White Knuckle Offroad sliders. Google them. You're welcome. Bolt on, look great, kick out at the rear and very stout. I opted for the heavy wall version and love them. had them line x'd black and have came down on them a few times already and still can't tell where I hit. They're located in Apple Valley CA, and aside from not paying for shipping, they may offer a cash discount for local pickups.
Oh man, the Tradesman with power wagon package seems like a way better choice for an actual offroad truck, if only for the easy to clean interior. Kudos to FCA for making it, plus, anything to avoid the mustache.
I ordered mine! Make sure to give yourself 4-6 weeks to get them. I did a bunch of research and decided to get them two months after I got the truck. If I would have ordered them when I bought it I would have them now.
First mod I bought. Got done a little ahead of schedule, and ended up with them already Line X'd and sitting in the garage waiting for like two weeks while I was waiting for the truck to be delivered, lol. Opted for the heavy wall version and have came down on them a few times already and they haven't moved.
Yes, there are sliders available, as a previous commenter mentioned. Daystar is a cheap street leveling kit. Also, no matching spare tire. She’s not ready to instruct just yet. She should have saved by purchasing the tradesman and putting that money into a real build. Too bad.
I looked on the Ram 2500 Build and Price page, and I can't find the Tradesman with the Power Wagon equipment package. It's not under packages or options. Anyone know where it is? EDIT: Never mind. I found it. Not sure what I did differently, but I found it.
I'll be buying a truck in April. I stared out on the Ford Raptor now I see these two Ram's. I am moving away from Raptor. I need more than a pretty face off-road but a tow vehicle to pull a camper that is also badass 4X4. But I am done being auto-poor no more new. I am on a budget. Any ideas?
I find it odd that the 6.4 hemi only makes 410hp and 429lb-ft in the Ram. The 5.7 in the 1500's makes 395hp and 410lb-ft and while I know peak numbers are kind of irrelevant when it comes to trucks I would still expect there to be more of a difference, especially with torque
What they don’t tell you is the low end torque is also noticeable. The 5.7 wants to wind up before you feel the power. With the 6.4, power comes almost instantly at very low rpm 👍
I was originally going to go for a Tradesman version. I'm glad I didn't. The Uconnect is really quite nice. I'm actually surprised. Hands free phone connect to my iPhone is awesome, and never a complaint from people I'm talking with. The park assist err whatever they call it is almost a necessity given the height of the hood. One option that I wished it had (this is a '16) was remote start. I'm in AZ, and here in the Valley it is hotter than hell in the summer, and my place in Flag is cold as shit in the winter. Well, I got to talking with the head Service Tech at my dealer during the last free oil change, ordered the module with two new peanut fobs for around $300. Awaiting arrival. I do about 2500 miles of dirt driving a year just to my house. Thing is awesome. No, it is not the same as a Raptor, but that is not what they were going for, nor me. I think out the door ~$46ish. $54 is sticker. And they had to pull this one from San Diego, as there was only one left in AZ at the time, and it was not white, which is what I wanted.
Here's what I can say after driving a regular RAM 2500 6.4 Tradesman 4x4 (2016) and trading it for a 2017 Power Wagon. Both are awesome trucks to each their own, sucks bad on gas BUT that's not WHY you bought these beasts for. I wasn't a big fan of the Rebel-inspired grille of the 17 BUT ya know after quite some time and seeing it in flesh, driving it everyday it REALLY grows on you. It has that mean masculine in your face look in it.
Frogboy preference wise. I've always wanted a Power Wagon since I was 14 (truck came out in 3rd Gen form 2500). That was back in '05 so you do that math lol. To me the truck has a well balance of old school proven features (straight axles, no wishbones), manual shifted 4WD controller and the modern appointments you'd want/ expect in a modern vehicle. It can be a pain to park due to its size but I'd still prefer a 3/4-ton over a Raptor.
Paulo Abesamis the 2500 ram hd are Worst in reliability of trucks that's why I won't buy one two of my friends own a 2500 let's just say there in shop more then on the road and a guy I know had a power wagon 2014 I think he didn't have it long if you know what I mean but if you always wanted a power wagon then get one don't let someone talk you out of it it's just other people's opinions.
The only problem I had with my 6.4 Tradesman was the signal update RAM did with their uConnect system. The dealership ended up ordering a new component for it. I daily drive my 4th Gen Power Wagon no crazy stuff done yet and I plan to keep that way and that's also why I bought a lifetime warranty for it. I take good care of my truck esp the running components those are the most important parts in any vehicle. I've had my Power Wagon for a little over 4 months now, only issue I had so far was clearance lamp sealant was fixed under warranty.
