Power Wagon is a beast!
I know it's so fucking bid ass huge
+robvas I'm not saying it isn't, but all of TFL's videos are very very light off roading
+Terminxman then why couldnt the other trucks make it. Also they are in snow.
+Terminxman you can also find videos of power wagon going through more than that especially bc dodge owns best offroad vehicles and its proven.
Owned Ford and Chevy trucks my whole life. For the first time in my life, I want a Dodge. Way to go Fastlane!
Terrible on gas, going to be expensive maintenance bills, huge, will be difficult to find a parking spot etc etc and I can't wait for mine to arrive at the dealership. :)
I love my Chevy but that comment was AWESOME!
love those power wagons, my favorite truck
I was glad to see Roman mention the Goodyear Duratracs. I havd them on my one ton F350 with the 7.3L Powerstroke. I have it lifted with 35" tires and I have been up and over this hill in the winter as well. even with my truck weighing over 10k lbs I made it. granted I have a Yukon Grizzly locker in the rear etc. but I am really impressed with the tires.
I have a 2500 Ram Crew Cab Laramie Longbox and the truck is a beast. 23 feet long, 6'6" high. It's got the 5.7L and no locking diffs but she's a trooper!
Great review Roman! I got stuck in the snow (hopefully for the last time) in my 2014 Ram 2500 with those awful Transforce tires today. Had to get pulled out by a Silverado. (happy to have the help!) I may get those Goodyear tires as shown. I was on flat ground and wasn't high centered either. 4x4 and anti-spin diff too.
First tfl review ever with proper tires.
I love this truck!! I've always been a Ram lover so seeing this do so well reinforces my love for this truck.
It seems Quad traction is what it takes to have full control , and a little added weight helps. The truck is amazing looking. Sits nice and high with its head up feeling proud , thanks for this video.
Great vid. I have a 72 power wagon. 318 4 speed. Its unstoppable.
BF Goodrich KO2 not Bridgestone little slip Roman. Only one I can remember. You guys do an incredible job getting your facts correct 99.99% of the time
At the beginning i did not know where it was headed but realized it soon and awesome intro.
It's amazing what lockers can do for you
Just confirmation of what I already knew as an owner of a 2015. This truck is beast 👍
Great package and a good test of the vehicle. It would be equally great to see a redesign of the Dakota with this type of set-up in a slightly smaller package.
One of the most well put together FLT videos I've seen! and great job to the truck!
I have pretty much the exact truck. Except I don't have the toolbox in the truck bed sides. Everything else I have .
Really been digging the more refined editing you guys have been doing. Keep it up! Also the Power Wagon is the definition of a bad ass truck!
This video looks great in 4k. It's now the video I use to show off the new tv's picture
It doesn't matter what type of truck. It's all about the tires, type of 4x4 system and the drivers abilities.
Indeed a good $10k used 4x4 with around $5k of upgrades would get up the goldmine.
+JUKEBOXX1990 Very true but that's because those upgrades would go specifically into increasing off-road capability. This is till a good test for stock vehicles I think. Not super scientific but still worth doing
+Victor W And front lockers.....
+Keinlicht really it's just a good test of tires. Any cheap 4X4 with quality snow tires could pass this test. Every failure of this test is because of one reason: loss of traction by the tires. Not ground clearance, not horsepower, or even turning radius problems; just tire slippage.
+John G That hump at the end? No, sway bar disconnect and lockers, front rear, are what makes that happen. Sure tires help, but look up the 05 or so series Power Wagon in Moab...
Nice video guys and FYI, the next gen Raptor arrives late THIS year as a '17 model and I for one can not wait. :-)
I hope you guys can get your hands on one ASAP and really put it thru the paces. It's gonna be something really special.
-All of these weenies complaining about the TT 3.5 do so because they're stuck in 1975 and can't admit there really IS a replacement for displacement.
this is a sick truck and it never even broke a sweat !!
you guys have to much fun.and yes I'm jealous. keep up the good work.
we use those wrangler duratracks on our medium and heavy duty vans and trucks for snow removal plowing and shoveling crews. and they are prob the best tires i have seen for the snow yet.
I am a big GM fan. Love the Silverados and Sierras, but the Power Wagon has to be one of the best looking and performing trucks in production. They look so badass! If I would ever switch from GM I would have to get a Power Wagon. I'd get one now but currently saving for a GMC 2500!
And this is why I love my power wagon!
I'm very impressed about the Power wagon 4x4!
I could totally understand your nerves. I love going onto back roads and exploring but it is intimidating facing iffy situations and driving miles on jagged looking rocks in the desert etc. Sometimes it isn't as fun as it seems.
There are two Power Wagon options one is the Power Wagon Tradesman which does away with a lot of the options and brings it in at about $47,405 instead of the $56,515. Same great truck just without all the bells and whistles. Tires are one point in providing traction but weight has a great advantage in providing traction also and being able to articulate better also helps with providing traction also.
If I recall correctly the snow when you attempted the trail with the F-150 Raptor was deeper.
I like that guitar riff by the Off-White Stripes!
