I remember being at the LA Motorcycle Show when the ZX11 was introduced. I was speaking with a Rep from Kawasaki. He told me the original cams designed for the bike were replaced and timing was retarded to get the bike UNDER 200mph. Would love to find a ZX11 and those original cam grind specs.😁😁😁
The ZX11 / ZZ-R 1100 was an extremely fast bike in its prime... Some of the C models I've heard had a few issues mainly in regards to the gearbox. Apparently the original gearbox couldn't handle the torque at the time and if the bike was rammed from pull it sometimes jumped out of 2nd gear. Bearing in mind that the ZX11 is basically it's predecessor's engine which was the ZX10 TOMCAT just with a displacement increase along with minor engine upgrades. From the ' D ' model that was launched in early 93' those issues were eliminated but the bike now was quite a bit heavier with a more sleeker appearance and with a twin ram air system induction system which ( apparently ) made up for the added weight and a softer rear suspension and increase width on the rear wheel from a 17 inch up to an 18 inch which caused the bike to be more of a hyper sports tourer than its previous model but even faster at the redline... I have much respect for the ZZ-R 1100.
Funny that they'd retard it,if you meant just the cam timing ,that'll add up top and take from down low. Nothing's impossible,if all they did was retard can timing I'd bet some machine work can get that back for you.
@@MrTheHillfolk it's the opposite. Retarded timing increases bottom end, taking away from the top. That, along with the change in camshafts, decreased top end. Their desired goal.
Always wanted a busa, now have one. Best bike I've ever rode by far. Most iconic bike ever produced, everyone else has always tried to match its reputation and failed. Will never part with mine, busa boy for life.
My Blackbird was stolen twice. When it was recovered the second time, it fit on a shipping pallet. Something major must have happened for it to get that mangled. I low-key hope it wrote the final chapter in the person who stole it their life. I use to take it to the track. The other riders said I looked like Hailey’s Comet as I threw sparks. The Blackbird wasn’t designed for the track as everything was placed low. Insurance gave me enough to buy an older F3 (600cc). It was a great track bike. It would overheat if I let it idle for too long. I usually parked it the back alley, but my landlord decided to re-pave the parking spots. The first night it was parked on the street, a drunk woman in a minivan hit everything on my side of the street. Cars were pushed into cars & a car was pushed into my bike. She didn’t have insurance and there were at least a dozen cars with significant damage. I was SOL.
Oh man I nearly cried reading this. Just one mangled bike was terrible enough, but TWO mangled bikes???? I'm so sorry for you I hope your luck is better these days.
There's fast little cars in Japan that have Hayabusa engines. There's a couple of airplanes that are powered by Hayabusa engines. They're fast to be sure, but what gets me about them is the engineering.
I've always thought that the people who ride Liter Bikes have accepted death, and there's almost nothing you could do to scare someone who thinks going 175+ on two wheels is not fast enough lol
@@bakters i ride sportbikes at 180mph and pull wheelies at 120 and run from cops on dirtbikes for fun after work and snowboard alone in avalanche zones and do basejumping but if a 2ft long snake was to be near me i would get the biggest panic attack ever
Had a Gen2 for 7 years and loved it. Only changed bikes because the riding position got to me in the end. I needed something more upright. But I enjoyed the Busa immensely. It's one of those bikes that everyone should own.
I had the 1st hayabusa Green Bay ever sold back in 1999. It was ordered the day the literature came out and took months to come in. It was a great wheelie bike. Unbelievably stable at 200+
We knew Bill and sponsored his bike. You can see our sticker on the front under aim at 7:36 Zip Sensors. We met him when I was running my turbo zx14 in okachobee FL. I mean... Mercury Marine legitimately gets up to some absolutely CRAZY shit sometimes with their racing MerCrusiers, sooooo... This could totally actually be done and make an awesome video. 🤷
The replacement for displacement is Chris moores Suzuki gsxr 1000. He went 5:96 at 230mph in the quarter mile (1320ft) no slick and wheelie bar. It’s the fastest no bar street tire motorcycle on the planet. And it’s not even close. And yes it’s faster then a Hayabusa has that 1000 holds the world record.
I'm not a motorcycle guy, but even I remember going to drag strips in college and seeing the first long-tail turbo Hayabusas at the strip doing ungodly times.
This motorcycle it's a legend, that has a rock solid engine, and has gained perhaps the more abundant aftermarket with mods and parts of every kind, so it's relatively ease to build a monster on two wheels (if you have the money)
Bikes are cool, but I also have been fascinated by the old Taurus SHOs. The Yamaha V6 in the 1st and 2nd gen and Cossworth/Yamaha V8 in the 3rd gen were always exciting.
Any car engine that Yamaha helped to design turned to something special. Original Taurus SHO, Toyota's 1.8L in Celica GT-S, 4.8 V10 in Lexus LFA and others.
2007 to 2015? I think Volvo S80 have a Yamaha V8 in them, I had one, comfy car, and with an exhaust they sound nice too even if they aren't a rocket ship. I have a few Triumph Super III with the Cosworth tweaked engines.
Remember seeing a test drive of sorts years ago. It was done on a airfield runway. The police was measuring the speeds with their radars. The end result for Hayabusa is something that i will always remember. Police: You you drive little bit slower? You were too fast for our radar
Buddy of mine has a turbo "Busa that he drag races- extended swingarm and all the goodies. Once he got used to it, watched him at our local strip-1/4 mile-7.76@177. Yeah, they really do go!
I have a real pretty copper 99 busa. By far my favorite bike ever, I can’t wait to turbo it. The power is already insane. I’ve also owned a 93 zx11, still had the power to snap your neck back. A zx12r would be fun too lol
Leave it as it is, you have more than enough power, and you could put in real danger testing a turbo busa, not to mention that the bike will loose value after the mod...
In my younger days I rode a turbocharged and intercooled BMW K75s that developed 170hp. It topped out at 173mph and change and since the speedo didn't go that high, I had to measure the circ of the rear tire and do the math to get my very top speed from the RPM and final drive ratio. I worked at Luftmeister in Paramount CA and lived in Simi Valley and my run to work was at triple digits every. single. day. Work started at 10am so I had the road to myself, mostly. Fun times. I'd like to get my paws on one of these Hayabusas and wring it out across Montana.
That is probably the best way to work out theoretical top speed, you will probably have a little clutch 'creep' and tyre drag but it should be close. I did the same years ago after I had my 490 Maico topped out on a firebreak in the woods, worked out around 130mph which was much too fast on dirt track less than 2ft wide
My first road bike was a 1981 Honda CB900F Super Sport. The power was addicting, I put 400 miles on it riding the freeways in the Western Suburbs of Chicago the Friday night I picked it up before getting home. Not sure how I survived that bike.