Be very careful with that warranty. I had it as well, at the 300k mile mark my power steering pump went out and they sent an adjuster to look at it. They voided my warranty because of the AirRaid cold air intake - basically they were looking for any modifications so that they could void the warranty. You can do no, none, not anything to the vehicle other than Mopar parts or they will void the warranty.
Thanks for the heads up Todd. My Power Wagon is purestock right now, I don't plan putting any modifications other than 35-inch tires and an AEV calibration device. I prefer the truck au natural.
With rebates and negotiating you can get that down closer to $40k. I got my 2014 Tradesman Power Wagon for $39k before tax, tag, title, and negative carry from my trade. lol
the tradesman with the power wagon pkg is exactly how most 4x4 trucks should come. just have a hard time figuring out how they justify the price at 49k.
Best to use a hawse fairlead with synthetic, easy to get the rope wedged in the corners. Not sure the instructor is one? Sorry to say that? Nope, viewers are owed the best insight!
The 2016 looks like old school grunt. The 2017 looks a lot sportier, like it wants to go faster. Both are basically the same truck but maybe suggest slightly different capabilities in the design.
I have a 2005 ram I want to make it a clone of the rebel and power wagon can I put a 2017 rebel grill on a 05? Can anyone guide me to some custom shops or online thanks.
You could always get black grilles and black led headlights and black bumpers and bilstine lift kit and call it good. OR if you want to make it look like the older one you can get billet inserts and paint them red and leave the bumpers and grille chrome and get a bilstine lift kit and maybe put some chrome led headlights.
For the uptinth time, the cummins won't work because of the winch in front. It's too damn heavy And unless you want to pull, the diesel is redundant because you can get the same damn truck as a 2500 GET OFF THE WHOLE 'it needs a diesel' bullshit
So Nina upgraded the front bumper and winch but didn't bother to swap out the roller fairlead with a Hawse fairlead to accommodate the synthetic line? Also, if she wanted a "little difference" in the exhaust, why not swap it out with an aftermarket cat-back since there are enough of them on the market to make the sound go anywhere from mild to wild, unless she got the stock diesel exhaust for free? I'm sure the truck sounds like crap on the the highway when the MDS activates without that resonator. I will say that even though I love the creature comforts of the upper trim levels, the Power Wagon Tradesman seems better suited for its intended purpose by having just the basic features.
justryback spec out any decently equipped truck nowadays and they are 40k+ msrp even the baby dursmax. trucks are stupid expensive because everyone wants a family truckster that offers luxury amenities. this causes price increase across the boards. My 2013 chevy cc lwb, 4x4 3500hd diesel cost 40k new and still retained that value when I bought it in 2015 with 50k in it.
if youre in the market for one then its affordable for its class. Its a 3/4 ton pickup truck, its not gotta cost as much as a colorado. Not to mention you could get alot of discounts too
TrebuShade Aside from the visual and interior upgades/differences, no. Imo the truck really needed a better look. The old graphics were terrible, and aside from that it just looked like a plain old 2500 with too much chrome. I know some people are into that, so I guess now they're forced into the Tradesman or Laramie.
$49,000 is NOT affordable. That's insane. If I were to buy one, it would be 2-3 years old. Then it gets affordable. That new grill looks awful. The 2017 base truck with the chrome bumper and Power Wagon add-ons without the stickers was much more attractive.
$49,000 affordable? Well, yes it’s the same price as a house back when I was a kid, but unfortunately things change. You wouldn’t think twice about $200,000 for a house these days, and that is at the low end. You can thank double digit inflation caused in part by labor unions. Still, in 2017, if $49,000 seems expensive to you, you need to rethink your career choices.
Very affordable? $49,000.00? Not sure what cloud you live on, but where I'm from $49,000.00 is a ton of money. The average working man can barely afford to feed his family, let alone afford a $785 a month truck payment to get him there (4.8% for 6 years). That's almost a house payment. There is no way I'm spending this much money on a truck that's going to sell for less than half of that price in two years. I'd rather see a review for a '78 Datsun that's going to break down every 3000 miles but only cost me $10 bucks to fix. Thanks, but I think your "affordable" comment just justifies the Big Three's money grab.
Ragnarok Nope, I bought a 2017 Frontier Pro 4x for $29,000 back in 2016, I just traded it in for a 2018 fully loaded Power Wagon (leather, nav, sunroof, etc etc) that retailed for $68,000. They gave me $25,000 on trade in and took $13,000 off the price of the power wagon for a grand total of $35,000 Canadian out the door. Even if you didn't do the trade in that's roughly $63,000 out the door for a fully loaded Power Wagon.