New reigning champ of gold mine hill
I'm a Toyota guy, but this is a real truck! I see you guys using the OSMO a lot more in your videos :)
I was wondering when you guys were going to test a ram!! Great video, thanks
I want one so bad,my favorite truck of all time.
That front and rear locking diff did it!
Great review Roman, nice to see you doing this and having fun! Keep it up! :)
I have one. Its even more fun with mud. Being a Pipeline Inspector I go where others can't.
That front diff helps a lot that's why every off reader usually add one to their vehicle! Good job dodge
I love this channel so much I wish I worked there. Great channel.
From a Chevy man, this is a great truck! I'm looking for one as I write this comment. However, do you think some of that 4 x 4 ability had to do with possibly the best tires, Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs? I put a set on a 2 x 4 truck and I run FLT's Ike Gauntlet (Georgetown to Silverthorne and back) every day with indifference to rain, snow, and ice. The only thing better is the matching set of Duratracs I have on a 4 x 4 truck. Thanks for this article/clip, it made a believer of life in other than a Chevy.
This is such a fun video to watch!! Keep it up guys!!
yes Chris T. they always do stage 2 from a stop
Ide like to see the Chevy 2500hd go through exact test(including the snow).
LMAO, It would never happen it would be fun to watch though .
i've been a ford guy pretty much since I had a license... but god dang if that wasn't a notable offroad difference over the f150.
The power wagon has always been a badass truck, but to be fair, there wasn't nearly as much snow on the ground as when they tested the Raptor or the Titan.
+Jonathan Roberson really. REALlY, are you crying..... cause of the conditions... you love Ford that much you will come up with that? REally? Wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
C Steele I think it's time to take your meds, bud.
Jonathan Roberson the only one on meds is you with comments like that. Wahhhhhhh wahhhhhh wahhhhh!
C Steele lol, good comeback. You could just go watch all of the other vehicles do the same test and see for yourself, or just keep embarrassing yourself.
Good review FLT. There is NO other truck like the Power Wagon. The raptor & the others just aren't in its league. Those trucks are 4wd yet that's where the similarity ends. The others just seem to be fast fun dune runners where this truck is more at home in this type of environment. I don't think this PW even spun a wheel did it? Thanks for the review FLT.
Good show. The 2017 Jeep has a lot to catch up to.
Can you guys do an review on Ram 2500 AVE Prospector?
and that's why I love my 74 power wagon.
i wouldnt be upset but i do recall there being an extra foot of snow on the ground when you tried it with the raptor
More please! Great video! It's so hard to find videos featuring the powewagon perhaps the ike test and 100 mile loop?
Now bring the Titan and raptor up on the same day.. Same conditions I'm sure they all would have made it.. But the duratracs tires are awesome, does the power wagon come stock with those?
Great video, love gold mine hill videos!
well if your gonna have a name like RAM, you better be good in the snowy mountains right. great job. a win for us big things! lol
i know a lot of people that swear by the duratracs, my father had a 92 f250 2wd on his farm and it got stuck every other day, put duratracs on it and it almost never got stuck again
Here's a challenge: Get Chrysler/Fiat to let you take the Jeep Africa up there. Boy would that be a hoot! The Land Cruiser could have done better with better tires but I understand the "off-the-showroom-floor" test concept. Tires mean a bunch and the sway bar disconnect had to help the PW keep its feet on the ground in Phase 3. Thanks for fun tests!
Keep up the great reviews TFL Truck! hope you have time to do an IKE Gauntlet run and a MPG loop with the Power Wagon!
The Fast Lane Truck, great job on these videos. There will always be people who bitch and complain. It's not like you guys can control the elements or the timing of when each vehicle arrives to be tested. To all the whiners out there, why not put together your own channel and do these test in your own PERFECT way? JS!
You are so correct. We don't have control of the weather or the timing of when the manufacturer supply us the trucks. We also don't have the budget to buy new tires for trucks we don't own. We do the best we can given these limitations. Thanks for watching!
+The Fast Lane Truck just for fun you should put the ram power wagon against mercedes 6x6 i think it would roast the 6x6 though
+The Fast Lane Truck 👍
Love the power wagon but I'd love it even more if I could get it w/ the cummins.
There was dirt everywhere.. Power wagon is a beast truck but there significantly less snow compared to other tests.
Nice camera work!
Def a proper off road truck. Though there wasn't as much snow as other test.
This vid is the best advertising RAM could get. TFLT should get a nice gift basket for this. ;)
The one question I have though, is that throughout the vid we keep hearing about how wide the truck is. Looking at the specs for the 2016 Power Wagon at a local dealership here, it says exterior width of 79.5 inches. Specs for a 2016 F-150 look to be 79.9 inches wide, and a 2016 Silverado at 80.0 inches. So are these numbers wrong and the Ram PW really is wider than the others, or does it just seem wide due to the lift?
those wranglers are amazing in the snow! i know i have them
I had Duratrac 315/75/16's on a 03 Z71 and the only limiting factor was running 4hi in extremely deep stuff. I had snow that was getting pushed by my mirrors and the truck begged for more (In 4lo). It had 3.73's so I imagine 4.56's would've made it ideal and much more fun. But I can't say enough good things about the Duratracs!
i think that RAM power wagon is the best for off road.
