on this album they have already grown up, musically speaking, you don't need a band to play the same for 30 years to be liked by everyone

The Load and Re-Load albums both have some real gems and some of Metallica's best songs that show their growth, experimentation and maturity on them. Both albums were recorded during the same sessions, know as the Presidio Sessions, and was supposed to be a double album. Due to time crunch and pressure from the record label they took half of thew songs and put them on Load and the other half that needed more polishing on Re-Load. So hopefully you do both albums back to back because they were only released a year apart but were recorded at the same time. Some of my favorite Metallica songs (Bleeding Me, The Outlaw Torn, Memory Remains, Fixxxer) are on these albums and I've been a fan since Kill 'Em All.

The Presidio sessions were during the recordings of St. Anger, songs which still have not seen the light of day. Load and Reload were recorded at The Record Plant.

I love all Metallica. They have always been ahead of the game and made music for themselves. James has said that he makes music for himself calling himself selfish. He said if you like it great and if you don't then that's fine too. A super underrated song from Re Load is Fixxxer one of my favorite songs that they have made.

She will be reacting to the "Re-Load" album just as soon as she's finished with all of the songs on the "Load" album. You are also getting "St. Anger" confused with "Load" and "Reload" because those albums were recorded at The Plant Studios while the Presidio Sessions were early material for what would become "St. Anger".

I discovered Metallica in about 1992 at 14 years old. So Load was my first new Metallica music and I loved it. If you take Load for what it is, without the Metallica (Ride and Master) label attached, it’s a really great record. One of my favourites in fact.

I recommend checking out a 3 sister rock band from Mexico, they love Metallica & have an incredibly infectious energy.
The Warning⚡ is made up of Daniela (Guitar, Lead Vocals), Paulina (Drums, Vocals) & Alejandra (Bass, Backing Vocals)
2014 their cover of Enter Sandman by Metallica went viral (14, 12, 9 yrs old respectively).
2019 they did a live cover of Atlas, Rise! by Metallica at the Whisky A GoGo
2021 at the invitation of Metallica they did a re-imagining of Enter Sandman for the Blacklist album celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Black album
Since then they’ve gone from strength to strength, opening for Foo Fighters, Guns ‘n’ Roses, Muse along with their own headline tours.
Their original music is also fantastic, anything from “Live at Teatro Metropólitan (CDMX)” will showcase their current live wall of sound.

Haters of Load and Re-Load couldn't adapt to the new sounds of Metallica. On the other hand though, if Metallica would have done another Ride/Master/Justice album, they would have hated that because they sound the same, lol.
These two albums have just as many bangers on them as the other great albums - and the rest of them are mostly just as solid as you can expect. They can't all be perfect, usually.
There's definitely some surprises on these albums when it comes to their standard, and what they experiment with. I think you'll really like the next 4 out of 5 songs!
***Edit: I will add, that it's been a minute since I've heard this album in it's entirety. So, I'm kind of going on the journey with you since it will be my first time hearing a lot of the songs in a very long time.
Songs they still play live are the ones I still listen to: Bleeding Me, The Outlaw Torn, King Nothing, Memory Remains, Fixxxer, Fuel, and Until it Sleeps. I also really like Low Mans Lyric, but I've never heard them play it live.

  • @TokusatsuGamingfan
    @TokusatsuGamingfan 7 месяцев назад +4

Metallica got a lot of unwarranted shit on the "Load" and "Reload" albums because they went in an entirely different direction musically, which was definitely not what a lot of their fans wanted. A good majority of Metallica's fans shit on this era of Metallica because they absolutely didn't want Metallica to change, or do anything different, or take chances or risks, and just wanted them to make a "part 2" of what they had already done before.
What these people absolutely fail to realize is that Metallica saw what was happening with the musical landscape changing when they were touring for The Black Album, just a month after the album was released. Grunge had become popular thanks to the success of Nirvana's "Nevermind" album. So of course, Metallica had to go in a different direction musically.

So listening to Metallica is like going on a roller coaster... You're going to get twists and turns and you're never know what's going to come next, but you do know it's going to be heavy and kick ass and still sounds like Metallica!... So just enjoy the ride and try not to compare each album from another and enjoy them for what they are... Rock on!! 🤘🏻

I was 12 back in '96 & my buddy brought this CD over and the first song I heard was King Nothing. I have been, some would say, obsessed ever since. Lol. After that, I went to their older stuff and even fell more in love. I love every era, phase, whatever you want to call it, of Metallica. Some people can't grasp the fact that you get older and maybe want to try new things, evolve, idk. To each their own, though!

    • @TokusatsuGamingfan
      @TokusatsuGamingfan 7 месяцев назад +1

Also, a good majority of people who have commented on this reaction unfortunately can't seem to comprehend or realize is that Metallica absolutely had to change, as well as evolve, try new things, take chances, and take risks. Especially in this instance because of how quickly grunge had taken over and changed the musical landscape when Metallica was on tour for two and a half years supporting The Black Album.

This was their biggest musical departure from their classic style. I lived through the divisive reactions, but I became a fan from the Black Album which wasn’t thrash metal. And being a classic rock fan I received this one with open arms. In my opinion it’s one of their classics. They’re a great all time band because they can step outside the box. '96 and '97! I was 21 and 22 respectively. Just had my first daughter. The 2nd was on the way in '97. These albums were the soundtracks of my early 20s! Trying to go somewhere with my band in Norcal! Trying to balance life with children and a brand new marriage! So many memories! Used to sit down with a guitar and a songbook try to hash out playing through these albums! 2X4 was more laid back but there was a slow, sinewy aggression that was palpable from the first drum fill! Listening to the songs from both albums is a Listening experience. However playing through them is a whole other way of understanding how metallica was changing through this period. Its still them! You can feel it! Its something different though! Been listening since '88! Been playing since '89! I will always be a fan! Least favorite song off of this album? Ronnie. Otherwise everyone of then is a classic to me.

