my first bike was a Hayabusa. I was 24 years old. My dad actually found the bike. I'd never ridden a dirt bike or anything on 2 wheels, not even a scooter. Plenty of 20 inch BMX bikes, that's it. I learned how to ride on that bike, rode about 40 miles to take my obstacle course test to get my license. Never scratched that bike, put maybe 5k on it. Paid 8500 in 2001 and sold it for 8500 in 04, wanted something smaller so I bought a 04 GSXR1000 mladin edition. Funny, but my friend got a CBR 600 f4i I found that was like new and I loved that bike. My son got me a f4i I had been wanting a few months back. I'm planning to keep it forever So I went way backwards. My busa was fast, it was stock, but that busa was way more tame than the 1000cc Gixxer I replaced it with. The busa was like a Cadillac. It would cruise at 150mph like nothing and the faster ya went the smoother it felt. My new to me CBR tops out at around 150 and I'd never ride it that fast. I wouldn't recommend a Hayabusa for anyone for a first bike, but my dad wasn't crazy. He knew I would be ultra cautious with the bike. while I had zero 2 wheel experience, I did have significant experience on a race track in drag racing and oval street stock racing, some late model experience. I had no problem with the bike. I felt comfortable really quick. The throttle wasn't touchy, even my son's new Ninja Z6 KRT has a touchier throttle and is more nervous to ride. The busa was solid and easy to ride.

I rode a 2005 Hayabusa (bought used with 495 miles on the clock in 2006) and rode it 65,000 miles until I was rear ended at a stop light in NC in 2018 (R.I.P. , Busa). I used it as a sport touring platform. A few ergonomic tweaks were needed. Specifically, I installed both 3/4" GenMar risers and Heli Bars to create a more upright riding posture, and also bagged the stock foot pegs for slash cut aluminum pegs that opened the seat-to-peg distance by almost an inch. I did 800 mile days on that bike on some of my trips. Wonderful motorcycle - Calm, tractable, no surprises. BUT - if you wanted to pass someone, they got passed. Once the tach hit about 7k, you better be holding on because the whole time/space continuum thing was about get weird. I spent very little time in that rev range. Serious question, how did you deal with the wind noise? The only problem I see with sport bikes is the low windshield that blasts the air right at your helmet visor. A much lower, or a much higher windshield can solve this problem. I am curious why they don't sell a Goldwing sized windscreen for the Hayabusa, because it would make an excellent highway bike with it's tall gearing.

Really surprised people thought the Hayabusa was 'ugly'. I have always been captivated by its look, I think it is gorgeous! But each to their own of course. The Hayabusa is a proper bedroom-wall poster machine IMO, more so than say the 1400 ZZR which I also love and is apparently easier to live with.
I think the falcon name is kinda cool, with the backstory of the Honda Blackbird being the fastest bike before Suzuki came out with the 'Busa, and the falcons hunt down and kill blackbirds.
Hayabusa has been the only bike I've ever been really attracted to since the first time I saw one, after years and years of wanting one I just started riding at 40 years old on a GSXR 600 and there is only one more bike I will buy after this one .... may the motorcycle Gods protect me 🙏🙏🙏🙏
The Gixxer is a good grounding TBH, my first bike after passing my test aged 49 (here in Scotland) was a K4 GSXR600, rode that for 18 months then got a K5 Busa, honestly the Busa is easier to ride, it's taller geared so much harder to stall and you don't need to shift as much, the weight means you can be harder on the brakes without them locking up (no ABS on a Gen 1), i felt the 600 was straining at the leash all the time, the Busa is happy just to cruise along, i absolutely love it.
The Busa is a motorcycle that is accessible to everyone, making it a true bike for the working class. Kudos to Koji Yoshiura and Suzuki for making such a magnificent machine available to the masses.
I have a gen 1 since new. Black and Purple, 86K on it basically stock. runs great, tour and track days (privet). The Art of Corning by Keith Code saved my butt many times. I still ride it today. Sometimes I make squids look silly on their liter bikes or 600's. I will never sell it or buy a new one. every time I ride it, it is worth more to me than what it is actually worth monetarily.
