widening the friction zone for easier clutch modulation. This heavy duty slave cylinder is made with a steel piston with upgraded seals, paired with a special surface treatment for super low friction to help further the longevity and the ease of operation of the slave cylinder.

Hey Ryan!!! I installed one of these on my wife's 2018 Tri Glide not long after we bought it. A couple of things to run pass you... I could not get any where close to the measurement of what AIM stated in the manual by taking the primary cover off and the distance that the clutch pack moves, and a tip on the cover, when you take all of the exhaust loose and get the cover out take a Dremel and on the bottom of the cover cut a slot (for lack of a better term) 1/2" to 5/8" from the edge and just wide enough to slide over the Aim this will really help the next time it needs to be serviced without having to loosen the exhaust system. I also installed some PSR levers cause her hands are small. Thanks for all y'all do Bro!!!

I wish I'd known about these 2+ years ago when I returned to riding and got my first H-D, a Road Glide, after 35 years not riding. Initially the Law Abiding Biker store was out of stock (on Friday), and had more available the next Monday. I ordered one immediately, it arrived on Thursday, and I (and a friend) had it installed by Friday afternoon. 1 week from seeing this video to having it on my motorcycle. Not bad! I immediately noticed the difference between the 2 slave cylinders, with the Light Force giving the advertised lighter force and a noticeably wider friction zone. I'm sold!

I installed one of these on my 2019 Road Glide Special right after I bought it. I have arthritis in my fingers and it made a world of difference for me. I also love the way it moved the friction zone closer to the grip. I would recommend this to anyone with similar issues to mine.

Thanks for this VID. I could really use this on my '17 RGS. I have a somewhat aggressive cam and in round-a-bouts it works best to have the bike in second gear and use the friction zone for the smoothest and safest transition in and out of it. The stock clutch set up has a very narrow friction zone IMO and sometimes it can get a little janky trying to stay in the friction zone sweet spot. When I have a little extra funds I will order from you for putting this video out here. Again thank you.

I have been racing so long and used the hydros with the engagement point at the end of the lever, I can't stand it by the grip. With the regular position you can maintain control by holding the grip and using your index or middle finger for the lever, the same way you do for the front brake and have it covered at all times.

regards that trans side cover...just a couple of weeks ago i bled my line on my 20 rgs and there was no way i was gonna start messing around with loosening the headers, etc. i just loosened the one heat shield directly in front of it, placed a shop rag between the cover and the exhaust pipe and simply pulled hard on the cover to cause it to slightly deform on the bottom. it came right out and the deformity is down low where you can't even see it once it's installed. it's hidden by the pipe. those two stupid half rounded areas on the bottom of the cover is all that prevents you from removing it. that's where i bent it. and since the cover isn't sealed anyway, this is definitely the way to go. saves a ton of time and frustration messing around with the exhaust.

The response for the clutch is awesome, it is like having a new bike. Thanks for shipping it out so quickly and I hope I’ve helped keep your lights on. I would suggest to those installing this unit to follow the Aim guide to bleeding the clutch slave. I used a minty vac but for some reason it wasn’t working for me on the clutch, followed the directions from Aim and all is great.

These slave cylinders are fantastic. We use them on our HD Road Kings at work. I believe a similar device is made for cable clutches but I'm not sure who makes it. A coworker has one. The cable clutch is garbage compared to the hydraulic. I don't care what anyone says. Harley should've stuck with it and created factory adjustable levers like the rest of modern bikes. I'm going to hang on to my hydraulic clutch bike until they deadline it. It has such a wider gray area (friction zone) than any cable clutch I've messed with. You can really finesse the power input with it.

It decreases the clutch pull weight by increasing your leverage when you pull the clutch lever if I'm not mistaken (Like a long breaker bar vs a smaller ratchet or wrench). I think there are other options like it but I'm not familiar with them. I'd be leary of anything that actually reduces the spring tension.

It's a better option if you want a reduction in force it takes to pull the clutch. An adjustable lever is a good option if your just looking to move the engagement point.

It's very necessary for low speed and very technical riding. We do it all the time and I am a Police Motorcycle Instructor. Clutches are made to be slipped, which is why there is a friction zone. They last a very long time even when running and slipping them hard in police riding environments. Ride safe and thanks for commenting.
