Say hello to the 2015, Ram Power Wagon. In this review, Adventure Vehicle Reviews goes on a three day hunting trip and puts the Power Wagon to the test.
this has GOT to be the best review video of a RAM I have evr seen!! And the production of it was 5 stars!!! Excellent job! This could be a commercial for it, no lie! (if there were 24 minute long commercials...lol oh wait, an infothere is, it could be a RAM infomercial!
As an owner of two Powerwagons, an 07 and my current 05, you have done a splendid job with the review of these extremely capable trucks, right off the factory lines. Thank you for not trying to compare it to the Raptor like many others do, that type of talk is apples to oranges. I take my Powerwagon offroading at least once a week, and took my 07 up into the Colorado mountains every weekend as well and was never at a point where I had to leave it and call a cab because I got stuck. Yes, I got stuck, but then the saving grace, the winch, got me back out and on my way. Dodge leads the way, and Ram too since they re-branded. Hooah!
Heck, the Ford Raptor, as good as it might be, is actually wider than the Power Wagon and many other 3/4 ton trucks. When I hear a journalist claim that it is the ultimate offroading machine, I think they're picturing Baja-type races or desert running across open terrain. I don't think the Raptor's size or even its chassis setup are well-suited to offroading in technical and tight terrain. Not to mention it's payload rating is pretty abysmal, which is the tradeoff when you set a truck up for going off jumps. The Power Wagon is a true, utilitarian, 4x4 workhorse that can tackle all types of terrain and still offer decent towing and payload capabilities; in my mind, that versatility is much more important than outright speed or jumping capabilities that something like a Raptor might offer. My only gripe with the existing Power Wagon is that FCA doesn't offer a diesel option; I think the 6.4l Hemi is a venerable workhorse of an engine, but I'd like to see a diesel option nonetheless.
aaronis31337 What a great compliment. We truly appreciate it. Please know we are doing our best to provide high quality comprehensive vehicle and product reviews
Great video! The negatives are the Power Wagon's size, break over angle and turning radius which would exclude it from many of the trails a Wrangler could run. Even so I wouldn't mind one to go with my Jeep as it is one of my favorite vehicles. Fast forward a year and my Jeeps are long gone and I now have a 17 Power Wagon. I run large trails here in NFLD Canada and the PW is unstoppable on them.
I have a ram 2500 2016 with the Cummins in it but I plan to add a rear locker and a winch. It was a hard choice between that and the power wagon, but the longevity and reliability of the cummins won me over. Great review, best power wagon review so far
probably the best late model Power Wagon break down/review I've seen, and I've watched most if not all of them. Been day dreaming about this truck for years, finally (hopefully) in a position to buy one this year. Refreshing to see a real review and off road test....too many have people in these videos who just do car reviews and seemingly have no real grasp of, or appreciation for, the true abilities of the equipment offered with this truck. Frequently their on either some mediocre test course set up by a Mopar sales team for journalist demos, or on some totally basic fire road that any basic pick up could handle. Thanks again for going the extra mile to try and put a real/better (off)road test together for this truck...it deserves it.
Excellent production, if RUclips weren't so over saturated with other nonsensical off-road channels I think yours would be on top, no matter I subscribed and that's where it starts. Good Luck, I'll continue to watch your content.
A very good review and excellent video. In my line of work, I really appreciate some one who actually uses a vehicle in their reviews, instead of just testing a few minor aspects. I need a capable vehicle and the Power Wagon is my only choice to get me deep into the back country and back without difficulty. Thanks.
Finally a true test for the Power Wagon. Thanks so much for doing a thorough and objective review. I personally own a 2015 Power Wagon and couldn't be more satisfied. I agree with your opinion of upgrades for options. Keep up the good work.
that was an amazing review of that power wagon. you guys were only ones that I've seen put that truck through its paces. the video work and music was excellent.
+Mike Z Thanks Mike! I agree with you. Nobody cares to see a capable vehicle, like a Power Wagon, be reviewed on a fire road with a couple of puddles. AVR does things a little different.
This is the best Power Wagon review I've watched! Excellent review! My only suggestion would be to add some footage of the suspension completely flexed out or possible use a RTI ramp.
Hey man nice review! I have a 2017 SLT and for all intentions I bought it you pretty much covered everything one can do with their stock Power Wagon. Props to you man!
Best review I've seen, finally some true real world usage. I'm totally stuck at the moment between a tundra trd pro and the power wagon, with reliability being the biggest factor at the moment.
Well, the Raptor can hold a candle, but it IS NOT AS GOOD as a PW...I'm from Las Vegas where desert driving is ubiquitous to the region...However, since 3/4 of the US is not desert, the PW is a better buy and definitely better on the rocks (take that Neil Diamond)...When I was researching to buy a truck, it came down to these two. Honestly, the Raptor is the best looking truck out there (come on TRX, daddy needs a title change), but in the end, the PW is simply the best bet!
Here in middle east we get Land cruiser 79 pick up which got factory front and rear locking diffs , factory winch , snorkle and manual locking wheel hubs in case electronic fails ...dual fuel tank ...a choice between 4.2 I6 diesel ...4.5 turbo diesel V8 and 4.0 gasoline V6 ...due to shorter wheelbase brakeover angle is excellent too.
Good review...Using a typical PW and not some modded up multi-colored beast is a welcome sight...Only one correction--it's break over angle is not its kryptonite. It is over 23 degrees compared to a Wrangler JLUs 22+ BOA, its absolutely fine...Size yes, but BOA is not an issue.
Hi guys great review, the best one I've seen for the PowerWagon so far. I'm looking at a 2011 PowerWagon for purchase. I like trailing down more technical trails. Is this trucks weight and size a big handicap for technical trails? I keep hearing that it's better as an open space off roader and that is will be too cumbersome on trails. The trails I like are more popular with Jeeps and Cruisers. Would love to hear your 2 cents on this.
If it will fit on the trail the Power Wagon will do almost anything a Wrangler will do. That said, its size does not make it the most ideal for tight technical trails. However, with the proper body protection/armor I would feel confident tackling many technical trails. I guess the question is, how bad do you need a truck bed. If you don't need a truck bed than I would encourage you to look towards the SUV's you mentioned. Happy wheeling!
I'm glad we could be what you were looking for. As far as doing a Raptor review, we would be more than happy to put a Raptor through its paces. It's just a matter of getting our hands on one.
yes sir really enjoyed this review. My favorite feature is the hill decent. Also works in reverse. When climbing steep hills u can keep it on in case the truck goes backward the hill decent will take over.
Standby for the 2017 model then. Ram should be offering the SLT with leather interior. Also, they are discontinuing the Laramie package for 2017 Power Wagons