The front and rear lockers were engaged, which made a huge difference. Plus the front sway bar was disconnected... which I think was the deciding factor at the end with the "cut out" as Roman put it, on the top of the hill. The tires were pretty damned good as well All and all, the first vehicle they've tested that was equip properly to be in the conditions they put it in. I but if the fit was the same and they put those tires on the other trucks/suv's they would have performed much better as well. Maybe not to the top, but much better.
+dddire striats You must also realize how much less snow and ice there was on this test versus the others. I think the other trucks would have made it up just fine in these conditions.
+OSTKCabal You'll notice they didn't hot rod it up the hill as well. I think the truck would have made it up the hill while the others failed.. as the conditions while worse, were not terrible. And I think the other trucks would have made if further on this run as well. Though not to the top. I'm not a ram fan boy with the way. I just realize how much better a truck is with lockers and tires... and the disconnected sway bar is what got them to the top. If it was connected, they might not have made it up over the top. You put front and rear lockers on any truck/suv and good tires, any truck would have go up this hill... today.
Best intro ever
The Power wagon has always been the best
How heavy this truck is. I'm surprised that the other half tons did not make it. Got to give it to the front and rear locker.
I thought the raptor has a factory installed such as well?
Excellent! Thanks for sharing this review
I could see before he attempted part 3 he was gonna make it,, you could see dirt in the snow,, the raptor video there was a lot of snow/ice to be seen
there was a lot more snow when the raptor attempted it, this snow is packed down and far from fresh. aka easy af to drive over.
Ram Power! rock crawler and snow crawler awesome!
The test is as fair, given the limitations on logistics. In my experience snowpack is considerably worse for traction, I'd rather make the first set of tracks in virgin snow. This is not the first time I've heard of Ford using less than adequate tires, so that the raptor had to be winched out is not a shock.
i see more dirt in this comparison verses trucks that were in this contest in the past. also someone explain to me why there is only 410hp in the 6.4 hemi?
The 118 Dislikes are Ford and Chevy Owners.
Have you ran this course in a 2015+ GMC 2500 HD Z71? Probably the most comparable comparison to this truck.
Hello. Just wanted add my two cents. What about the Chevy Reaper. Havn't seen anything on that truck.
And I like whatching videos from TFLT. Great videos. Oh and I have a Reaper.
Questions. That same engine makes 485hp and 475lb-ft torque in the Challenger/Charger/300SRT. so 1) Why is it so detuned in this truck? and 2) What would it take to bring it up to those specs?
I am a Toyota guy all the way but that is a seriously impressive truck!
hey guys you should make a video of the gmc sierra 2017 z71 in the gold mine hill
Are you going to trade in the old raptor for the new one when it releases?
As crazy as this sounds would like you to do the 100 mie loop and test the gas mileage. I'm going to buy a new truck and this one is in the running,
you should do a side by side competition between all full size offroad trucks the power wagon, raptor, trd tundra, titan pro4x, with the same driver same track offroad
The raptor is awesome and the power wagon is incredible. I couldn't afford both so I went with the PW because I live in upstate NY and not out west near dunes and high speed fire roads. Both are the best in there own elements. Besides whether you are a Ford, Chevy, or Ram guy or gal remember the real enemy is Nissan and Toyota. USA!
Man! You can just hear that exhaust chocking that truck to dearh!
There was less snow and less ice this time.
A lot less the landcruiser and Titan had it the worst
+Piotr W yeah pretty sure it had Bridgestone dueler highway terrain or the equivalent Michelin
Yeah looked like it got melty at one point and froze into nice grippy solid crystals.
I think if this video does not convince you that not only do you need good technology but the right TIRES for the situation I am not sure what will. Case in point was the Toyota Land Cruiser video that you posted, the technology was there but really the street oriented tires are what held it back. I bet if you put a set of those duragrips on the Land Cruiser it would walk up Gold Mine Hill just like the Power Wagon without any drama.
Are Colorado trails still open???? Or did they open it up just for you?
Hey Roman! KO2s are BFG not Bridgestone...just fyi
wait, bridgestone ko2, or did you mean bfgoodrich ko2?
Is there any talk from Ram on them offering the Power Wagon with a Cummins diesel option?
Were all these videos filmed on the same day?
Even then one truck can make it way harder from spinning.
Snow off roading changes condition in minutes and is never the same!
If you fellas ever come up to Canada, make sure it's in the summer ok :)
This is hilarious i do recall watching the raptor video and it not having he best tires on it, these tires look brand new and we all know new tires give you traction. Also there is no snow here and in the raptor there was inches of snow that it had to go through haha
The Wrangler Red Rock also has a factory installed winch
those tires (goodyear wrangler duratracs) are winter rated, as they have the snowflake logo. Good tires fir winter...i know thats what i have lol
