(great names huh?) The scriptwriters have to pitch ideas for videos that they want to make for subjects they are passionate about, but they're pretty much always turned down and given these corporate clickbaity videos on subjects they don't know or are not passionate about. Now you would think the writers would put in the effort to do the research and make the video as well as they can right? well these types of channels only hire people on a freelance basis, this is done so that they don't have to pay a consistent wage and can get away with underpaying their staff. Instead of being paid for the hours they put in, they get paid on the basis of how many scripts they finish, and from what my friend has told me, they don't pay that well either. This just this corporate structure creates a culture of just blazing through as much work as you can as quick as you can. to put it briefly QUANTITY over quality. The voice-overs are freelance too, they aren't required to do any research, or know anything about games in general as long as they have a good voice and "read script good" then that's all the gamer asks of them. they're just grinding through as many scripts as they can. It's the same for editors too, you don't have to know or understand what the games really about you just need grind through as many videos as you can to put food on the table. these channels just pump out this Junkfood clickbaity content because it shows up in the sidebar and people end up clicking on it and watching long enough to make some revenue. They don't value quality in the slightest, they just want to produce as much as they can and quickly and cheaply as they can. sorry for the essay. I usually don't click on any video that is blatantly click-baiting with huge arrows or red circles in the thumbnails. Over the years I've spent on this website, I now know that those things are pretty much a guarantee that the video will be an absolute waste of time.
I've done a little bit of digging and it looks like TheGamer is owned by a Canadian corporation called Valnet Inc, which is just a massive content farm with their hands in every type of video from kid's animation (yes, nursery rhymes and Elsa) to crafts to, of course, pop culture. It's really crazy. If you look at their website, they make it abundantly clear that all they only care about clicks, and the company Twitter is constantly talking about the subscriber count of their channels. It's wild.
i worked for valnet briefly on their written content. they own a ton of online publications and most just do lists and such. one of their websites is called the gamer. the issue is they pay VEEEERRY little so i am not shocked at their low quality videos

I despise TheGamer with a burning passion. From what I've seen from them, a lot of their content is pushed out as quickly as possible; often their videos are pretty lackluster and low quality, and sometimes they even rip off other content. For example, they put out a video on 10 Unlucky Speedrun Fails, one of which referred to a run where the runner was about 54 seconds ahead of a world record pace, and lost the run on the final boss because a fast final boss depended on hitting a button, which spawned in random locations in the arena, including some that can't be reached in time before the button moves again. The script for that entry in their fails video was ripped almost word for word from Apollo Legend's video he made on Unlucky Speedrun Fails before TheGamer's. Sometimes they will even outright lie to get clicks; a speedrunner known as Luzbelheim was recently banned from Games Done Quick (the biggest speedrunning marathon ever) for 18 months over some comments he made on his own Twitter, including the mention of him hating feminazism, and one where he expressed support for the economic policy of a right wing political party in his country known as Vox. TheGamer was quick to side with the authoritarian SJWs who are invading our gaming communities and make him out as a "far-right ultranationalist", though this was not the truth, nor was it possible to conclude that from only the mention of the economic policy of Vox alone (which by the way is free market capitalism). The writer of that desperate hitpiece also said that Luzbelheim expressed comments to "rip and tear through Iran" during his run; this was a different runner at Games Done Quick entirely. Not only will they lie, but they would also be willing to slander someone's reputation and defame them just for a bit of extra revenue. The article proceeded to completely trash Vox such as Vox being a party that regularly discriminates against Muslims and is out to repeal a law that protects women from domestic violence, while intentionally leaving out the fact that Vox wants to replace that law with one that offers a more generalized protection against said violence. Despite knowing how the article will make Luzbelheim appear to be one with all of these negative things that Vox is and fuel the most authoritarian of SJWs, that article was written all the same. Surely, these media outlets must be dying, and for good reasons. Down with TheGamer.