While I think the busa is cool, I’ve already tried one out in my college days. Did a 1 week swap with my buddy. He borrowed my R1 and I took his busa. Truth be told, it kinda feels clunky taking the corners and curves with that thing. So ultimately after my R1 I just decided to downgrade to a CBR600RR and that pretty much solidified my life as a rider. 🤷♂️
@@jimstenlund6017 At that time I was in my 20’s, it was around 2011. Being that age, progressive made it abundantly clear to me that my insurance is going to be expensive. Especially because of my 09 R1. They consider it a “high performance” bike. Even when I told them I’d just be riding it for casual, they couldn’t care less. I was quoted at the time, 224$ per month for collision, and a whopping 350$ per month for comprehensive. The difference in rate dropped SIGNIFICANTLY when I swapped to my new 2012 CBR600rr. Since I owed around 2000$ on my loan with Honda, they required me to automatically get comprehensive. Which was only 260ish per month if I remember correctly. I was shocked at the crazy drop in insurance cost, but completely relieved I wasn’t paying nearly 4K per year anymore. By the end of the day, super sport and liter bikes will always cost more to insure. And if you penny pinch, you could opt for just collision damage and skip comprehensive, but I would NOT recommend that. Nowadays my 2020 600rr is only 48$ per month with StateFarm. It’s incredibly low since I’m 38 now and I’ve been a StateFarm insurance member for 8years now. 👍 sorry for the long back story
What the hell is ugly about the Hayabusa? It`s an iconic piece of design. It`s muscular, flowing, it has personality and it`s timeless. Ugly is just that opinion.
Wow. This man has an amazing command of English. Reason, benefit, entertainment with humor. A witty spark intellect on a common terms. Heard other youtubers slendering Papa Yam, while he was able to convey one idea, Papa put us under hypnotic spell. My vote for the most valuable internet personal goes to Yammie Noob. Thank you.
I haven’t ridden since I was 12 years old now I’m 60 and after taking the class I’m going to get a 2025 Busa and get all red riding gear including helmet so I can live my fantasy as the red power ranger 😊
Got a gen2 metallic blue/grey busa in my early 30s and rode it all the way from Singapore to Songkla, Thailand (almost 1000km)...riding along those heavenly Malaysian highways..Oh man, thats the best ride of my life !
I had the 2004 gen1.. several times going the 1400km from Austria to Paris in one go.. 7hrs45mins.. and arriving feeling fresh and in time for lunch 😀 It's an absolutely beautiful machine that just exudes precisely what it delivers..and I find it strange that people call it 'ugly'. Perhaps due to their resentment that they would never have the courage to ride one. The stock busa is already an incredible experience..
It's named after the peregrine falcon because peregrines eat blackbirds, which was Hondas fastest bike at the time and that's also why they changed the name to fireblade.
What can you say about the Busa, most recognized bike on the planet. I bought one new in 2000 an absolutely loved it. After years of many other bikes, running 8s on a Zx14, it was time again. This year at 60 years old I went out and purchased the new 25th Anniversary edition. Absolutely love the bike in every way. And not to toot my own horn, but I have never had so many thumbs up on the streets as with this orange 25th edition. If there was ever a cult Japanese bike, the Busa has nailed it.
I bought my first busa last year. It's a 2007 and was like a beat shelter dog when I got it. The exhaust had been chopped off to dump pipes. The plastics have an access hole cut to get to the coolant tank. The speedo is partially melted because the windscreen acted like a magnifying glass. Front forks are starting seep a little. The clutch and brake lever have both been broken to about half their length. I keep a box of screws to replace them as they fall out. After tossing some new pipes on though, it's one of my favorite bikes to date. Sure you have to throw it down into a corner and man-handle it. The brakes are abysmal and feel like you're stopping an up armored humvee that was doing 70mph. Yes, everyone wants to race you everywhere - and should you partake, you're not going to beat a modern liter bike. However, it is extremely comfortable and even with 50k on the clock has been bulletproof. This will be the last year for my 'busa, the chassis is just too far past it's prime and it's time for something new(er). The motor is likely going to be shoe-horned into my Yamaha Raptor 660 for funsies.