Worked at a Suzuki Dealer back when the 300 km/hr limit was set. At the yearly new model / product class the instructor said to us the bike is limited to 186 mph in....TOP gear(6th) via the ECU but can be easily bypassed by regearing final drive and droppin down to 5th .....he also said the US hadnt passed a speed limit law yet but the OEMs hoy together and in Japan that was 300 km/hr. They did it first to keep the speed wars alive for a couple more years by acting like they were complying. He was 109% accurate on all points.
my dads cousin had a banshee quad bike fitted with a custom Hayabusa engine and it had Nos injection, it was made for sand drags. he said it was the scariest thing he had ever been on and that was without using the Nos. Awesome video! Its really cool seeing forced induction mods/builds in the motorcycle scene taking off so much over the last decade. I work at a bike (performance oriented) shop & factory race team, which is a dream job in its entirety, however my absolute favourite jobs are the big hp turbo builds we've done on many bikes, but by far the gsxr1300 and the zx14r are the most insane platforms to build on. Have built two zx14's now that surpass 450hp on kill/high boost, and a cosy safe reliable 300hp on low!
Really cool video! I've always loved the Busa because my father was a huge Suzuki fan and rode many of there bikes. The Busa was his dream bike but he never had the chance to get one unfortunately. What has got me really curious an excited is the new Kawasaki ZX4R bikes! Maybe you could do a video on them sometime?
Love my 2000 TL1000R!! I will never part w that bike, it has every avail carbon part on it, even painted over the CF weave w the yellow factory paint scheme over it and where it would have been black we let the carbon weave show through! So at a glance it looks “somewhat” stock but if you know the bike you’d see it’s far from it! Looks great w the beautiful BST Carbon wheels as well! Building a blown Gen 2 Hayabuss now but love my TL!! Great to see your TLS/R comment, my TLR gets more attention at bike events than any other bike I own!
Yep, these Suzuki Hayabusa,s immediately takes me back to this guy (Hayabusa Custom) that took brand new Hayabusa,s and then do a complete custom job on them. What a work of Art and I still remember his beautiful show stopper bike, called the Ghost if I remember correctly. 👍👍
Great Video Thank you. I grew up thru all the bike era as a youngster. First bike was a 50cc Garelli then Zundaps ,Kreidlers, Yamaha, Suzuki 750 water-pumper. Kawasaki Tripple Mach 3 ,etc. The greatest era of 2 strokes. Then came the Honda K0 then my first Big bike was a Kawasaki z1000 .Drag Raced Suzuki Katana's as well as Kawasaki Z1000 street turbo class. Very little mods except welded cranks and Alternator welding on the Suzukis amongst perhaps valves ,springs and pistons cams etc but not radical machining or mods. Built many bolt on street turbo kits for clients ,most engines were bullet proof from the factory. Always been a Kawasaki Lover and still am. They were always the fastest around generally. Having said that . I have not seen catastrophic failures on any Superbike engines unless pushed way beyond limits on mods. We did few mods and turbos and they ran awsome. Bike engines are there to be used and abused. They were in the old days anyhow.. Not sure now what's around. Some are better and even more reliable than other makes I guess. When the Busa came out it was no doubt a gamechanger and set a standard. I Have built a 2nd Generation Busa turbo and it's fitted into a fiat 500. I am to old and scared to ride bikes now. Done it all and wonder that I and many friends are still alive after what chances we took.Unfortunately many guys I know were not lucky. Some were hosed off the tarmac by the cleanup crew. There was only one throttle position and that was wide open. No regrets. After building such a legendary bike as the Busa and many other great bikes it is a pity that Suzuki pulled out of Moto GP.
Same eara as me (and we have the same name! Turbo Busa in a Fiat 500 sounds a lot of fun, original or the new extra large one? I remember seeing an original Fiat 500 with a Rover V-8 at Santa Pod in the 80's (Poddington, England)