This is the absolute best powerwagon review done. Guys, why are you not making more videos? This is great shit!

Nice review, I enjoyed it. Such a fun Truck, almost military grade, I love Driving my 2015
Your truck is pretty nice too. I enjoyed your Magnaflow exhaust video. Keep em coming.
Excellent job! I appreciate a tough and honest review including the shortcomings of this vehicle. Production values are excellent as well.
Best review I've seen, finally some true real world usage. I'm totally stuck at the moment between a tundra trd pro and the power wagon, with reliability being the biggest factor at the moment.
Subscribed! I really enjoy the way you did this review. Very comprehensive, well made and great presentation.
Thanks for the Subscription! Stay tuned; we have more videos coming soon.
Thank you for the kind comments. We hope to continue to bring exciting and thorough reviews to our viewers.
power wagon is king of the hill offroad. ford and chevy don't have a truck that even holds a candle
Clyde Jacobsen yup, dodge was the first pickup 4x4. Ford and chevy used new process gear owned by chrysler to make their trucks 4x4

Great review you have a new follower of your channel...and I also agree about the front camera with the high approaches...
Thank you. We appreciate the support.

+Adventure Vehicle Reviews Thanks for the advice, will keep that in mind. Keep up the great work, looking forward to more reviews.
Very Nice Video. I thought you might be forced to use the winch. Someday I'm going to own a Power Wagon.
Great video.. very well done.
really nice video an review, what mountain is that? thank you
We're glad you enjoyed the review. That's Big Bear Mountain in California.
Just wish they had a full center console
sick video man.
God bless California...Snowy Mountains, Desert & Beach all within a day drive of each other...man I miss it....
A bit dramatic with the clear and present danger, but awesome review.
Magnificent truck indeed. Ram still need to fill the slot of a full size SUV to compete with the Chevy Tahoe/Suburban and the Ford Expedition.
waited since 2010 for something like this. what about a raptor review ?
I'm glad we could be what you were looking for. As far as doing a Raptor review, we would be more than happy to put a Raptor through its paces. It's just a matter of getting our hands on one.
can you make one viedo of a ram rebel

Great info. Thanks Shawn.

jeepmanls1 thanks for your subscription. Just FYI, we're in the middle of filming the Ram Rebel review. So more videos to come!
I want a Power Wagon with SLT exterior (without graphics) and Laramie interior. Too much bling bling at the Laramie truck. Great review!
Standby for the 2017 model then. Ram should be offering the SLT with leather interior. Also, they are discontinuing the Laramie package for 2017 Power Wagons
nice
