I wouldn't change anything about it. The pure instrumental is the perfect backdrop for Cliff Burton's silent voice as his soul was in every part of this masterpiece.
Orion is one of my favoritest songs ever. Songs that transcend even all my favorite songs transcending rhyme or reason. That they played this at the first of their Arlington, Texas shows (August 18, 2023) and had me nearly crying with joy because I never thought I'd get to hear it live. But I did... Kirk played Greeny that night for several songs, including this one.
While it is fun to watch (and hear the crowd live) the studio will allow you to hear all the awesome nuances that can be lost in a live performance. Great reaction Bisscute! I love the spotlight on the bass as well. ;) R.I.P. Cliff Burton!
After the "bass solo" track, Anesthesia, on the debut album, this song, and the intro to Dmaage Incorporated (both from Master Of Puppets) were "Cliff Burton" showcases. It's that "chonky bass", as Bisscute calls it, lol. 🖤
Orion is a star constellation..."The Hunter" I think it is. This was Cliff Burton's favorite piece that he wrote. The tape on Kirk's hand (I think thats what you were asking about) is keep his hand from bleeding due to heavy palm-muting
During the Cliff Burton days of Metallica, bass was a lot more prominent. Orion, Call of Ktulu, Four Horsemen, Master of Puppets, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and the giant bass and drum only instrumental of Anesthesia. Cliff was the initial push that made me transition from guitar to bass.
I used to play this with my friends when I was kid. I even wrote lyrics to it and sang them, terribly. 😁Recording wasn't as easily available back then so all I have is the memories. 🤘
I love all your reaction videos but your Metallica reactions are my favourite, that's what led me to your channel! Metallica is amazing live I see them everytime they play Toronto, Canada. If your looking for more live Metallica clips anything from the Seattle '89 concert is great!
I wasn't around for that show (I was only one year old at the time xD) but years later when Metallica toured in Seattle I really enjoyed their show! The one that I went to was in 2003 at the Seahawks Stadium that's now called Lumen Field. :)
I got to see the in Arlington, Texas August 18th and 20th. My 15th and 16th live Metallica shows. They played this and I lost it. They also played “Whiskey in The Jar”. We miss you Cliff 🤘
I remember listening to this in my bedroom, turned up to MAX, in high school/ 80's, blowed out of my mind playing my "air guitar 🎸 " and head banging!!! Great memories, GOOD TIMES
In that tour they always played spit out the bone in that song slot which was late concert. I remember in the arena when i heard the intro tape for spit out the bone at almost mid of the show i just freaked out cause i knew that later they would have played orion🥲🥲🥲🥲
Love to see young people appreciate a band that formed in 1981, I remember when they started, and bands like Ratt, Doken, Motley Crue, Winger was a good time to grow up in Los Angeles
I used to listen to this instrumental in the locker room before getting on the ice before playing in ice hockey games. Then we'd skate in warmups to songs like Battery and Disposable Heroes. ALL on the Master of Puppets CD. Thanks for sharing your reaction.
Someone I've suggested before does an amazing cover of this song is Rodrigo y Gabriella. Two Mexican guitarists. You need to check them out in live performances.🙏🙏🙏🙏🎈
Great reaction as usual Miss Bisscute, this instrumental song it's a masterpiece from Metallica.👍🤟🤟 Please do more live concerts reactions are the best.
This shows how great a bassist Cliff Burton was, that sound, still gives me the chills. And off course one of the best instrumentals ever on one of the best albums of all time. Still hoping you'll do a reaction to Channel zero with "Help" or "Black Fuel", it's a Belgian metal band, you'll love it.
Watching this one again, makes me realize how tight they are sounding now (for example Orion in Gothenburg, Sweden, June 16 of this year...), more in sync and accurate. Orion is such a banger!
this is an instrumental track from their 3rd album from 1986, in my honest opinion this song was made to say something like: "_yes, we have a bass player and he makes sounds like this"
Yhe original Bass player, Ciff Burton showcased his skills on the Studio 🎙 recording, and Rob is great bassist too, played for SUICIDAL TENDENCIES before he joined METALLICA
I don't do drugs and never have, but if I did, this is one of the songs I'd sit back and chill to. I love Metallica's instrumental songs. Orion, Call of Ktulu and To Live is to Die. TLITD does have James saying a few lines that Cliff Burton wrote.. The song is a tribute to Cliff.
Kirk, James, and Lars were feeling this. It was their brother's opus. Cliff wrote this entire song. I have to wonder how hard it is for them to play it without him on the bass.
Great reaction, the other instrumental Metallica's masterpiece is named The Call of Ktulu, check the live performance with San Francisco Symphony Orchestra
Reaction to (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth on Kill Em All. Funny I always remembered this songs name as "Bass Solo Take One." But that was what the sound engineer says at the intro. One of my all time favorite songs!!!
Kirk uses tape on his right hand to keep a cut from opening up while playing and bleeding all over his guitar/getting into the electronics. It’s like he had a blister and playing every night, it’d keep ripping open and bleeding, then scab up and then get ripped open again and again, etc so a while back he started putting tape over that spot on his picking hand where he’d rub & rip up the skin to prevent that and to prevent the bleeding
Props to Robert Trujillo their new bassist for effortlessly evoking Cliff Burton you can tell he is a fan setting his ego aside to pay tribute to the legend
3:07 The _big spotlight to the bass_ from Metallica would be *Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth) ... i.e. Bass Solo, Take 1* from their first album (Kill 'Em All). Although, you have to listen to _Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)/Whiplash_ at the same time/reaction. You can't listen to one without the other. It's just the Law of Metal! Edit: *Whiplash* has their most *Kickass* vocals of any Metallica song ever!!! Whiplash Lyrics: Late at night, all systems go. You've come to see the show. We do our best. You're the rest. Classic beloved song , never preformed by Cliff, the studio version , is epic , if ya want to give that a listen👌👂💫🌟🎶🎵🎼🎧🎸. R.I.P. C.B. gone nevet forgotten ... 🖤❇🖤
Since Bisscute reacted to Orion I don't see it impossible for him to also react to (The Call Of Ktulu in Copenhagen 2017) Also from Metallica, I think most of us would have liked to see a concert where they play Orion with Cliff but unfortunately fate did not want it that way, hopefully and if he reacts to Ktulu since the bass is more evil there
You said the title perfectly, dear, haha. 😎👍🖤🖤 Orion is the name of a constellation, named after a warrior from, I wanna say Greek mythology but I probably have that wrong. The constellation is supposed to be of Orion, featuring three stars that make up his belt (you may have heard of "Orion's belt"), and the shield and club he wields... I may have that wrong too cos it's been ages since I even gave it a thought.
I actually thought after Cliff burton died it was the end of metallica. He was such a key part of their sound. The band was never the same after. Yes they put out some great albums over the years but the 1st 3 were some of the best music ever put out for thrash metal.
Thank you for the cash for Metallica. Yes, it was one of the five instruments they released. Please react to "My Friend Of Misery - Best Live Performance!! 2012.05.25 Rock in Rio Lisbon". You'll see a lot of good vocals and the biggest chorus you've ever heard in the middle of a song by fans doing harmony under James Hetfield's dictation
Cliff Burton was a genius When he was alive they do instrumentals (Anesthesia) Pulling Teeth; more like a bass solo and The Call Of Ktulu You should check those two And another band that you should check is Judas Priest !!! 🙏
Cliff Burton was classically trained and a Bass playing genius. Metallica have never been the same since he passed. Look for the live version of Ride the Lightning featuring Cliff.