He's doing better as I can say, but sadly, everyone's perspective towards ZeRo's past actions, won't change. Honestly, I'm okay with your thumbnails being "clickbait-y". It's my opinion that people who aren't okay with your thumbnails don't understand that enticing viewers to watch is EXACTLY what video thumbnails EXIST FOR. So in my mind, there are both "positive" and "negative" clickbaits. Yours, ZeRo, are POSITIVE because your videos DELIVER ON THE PROMISE established by the thumbnail/title. The Gamer's thumbnails are NEGATIVE (And extremely negative) because they essentially trick you into watching something you didn't want to watch. This "negative" definition is what most people think about when hearing the word "clickbait". It's rough, though, because people's ideas of what clickbait means varies wildly, and some people will outright refuse to click on a video if they perceive it as such. It's almost like the more interesting it looks, the more likely it is to be too good to be true. It seems impossible to find a "balance", because as a creator, you should be making the most interesting thumbnails possible to drive viewership, but you also don't want to lose potential viewers due to people thinking you're "clickbaiting" them... Then again, looking at The Gamers' view/sub counts, I guess it must work pretty well regardless! 😂

I've done a little bit of digging and it looks like TheGamer is owned by a Canadian corporation called Valnet Inc, which is just a massive content farm with their hands in every type of video from kid's animation (yes, nursery rhymes and Elsa) to crafts to, of course, pop culture. It's really crazy. If you look at their website, they make it abundantly clear that all they only care about clicks, and the company Twitter is constantly talking about the subscriber count of their channels. It's wild.

I despise TheGamer with a burning passion. From what I've seen from them, a lot of their content is pushed out as quickly as possible; often their videos are pretty lackluster and low quality, and sometimes they even rip off other content. For example, they put out a video on 10 Unlucky Speedrun Fails, one of which referred to a run where the runner was about 54 seconds ahead of a world record pace, and lost the run on the final boss because a fast final boss depended on hitting a button, which spawned in random locations in the arena, including some that can't be reached in time before the button moves again. The script for that entry in their fails video was ripped almost word for word from Apollo Legend's video he made on Unlucky Speedrun Fails before TheGamer's.
Sometimes they will even outright lie to get clicks; a speedrunner known as Luzbelheim was recently banned from Games Done Quick (the biggest speedrunning marathon ever) for 18 months over some comments he made on his own Twitter, including the mention of him hating feminazism, and one where he expressed support for the economic policy of a right wing political party in his country known as Vox. TheGamer was quick to side with the authoritarian SJWs who are invading our gaming communities and make him out as a "far-right ultranationalist", though this was not the truth, nor was it possible to conclude that from only the mention of the economic policy of Vox alone (which by the way is free market capitalism). The writer of that desperate hitpiece also said that Luzbelheim expressed comments to "rip and tear through Iran" during his run; this was a different runner at Games Done Quick entirely. Not only will they lie, but they would also be willing to slander someone's reputation and defame them just for a bit of extra revenue. The article proceeded to completely trash Vox such as Vox being a party that regularly discriminates against Muslims and is out to repeal a law that protects women from domestic violence, while intentionally leaving out the fact that Vox wants to replace that law with one that offers a more generalized protection against said violence. Despite knowing how the article will make Luzbelheim appear to be one with all of these negative things that Vox is and fuel the most authoritarian of SJWs, that article was written all the same. Surely, these media outlets must be dying, and for good reasons.

It ‘could’ have still been a transformation stage given the way the trailer played out, and Dracula could have been like Yellow Devil. Rathalos is an Assist Trophy, so we didn’t know how bosses worked at the time.

He then was banned permanently from all tournaments. Afterwards, he went on to Twitter to explain the whole situation and apologized and regretted for his wrongdoings. He's doing better as I can say, but sadly, everyone's perspective towards ZeRo's past actions, won't change.
This entire paragraph was focused on only ZeRo and his struggle, although I did mention a little about Nairo. However, Nairo was involved in a different situation which resulted in the same outcome as ZeRo.
I agree, I hope he returns to RUclips or is at least doing better.

Honestly, I'm okay with your thumbnails being "clickbait-y". It's my opinion that people who aren't okay with your thumbnails don't understand that enticing viewers to watch is EXACTLY what video thumbnails EXIST FOR. So in my mind, there are both "positive" and "negative" clickbaits. Yours, ZeRo, are POSITIVE because your videos DELIVER ON THE PROMISE established by the thumbnail/title. The Gamer's thumbnails are NEGATIVE (And extremely negative) because they essentially trick you into watching something you didn't want to watch. This "negative" definition is what most people think about when hearing the word "clickbait". It's rough, though, because people's ideas of what clickbait means varies wildly, and some people will outright refuse to click on a video if they perceive it as such. It's almost like the more interesting it looks, the more likely it is to be too good to be true. It seems impossible to find a "balance", because as a creator, you should be making the most interesting thumbnails possible to drive viewership, but you also don't want to lose potential viewers due to people thinking you're "clickbaiting" them...
Then again, looking at The Gamers' view/sub counts, I guess it must work pretty well regardless! 😂