Way way back in 1999 I passed my test (UK) and got an SV650s (Yellow and utterly gorgeous). A year later I took my mates dad's Busa for a spin, I WAS SHITTING MYSELF. But I didn't need to, it was actually a really refined, easy and friendly ride. Open it and cane it, and it would kill you faster than a .50 cal and do more damage. It still astonishes me that the Busa will break ALMOST ALL speed limits across the world.... in first gear!
You are mistaken on so many levels. Busa's are not cornering machines like your canyon carver. Therefore ya have to compare apples to apples. My 636R would destroy your 400 and make it cry like i just took your lunch money and Candy too. Would you happen to be anywhere near the Tail of the Dragon or maybe Skyline Dr?? I would so enjoy proving you wrong.
It'll happen once battery tech is mature. You'd need a machine with more range and power than a Supersport. Once you have both, ICE is dead in motorcycles.
I had an 05 busa and an 05 zx10R. I took both bikes to the drag strip and I was shocked that the zx10R was quicker and faster at the drag strip with me riding both bikes. I sold the busa not long after that.

the first time I saw this bike was in 2008 here on YT. it was a video recorded on a dashboard camera showing the absurd speed of 300km/h in less than 30 seconds. I thought it couldn't be true but after some research to find out what it is I duscivered out that it is the king of bikes.
Good video! Bikes are another level. Unfortunately, they are too dangerous for the average family man. I bought one and couldn't stay off the throttle. I had to sell of it, or it would have killed me.
Thats why I got a honda shadow! I love speed too much. Its perfect for just cruising around on a beautiful day in some local state parks, and just fast enough to comfortably keep up with traffic 👍