That is so great to hear from you
Thank you Miss Biss. I actually almost fell for this.
...Magdala I am on Facebook...ciao...
This was their former bass player, Cliff Burton's, Swan song. He wrote this. I'm happy you noticed the bass, first off.
RIP Cliff
He was the best that Metallica had by far🤘🤘
@@tonykubilius9971 To live is to die..rest in peace Cliff, and thank you. RIP
The chonky bass😊

Robert does a very very good job here
One of the best instrumentals of all time.
Yup, this one, Ktulu and To Live Is To Die
I wouldn't change anything about it.
The pure instrumental is the perfect backdrop for Cliff Burton's silent voice as his soul was in every part of this masterpiece.
The studio version is a gorgeous experience and a deep dive in the geniality of Cliff Burton. I suggest you a listening to it. Cheers from Puglia! 🇮🇹😘
ORION is a northen constellation...and I'm actually looking at it right now as I'm writing this to you... it's now 11:31pm here in Canada 🇨🇦 ❤❤❤

To be fair Robert does a great job here, though.
One of my all time favorites from them. Don't tread on me is another!
This is my absolute favourite Metallic a song! Thank you for doing it!
Its a painfull fact that Cliff Burton don't live enough to play this in live, he wrote this marterpiece and the call of ktulu too
He co-wrote both songs with James and Lars, and additionally with Mustaine for Ktulu.
Cliff Burton was just a bass playing god!!
What kills me, is he didn't die of suicide or an overdose...he was doing what he loved, being alive.
I was present at this concert, this song was a unique emotion
My favourite song from Master Of Puppets. I always get chills when the harmony comes (and then, bass solo)
This entire album- Master of Puppets- is a masterpiece. Definitely worth a listen!
After the "bass solo" track, Anesthesia, on the debut album, this song, and the intro to Dmaage Incorporated (both from Master Of Puppets) were "Cliff Burton" showcases. It's that "chonky bass", as Bisscute calls it, lol. 🖤
pulling teeth!!!!
James has the bridge of this instrumental tattooed on his arm in tribute to Cliff Burton. May he forever RIP. The Major rager on the four string MFer!