Personally, I love them. They're beautiful, iconic. It looks like something out of a sci-fi comic book. I sat on one and personally found it surprisingly very comfortable for a sport bike. However, I see people doing 80 in first gear with the front tire off the ground(or at least that's what being narrated) and went to go find an ostrich hole to stuff my head in. I still want one. It would be cool if they could just tame it a bit. Maybe make v-twin version for us chicken-shirts.
@dumaxe666 had me one. Though its purring nearly put me to sleep on the interstate, seat is too wide and I am not a forward peg guy. A worthy bike. Could just be I've always been a sport bike guy and Hey-Ya-Pussies just had more sex appeal.
Yammie makes me want a Hayabusa as my first bike. Also the exact one near me I thought about getting as a joke is a clean blue 2004 for only $3500. Sounds like it was meant to be
Well, ya gotta think, man, most people ride these things like shit cuz they just drove as fast as possible at all times. Hopefully, it's well taken care of and works out for ya, tho!!
I've ridden a few different brand bikes over my 73 years, but have only owned three: 1971 BMW R75/5, 1968 Triumph 650 Bonneville, and 1993 Harley FLHS. I bought the BMW and Harley new, Triumph was about four years old. I only have the FLHS, and I refer to it as my 'first and last Harley'. Always have been intrigued by the sport bikes, and if I was to ever get one, it would be a Hayabusa. I just seemed to me, like the perfect meld of performance and comfort.
Of course I do! Right now I'd be delighted to have anything that qualifies as a motorcycle. I've had nearly 20 motorcycles since 1989. Had a 2016 636 and crashed in April 2021. For over 2 years now nothing. Not even a cage.
Pretty much all sport bikes look the same (for very good reasons of course: aerodinamics and performance on race, speed, etc), but only the Hayabusa looks absolutely different and to me it was love at first sight: very few angular, sharp edges. It's all rounded and beautiful.
Don’t listen to how people bad-talk gen3 just get yourself one you won’t regret it., despite a 7hp difference you won’t notice it., the bike is scary fast - I bought one(bulk/gold) configuration I just love it Anything 5k on the tac/ and that thing screams I’m leaving mine stock., customizing them just lowers the value in my opinion- also so many people bad mouth those huge cans on either side but to me they are perfect., good luck and stay safe
@@2010johnking i still have it. I mainly commute around the city its the perfect nimble bike. Im a little bigger at 220 lbs so shifting through all the gears in the city sometimes sucks but ill mever get rid of it. Now the busa is anotjer animal but love them both
There's a local busa guy here who rides it rain hail or shine, weighs in at 60kg I reckon, and I respect him absolutely for it. Wouldn't swap my k8 750 for one, but go you good thing! Cheers from down under. 😊
My dad was that kind of rider on his gold ‘73 H2 750. Kid in my 6th grade class said his dad had a motorcycle for sale, $600, and my dad was like ‘yeah ! Let’s go get it !’💨
fact about the Peregrine Falcon: The peregrine falcon is best known for its diving speed during flight-which can reach more than 300 km (186 miles) per hour-making it not only the world's fastest bird but also the world's fastest animal. Hence the name being associated with speed. I might be a bit bias as it is my favourite bird.
My coworker bought a 06 turbo busa with a 330 rear tire as his first motorcycle a few months ago. He said he wanted to buy a bike he wouldn’t have to upgrade to later 😂
Hey, I had many Hayabusas, LOVE THEM!! 67 years old now but in UK not as popular as in the states was. I have 3 different bikes now but seriously thinking to sell them all and repopulate my garage with one Gen1. Thank you so much for this video!!!!!!
The older I get the more I want one. I ride a z900 and keep telling myself it has enough power as a daily rider that I don’t need the BUSA. Deep down though I think about them with envy.
I'm on my 2nd Busa and love it still! Don't care what people think about it. It does the job effortlessly without complaint and is reliable. Can't go wrong!
