Super enjoying your vlogs! Next time you’re back in San Juan/Greenhills area, hit me up! Would love to bring you around to a couple of great Filipino restaurants in the area. Cheers!
Some suggestions from a true Baguio girl: 1. Take a stroll in camp John hay, have lunch or cup of coffee in the Manor Hotel 2. Stroll around session road and go to the Oh My Gulay Vegetarian Cafe, and/ or Ililikha Artists Watering Hole 3. Have a Cordillera 3 hour Massage at North Haven aspa 4. Eat at the best Baguio restaurants with great food and ambience: Canto Bogchi Joint, Baguio Brewery, Rose Bowl Chinese Restaurant, Hamada Japanese Resto, Wood Nymph Korean Resto, Hill Station. Or go to Neighboring La Trinidad to be able to eat good traditional native food - if Farmer’s Daughter is still closed :) 4. See some of the museums - Like Ben Cab Museum, Baguio Museum 5. Before you leave have a good cup of Coffee at Seolen Cafe and have lunch at Bulalo Joint in Camp 7 Barangay. They’re close to each other, so take a walk. Enjoy!
@@CarloOple sure! That’s not an exhaustive list. So when you’re in baguio next time - and If I’m here, just message and I’ll show you around. Send my regards to Estelle!
Please excuse my correction Sherry Ann, Sinanglaw is a sour version of this soup usually soured by kamias with minimal to no bile. Papaitan is already an ilocano word as well.
I grew up in Baguio and I miss it so badly. I especially love your Baguio market video. I've been in every corner of that place. This Outlook karinderia is my favorite, not the fanciest, but one of the best in flavor and authenticity. I believe I ate there every week for months just before I migrated elsewhere. Your videos sir is a cure for my homesick soul. Thank you💜
Marshal Is the most adventurist foreigner eater I've ever seen. So many dishes I've never tried. Hope you get to try the strawberry Taho at the night market at the park (park from your previous video) Because you won't be able to get that back in Manila. It's really fantastic
Another great video. When I went to the Philippines for the first time I was quite impressed at what ingredients went into a lot of the dishes. Almost every dish was called “ surprise “ to me.
Farmer's Daughter is near the school where I taught before and most of my students like to hang out there on the weekends.. It's true, you need to drink your soup fast here in Baguio before it gets cold. 😆 love your enthusiasm as you explore Philippines and try our food. You are what we call 'cowboy', meaning you don't mind if the place and food you go to eat isn't that special as the food you normally eat in America. Welcome to Baguio Marshall..
Whenever you're in baguio, you should eat your soup as fast as you can because it will become cold in about 5mins or less. You definitely don't want a soup, or bulalo that is cold
Your vlogs are always exciting to watch. Short and sweet, perhaps too short?! hehehe; and when a new vlog pops-up, we go directly to watch it and hit the thumbs-up!!!
Papaitan comes from the root word "Pait" meaning bitter because the soup has bile on it. Papaitan is one of the better bile dishes as said by the late Anthony Bourdain.
If you want Marshall, you can visit Banaue, Ifugao too. Try exploring the North and you will get to see more nature. Nature is healing to the soul. You can try the Hot Spring in Hapao, Hungduan as well...
Hey Marshal! Baguio boy here. Original Chef was my go-to greasy spoon when I was still there. I miss their bulalo and pinapaitan. This made me drool and miss my hometown. Thanks for this video!
It's nice to see you enjoying your stay here in Baguio. You can also visit Camp John Hay where Seafood Island is located and other shops to explore... During weekends we also have the night market where you can eat variety of Street foods.. It is located in Harrison Road near session road and burnham park... You can also visit the stone kingdom a new tourist attraction located in Long Long Benguet Rd... But most importantly, you should try at least 1 of the traditional food here in the Cordillera like kiniing, etag or watwat... May you have a great journey here in Baguio 😊
I hope you have a checklist of the parts of the cow you've already eaten. And you've definitely caught on the Filipino 'extra rice' culture 😆 Stay safe sir!
Haven't been home (Baguio city) for 2 years and I'm glad I had seen your vlog quite relieved 😌 as I watched your beautiful tour to my place..Farmer's daughter is just few minutes away from our house..Hopefully you would comeback to eat there once pandemic are gone😀
Just come across your vlogs and really enjoying all of them, really good job 👏👏 cant wait to be in Manila this May to explore, as i normally go straight to my wife’s island.
