Watch the documentary Some Kind of Monster if you haven't. Sheds light on what they were dealing with during the making of this album. While not their best, it's definitely one of their most important albums. And say what you will about the drum sound, this is actually some really good playing from Lars.
Yeah if you could tell James hetfield went all out on his vocals on this album by all within my hands you can really hear how tired and beat up his vocal chords are
Good honest review, brother. I agree with the 6/10 and I’m a die hard Metallica guy since 1986. James Lee Taylor is right, you need to watch the documentary - Some Kind of Monster - to understand the background for this album. Ultimately, this album kept MetallicA together, so for that alone, I elevate it to a 10/10!! 😂
Great reaction, pretty pleasing to hear someone not spewing out hate toward St. anger for once. I think it’s a fun ride with some great and underrated tunes.
Gotta watch the documentary to understand this album. This album was also released one year to early by the label since they were behind an entire year from James being in rehab. The album is not great but it had potential and all the "what if's: are there. This album saved Metallica that's why it important even though it is their worst album. Don't wanna hear anything about "Lulu" being the worst that is NOT a Metallica album even stated by Hetfield himself that is a Lou Reed album and probably will be hated by fans but they were open to do that project with Reed..
You should check out their performance of All Within My Hands with the San Francisco Symphony from the S&M2 album. Not at all what you'd expect after hearing the studio version. Glad you enjoyed St. Anger more than most people, it's a great therapeutic album which saved Metallica. Altho not the biggest fan of the sound i absolutely love this album. Specially with the context to the movie / doc they made while recording it.
St. Anger is a therapeutic album. It was created as a result of therapy and other problems that the band had and as such should be understood. If you feel anger, discontent, agony, anxiety... this album is better than any medicine!
On another important note, when you do any reactions to Death Magnetic, remember to use the iTunes rerelease otherwise your ear drum will bleed out after the 1st song..
Please react to Yoyoka Soma playing Sparkling, her first solo project she wrote and played drums/xylophone on, at the age of 12. Despite being only 12, she is an accomplished musician, playing live since age 4, and being the youngest (age 11) top 500 drummer to appear on Drummer Worlds all time list. Sparkling: ruclips.net/video/llB8VzCdGyY/видео.html
The title track and Purify are the worst songs Metallica ever did for me (not counting songs from Lulu). I like Frantic, Sweet Amber and Unamed Feeling though.
Sorry I really wanted to watch your reaction to this album, but the album it’s giving me a headache and have to give up. I can unfortunately never get though the whole album.
Nice reaction as always. St. Anger certainly has its highlights, especially The Unnamed Feeling, but overall it's still Metallica's weakest album. Now that you are moving onto Death Magnetic, my personal recomendations to get you started are All Nightmare Long and The Day That Never Comes.
Some good songs. Terrible production lol as I said before the one song I enjoy is frantic. Now...... I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR REACTION TO DEATH MAGNETIC. Wait till you see the absolute complete contrast from this pile of crap🤣🤣🤣🤣🤘🤘🤘🤘
The album sucks overall. Its funny because this is the album that got me into Metallica. I was 14 when St. Anger was released. And I absolutely loved the title track. The music video was on rotation and I became a massive fan. Today I DONT like that album. Its exhausting and boring. And there is some really stupid shit in there. But I still like St. Anger and Shoot Me Again. Purify is horrendous, so is All Within My Hands. And I dont like Unnamed Feeling because of the "screaming" of "been here before". Just take that out and I would have liked it. Instead they try to be Korn, Limp Bizkit or some shit. My fav albums is Load, Reload and Master of Puppets. And I really like Death Magnetic. The new album 72 Seasons is solid. The 4 last tracks on the album is the best in my opinion. So it gets better and better towards the end. The opposite of St. Anger. But as you say, every band that last long needs to have one "shitty" album to get through something. And without St. Anger I would probably never have become a fan. So its weird its the album I dont like anymore.
People really try to find some deep meaning to this album but the truth is it's not good and the direction they took was terrible. You don't have to watch some documentary to see and hear it's a bad album.
Sweet amber 🔥
I actually like dirty window. The joker laugh is insane
This is actually not a bad album. The aggression is top notch and the riffs are great
"Metallica sometimes have this problem where they repeat parts over and over again" after Frantic.
If you only knew…

It's not one of the most important albums, SKOM is irrelevant to that.
@@DM-rc4yu It's the album that kept them together

The Unnamed Feeling, Frantic, Dirty Window, All Within My Hands = my favorite songs

Do All within my hands from the S&M 2 live performance. They took that sh!t and made pure art with it!

This album sounds like system of a down with Hatfield on.vocals
I listened to the entire reaction and loved it. Please to the next album they made, Death Magnetic. Sooo much better!
Thank you!!!!
Nice Job. I've never listened to this one. Love hearing new yet old. Great Reaction
Nice reaction. Love the album, it sounds better the louder you crank it! I agree though, it could have been edited down to make it even better.

Brooo do Death Magnetic next!!
you summed the album pretty well thx for the reaction.
Most of Dirty Window is that one “funny” riff. Sometimes they change the key to E, chug it, or just slow it down.
You should react to the single version of some kind of monster. It’s a lot shorter and the mix is wayyy better
DEATH MAGNETIC next...!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Alot of songs just grow on you after time
I love this album, man, it has several bad things but I don't understand so much hate. it's repetitive but fun to listen to
yeah with st anger its so good but also sucks cause the lengthy repetitiveness (on some of the tracks not all of em)
I hope you do the next album Death magnetic would love to hear your thoughts on that one forsure!
The rifts and lyrics were very good. It’s just that the song all sounded like they were each 3 minutes too long.

You should react to dirty window live 2022 it’s so dope
Remastered (on youtube) and live versions of this album are so much better than the original
This album is a 9/10 for me
I'm not a twich guy or live stream guy.
Bro please react to the last metallica albums its been a year
Invisible Kid - the lowest tuning 'Tallica ever used
A song about Jason
Jason? Newsted?
Don't you want to react to movie Some Kind Of Monster and cut your version on youtube?
Yes. I don't use twitch.
I would upload the reaction on RUclips yes
@@JourneyTheBadDrummerbe careful with the some kind of monster documentary because youtube will 100% put you an strike

it's just tooo much man, SKOM is such a good song, but fuck me 8:25 minutes??? are they insane?
@@bakerhalt oh I have no problem with lengthy songs, when I enjoy them.
Hate that snare so I can’t enjoy this album.

Lulu ?
Lulu is Lou Reed's, so it's not a Metallica album (Though I do think it's worse than St. Anger).