Depends some on how you ride. The busa is longer and heavier than the smaller sport bikes. Makes them stable and pretty comfortable. They actually make pretty good touring bikes. And, the large powerband can make them really nice to ride since you have power in any gear at almost any rpm. Often they didn’t get many miles since they it seems most were bought for show. They’d get pulled out every so often to show off then put away again.
I have a Turbo Busa. They aren’t just used to make ungodly amounts of power for bikes. A few sports car manufacturers use them and lots of people do custom car engines with them. Westfield megabusa uses them and caterham and Aerial Atom makes a V8 out of 2 engines for their cars and does a supercharged V8. I’ve also seen them in bubble cars doing stupid speeds even bending chassis due to the power.
No .... 4 cylinder reving to 10.5k rpm stroke it and big bore and see if it can rev to 10.5k susuki know what there doing, you dont. They spent lots of money and time making the most powerfull bike engine, you didn't.
@@kovacevd who is this susuki that I have never heard of? 'Suzuki' doing the research for long term and reliability. You can still do high revolution with bigger bore, long stroke is the challenge.
Same!! You are 10000% correct
The only thing that ever scared me more than a Hayabusa was a Triumph Speed Triple
Your life might not be long
Until you ride a VMAX
Same here Brotha,,,,, r-6, GSXR -750 and finally a Blackbird dream bike,,,, smooth and vicious !! At 60 My last bike as well
My Blackbird was stolen twice.
I was SOL.
Crazy story. 😢
damn
Gotta love having insurance and them not paying for shit.
Oh man I nearly cried reading this. Just one mangled bike was terrible enough, but TWO mangled bikes???? I'm so sorry for you I hope your luck is better these days.
That is BS. Some people are just garbage. This is why i keep my bike in my house lol
There's fast little cars in Japan that have Hayabusa engines. There's a couple of airplanes that are powered by Hayabusa engines. They're fast to be sure, but what gets me about them is the engineering.
Not me hitting the like button before the ad even ends because I already know this is going to be amazing keep them coming!!!

Every single video he's done!
I've always thought that the people who ride Liter Bikes have accepted death, and there's almost nothing you could do to scare someone who thinks going 175+ on two wheels is not fast enough lol
Some people only feel truly alive when their system is flooded with adrenaline.
Don't tell anyone, but you could scare me with a mouse.
thats why you gotta do it on 1 wheel

Had a Gen2 for 7 years and loved it. Only changed bikes because the riding position got to me in the end. I needed something more upright. But I enjoyed the Busa immensely. It's one of those bikes that everyone should own.
Excellent videos as always. Straight to the point and extremely informative.
We made custom egts and other sensors for him. He was a gentleman and a good friend. Sad news and loss for motorsports the day he went.
I'm glad it happened too.
Gen 2 450 horsepower turbo owner here .
Best bike on the planet & great video
Agreed best bike on the planet. I own both a Gen1 and a Gen2.
That is nuts.
Most aerodynamic lol. It looks like a fat sea lion
And yet you can’t use the full potential of at 125 cc scooter
Ugly bike
Your production is entertaining i bet you could make boat engines interesting
next up detroit and cummins diesels lol
I mean... Mercury Marine legitimately gets up to some absolutely CRAZY shit sometimes with their racing MerCrusiers, sooooo... This could totally actually be done and make an awesome video. 🤷
The era when this battle was going on was a really fun time to be into bikes.
I've been building turbo busas since 2000 and over the years I've done hundreds of these bikes. Its a great platform.
yum yum... i wonder what you can do with my old school bandit 1200
Watching exhausts start to glow must be one of the coolest sights in motorsport
Heck that happens on my regular Suzuki! That is a DR650... glows cherry red at 70mph!
Love the tech videos. Keep it up !
Will do
The replacement for displacement is Chris moores Suzuki gsxr 1000. He went 5:96 at 230mph in the quarter mile (1320ft) no slick and wheelie bar. It’s the fastest no bar street tire motorcycle on the planet. And it’s not even close. And yes it’s faster then a Hayabusa has that 1000 holds the world record.
Man this channel is so clean. I just love the animations and style, your voice goes perfectly with the vibe of your content road to a milli sub bro
I'm not a motorcycle guy, but even I remember going to drag strips in college and seeing the first long-tail turbo Hayabusas at the strip doing ungodly times.
The bike that took over 2 wheel drag racing
This motorcycle it's a legend, that has a rock solid engine, and has gained perhaps the more abundant aftermarket with mods and parts of every kind, so it's relatively ease to build a monster on two wheels (if you have the money)
I have seen channels with quality production value content, but this is on different level...
It’s only gonna get better too😏
Bikes are cool, but I also have been fascinated by the old Taurus SHOs.
Yep I had gen1 and gen2 SHO , LOVE THEM!!

