In the world of heavy duty trucks, sometimes there are those who want to take things to the extreme. Bigger suspensions, bigger engines, almost always in hopes of being the biggest and baddest truck in the league. The 2017 RAM 2500 Power Wagon aims to land a punch in that pile, backing up the looks with heritage, function, a class leading HEMI powerplant and more! So can it come close to being or be the top dog when things get rough and tough? Watch the review to find out!
I purchased my 2017 power wagon in February. Has 8,000 miles to date, and I have put through everything thing from swamp mud , red clay mud, sand, and 2' + water a few times. This is a overall good review of of the truck. Mine was a MSRP of $ 59900. I didn't want leather seats so jist added the options. Has everything this one has but leather seats and vented seats. I was able to get dealership to take off right at $5600 and then there was a $1300 ram box rebate and a $3500 standard rebate. So got a good $10,400 off the MSRP. I have have got it good and stuck a few times. I used the winch to free the truck. It could use some inprovement. On the size of the alternator. Two times under heavy winching I got a low voltage warning. Truck comes with a standard 180 amp, and there is a option for a 220 amp, and even a duel 220 amp. The larger alternator is only a $150 upgrade and I sure would have added if I would have known. Also the winch really should be a 15000lb with a standard 220amp alternator. For I have had that 12000 and the 180amp alternator give me some problems pulling the truck out when it was good and bottomed out in mud. Other than that I have owned 8 2500 Ram 4*4 since 2000 and I so enjoy driving this one.
Yes you can change the 4x on the fly into high, just not low should be in neutral for that
Just bought a 2018 yesterday with 34000 miles , so far I’m not disappointed can’t wait to take it on some trails
Year later, mind if we get an update how the power wagon is? I wrecked my 1500 today and there's a 2016 PW nearby for a decent price
@@itsNep_ I’m loving it man, I’ve taken it on some trails and it does awesome good clearance, awesome flex and it’ll creep through just about anything. It’s also my everyday driver . The gas mileage average for me is about 15.4 which isn’t too bad . Nice comfortable ride on anything but some back country roads lol but still isn’t that bad . The only upgrades I did was new rims and 35” tires to replace the 33” the 35s fit on nice with no rubbing at all and I’ve put a cold air intake on it cus I just do that with every vehicle lol . I definitely recommend it man . She’s slow tho computer shuts you off at 97 mph and she’s not as spunky as my 1500 sport was but she can still do a hell of a burn out

Thankfully it was just me in the truck, still super sore but no major injuries. Black ice is a bitch.
you can get a sunroof...but i've heard of some leaking...plus never been a fan of sunroofs...easy access for thieves.
Also if you don't get the power wagon model the 6.4 ram 2500 with a 4.10 it's rated to pull over 15k

It's NOT 62,000.00! I just purchased a 2018 Fully Loaded less sunroof, rino liner, side bed tool box for 50,500.00 and that included ttl. I special ordered it from the factory... I don't know why these youtubers always say the Power Wagon costs 60,000.00!!!
They go by MSRP. Rebates are different for different regions of USA. Dealer discount varies per dealership.
And how do you like it? What have you seen as far as MPG? They're sweet trucks for sure!
Nathaniel Beck you can’t buy this caring about the mpg esp if you lift it or add larger tires. If you keep stock tires and baby the truck you might get 15 mpg.
I love the RAM! I've driven a 1500 5.7L HEMI SLT but this is BADASS!!! Even though the U Connect system isn't the latest one, it's still one of the best systems in the business. My dad has it in his 2014 (Jeep) Grand Cherokee, and it's awesome, even better than the i-Drive system in my mom's BMW. :)

New 2019 has sunroof available as well as all the safety adaptive cruise control stuff. Just ordered one and after rebates and sales it was close to $70k.
I recently bought the Ram Rebel but I really wish I'd held out for this.

I love the truck
The payload and towing capacity kind of suck considering it's a heavy duty with a 6.4L V8. The Tradesman 2500 with the same engine has more than twice the payload capacity and around 7k more in max towing capacity. And for whatever reason the Laramie power wagon has even less towing at 8,810. I wonder why the capacity is so low? Maybe the rims and tires?
Kendogg it's has a different suspension setup to allow for different terrain useage
Jaikar Chatha Its the suspensions setup, these ride a lot softer than a tradesman 2500.
Can You Fit a 2 liter bottle in that cup holder that is on the door?

Can the rear view camera be viewed without putting the truck in reverse ?
Paul G I think so, I tested a Rebel and I could in it.
T Hawk Only the top mount camera, not the tailgate mounted one. The tailgate camera can only be activated by putting the truck in reverse, very easy to disable the little switch though.

Russell Bluewolf I'm about to pick one for these up, I've been averaging 17 MPG in my 2017 Tester the last week. That being said, I really don't care about the fuel economy, and I doubt any real buyer would either. This is a Power Wagon, not a little weak diesel 1500.

Lol thats pretty cheap i paid 70k for my 18 F-350 Platinum has the 6.7 on a 14 inch Any Level Lift with 44x14.50R22 none dually. Its a show truck of course... but i do own a Ford Raptor 2010 does the job.

This is dodge attempting to compete with Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. But there's a drastic difference. The dodge is jam packed with cheap parts, loose wires, unfinnished interior. The tundra offers more and has better reliability.

News that matter this is not to compete with the tundra. As said the power wagon head been around since 1945. This chain was the first of it's time. Tundra is half time, this is 3/4. Any offroad truck ever is to compete with the power wagon name