Kolt C Nissan has the rights to that engine. I don't think any brand would share engines. also the 6.4 hemi is a much better off road engine than any diesel would be.
SAVAGECUMMINS lol you should look at every sigle tractor trailer maker they all have different engine options for each truck Cummins and CAT are universally used...
Once gas hits $3.00+ a gallon you can get one( or any large vehicle) for a song...with 0% apr....come on Trump invade somewhere already so I can get my power wagon!!
Power wagon all times is cool/great truck, but 33 tiers on base seriously?🤦🏻♂️damn, minimum need 37tires!!!, and ram on 38/39 =god 33 tiers is children car..chickens,
Ah no.....They look nothing alike and imho the current body style of Ram is the best looking truck inside and out on the market and if it's a Power wagon then it's a special truck that no other auto maker comes close to whether it be a Raptor, Colorado ZR2, etc. Other trucks try but fall short.
I wish Ford gave you a long term raptor because I'm getting sick of seeing the power wagon so much maybe it's just me but the 2017 power wagon just looks ugly I like the 2016 power wagon a lot more I get they gave you one but you do a lot of power wagon episodes a lot of them the power wagon is cool but it's just not that cool if you know what I mean.
I had no idea 2016 was “old” already, my 2012 powerwagon must be an ancient relic.
White Knuckle Offroad sliders. Google them. You're welcome.
Bolt on, look great, kick out at the rear and very stout. I opted for the heavy wall version and love them. had them line x'd black and have came down on them a few times already and still can't tell where I hit.

Andre is referring to the MSRP when he talks about the pricing. You can get $10k off MSRP on pretty much any RAM truck right now.
+METALITHrevetments Yes, we always quote MSRP because rebates vary by region and season.
Spasibo
And the winner is ...
RAM POWER WAGON
I do love those trucks. Oddly, here in Canada a base 2500 with power wagon package is the exact same price as a base power wagon. No savings at all.
Oh man, the Tradesman with power wagon package seems like a way better choice for an actual offroad truck, if only for the easy to clean interior. Kudos to FCA for making it, plus, anything to avoid the mustache.
Finally a female off roader! Thank you. I was bored with all these youtube trucks... now I'll subscribe to your channel. Thank you Barlow.
all that beautiful chrome. why didn't we see more of the base model?? it's the best base model you can buy!
Roller fairlead for a synthetic rope?
Wow that new grill is badass. Much better than out dated crosshairs
White Knuckle Off Road makes sliders for the Power Wagon.
I ordered mine! Make sure to give yourself 4-6 weeks to get them. I did a bunch of research and decided to get them two months after I got the truck. If I would have ordered them when I bought it I would have them now.
Strange she didn't know about these awesome sliders!,
+Riotman, Yeah, Google is your friend. I'm ordering mine next week.
First mod I bought. Got done a little ahead of schedule, and ended up with them already Line X'd and sitting in the garage waiting for like two weeks while I was waiting for the truck to be delivered, lol.
Opted for the heavy wall version and have came down on them a few times already and they haven't moved.
Yeah, saying no one offers an offroad slider threw me too. Everyone at Power Wagons in Moab was running White Knuckle sliders for the most part.
I never found either exhaust very appealing...
I like the new grill. I also like the old grill. See how easy that was? Let's all high five now.
I PUT ROCK SLIDE ENGINEERING "STEP SLIDERS" ON MY 2016 LARAMIE P.W. KINDA PRICY ($2000) BUT IT MAKES MY VERTICALLY CHALLENGED WIFE HAPPY
Awesome review and video
+Albert Ortiz Thanks!
I agree.
Resonator delete isn't custom. Essentially what that is.
A Borla, Corsa or Solo system would let the 6.4 "be heard."
Romoving the resonator makes it sound exactly like our 2006 ram 2500 hemi! These trucks sound so much better without them.
Rocksliders are available through white knuckle off road in Hesperian CA these are heavy duty and bolt on.
This things are AWESOME! Love Nina's version too. I'm so torn! Should I get a Ford F250, or the Ram Power Wagon... decisions, decisions!
I like the lights of the 17' and the grill of the 16'.
YAY! Overland Expo! Second only to Easter Jeep Safari, in my opinion. I still prefer the crosshair grille, though.
