Imo it’s still early so ppl will prob find something labbing.
Me personally found out that d-tilt to up air at around 113% is a kill confirm on some characters. You basically have to be frame perfect while doing it though cause he/she is slow.
Also if ur opponent is on the top battlefield platform, you can up-b into side-b and it can also kill at spike percentages.
(For Sheik.) Just up b at hard to predict angles. It worked last patch, it got buffed his patch. Works better and safer on stages with platforms than omega. It is really good at punishing dash grabs since you get i-frames on startup.
She can kill, Inkling probably has a harder time killing or maybe diddy

Byleth is pretty forgiving. It’s the perfect character for someone who hasn’t played Smash.
And for me, someone who played Smash for a long time, can't play Byleth properly and gets bodied easily.

I actually disagree with this a little bit. You definitely need to space her moves properly to play optimally, and new players tend to spam smash attacks - and oh boiiiii, F-smash is sooo punishable if not done appropriately. her really good moves - F-air and B-air also have to be timed to hit shorter opponents. I think this is good for people who have a little experience with Smash and want to improve on spacing, or just want to have fun. I can see a lot of newcomers getting frustrated playing her lol

Byleth is kinda a mix of all the Fire Emblem characters. They have projectiles like Robin or Corrin, big range like Marth and Lucina and insane killing power like Ike, Roy, Chrom and Ike.
They have the potential of being a very powerful character under the right hands!

Byleth has one projectile attack with 2 variations. It's not much of a projectile game so much as just another option to add pressure or fight back against the never ending zone spammers. Nothing like Robin's arsenal. I agree with the spacing comparison to Marth though since Byleth does have reach and is rewarded for tippers on certain attacks. As for killing power, Byleth hits harder than any of the other FE cast currently, which is probably another reason why their movement speed is almost non-existent. Byleth is nothing like the other FE cast, which is a huge relief for someone like me who loves that franchise, but is also sick of the Marth echo fighters.

I don’t think any of the echoes are going anywhere next game. They’re easy to develop for, and please the fans of those characters. The main characters I don’t see coming back are the Konami reps some of clones like toon link, and dr mario.

@Major Thought Ahead Yeah, Raptor Boost is inconsistent also. Against opponents running directly away from him on the ground, it has the tendency to stop where they just were and have Captain Falcon punch the air where they used to be.

Tbh based on my experience for a day Byleth seems to be the easiest character to practice spikes and recover, since the recovery for this character is crazy good
Good at recovery, horrible at spiking fast recovery characters.
Not so sure the recovery is very good if your opponent has a multihit. They just wait til you tether then drop straight down with the multihit and you die super early esp if you aren't good at stage teching.

@@LeonCamero what? I mean as soon as their tether hits ledge if you drop down with a multihit it catches them. Forces them to reel up instantly which can also be punished with a ledgetrump. Byleth recovery is very predictable and while it does let them come back from pretty far, predictable is bad.

Can we talk about how (I think) EVERYONE got a shield buff when Byleth came out? Seriously, his/her shield damage is insane!
They dont have more health its just physically large
They didn’t improve the health of the shield, they just made it harder to get shield poked by making the shield bigger.

@@ethandickie I probably should have phrased that a bit better. What I meant is that Byleth's range and shield damage would make her a crazy shield poker if there wasn't any buffs to the shield sizes

Up b starts meteoring at 50%. And, for the casuals, her Final Smash is hella broken: FSM final smash kills at 20% from the opposite end of the stage.
Yes final smash is hella good, and you're sent almost vertically
Drag down nair or (depending on DI) non-meteor Up B combo into it. If you combo it from Up B it probably can kill at 0 because you're already in the air

It's interesting how Sakurai managed to represent the gameplay of the franchise properly with only Robin and Byleth, Robin represent resource management on the battlefield and spamming magic cuz magic is good
Byleth represent the more tactical part of slowly getting your opponent to play into your hands and your most powerful moves are axe and lance attacks because those two weapon types were by far the 2 best until 3 houses came along and made bows good
Also i like that Byleth is as ridiculously strong as they say they are in 3 houses
From what I've heard, 3H is the first time axes have been good in a long time. I thought sword was always the good one.
@@SomeRandomDude821 you've heard wrong, 3 Houses is the first time axes and lances are more balanced, being closer to swords now and bows are just super good in general now, until now it's always been that bows were the worst cuz they couldn't counter at close range and were locked to 2 range (with a few exceptions here and there), swords were the second worst cuz the only ranged swords that existed were super limited levin swords while lance and axe users could just spam throwing axes and javelins
there's a reason why cavalry and flying classes are considered the by far best classes out there cuz they more often than not have access to lances and sometimes axes on top of having more movement than other classes, especially the fliers who can ignore terrain (and in the older games those two types were even better because of the rescuing mechanics and the canto ability)

