    Song 1) Battery -- about being controlled by anger | Song 2) Master of Puppets -- controlled by drugs | Song 3) The Thing That Should Not be -- controlled by insanity | Song 4) Sanitarium -- controlled by people who think you're insane but maybe you aren't | Song 5) Disposable Heroes -- controlled by patriotism or the draft or whatever sends you to war | Song 6) Leper Messiah -- controlled by religion | Song 7) Orion -- just a cool instrumental but I consider this the moment of bliss when the listener realizes their own master... Song 8) Damage Inc... what the listener does to the master that is now exposed... just my take, but there does seem to a consistent theme with calling out our masters.

    I love these Metallica reactions. Not even a complete Metallica fan either. Metal has a stereotype that it's all hate, anger, devil worship and other nonsense. You guys are seeing, and reading first hand there is a lot of intellectualism and provoking thoughts behind the songs. Just like lyrical hip hop. The instruments to produce the music may be completely different but there is a meaningful message. Good on this channel for their thoroughness. Not just for metal, but for all genres of music

    • @Frostrazor
      @Frostrazor Год назад +6

      yup,. the instruments accentuate the meaning like a good musical score does for a movie.
      it's not accident that the sound and pace of the instruments fluctuate between sounding like a cavalry charge into battle (a galloping bass), and then the thrash playing of guitars and drums sounds like the guns themselves.

First 10 years was just exercising and learning how to operate during a war time situation... train, train train. It was us against the Russians and it was at the height of the Cold War. Then we had Desert Storm and I deployed and fought for our country. Got the shit scared out of me a few times and it did not really matter. We did what we did and dying was a consequence for keeping America free. Then from 94 until I retied in 07 I was involved in constant conflict. It did not matter who we were fighting against, orders were orders and you follow them, no questions asked. War was just what we signed up for. I put myself in harms way more than once and at the end of the day, I made it. It did not matter. I could have hid behind a desk but I volunteered for anything and anything. That is what we do. If I was to have died, I know it would have not been for nothing and my wife would have understood... in her eyes I would have been a hero. But I lived and my wife still looks at me as a hero. I did not do this for myself but for you. Rudy, MSgt USAF, Retired 1981-2007 AMMO! Keep on keeping it real my brothers!

    My favorite Metallica song ever, and I’ve been a die-hard fan since 1991 as a dorky 13 year old. They’ve honestly helped me overcome some heavy sh*t and I love to watch the younger generation discover these songs and lyrics. I’ve been binge-watching your Metallica reactions because they’re so pure and honest and I love it.

    I have always loved Metallica, grew up on them with cousins that were 10 years older than me introducing me as a kid. Seeing your reactions has brought a lot of happiness to me as it reminds of what it was like for me when I first listened to them. I love seeing people who were not previously in the metal scene listen and really enjoy something that I enjoy so much. You have also got me relistening to all their albums in order again, just to relive some old memories.

    Sooner or later you guys will react to the band called "Slayer". It's and old school thrash metal band just like Metallica but Slayer is a lot darker. A lot. That's where you will witness that some metal bands, especially veterans of the genre, can dive veeery deep and and in a veeery dark places. You might not like what Slayer is singing about but you will definately appreciate it's intricacy. On top of that, the way they play their metal is... well let's say the music itself creates a hellish vibe. Love your reactions. Greetings from Russia, Moscow.

    *** a couple of intense songs in regards to the effects war had on soldiers would be Alice and Chains "Rooster", and Tom Waits "Hell Broke Luce". These songs and the videos to them are incredible. They speak an incredible story for the soldier, what they deal with, experience, and the after effects.

    This is one of the Metallica songs that the lyrics really hit me. Both my grandfather's drafted at rhe end of ww2 and into the Korean War. Both survived with bad PTSD, my one grandfather just passes away last July at 94 years old and the 21 gun salute at his funeral was beautiful. The way metallica can create a battlefield in your eyes through music is amazing. The drums sound like guns and I csnt explain how amazing this song is.