Yes, there are sliders available, as a previous commenter mentioned. Daystar is a cheap street leveling kit. Also, no matching spare tire. She’s not ready to instruct just yet. She should have saved by purchasing the tradesman and putting that money into a real build. Too bad.

Power wagons are the BEST!

Andre, can you get the Tradesman with the Power Wagon package with a manual?
No you cant. Only auto.
What is the music in the background???
Still prefer the old crosshair grill. The new one just......I got nothing.
Rob Steingruber I agree
It reminds me of those old Fisher Price pickup trucks they made for kids.
I am sure you can bolt a 16 right up to it.
I agree. not a fan of the new grill on the power wagon and rebel
Rob Steingruber I know. I hear the Angry Birds theme in my head when I see it.
the grill on the old one, looks way cooler..... IMO
Can I get the Cummins in a standard cab long bed tradesman and have it fit with the power wagon package? That would be the ultimate work truck.
No you cant. Only the HEMI is available for power wagon and power wagon package on the tradesman. And only crew cab 6 and 1/4 inch bed.
Personally I prefer the look of the 2016
Me too. I think they also made a mistake by dropping the option for the Laramie trim.
METALITHrevetments, they still offer the Laramie trim for 2017, I got mine with "delmonico red" (maroon).
My toyota Previa could get over and up those little rocky roads. Show us these trucks over rougher terrain.
Are the grills and bumpers plastic?
Regis Riley The bumpers are metal, grills are plastic.
I'd get the Laramie power wagon, all options included

@ 2:48. Full tank of gas, and a range of 211 miles. Scary.
The range is more like 360. Maybe it was in 4Lo?
Affordable at 49K... Yikes
With rebates and negotiating you can get that down closer to $40k. I got my 2014 Tradesman Power Wagon for $39k before tax, tag, title, and negative carry from my trade. lol
Matt Cruz same trick in a Chevy would probably be 75-80k
the tradesman with the power wagon pkg is exactly how most 4x4 trucks should come. just have a hard time figuring out how they justify the price at 49k.
rjw261984 have you seen how much a Jeep rubicon costs?
110degrees no, havnt looked into the price of jeeps.
Best to use a hawse fairlead with synthetic, easy to get the rope wedged in the corners. Not sure the instructor is one? Sorry to say that? Nope, viewers are owed the best insight!
49k still doesn't seem affordable to be. I'm just too cheap i guess
Like the 2017 look way better. Much more clean.
The 2016 looks like old school grunt. The 2017 looks a lot sportier, like it wants to go faster. Both are basically the same truck but maybe suggest slightly different capabilities in the design.
i see an occasional Raptor on an easy trail and have never seen a Power Wagon off roading. people that buy these trucks just buy them for the look
white knuckle off road. com they have the sweetest rock sliders for power wagons
I have a 2005 ram I want to make it a clone of the rebel and power wagon can I put a 2017 rebel grill on a 05? Can anyone guide me to some custom shops or online thanks.
David Quintana
Nope. You have a 3rd gen Ram. Different body than the 4th gen.
You could always get black grilles and black led headlights and black bumpers and bilstine lift kit and call it good. OR if you want to make it look like the older one you can get billet inserts and paint them red and leave the bumpers and grille chrome and get a bilstine lift kit and maybe put some chrome led headlights.
The older power wagon looks newer Andre.
They should offer the power wagon option to the cummins diesel to.
Want to live in the USA not suitable for off road...
Shouldn't that be up to the customers i think, and Chevy offers the Colorado ZR2 whit diesel and that works fine.
Want to live in the USA Comparing the 2.8L baby Duramax Colorado to the Cummins is, well, dumb. You want a diesel Power Wagon? Call AEV.
For the uptinth time, the cummins won't work because of the winch in front.
It's too damn heavy
And unless you want to pull, the diesel is redundant because you can get the same damn truck as a 2500
GET OFF THE WHOLE 'it needs a diesel' bullshit
Kristopher Klassen ^This, that was gonna be my next rebuttal
49000 bucks and affordable don't go together
+evan leo We think that relatively speaking, $49K is a good price for a base Power Wagon.
evan leo same truck from Chevy would be 75-80k
+Evan, for what you get, it really is given the insane price all the manufacturers get for trucks these days. AND what it comes with.
It's all relative.
You can fit 37s with no rub.
Kevin Noll yeah he's full of bs
Kevin Noll I have a 16 power wagon with 37 12.5 on stock rims and no level and it doesn't rub at full lock...
