As a normal & caring female, this isn't shallow at all. Its fair for us to want a little confirmation that a man is indeed interested. Not a bad thing.
We don't need much, doesn't need to be longass messages, but if guys try to hold out too long then we will think you're disinterested and move on or be confused. We simply want clarity, even if a man is very busy, no problem at all if he takes the 10 seconds to send a quick check-in text. Its a very minimal effort that goes a long way 👍🏼

I can almost guarantee If you text a girl everyday she’ll lose interest. Eventually that other guy she leaves you for who will give her that attention, will get dumped when she gets bored. Minimize texting. It kills attraction. Be setting up times to meet in person. In between do not overdo it with texting out of fear you’ll lose her. You will .
I don't have rules on how often, it really depends on the girl and the situation. Generally when I feel like it and when I feel there's something interesting to say, never just to say "Hi how are you" or stuff like that. Usually in the beginning stages not less than once a week and no more than three times a week but it's just how I am, not a rule or anything. And I generally try to keep it simple, fun and short.
On the other hand I have a rule on how many times I'm gonna text first before giving up and it's 3 times. Even if she's responding, everything's good and she seems receptive if after the third time I initiate contact she still doesn't show any effort I just let it go. If and when she contacts me, then it's all good, otherwise she's not that interested and I'm wasting time.
Ohhhh I just needed that... 2 days ago I wrote to a girl I've known for a long time, and I found a way to keep the conv going yesterday evening, but tonight I think I'll skip bc I don't want to make her feel like I'm running or I'm needy. When the Covid situation is a bit better here in Italy I'll try to hang out..
Another thing is DO NOT get sucked into the good morning/good night texts if she seems like the type to do that. One here and there is okay, but once you go down that path she's gonna start expecting it from you and it'll make you boringly predictable. Save that shit for when you're actually together.

Lloyd you have a point...I find that how often to text girl is not the right questions to be asking...I do believe that if a girl likes you she will text you and it just flows between the guy and girl...but when she has doubts that when her texting becomes sporadic leaving the guy wondering if he should keep texting to build attraction. I usually say: text when you feel like it and with this you can gauge her attraction level.