This might be the most informative motorcycle documentary and your narration is right up there with James Earl Jones.
This is why I'm hanging on to my 07 Hayabusa still factor and still turning miles every chance I get thanks for the history lesson 👍🏾
My first road bike was a 1981 Honda CB900F Super Sport. The power was addicting, I put 400 miles on it riding the freeways in the Western Suburbs of Chicago the Friday night I picked it up before getting home. Not sure how I survived that bike.
CC that was my first moto-commuter and I loved it until I got addicted to real speed 1984 VF1000F that I purchased while on travel and drove across country! I've since retired to Harley-Davidson's motorcycles!
@@boomerzman6148 My SV650 with intake, fueling, suspension and exhaust mods was a fantastic sport bike for the canyons. I now ride a 2014 DL1000 A (V Strom).
Here in ATL when you see a Busa, it's either boosted to high hell, or riced to high hell.
But hey, still sick no matter what!
The 1st gen was the fastest stock bike .. They're rare in gold and silver nowdays . A lad i know had a turbo charged one and dominated drag races on that thing .. Awesome bike !!!
I'm a car guy first and foremost but this video was brilliant, would love to see more bikes!
my cat loves u too!
I'm all about cars but I've always admired Suzuki Hayabusa, probably the most legendary motorcycle
Another great video, Mr 337 Speed.
You're rather good at this 👍
Undeniably you produce the most amazing performance videos, so captivating! Thank you!
my dads cousin had a banshee quad bike fitted with a custom Hayabusa engine and it had Nos injection, it was made for sand drags. he said it was the scariest thing he had ever been on and that was without using the Nos. I dont know much about bikes but it use to get raced at Ponde if i recall correctly.
Moore mafia collaboration developed a 300+hp turbo busa on a safe tune. They have not yet released the dyno on what the bike made on a crazy tune
Excellent Video, I began riding motorcycles in 1968, I've had some very fast bikes and some of the one's that were the beginning of the super bikes, this is my first video on this channel and you have a new subscriber, Thank you Sir. 🏍
Yes more bikes please, really love the engineering of them
Love when the algorithm actually gives me a banger video and a great new channel!

Thank you for reminding people of the OG. A turbo Hayabusa will still mop the floor with an H2
The Busa will live on with Drag Racers across the country for ever !!! 👍🏁
Finally you did it fam!
Why do Hayabusas destroy everything!!!!!
A very well produced, informative & entertaining video.
There has never been a GSX1300R, it's just a GSX, Sport Tourer
Really cool video! I've always loved the Busa because my father was a huge Suzuki fan and rode many of there bikes. The Busa was his dream bike but he never had the chance to get one unfortunately. What has got me really curious an excited is the new Kawasaki ZX4R bikes! Maybe you could do a video on them sometime?
Your visuals and graphics are fantastic. Super intuitive for visual learners.
Glad you like them!
Always liked the TLS and TLR bikes too. Owned all the SV's and have a V-strom now.
Thank you so much for this, we appreciate you & what you do for us. More bikes please & cheers !

