I picked up a blue 99 Suburban that was perfect, except the clear coat on the roof was peeling. Lighted sanded it smooth, taped up everything but the roof (taped the roof rack rails that run down the middle of truck) then applied blue Monstaliner with the roller... Came out perfect and a really close color match. Now I can throw wet and sandy kayaks on the roof and not worry about rust issues... Great stuff!
I realize this was a customer, but any chance you know what it looks like now that its been 2 years? I'm kinda interested in whether its still standing up to the UV/ fading/brittle. Also, roughly what air pressure at the gun seems to be the sweet spot for shooting that stuff?
Havent seen this one back yet which is a good sign. It would hold up just like in the bed of a truck maybe even better due to the abuse truck beds take. Note: the more textured you make this coating you do create crevasses where dirt gets stuck making it a little harder to clean but a mild pressure washer should do the trick. We use anywhere between 25 to 80psi depending on the person spraying and desired texture. Hold back on your first coat and see how you like it and adjust pressure, speed and distance until you like the outcome of the texture.
Just a query im actually spraying my bonnet in the next week or so. Has any one ever takn this stuff off? And how many coats rufly all going well on bonnet im.gna do whole ute
Hi GUYS!!! Want same on my jeep!!! What colour code did you use? Is it simple Desert Sand or it is a mixture of several to reach this colour? What pressure was used to get this texture? Did you delute the liner with MEK, and if yes, what is the proportion? What technique is better and gives you smoother texture spray or roll? Thanks in advance for any info!!! Job done great!!!
Thanks for the question. Just simple desert sand. Frankly it was the first and only time spraying this brand supplied by the customer so all the parts came pre-measured. Pour contents of part B and C into can of Part A.
I have a question on the steps, I'm getting ready to spray my jeep tj in a week . 1st: tape/mask everything. 2nd: spray 1st light coat. 3rd: spray 2nd light coat. 4th: spray 3rd light coat. 5th: remove tape/masking after the 3rd coat starts tacking up? How much monstaliner do I mix for each spray coat? I bought 2 gallons.
We just mix enough each time into the Shutz gun can. Each time you mix enough product to fill that can you should get one fine full coat on a TJ. It is hard to estimate as everyone I spoke to sprays it different. Some go slower and use more product on each coat and others go faster and use less. Just mix what you need each time and you should be fine. Try a couple of test passes first to get comfortable on how it sprays. Sounds like you have more than enough product for a TJ so take your time and you'll do fine as it sounds like you got the steps all figured out. Remember to scuff the area you are spraying with a good grit paper as recommended on the box so it binds well to the surface. Let us know how it turns out and good luck.
How fast is that stuff dry? I guess what I'm asking is how long do you have when you try to remove what's been taped up is difficult to remove cuz it doesn't come off cleanly?
You can use a fine line tape used specifically for bed liners as they have a wire in it that gives you a really nice line. We use tape and start to pull it off right when we finish spraying the whole truck. That way it doesn't tear.
@@carlos138719 a lot of bedliner sprays have their own ratios for mixing. Some are 2 part, some 3 and I have even used a 4 part before. Read the instructions on how to mix on the back label of the liner you purchased and you should be fine and pay attention to the time they say you have to spray.
We like the under coating style gun like what alot of bedliner suppliers sell or you can also use a drywall texturing style gun like what Al's Liner uses. We scuff the area we are spraying with 80 grit or you can also use a cup brush on a drill or angle grinder.
Very nice job! Thanks for sharing.

An amazing transformation !
Great job! What PSI were you spraying at, and what gun did you use?
Got to be honest. Really hard to get through the video with this music...

Never taken it off so couldnt answer that one. We did 3 fine passes on this one but you can do 2 depending on how rough you want the texture.

@@mattg8787 sorry that I do not know. Good luck with you color change though.
Matthew Full got a 3G 4R myself. I do not think the LC flares fit. Too wide.
@@toolzgarage8631 ever brushed on monsta instead of spraying?
