The officers should face criminal charges for this incident.
Considering that the uniform is the only form of privilege that they seem to have in our legal system, I'll say there's a better chance of that happening than if he were also white.

Abolish qualified immunity and make cops carry individual liability insurance. So taxpayers don't have to pay out these claims. Doctors who work in hospitals as well as CPA's that work for large firms have to carry liability insurance. But we have them, don't we?
Crazy what people will do when they get to ignore shit, short of murder. Even then they can still get some kind of bullshit immunity. Funny how fast it took over the recent years that both Democrats and Republicans lost faith in the police. They've lost almost all public reputation.
People that say “I’m not going to answer any questions” need to stop answering questions.
You know what.. that is actually a good idea, or at least the beginning of one. Some form of that might work to stop this sort of behavior. But straight up making officers buy insurance policies would mean lower pay for officers and fewer joining up, and most police forces in the country tend to want more officers. I can also see a downside to this though. Which is that officers will become wary of accidentally violating someone's rights and not fully investigate cases that they could and should have. But for extreme cases like this, where its an obvious right that has been flouted, there needs to be severe punishments involved, even if its because of incompetence. your basic constitutional rights should be something even the dumbest officer is aware of and understands.

Correct. As far as I am aware the police are not allowed to solicit trespassing. If the owner themselves has not asked for someone to be removed for trespassing the police cannot do so.

Carrying a badge and gun while criminally trespassing without a law being broken should mean that the badge should be automatically arrested and their pay for that month should be given to the property owner period.

On provate property, arrest needs a warrant. Not to mention the criminal trespass of the officers.
They’ve been dealt with very violently in the past for trespassing.

@@Mississippi4Clemson the trouble you are having is that while the initial contact was on the road, the rest was on the private property. thats why the civilians kept saying get off our land, take your cruiser off our land, you are trespassing. subtle things like that are very important in criminal trespass cases. a givaway was the lack of road when arresting the owners, and the cops saying "prove you are the registered owner of this land".
Hudson here gave both gentlemen a "guilty until they prove thier innocence" situation. That is the opposite of what these real abusers and breachers of the peace are supposed to do.
Anytime you disagree with a cop, you are already losing. Their ego won’t allow them to realize they are wrong. In their head, they “are the law” so disagreeing to them means you are breaking the law. Narcissist with a badge.

I wouldn't say any time. Cops like this are shown a lot more in media, and I agree that this happens way more than it should, but don't apply interactions like this to literally every cop.

It sounds like more training or testing is needed to become a supervisor. Even the other officer knew more than him based on several of his comments.
So our tax's paid his salary,car,fuel,the court's attorney and the lawsuit. And people say we dont live in a police state.

I assume that's what they're told, because it seems only a small minority of officers actually know when they can and can't pursue certain enquiries.

I'm about to join the academy for Highway Patrol specifically but I have been watching this channel for years even before considering it. At first it was mainly to know what to do in said situations and now it's to see what to and not to do
The thing is. Any anonymous call COULD come from the OFFICER simply wanting to break into a property! This is exactly WHY these laws are in place.

I like how they said during hunting season they get a lot of calls and have to investigate… I have been in a rural area my whole life and unless someone is shooting large amounts of tannerite… no cop is investigating every gunshot 🤦🏻♀️

I looked up Sussex County, Virginia. It's even more rural than the area I live. Those cops would have a hard time here. As long as the sun is out, there are never more than a few minutes between gun shots somewhere in hearing distance. I can't believe they even thought this was worth investigating.

As a 30 year police retiree, I never once needed to ID anyone to determine if they committed a crime.
You expect us to believe you were a good piggy? BS. How many times did you stand by and watch your fellow filth abuse people?
That is because the ID will not tell you what law that person has broken. The only reason to ID someone is to check for warrants, which absent a crime, is illegal.

I can think of a couple of other instances that it might be useful.
For example, if someone is breaking the window of a car to gain access, and they claim that it's their car and the keys are locked in the trunk, checking ID to confirm it matches vehicle registry would confirm no crime was committed.
But that ID would not need to be run to do that. Just compare it to the paperwork that should be in the car anyway.

This is an AWESOME channel... So important right now! There's corruption everywhere in the US - in the police department, Hollywood, elected officials, big corporations and healthcare... I am so grateful that police are required to wear body cams - I wish we could require them for EVERYONE in positions of power. What I especially admire is the balance here - if the pd actions were LEGAL (which is most of the cases) the law backing up the action is given. If not, the opposite. This is how we actually learn what the rules are and quit just screaming police violence. I also watch RUclips videos of body cams and rarely do you see an officer not be polite and considerate - even when dealing with horrible people!

Imagine getting arrested under false pretenses for trespassing on your own property by a trespassing cop on a power trip who had no right to arrest your father, also under false pretenses, only to get screamed at by the officer to stay calm when he carelessly points a loaded weapon at you.
This guy doesn't just deserve to get relieved off his duties, he deserves to be charged for reckless endangerment.