I've watched this particular yammie noob video three times in the past ten months!! "WHY???", you ask. Well, because I find it hilarious AND there are a lot of great facts and specs in it also. I'm a "dad rider" who loves his Gen ll FJR 1300. Nope, its top speed isn't anywhere near that of the MIGHTY BUSA but, its still a fun, fast (0-60 in 2.8 sec) big, inline 4, Japanese motorcycle, and I've loved those things since I built a KZ 1000 to the HILT way back in my mid 20's. Thanks for the fun content Yammy, and keep'em comin' ! ! !😎
I danced in front of the Busa flame but was too frightened to take the step as a middle aged Nerb! I devoured the technical info and road tests of the then cream eg Gen 1 Busa, Honda Blackbird and Kawasaki ZZR. I walked the Ducati path until 2008 when I finally bought a new Fireblade with all the bling I could find. It dyno'd at 197hp at the rear tyre and weighed in at 180kg. Time to go Busa hunting. My little brother stayed pure! He has and loves his Black stock Gen 2 Busa. When we ride together it goes like a rocket sled and looks so purposfull. The best decision ever made.
The only problem with the hayabusa is that if you are 6'3" tall or taller it won't be good for you at all because the bike simply isn't tall enough to keep your knees at a comfortable level for long distance riding and going around mountains bends is a pain in the ass with all that damn weight. Enters the 2023 bmw s1000 XR/s1000R/M1000R to the rescue. These bikes are tall enough for a 6'3" person plus all can be brought to the race track and ridden back home on the same day, with comfort; as well as going on long distance 1,000 mile(or more) touring without issues to the body !!
The Hayabusa engine and transmission has been used successfully in little cars my favorite of these. Is an old Fiat 850 Spyder it works incredibly well .
I sold my perfect 2000 Red and Gray with 56k on it for $5000. Paid $10,028 out the door at Fay Myers Honda in Denver Colorado in 2000. It was a great motorcycle and never gave me any problems from the day I bought it in July of 2000 to the day I sold it in June 2022. Did 5 Iron Butts on it. Loved it and it was stupid fast. They were rare back in the early production years and I had no idea their sales numbers were over 300,000, Wow. Enjoyed the video.
loved my gen1!!!! made it a 1397 with brock exhaust. very good tune. sold it 12 years later. 60k miles. while i upgraded to a 2018 zx14r the bus is still my favorite
Funny enough. the latest Hayabusa actually has so much safety and driving assist features that it is unironically one of the safest motorcycle out there.
Well I like my first year Suzuki made a 4 stroke, 4 cylinder 2 wheel fun. My '78 GS750E. It is plenty fast when you want. No fuel injection, no ABS, no radiator has a gear indicator and easy to ride hard to keep the front tire down.
I’ve had many Gen 1’s and 2’s. Ohlins, brembo’s, and a big fucking diet. Then loads of instruction and track days. And then a small turbo. I’ve never had a mechanical issue with one. I’ve also owned ZX14R as well. Hayabusa is a sweetheart of a bike.
Great video Yammie. I love how your videos are structured, so clean and nice to watch. Trying to learn the process of making such organized content like this.
My mum got trauma bonded to hyabusa as a passenger like 20 years ago and ever since then she bows to them and goes "hyabusaa" whenever she sees one in person. It's been like this since I was like 8.
I waisted fifteen years of my life riding Harleys, although to me, the Hayabusa will always be the best and the most beautiful bike ever made. Today I ride a Honda NC 750 X, I guess I'll never learn.
If you think they blow up a lot go to the drag strip and see what 90% of the people are running that's probably the best built four-cylinder engine ever made.
Great video, great bike and fantastic young lady at the end of this video. You don't have limitations; you have challenges to overcome. And she did just that. Outstanding.
Honestly i've always been a CBR girl but when my uncle visited with his hayabusa i just felt like something awoke in me lol, the sound it makes is just something else
I bought a 1st gen with 1600 miles on it last summer, my neighbor had it in his garage for 20 years. I'm the 3rd owner, also its completely stock except for the taillights... figured ill make a RUclips video on it cause unless its in a museum I haven't seen one with less than 2k miles on it. 2003 gsx 1300
Man, sorry but I think it's too much claptrap about this bike. As I experienced, it has a perfectly linear engine, the more you want the more you get. If you are are familiar with 100 hp bikes, you can't be surprised in a mean way. Hayabusa is really well sorted, but needs the responsibility of course.