Ok hear me out.... We take a highly modified Hayabusa engine and put in a 50's VW Beetle. We then paint it like Herbie and under the hood we put "Herbie's little secret."
An Old School Bandit 1200 air and oil cooled engine would be more than enough for a Compact powerful Beetle Bug!
Don't know much about bikes, but I don't care. With the quality of videos you produce I'll watch anything.
the time effort and quality u put into this video is amazing....couldnt skip even a second...great job bro...would love to get a busa someday...actually quite inexpensive in India

It makes me extremely happy to know that somebody, somewhere was insane enough to strap 1000hp to a motorcycle. 😆
Great content, voice, quality, and graphics. just subbed!
Let’s be real with the knowledge this man has, he should design a badass engine.
Love the Busa - I own a 99. Long live the king of speed.

Since it's been refined to have great aero performance, this might be a great platform to do EV restomods to.
They'll need improved tires.
In totally all in for it. Unfortunately not much people have done it or put the proper batt/controller to have the desired performance
So we are just going to ignore the unrestricted h2
The Hayabusa has always been my #1 favourite sports bike. Hopefully I will be able to Purchase and Ride it someday
Great video! Would be nice if you included speed in km/h also.
Multiply by 1.6 ...you're welcome So 100kmh is 62 mph 200km 124 300km 186 same as top speed limited thats why all the super bikes have 300 kph speedos
Great info and narration, keep it up man!

I don't deny that good head design is critical to flow and power. But boost is NOT a measure of restriction. It is a measure of charge compression.
The end dialogue was said really well. 😊 one day and may come to an end where these 1400 300 cc bikes are no longer here it’s very interesting.
It'll happen once battery tech is mature. You'd need a machine with more range and power than a Supersport. Once you have both, ICE is dead in motorcycles.
Great video and great information, love the enthusiasm for the engineering behind it!

If they are reading your comment , they probably do know how they accelerate.
Try a turbo busa if you think yours is quick
im reading this and ive never been on a busa
I had an 05 busa and an 05 zx10R. I took both bikes to the drag strip and I was shocked that the zx10R was quicker and faster at the drag strip with me riding both bikes. I sold the busa not long after that.
Yep, demo rode a 2017 a few years ago. They are pretty sweet!
Never had a Hayabusa but I had a CBR 1100 XX, the smoothest bike I ever had, and then a ZX12r which was a powerhouse for me even faster than the first Gen busa. What a beautiful era.
I had the Hyabusa and superblackbirds , 4 in total , the blackbird was the better machine in my opinion, I had a lot of big bikes over a 20 yr period, an 06 zx10r was my favourite bike of lots owned , cheers Shane uk 🇬🇧 , ps I rode them all very hard to there limits
the first time I saw this bike was in 2008 here on YT. it was a video recorded on a dashboard camera showing the absurd speed of 300km/h in less than 30 seconds.
I have always loved the Bush and the GXSR 750 Suzuki's were never slow.
I remember when I was about 20 looking for a CBR 600; or GSX-R 600 and remember seeing a bunch of Busas for sale with almost no miles on them. I wonder if a bunch of people bought to much bike and were scared of them.
Thats exactly what happened... Hayabusa gen 1 is scary not only because of hp but the delivery is just insane . Today bikes literally do everything for you, back then it was all on you.
@@ΑλεξανδροςΑμανατιδης-ι7ε I still want a bike and I can afford what I want. However watching how people drive in the USA keeps me away from one.
I know some people who traded their 1st gen Busas for Gixxer 1000s. They were not scared, they just didn't like the handling and the brakes.
Low compression and high engine displacement is the key. Stroker and big bore kit would made it even monster of an engine.
Also having bigger stroke means bigger displacement, so force induction can be introduced. Making the cylinder bigger by those methods means lower compression ratio.
Your voice gives a tension to the facts that makes this a compelling watch
I think Suzuki knew what they were doing naming it the Hayabusa, considering it eats (honda) blackbirds.