Farmer's Daughter has changed. I love the native house design they had before. The native house and native utensils like the coconut plates were the real attraction there. I wish they did not change the old style of their restaurant because it was so unique. Now, it looks so ordinary like a common cafeteria. Sad. 😕
He’s so cute and hilarious trying hard to explain what papaitan is🤣. I myself can’t exactly describe everything that’s in it, I just know it’s good. Love his videos, make me miss home all the more.
Well, just as I said on your latest "pares" vlog, If you like the beef papaitan, then you may like the goat papaitan better, and it's less fatty. I don't know if you're still in Baguio or not, but Baguio announced just today they are limiting the number of incoming tourist that can enter Baguio to 4000, I think. But the coldest days are usually within mid January upto early or mid February. Anyway, there 4, 5, or more places that are much colder than Baguio. Trust me, you would need a thick jacket and layers of socks before getting under your blanket. Mankayan in Benguet is probably the coldest in the Philippines.
Very impressed that you tried the papaitan - it is definitely an acquired taste. Another entertaining vlog, Marshall. We are looking forward to the next one. 👍 Stay safe and enjoy the adventures. 👌
You can try the bakareta, in the Slaughterhouse. It is so good. It is near one of the basketball courts. Ask around Marshall..take care. Also try RockYard cafe.
Sir,glad you enjoyed your stay in baguio, come back again or extend your vacation so that you will explore more tourist spots here in benguet. try to travel around the nearby provinces pretty sure you will be amaze with the stunning views! so many caves also here in benguet!
Here's a tip for you. You can have a half (1/2 cup) order of rice whenever you are in "Carinderias" (local eateries) like the one you've shown on this vlog and you can ask for a bowl of soup for free...
Great to see you traveling outside Manila finally Marshall!Small eatery is the best place to eat cheap and delicious with fresh ingredients of the day. Hope you enjoy the relatively cold weather of Baguio. 👍
Just concern for your health sir, it’s ok to eat those as long as you balance it out by eating more veggies & fruits as well. We want you to live many more years❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
good thing you were able to push through with your trip. We were supposed to be there at this time too but covid hit. Farmer's Daughter is very good by the way, hope you get to try it there
Should be a good place to eat since it's beside the barangay hall. That papaitan looks so spicy since you mixed with those small spicy peppers. Those red peppers colors stand out! I hope you enjoy there in Baguio. Change of weather at least.
I used to eat papaitan before but since my uric acid elevated, my doctor advised to refrain fr eating that savory dish. Stay safe, Marshall. Always wear your face mask.
Wow...love watvhing you eat the local food....pa pa e tan..... I would like to try all your places can you include how to get around on the Local transportation
Marshall is very cool about the bitter papaitan, of which even i can't handle. Please try traditional food at Ili-Likha Artists Village or BenCab Museum
I love those 3 food, papaitan, bulalo and knuckle. I cook papaitan here in Manila. Papaitan for me is the easiest and fastest to prepare among those 3.
You didn't say much about the SM Mall. I realise it's just another mall but it is interesting they have the wide open spaces to bring in fresh air so they do not need to have air conditioning. Very green thinking. Also, they have the huge front open patio on the second floor with a really nice view of Baguio.
maybe you could explore..cagayan de oro to cotabato route..cagayan de oro to davao..and the hundreds of carenderia on they way..//and oh Pagadian to Cotabato..lots of good food to review..
Papaitan is an acquired taste, kudos to you for the adventure of trying it without fear or favour. But unlike you, I've never tried it as friends tell me it is bitter and different to what is mostly served. It is a dish that is common in the northern part of the Philippines.Have clocked 40 years in Sydney, and in less time than that, you've tackled a dish I might yet try one day. Marshall, the vlogs you do are helpful and objective, good on ya! .
Try to eat strawberry taho while it's cheap here in Baguio because when you return to Manila, everything will become expensive again. Try to visit Good Shepherd too and buy their ube jam. A very limited menu, but looks very good and "quiet" is nice; I'd prefer that than crowded & loud places to eat; stay safe, Marshall! Here's to 18K!
