      @@TheExpediterBoogie Nice video what do you haul exactly and can you be hired as a solo driver what's the annual gross for beginners, does the truck have driver face cameras what's the longest period do you wait for loading and off loading and are you driving strictly OTR over the road ?

    • @TheExpediterBoogie
      @TheExpediterBoogie  Год назад +1

      @@socialcommunication169 I'm sorry I didn't see your comment earlier. The truck is through Hyfield Trucking and they do no work with solo's only team drivers. You can expect around 120k-150k per year average salary. the truck does not have inward facing cameras only outward facing dash cams which is our choice not required but highly suggested. the loading and off loading times vary per customer but mostly we are in and out very quickly due to the nature of the freight. This is an OTR position if you would like to know more reach out to hyfieldtrucking.com and let them know you found them from the expediter boogie 🙂

    When I drove from 1988 to 2000 I had an 8ft square box behind my Aerodyne cabover with full facilities. But, I had a normal RV toilet where I had to dump once a week (20gal), but most Flying J's have dumps. I carried 75 gal of water and 10gal water heater, 75gal of gasoline for the generator (6.5kw Onan Commercial), 300gal fuel, 25 gal gray. Everything was set up so I could run for a week taking showers everyday. Once you have the ability to use the bathroom, shower, shave, eat in the truck and sleep-truly independent of truck stops, ALL tension of being on the road goes away. I'm always amazed not more truckers don't get bigger sleepers like this beautiful one! I did furniture moving.

    I just drove something with lane departure active assist where it detects that you’re weaving and it’ll steer a little to keep you in the lane. You can oversteer through it if you’re purposely changing lanes without a blinker but if you keep a light hand on it, it’ll steer around Turns for you

  • @t-yoonit
    @t-yoonit 4 года назад +1

    Adaptive cruise and lane departure are an absolute pain in the ass. Blind spot monitoring is nice to have though.
    My last job I had a 2019 old body cascadia. I loved the heated and cooled seat, the DT12 was nice but I wasn't a fan of it on hilly areas or in snow until it was unlocked (corporate had it locked in econ initially)
    Now I have a Kenworth T880, it doesn't have the heated/cooled seat but the ride is amazing especially when hauling a 125,000lb tanker. 525 ISX and an 18sp Eaton manual. No log book and no governor! I love it. Never been more comfortable on the road until I drove without a dang logbook.
    Stay safe out there!

    God that bought back memories, beautiful truck. I started my driving career fresh out of truck driving school with a freight shaker FL70 w/72" hitop sleeper, decked out for the time with all the goodies. I made some good money with that truck. I so kick myself in the ass, as I had the chance to buy the truck 3yrs old with 72,000 miles only ever driven by the owner and I for the rest of the bank note, which was like $35,000 ish sticker said I think $78,000. Yea was young and soooooo dumb. Truck was making $3500 weekly sometimes more and I was home 98% of the time. If I could have gone back and kicked my own ass I'd be walking around with a limp lol dumb

    Wow! I am drooling! I've driven for CR England (Every New Guy Leaves After Ninety Day) and then Knight (other than low pay, no real complaints about them). I am currently a daily driver for Dr. Pepper (normally averaging 70K/year but with the Chinese virus bonus [which is still in effect], I'm making 84K/year) while I try to launch a business. Trying to start a biz while doing OTR is, as I found out the hard way, nearly impossible. But I really do miss OTR. Being unmarried with no dependents, I had the full freedom to do it. When I was doing it, I didn't have any apartment or house but lived in my truck so my only bill was my cellphone. If my business doesn't take off or fails, I plan to go back doing OTR until my body forces me to retire. I miss seeing the country. Ever changing landscape. Driving down the road for hours while listening to audio books. Living on the road. Staying in beautiful rest areas. Man, if I had your truck, that would have been Heaven. The only thing my last truck had was a refrigerator and a tiny little freezer in the top of it. It had a bunk bed which I didn't use so it was just for storage and not very good storage at that. Nothing else. NOTHING like what you have. How did you get the truck/gig you got? If you don't mind, what's the pay? Are you on a set route or can you be sent all over the country? Do you have to team to get your kind of truck? Can I have my girlfriend come along with me full-time but not her be a driver?
    Oh, and I'm your newest subscriber. :-) Time to check out your other videos.

      I found out about expediting online and started over 11 years ago. We are not on a set route we drive all 48 states and Canada. The pay is not by the mile but a percentage of what the truck makes we get 40% after fuel surcharge and tolls. In expediting it’s super difficult to make it as a solo due to the nature of our freight but if your girlfriend wanted to drive to you can make a decent living.

    If I was an owner operator I would go for a small sleeper to increase the cargo capacity. Because here in Australia you are in the Hr class because of weight and size but have the cargo capacity of a MR so one class down. Sure I might not have a shower/toilet but I still think I would go for the euro style of rigid truck.

The day cab version of the cascadia with that big black box on the windshield is a huge blind spot for me. I’m 6’3” tall and it sits right in my line of vision. The newest Freightliner entering our fleet had a much smaller footprint for the forward looking windshield cam, about the size of a cellphone.

When the brakes lock up you can't bypass it by hitting the break so im just along for the ride at that point and I feel its dangerous to have on the truck. Just found your channel. Great looking truck. Not a trucker but an RV full-timer. My truck is an F450 King Ranch and the adaptive cruse control is my favorite feature.

      No need to with expedited freight we usually have 1-4 pallets sometimes we get a full box which would be 10 but the customer pays Hugh dollar to have their freight on the truck by itself we are exclusive use

    I personally despised the auto transmission and the adaptive cruise in the last Cascadia that I drove, but to reach their own.

    Interesting to see a timber floor in your reefer. Isn’t there a concern of timber rot when moisture builds on the floor?

      Our trucks have been built like this for years and no issues in the past

    Forgive my ignorance. Does the septic tank get emptied into an actual toilet somewhere- like at a truck stop?

    • @TheExpediterBoogie
      @TheExpediterBoogie  Год назад +1

      we usually emptied it at a Flyin J truck stop as they have RV dumps up in the front area. A lot of times we would find an RV dump at rest areas too and use that. You can take them into a toilet and empty them which is how they are designed but we never did. I never felt comfortable carrying it into a public place so we stuck to RV Dumps.

      @@TheExpediterBoogie - Yeah I’d feel a little weird about that too. Ok, RV dump it is! Thank you for taking the time to respond!