...and the courts are more than happy to clean up the cops messes. Give them qualified immunity, decide they didn't have probable cause to arrest for this offense but they did for another offense, decide a beatdown from the cops involved de minimis violence instead of excessive force, etc. Courts are supposed to be a shield to protect the citizenry from the government. How great a job are they doing? Cops are supposed to enforce the law professionally without fear or favor. How well are they living up to that standard?
The neighbor is a cop, other videos on this mention this right off the bat because it's a REALLY important factor.! The cop knew there were no laws being broken and called it in with a specific way to get a response
not to mention that we taxpayers end up paying for those lawsuits either directly or through increasing insurance rates...end qualified immunity...make cops personally responsible for their bad actions...
@@steve_beatty start local, revoke QI at the village/town/city level by requiring personal insurance of $1M which pays first for all claims and its paid for by the officers. They get an insurance stipend which is the lowest cost insurance premiums for cops that haven't had lawsuits, if they can't afford insurance because they're bad cops that's on them

More example of why criminal charges need to accompany illegal arrests. Police would be substantially more careful with how they handle public interactions if they faced jail time instead of paid leave.
Those two not only need to be fired, they need to stand in front of a judge. Things like these cannot stand, no matter what country.
Unfortunately a lot of judges are former prosecutors who are often friends or closely tied with the police. It's just not gonna happen.
Sadly it is much more likely that those officers will receive a slap on the wrist and be out continuing to abuse other members of the public for years and years to follow

So yes, they could have shot and killed someone and just stated”we owned the property” and not showed proof. It’s a very valid point. Cops both have so much and so little power. The biggest problem i have with the knock and talk rules is that they were told to leave. The officers were told they were trespassing and refused. Normal citizens would be arrested at that point, but these officers feel they're above the law and that's an issue.
They also went past a closed gate where there wasn't a door immediately near or behind it
Exactly. Even if they can skirt around the issue initially claiming the knock and talk law allows them access, at the point they are verbally told 'i'm trespassing you off my property, leave' 3+ times, they are violating the law by staying.
No one else is given the privelege of verifying with the person trespassing them that they own the property to ensure the trespass is legitimate... so why should these police have the exception when they are there with no reasonable articulable suspicion.
As someone who has shot firearms for practice, trap/skeet, and hunting for over three decades, never having had police stop us (especially on our own land) this makes me sick

The idea of police following up on "shots fired" in rural Virginia is insane -- there would be police cars flying up and down the rural byways of Culpeper County every single day.

I noticed a guy hiding in some bushes one night, while going for a walk for a coffee cause I could not sleep...I approached a couple of the like 20 officers wandering about the area looking for him and was about to give them his location but every cop I approached was openly belligerent and ill mannered...so I kept going without saying a word ad they got to keep looking and never did find him...
I also inform all cops that I consider my time valuable and every interaction will begin with a bill for 5 grand and go up by that much every min they detain me without a real cause...asset forfeiture is a great way to recover owed moneys...only way they will pay...

It is alarming how many cops do not understand basic laws. And there are almost no repercussions unless you are willing to spend a bunch of money.
Even when one DOES hemorrhage a ton of money to take the case to court, and even IF they win and are awarded a favorable judgement these tyrants STILL find no repercussions funneled down to them, as its ultimately the regional, and state, taxpayers who will be the ones on the hook for, and eventually satisfying, the monetary debt that is incurred because of these morons illegal and immoral actions. This is the march into the Oblivion of Totalitarianism that We the Peoples complacency, distraction, ignorance and disregard has found us sat squarely in the center of. Our first mistake was having EVER outsourced our OWN safety, security and well being to ANY other entity. And the second mistake being (after already foolishly committing the first) to then fail to pay attention to the actions and undertakings taking place thereafter. There was a reason the Romans employed "Bread and Circuses" as a means of sedating the populace through distraction and appeasment. Propert owners don’t usually walk around with deeds on their person. The law needs to be taught in depth to police.
Most of them can barely pass the academy, let alone any sort of law exam. Police forces are getting worse and worse, I mean who would want to be a police officer these days. On top of that, many departments are now hiring on diversity rather than qualifications. Outrageous police encounters will be the norm in the coming years.

My grandparents got T-boned by an F150 going 90 MPH. My grandparents were lucky to be alive. The F150 driver was a cop. The responding officers dragged my grandparents out of the car and separated them. The officers tried to make them give conflicting storys or admit to being at fault. During this time my grandparents dash cam went missing. Both cars got towed away. My grandparents did not get a ride home from the cops but instead got left in the rain. They got a ride from a bystander home. My grandparents got a ticket in the mail for miss-use of emergency services.
I would have asked the police did any person owner of said property call them claiming that these men were on their property trespassing? Why would he have to prove this was his property if no such accusation was made or found?

I gave this kid an ASVAB in 2011 and he was not even close to being qualified to be in the military. He has a 3.0+ GPA from taking easy classes. He scored a 5 on the ASVAB and is currently a police officer in Lynchburg, Virginia.

4:05... Yes if an officer stops you while in control of a motor vehicle he can ask for your driver's license. But the man was not stopped for a traffic infraction or because they wanted to check his drivers license. He was stopped for a completely different reason, unrelated to the initial stop.
The fact that these charges were not immediately dropped says a lot about that county. This is outrageous. LEOs' behavior is unacceptable. He should not be in a position of authority nor dealing with the public due to his ego.