I feel like down smash is very important to mention, because even though her grab is awful, it still ensures the opponent cannot block recklessly. The shield damage is so insane, single charge arrow -> down smash breaks shield, forward or back air tipper -> down smash breaks shield, down air -> down smash breaks shield. Along with her down b basically being a ganon neutral-b in terms of killing power, anyone above 40% has to keep an eye of their shield at all times. This also synergizes well with her kit since the answer would be to jump a lot, but then Byleth gets to up-tilt, up-smash and up-air you more easily.
laogon09 Some issues though are that the down smash has to be charged to actually break the shield fully on top of being slow. Her down air while having nice pressure is just beyond slow and is just as easy to punish. Better for it to be used as a spike off stage rather than actually being used as a move to pressure shields with. Her Down B and charged neutral B should never land not be able to be used to successfully pressure a shield at higher skill brackets except for maybe doubles. Her shield pressure honestly comes from moves that are just too slow and punishable to justify. If anything is worth considering as decent shield pressure that’s practical to use, only her down smash comes to mind.
@@saintlucifer4131 The thing is that it doesn't have to be charged if you landed a tipper fair or bair recently, which happens quite often, it has basically the shield breaking power or lucina's neutral b. The point being that while it won't happen so often at high level, the reason it doesn't happen is because the threat of it makes it a very bad idea to ever hold shield, which is good for Byleth since she wants to poke from midrange or hit airborne opponents with her up options. I don't think she's top tier or anything, just that most top players I watched don't seem to talk about it nearly as much as I think they should considering how well it suits her kit.

I love how every youtube video has byleth killing at 40 or whatever, and I'm at home struggling to kill at 130 and getting circle camped.
It's not just you. In elite smash, i'm constantly getting zoned out by all the links and samus's.

Byleth is a not a sword character but a weapons master, change my mind
Typically a "sword character" in smash refers to a character that has long totally disjointed moves. It's usually a weapon because that makes the most physical sense for that much disjoint. Starting from Smash 64 and Melee, the first examples of these kind of hitboxes were characters with swords like Link, and then Marth and Roy etc. The Belmont's are Zoners that have low mobility, projectiles and sword Aerials, tilts, and smash attacks which means they are hybrid Swordie/Projectile characters just like Link. So regardless of whatever artistic model/animation the long, completely disjointed moves happen to have, they function identically to a sword. And since the first of these archetypes used swords, we refer to them as "Swordies."
Byleth was definitely the easiest dlc character for me to beat he’s so slow so I could easily get in and combo him

Every move has so much lag that it's reactable. They're so slow that killing becomes an actual challenge for them so it's fun to play against them because the game plan becomes simple.

Well i know that with robin and corrin atleast, the female characters in the game are just more put together characters that tend to make more sense. I havent played a lot of three houses but it seems that there is a lot more in depth version of conversation so their personality it whatever you want.

MKLeo said in his stream that this character is probably mid-tier with a lot of potential in the long run. Either way we should probably wait for him to get results first since he plans to main this character in some Mexican tournaments before using him in some majors.
Other than that, really fun character that can throw people off since he/she plays so different from other Fire Emblem characters.

Yeah he has some really strong moves and all but a lot of end lag and he is extremely slow which is not a great thing in ultimate.
I'd say he is a mid tier but probably has the potential to grow.
@@saifojio2259 I'm surprised so many people say room to grow... I feel like it's the other way around more. Byleth has a few gimmicks, few combos and tons of slowness. Seems like a character that will get exploited more as people are them more.

As a falcon main I'm mixed of byleth since if I run up and see them go for a attack I usually shield then punish but with byleth the shield just leads me to getting punished

Yeah I was playing as falcon earlier vs a ton of byleths and it's so ridiculously easy to punish her I literally shield and up b out of shield now that she's in disadvantage I push which gives my shield time to Regen rinse and repeat
Byleth counters excessive shielding. All her Amyr (axe) moves demolish shields like a hot knife through butter, and the command grab is good too.

Hey zero love the videos! I have a suggestion for more content for you, only because i feel like you are one of few that can make these videos and it be credible. I want to see videos on individual characters in the game where you score the characters based on your own usage of the character. All characters start at 100 (A+). Usual slow characters would have overpowered moves so that when their moves do hit, it's mostly the other players' fault

Byleth's MP/GO sauce/ wonderwing/ Arsene gimmick is called waifu thirst. This ability allows the player to over look her flaws and the fire emblem stigma causing the player to main her over time.

Backwards nair confirms into full hop back air from about 50 to 65 percent. Your welcome. It also works at 70 and it kills at this percent but it is EXTREMELY difficult to land. Worth the lab tho. I'm currently experimenting with up b into dragdown up air into up smash.

In my opinion she’s going to be very niche in one V ones in tournaments but she may thrive in team battle
Even though I was one of the people excited about Byleth in smash, I definitely have to admit that I wasn't a big fan of his playing style when I first tried them out.
I actually main Lucina, so my type of gameplay is fast and aggressive, but Byleth being such a slow character really messed with me.
Even though they are strong, they're pretty slow and that's very different from my usual playing style.
Usually, I rely on fast characters and focus on weaker attacks mixed with faster combos, so I wasn't sure if I would end up liking Byleth after all, but after remembering that Byleth is actually a distance character, it actually helped me out a lot and when I went back to try the character, I did a lot better since I kept in mind that I should keep my distance against other opponents.

Zero, i don't think you talked enough about Byleth's n-special. with canceling you can trick opponents to jump and does decent shielddamage. backtrow n-special can surprise the opponent to

Gonna watch but my first impression is that they get absolutely bodybagged by any character with a decent projectile or decent speed. So like 85% of the cast.
I bet our fanbase can still reduce it to an extreme of Good or Bad without further analysis or a bias towards portrayal of the truth! :D
@Voidaken I mean... I main a fast character with a good projectile and byleth cannot do anything to pika. I can circle camp with tjolt and byleth just has to sit there and take it. She cannot do anything about it. There's a lot of characters like that.
She struggles to land cause of bad air speed, besides the axe moves that break shield and fair/bair she's mega laggy on shield with bad throws. Those in combination means shes easy to ledgetrap for a long time