Never did see the appeal of the Hayabusa
@@mhordijk0871so you have bad taste, sorry
@@mhordijk0871 Then why are you here?
‘busa is probably safer than the 600. Insurance company will let you know.
The Busa is a motorcycle that is accessible to everyone, making it a true bike for the working class. Kudos to Koji Yoshiura and Suzuki for making such a magnificent machine available to the masses.
Everyone who's ever seen Biker Boyz knows the Hayabusa was the true King of Cali's bike
The Busa is a beautiful bike! Especially in the right colours.
CBR600RR is a solid choice, how do the insurance rates compare?
HAYABUSA!..even the name sounds badass...love it..Respect to Suzuki and thanks Yammie for this great vid..
CBR1100XX Super Blackbird is a cool name too🦅
What the hell is ugly about the Hayabusa? It`s an iconic piece of design. It`s muscular, flowing, it has personality and it`s timeless. Ugly is just that opinion.
I only hear harley guys saying it's ugly. And cringe gatekeepers like yammie lol.
The Gen 2 is the most beautiful bike ever built. Maybe I’m biased but that’s why I bought one. Comfortable and damn fast. Best of all worlds. ❤
I'm about to turn 40 and I'm going to be the black ranger on a black Busa with you.(don't tell anybody, but I'm white🤫)
That is soo cool
@@Mikaeel84 nothing beats a good sense of humor. My friend may the Busa brother roll on.👍
My friend, the busa existed on 1998,how come u got to ride it in 1976?
@@BlackHasAH2R he hasn't ridden a motorcycle since he was 12, he didn't say he rode a Busa.
Got a gen2 metallic blue/grey busa in my early 30s and rode it all the way from Singapore to Songkla, Thailand (almost 1000km)...riding along those heavenly Malaysian highways..Oh man, thats the best ride of my life !
Thought I wanted a Busa all along, then Yammy shows it in the same color as my beloved R6. Mind blown. Must obtain!
I had the 2004 gen1.. several times going the 1400km from Austria to Paris in one go.. 7hrs45mins.. and arriving feeling fresh and in time for lunch 😀
It's an absolutely beautiful machine that just exudes precisely what it delivers..and I find it strange that people call it 'ugly'. Perhaps due to their resentment that they would never have the courage to ride one.
The stock busa is already an incredible experience..
It's named after the peregrine falcon because peregrines eat blackbirds, which was Hondas fastest bike at the time and that's also why they changed the name to fireblade.
The first gen has a certain beauty IMO.
Honda Super Cub is probably more ‘recognizable’ but in a ‘Ho-Hum’ kinda way. At some crazy production number of like 100 million+ lol.
Zx-14r for life!! Busa are pretty cool though
I own a 2010 zx 14 first gen I love mine. I am intrigued with the busa though I like busa cock pit. I also would love to check out a newer vmax
@@rrf6747whenever I stop by RapeMeNow motorsports, if there’s a ‘busa I always want to sit on it and check out that cockpit.
The motor is likely going to be shoe-horned into my Yamaha Raptor 660 for funsies.
i wanted a busa for so long and this video made me finally buy it. my favourite you tube video ever
The Hayabusa was named after the ACTUAL fastest traveling animal on Earth.. that thing can fly faster than the actual bike tops out at.
Got my license in 2004. My first bike was a -97 Bandit 600.
2 years later i got myself a Black/gray gen 1 Busa, and i still have it today 😍
Personally, I love them. They're beautiful, iconic. It looks like something out of a sci-fi comic book. I sat on one and personally found it surprisingly very comfortable for a sport bike.
However, I see people doing 80 in first gear with the front tire off the ground(or at least that's what being narrated) and went to go find an ostrich hole to stuff my head in.
I still want one. It would be cool if they could just tame it a bit. Maybe make v-twin version for us chicken-shirts.
