    Power Wagons are extremely capable off road as long as the trail is wide enough for a semi truck. Where it really shines is as a work truck, even with the low payload and tow ratings. We run a ranch in Montana and when we have to haul livestock trailers, equipment, or hay, across snowy, muddy pastures, or up steep inclines, the Power Wagon always gets the job done, going places where no other truck we’ve had ever could. We sold two of our F250s ( which were great trucks ), and replaced them with 2 Power Wagons. They do a lot of the work we used to use tractors for.

    Just picked up a 24 tradesman power wagon a month ago, 1000 miles on it. I’m loving it as a work truck / hunting fishing camping. Had it in a foot and a half of snow last weekend scouting for late season deer in the cascade foot hills. No problems no regrets

      I like my deleted, tuned, upgraded turbo, upgraded CAI, Banks monster ram intake, Carli backcountry 2.5” leveling kit with track bar and sway bar upgrades to suspension, billet coolant bypass, full 20% ceramic tint all around, banks diff cover, banks oil pan to drain all the oil, amp powerstep xtreme, all on a ram 5th gen 2500 Laramie 6.7 Cummins. Absolute beast, did everything myself and it absolutely eats that’s all with the 6 foot standard bed. I also got a 4th gen long bed 3500 with a 2nd gen swap and that thing is on 22x12s with 37x13.50 wild peak r/t. No way I would take a gasser over a diesel, you delete that emissions junk and it’s not close. Crazy to recommend a gasser to someone unless it’s a raptor or trx never take gassers you sacrifice to much for a pick up truck

It works extremely well. I get 20 mpg at best and about 14-16 regular driving. I love this truck and I’ve had many trucks over the years. My first new truck was an Adventurer SE in 1977. Power wagons are legendary & always have been it's something you could buy & hold on to as an investment if you wanted to or you could buy it & drive the wheels off of it for a couple of decades so long as you do proper maintenance & take care of it ya can't say that about many gas powered trucks anymore

  • @derekheuring2984
    @derekheuring2984 Месяц назад +5

    People who complain about the Power Wagon's payload and towing capacities are missing the point: the Power Wagon was designed for capability, not capacity. It is THE most capable full sized pickup truck in the world when you need it, and a very comfortable highway cruiser when you need that too. If you want to tow your 5th wheeler across America then a 2WD diesel powered HD truck is the perfect match or you. If you want to tow a smaller off grid bumper pull trailer which you park next to a lake while you go explore the high country backroads, then you want a Power Wagon. You match your truck to your needs. I own a 2022 Level 2 Power Wagon and tow a Geo Pro travel trailer which is the perfect set up for my wife and I.

    Power Wagon is a 1 percent vehicle for sure, and a very specific use case. Truth is it has all the goods of a 2500 that towes 17k. I have done 15k from Phoenix to Albuquerque. I tow that much off road as well. Springs do not limit it that much. So it can really do a lot of interesting things. Diesel hd are just clumsy off road. Lots of room for improvement, but planning to order a 2025 when order books open as my 2018 reaches 200k

    I have a '24 PW (may have stated in your other video(s)) - I also have a '23 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon - the Jeep does have a shorter wheel base - however if your loading up the gladiator and hitting rough trails the rear section of the frame is known to bend - with the Power Wagon - the frames are absolutely solid. IMO the Power Wagon is the most overlooked offroader out there - the V8 soundtrack/hemi is a bonus. The only downside like you mentioned (compared to a Jeep anyway) is the width and the added wheelbase - the aftermarket is softer on these than Jeeps as well. If you need something to take offroad - load with considerable stuff (if you install airbags on the rear you regain all of the capacity if not more than a standard non power wagon 2500). They also have a history just as rich as Jeep - they were pretty instrumental in building the Alaska Highway for example and were crucial during WWII (obviously not these new ones). Great points in this video. You can get awesome deals on them now - looks like Jason is going to end up with a PW pretty soon :) .

    The cabin rear seat area is huge. I just spent three weeks camping in it. Removed the rear bench seat (Tradesman with PW package so no 60/40 split). Cut a plywood to shape to make flat floor and slept there.
    I am 6-foot. Had to push the passenger seat forward as much as possible and had to position myself diagonally but I could sleep in a sleeping bag pretty comfortably. In three months I already put 10,000 miles into the truck.

    Articulink front radius arms let the front axle articulate more than others and the PW is the only vehicle that has them. For $300 you can change out rear springs and get the same payload as the regular 3/4 ton ram but it would ride stiffer. You would spend thousands on other trucks to make them as capable as the PW.

    People complain about the 2500 RAMs having the older cab design vs the RAM 1500. If/when they put the new cab design on the HD trucks it will lengthen them and it’ll make the RAM HD longer. I prefer the older cab size myself but I don’t need a large backseat.
    For the diesel lovers, they can go with the Rebel which gives up some of what the PW has and still be a capable off-roader and better payload than a PW.

    Having recently traded in my 75th Anniversary Edition (2021) Power Wagon, I can say it's the baddest truck ever made. The only detractor from this truck are the stealership service departments. They are run by incompetent morons and staffed by techs that cause more problems than they fix on customer vehicles. I loved my Wagon more than anything but became fed up with the stealership experience. I took my truck to SEVEN different Ram dealers around Houston and couldn't find a single service dept that could do what was requested without breaking or damaging something on my truck. No joke. Ramcare is a joke as they closed my case without solving the issues because i was unwilling to leave my truck at a different dealer for over a month without a loaner or rental vehicle. Oh, and that month wasn't for them to actually repair anything. That was just to have it sit on their lot until they were ready to assess the vehicle. All of the Ram dealers here refused to schedule repairs and rather would keep your vehicles for weeks or months. My truck sat on different dealer lots for SEVEN MONTHS of the first 3 years I owned it. I finally traded it in as it was no longer worth the hassle for me.

    actually I'm considering a Power Wagon due to my non satisfaction of my Silverado 1500. And of course there are only two available within 50 miles of my home and they are at a Berkshire Hathaway dealership. I'll pass.

    It's still gonna rot out in 5-6 years. Not one molecule of undercoat anywhere.

      @@Jason-Samko Funny, remember the first Jap cars coming over in the 1970's? The Toyota Corona, predecessor to the corolla (I had a 1973) were basted with undercoat. I had my factory undercoated Corolla into the late 1980's until it finally quit. Very little rot / rust.

      @@Jason-Samko I bought a new 1999 Dodge 2500 ram 4x4 CTD. Back then Dodge galvanized the bed before painting them. My truck bed lasted 19 years before rust through in the wheel wells.

      @@Jason-Samko Now you buy a $90,000 Ford Truck and crawl underneath. They don't even paint the undersides anymore, you're staring at the factory E-Coat, which will last about 5 years in the North East before it rots.