So Nina upgraded the front bumper and winch but didn't bother to swap out the roller fairlead with a Hawse fairlead to accommodate the synthetic line? sometimes i wish i had gone with the tradesman power wagon instead of my 2017 chevy Silverado 1500 LT...
trade your silverado in! That's what I did with my 2016 lt!
I love chrome, but the new design is probably better for off road
Did he say 49k was a affordable truck 😐
justryback spec out any decently equipped truck nowadays and they are 40k+ msrp even the baby dursmax. trucks are stupid expensive because everyone wants a family truckster that offers luxury amenities. this causes price increase across the boards.

you could get one for 35-40K. If thats too much for you, then youre looking to buy the wrong truck
Excelentes camionetas son las mejores .... Ram es Ram
If I had a 2016 Power Wagon I would black out everything, that the only thing I don't like about it.
I cringe every time I see those new grills.
That would have to be replaced with a crosshair grill before I'd even drive one off the lot.
$49,000 affordable? Well, yes it’s the same price as a house back when I was a kid, but unfortunately things change. Tradesman > the fancy pants version
And a full tank of gas will cost you an "AFFORDABLE" $ 200.00
Nina
49000 dollars is NOT affordable.
Really hope that new RAM grille has a short life span, it is just a big fail, looks cheap.
New Ram grill wins
Says she dont care about rubbing, bet she will when her tires are wearing unevenly. That offset wide look is stupid in my opinion.
Chrome vs black
White knuckle off road makes a bolt on slider. I have them on my wagon.
Who else thinks the 2016desihgn is better
Very affordable? $49,000.00? Not sure what cloud you live on, but where I'm from $49,000.00 is a ton of money. thunderduckie01 amen
it would be 80K in Canada... lol
Plus it’s fuel mileage is worse than a Toyota Tundra!
Ragnarok Nope, I bought a 2017 Frontier Pro 4x for $29,000 back in 2016, I just traded it in for a 2018 fully loaded Power Wagon (leather, nav, sunroof, etc etc) that retailed for $68,000. Why don't they put the 5L V8 diesel Cummins in the power wagon, the Power Wagon is just like the Titan XD medium duty.
Kolt C lol they already put the 6.7 Cummins in the ram heavy duty trucks. Why would they down grade?
Kolt C Nissan has the rights to that engine. I don't think any brand would share engines. also the 6.4 hemi is a much better off road engine than any diesel would be.

Dodge 318 Cummins I thought we were talking pick up trucks? no? can I go order ram 2500 with cat or duramax or powers trike? no.
They're both new
I tell you, if I was rich.....
honestly the 2016 looks better...
I'm a GM guy but I love these trucks but that 6.4 needs an update.
Once gas hits $3.00+ a gallon you can get one( or any large vehicle) for a song...with 0% apr....come on Trump invade somewhere already so I can get my power wagon!!
the new grill and looks so much better
49K is "affordable".
Ivan Vojt compared to trucks from Chevy yes!
and especially ford
Ivan Vojt Considering all the tech and creature comforts of modern trucks $50k is a bargain.
for those sayin 49k is not affordable, just remember this is a 2500 pick up and offroad capable, forget all that luxury bs
$70,000 for a truck??!! you would need to keep it for 30 years just to get your moneys worth. Big trucks are worthless off road anyway....too big.
Power wagon all times is cool/great truck, but 33 tiers on base seriously?🤦🏻♂️damn, minimum need 37tires!!!, and ram on 38/39 =god 33 tiers is children car..chickens,
She can't afford rock guards right now because after buying her truck she is now broke ass broke!! :)
Big ole nasty ram
the thing I hate about the Rams is they haven't done anything new or innovating on the exterior, a 2017 Dodge ram looks like a damn 2002 Dodge ram.
Ah no.....They look nothing alike and imho the current body style of Ram is the best looking truck inside and out on the market and if it's a Power wagon then it's a special truck that no other auto maker comes close to whether it be a Raptor, Colorado ZR2, etc. Other trucks try but fall short.
Nina is hot
Only 50k for a truck that's put together with sheet metal screws! Not
First
I wish Ford gave you a long term raptor because I'm getting sick of seeing the power wagon so much maybe it's just me but the 2017 power wagon just looks ugly I like the 2016 power wagon a lot more I get they gave you one but you do a lot of power wagon episodes a lot of them the power wagon is cool but it's just not that cool if you know what I mean.
Didn't Roman say they're planning to buy a new body style Raptor?
Supa Doopa no they said they're going to keep the 2014 Ford raptor which we don't even see anymore.
white knuckle off road. com they have the sweetest rock sliders for power wagons
