Fun review! FWIW, Titus has a chute for when one wants to use a Nautilus that way. The chute looks/attaches like the catch cup, but with the cup's bottom removed. (There is also a portafilter holder available for direct dosing.)

I don't know what compelled you to do this to yourself, but thanks, I appreciate seeing the results. You have a lot of big flats, but I think you could use a big 83mm conical for comparison.

I'm at the point that I can't not stir my espresso, it makes such a drastic difference for me in overall flavor, and does help to cut down on bitter/acidity compared with not stirring

What would you say is best between lagom p64 vs df83 vs weber eg?

I don't use RDT, or really dark roasts though.
Same here I learned coffee experience with Major D! Insane and now I don't use them at all ...
You think that's bad I bought one from black rifle coffee company call black beard delight and I would weigh out the dose and it would overflow the basket... it was so oily I just finally threw it out .. buy that coffee next. I would love to see that one

I think the problem may be that those of us who are older esspresso aficionados have not stayed current with all of the other wonderful new roasters that are currently available. I would love to hear what you all would recommend trying for espresso! I’ve enjoyed Intelligentsia and Counterculture and very much enjoyed! Thanks for your informative videos!

Yes! I'll do a more serious video hahaha and it will 100% have Sey. I actually also recorded a video at Sey in NY that I'll be putting up. Such a huge fan of them.
I could have any grinder I want. The Niche is the grinder I use. Except for things I don’t use it for.
But an EG-1 ain’t gonna fix that.
I can't help but feel this needs a Mazzer SJ or like a Eureka XL or something. You know. Just as a point of comparison.
Eureka burrs tend to be medium body and lower clarity, kinda balanced in a way that might be alright for a medium or darker roast, you won't get really clear notes from a light roast but it works pretty well for medium and darker roasts. I think they do that for versatility, the Niche would probably still do better here, but I suspect it might be something not so bad like the Monolith produced, probably a bit worse though.

What is incredible is there are people that say the MD blend is the only coffee they drink and that it is a conspiracy that anyone actually enjoys drinking anything lighter roasted.

I know this video was intended to be silly, but there is so much to learn from your experiment by understanding the inverse of what our typical extraction goals are. It also helps explain why the hardcore fan of Malabar Gold tends to resell their Flat Max shortly after they buy it, lol! Next up:

I am mostly surprised by the coffee choice... I unapologetically blend 2 drink sizes per puck. One usually Starbucks pike's or Stumptown french and the other a specialty coffee with chocolate forward.
Grind one finer than other based on roast, use a tool to blend the grounds completely...then Super ristretto also 23g in 25g out Max.
Milk with 1tbsp sugar whipped in. Best dessert cappuccino ever

Eh it's still educational, low clarity grinders do well with darker roasts.
You know, I subscribed ur channel because you're making real reviews, say when you taste ur shots, others would praise most of shots, where their eyebrows tell another story, others like 5 digit coffee channels are more becoming a salesman channel, oddly enough that recently those salesmen promote a dimmer mod machine as it's pressure control machine, and I have to unsubscribe and stay away from those salesmen.

Disappointing coverage of the Apollo - really needed to use a modern mid-light roast because the Apollo is wasted on dark, traditional roasts. Really wanted to know how this grinder was in the cup compared with something like its competition which is Kinu and other top-end hand grinders, and also against something like the Varia VS3, a 54mm burr set, and a 64mm burr set. The Apollo's build quality and design alone will knock the Kinu off the top grinder spot.