Without listening to other songs or spoiling songs off the load and reload albums you should take a look at some old articles and things from when the albums came out to understand a little bit about what was happening at the time with Metallica. It's an interesting bit of history because they rocketed even further into commercial success with these 2 albums but some fans felt betrayed. But for Metallica they felt like they had done everything there was to do with there old sound.

    • @TokusatsuGamingfan
      @TokusatsuGamingfan 7 месяцев назад +2

"But some fans felt betrayed." A lot more like a good majority of fans felt betrayed. And they are still so closed-minded as well as butthurt that Metallica dared to be different as well as go in a different direction because of the fact that the musical landscape had changed so much while they were on tour for The Black Album. Metallica daring to not sound the same or write the same thing that they have done before and go in an entirely different direction, as well as have faith in themselves and do what they want to and feel like doing is somehow sacrilege to that majority of the Metallica fandom.

You’re not wrong when you say it doesn’t sound like Metallica, but the way I look at it is, the Load albums has the sound of a lot of their influences infused with their own style. So there is no sounding like Metallica, they are the sound. For this reason I love every album, even St. Anger. Lyrically the Load albums have some great stuff from James. A lot of good stuff to be found but not every song will sit the same as others

I remember one "reporter" in my country scoffed at this album and ridiculed James for "trying to be a country singer". So what is wrong with that? James made a great cowboy with his handsome moustache. The only album I never got into was St. Anger, but Load and even Re-load, were really solid.

Load definitely took some adjustment but was a real grower over time. I’d say some people gave up too quickly on it and I was nearly one of them. Metallica have almost always been different from album to album - if they hadn’t moved on from Kill ‘em All as some would like then they’d be long gone by now. I will say that I much prefer Load to Reload. Reload has a few good tracks but mostly feels like B-sides and songs that weren’t fully baked in my opinion.

This point in Metallica's career kind of reminds me of WWE's The Undertaker.
He spent years as The Dead Man then re-branded himself into The American Bad Ass.
Basically what Metallica did with these albums. Their career was running dry. They had huge hits on the black album. But wasn't selling out concerts anymore. So they re-invented themselves to become what they are now.

As others have said, Load and Reload are some of their best stuff. Some of their HEAVIEST stuff. Lyrically and musically. It's also very personal for a lot of it. James was dealing with a lot when they were doing these albums. You should check out "Bleeding Me," "Outlaw Torn," "Fixxxer," "Mama Said," "King Nothing," "Hero of the Day," and "The House That Jack Built." Some of the best of the best songs there. You also see some of their nonmetal influences coming out.

I really enjoy this album. But to enjoy you it, its best going in to the rest of the album its not really thrash and more them trying a new sound out which i respect. Their are some great songs on this album tho bleeding me and outlaw torn specifically

Many so-called Metallica fans don't realize Hetfield damaged his vocal cords in 1994 while performing So What in a live show causing him to learn how to have to recondition his voice, losing the screaming. They also wanted to define themselves as musicians rather than just thrash. Megadeth did the same on their Risk album.

I'm a big fan of what Metallica had balls enough to do while writing and recording the Load & Re Load albums, this is one of my favorites from the sessions. there is so much sonic experimentation, loose & greasy sometimes blusey " even a hint of Country" , but still heavy, and you also get Hammett rhyryms and Hetfield Leads, " yes I said that right" they switch up so much on this album . most people's complaint is " it doesn't sound like the Black album". James himself barked back at this point the Black album was nearly 6 years old, and everyone brought different ideas, wait till you hear Kirk play slide guitar on King Nothing. " also one of my favorites."

This song is a double entendre - violence and sex.

It was at this moment in time that Metallica completely transitioned from a thrash band to a hard rock band. Load and Reload both have bluesy songs that are excellent. These two albums gained many new fans but also lost a lot of old school thrash fans.

Personally my least favourite of the album is either "Cure" or "Ronnie", but I really dig the rest of it and it's grown over time for me. I think you'll enjoy quite a lot of it, there's some real standout tracks coming 😊

I always thought if LOAD & RELOAD were written by any other band people would think they were great albums, but since they were written by METALLICA people were so set in what they expected that they ended up being disappointed.
Not my favorite albums, but I do like:
    KING NOTHING
    HERO OF THE DAY
    BLEEDING ME
    MAMA SAID
    OUTLAW TORN
    FUEL
    DEVIL'S DANCE
    WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE
    LOW MAN'S LYRIC
    FIXXER

My least favorite song on the Load album by Metallica is "Hero Of The Day". I like most of the other songs on this album. My favorite song on this album is "King Nothing". And "Bleeding Me" is another favorite. I certainly like "2x4", which sounds almost like a 1940s blues/swing/big band song, but take out the horns and substitute distorted metal guitars while making the drums more rowdy.

Die hards love this album. Spoiler alert! There are 2 songs that are fan favorites and those are......😊 BTW the reaction you had where you said this don't feel like MetallicA. That's what alot of alienated fans said in 1996

Imo Load and Reload are the most jamming albums of the Metallica era. They are so progressive. Lars on the drums, jason on the hearing bass, james left, kirk right and james perfect vocal lines. I hope you continue these two albums. There have highs and lows. \m/

I'm extremely worried about how you'll feel about track 3. Personally, I like it. But I've had 20 years to get used to it. The chorus makes it hit for me.