M109R.
Sounds like it was meant to be
Thats an amazing price grab it asap.
Getting this as my first bike can’t wait
Of course I do! Right now I'd be delighted to have anything that qualifies as a motorcycle. I've had nearly 20 motorcycles since 1989. Had a 2016 636 and crashed in April 2021. For over 2 years now nothing. Not even a cage.
Pretty much all sport bikes look the same (for very good reasons of course: aerodinamics and performance on race, speed, etc), but only the Hayabusa looks absolutely different and to me it was love at first sight: very few angular, sharp edges. It's all rounded and beautiful.
Wanted one years ago when I first saw it. Have bought a gen 2, and after owning it for a year, I want the gen3
Don’t listen to how people bad-talk gen3 just get yourself one you won’t regret it., despite a 7hp difference you won’t notice it., the bike is scary fast - I bought one(bulk/gold) configuration I just love it
Anything 5k on the tac/ and that thing screams
I’m leaving mine stock., customizing them just lowers the value in my opinion- also so many people bad mouth those huge cans on either side but to me they are perfect., good luck and stay safe
I just got a gen 2 as my second bike. My first bike was a duke 390 bc yam told me it was good lmao! So I owe yam for my motorcycle choices
I would rather have a 390. Did you like it?
@2010johnking I had a 2019 duke 390 as much first bike and I really enjoyed it, lots of fun around town or twisty roads

How's the Busa going. Any regrets? I'm thinking about going from a Z400 to a 2024 Busa. Would appreciate your input

I have 45,000 miles on my 2000 and just last week test road the 3rd gen. 3rd gen is great.

Thanks for making me feel proud to be an old, gen1, all original and in good shape, blue busa owner! x
i loved the last 3 minutes of banter at the end, especially. Very awesome

The Huyabusa has been my favourite looking motorcycle ever since I first saw one in real life!
The trick to riding, isn't how fast you go. It is how long you can go fast.
9:51 is gorgeous but it needs lots and lots of rgb lights and chrome!
JUST BOUGHT AN 08 AND IT'S SICK..
Went in the dealership for parts yesterday and guess what was in the showroom!!! Ha Ha wtf, lol!
Always do it!!! Had mine 10 years and never looked back. Got two now 😂
What's your insurance cost on one?
The only problem with the hayabusa is that if you are 6'3" tall or taller it won't be good for you at all because the bike simply isn't tall enough to keep your knees at a comfortable level for long distance riding and going around mountains bends is a pain in the ass with all that damn weight. Enters the 2023 bmw s1000 XR/s1000R/M1000R to the rescue. These bikes are tall enough for a 6'3" person plus all can be brought to the race track and ridden back home on the same day, with comfort; as well as going on long distance 1,000 mile(or more) touring without issues to the body !!
I’m 6’3 and 245lbs each of my busas Gen 1,2 and3 is very comfortable 1-2 hour commutes. Have done 6 hours and feels great.
@@miguelpilgram387 One thing I will say is that the hayabusa is ALOT MORE reliable that BMW for sure !!
The Hayabusa engine and transmission has been used successfully in little cars my favorite of these. Is an old Fiat 850 Spyder it works incredibly well .
How do you reverse?

I think the Hayabusa is the best looking bike ever made
I love mine. Comfortable, fast, and loads of torque.
For normal Jo Blow, change the exhaust, consider a new seat and maybe get a gear indicator on a Gen 1 and leave it at that.
It's a Peregrin Falcon for fks sake, not a Chickadee or a Hummingbird!
Funny enough. the latest Hayabusa actually has so much safety and driving assist features that it is unironically one of the safest motorcycle out there.
It doesn't have some sort of sexual allure (also it's not at all ugly), it just looks like pure power.
Well I like my first year Suzuki made a 4 stroke, 4 cylinder 2 wheel fun. My '78 GS750E. It is plenty fast when you want. No fuel injection, no ABS, no radiator has a gear indicator and easy to ride hard to keep the front tire down.

I just go my license and ready for a Busa!!! My dad said to find a good one cause he wants to ride it too once he gets his license.
