I remember watching this on Tv,... You can see the respect Brownie has for Jools,... just as Jools has respect for his guests. And if anyone has the chance of seeing Jools Holland and his band live at their local theatre you should go, it's a top evening and his guitarist is one of the best
It breaks my heart to hear Ian Brown say 'its very unlikely' but its reality. Perhaps its for the best; why ruin the memory of the Stone Roses which is a band of legend. Twenty years later their music still endures. God bless the Stone Roses.
Actually Squire himself said he wasn't playing anymore about a year ago. But I think it's all part of the process of creativeness. He's now painting, and may feel the need to play the guitar tomorrow. We can dream till then!
I thought he was gonna be some cocky arrogant character but far from it, nice surprise to find he was a somewhat humble sound guy, underneath all the stage persona there is a decent fella there who I can have a drink.....and maybe share a spiff with - respect Ian !!
I think you'll find he's talking about older rap music. granted the modern day stuff is marketed shite made my white fellas in suites but the older stuff before big corps got their hands on it is genius...
He doesn't claim to be from Longsight if you listen. They regularly played and rehearsed in Longsight and when he was in the nick his fans daubed "free Ian Brown" all over Longsight. So that's his affiliation with the place. BTW he's from Warrington not Altringham! Long live the genius that is King Monkey!
pleasure to see Ian as himself....yeah other interviews he's on the defensive, but when you got a twat throwin stupid questions at yer when he knows fuckall anyway..who wouldn't
he's a legend and all, but he's from fuckin altringham, where all the rich boys are from, not rough at all, unlike longsight, so he shouldnt claim he's from there, he's a cheshire boy.
That's the difference between someone as clever as Jools and that smarmy know-nothing Steve Jones. I hate how TV companies seem to think people my age would like to see smug knobheads in Topman shirts everywhere on the telly. Give me Jools Holland anyday.
@cozener1 Intelligent questions get intelligent answers, I guess. This interview and the one with Tony Wilson see Ian relaxed and forthcoming. Steve Jones asked stupid fucking questions, had a piss taking nature about him and he nearly got sparked for his troubles.
ha yea. you wouldnt see browny wearing any of that generic topman shit. they are two completely different people arent they, and im sure steve jones went away from that interview thinking he didnt do anything wrong. some people never learn
Let me guess your idea of a musical genius is One Direction? No one has ever claimed he's a good singer but thats not the point, if you can't see the point then why are you watching a clip about Ian Brown? I don't like the Spice Girls so I don't watch clips of the Spice Girls simples

Highly unlikely :P

many thanks for this from across the pond
now if only Ian would forgive John
legend, pure and simple. Just wish he would swallow his pride and get back with Squires
Well spotted. Jools is also a good interviewer in that he talks to people with a level of respect as well - no condescending behaviour etc.
love ian brown, MCR
top work ian...
"On that on that on that note" haha
Very intelligent man.
brownie is the MAN
Seems like a really nice guy
The rap bit is a disaster, but what a treat to have him perform Where Angels Play. Great clip, thanks.
he played in 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban', and he played 'Man in the Leaky Cauldron reading book'
knew he'd show that arcive footage pity they did'nt show it to when brown keeps shouting "amateurs" in the backround -mad bastard
the interview always seemed to keep coming back to the weed
I love how pissed off people are at Steve Jones and Topman.
yeah mate nice one
Smoked a spliff with Dre,classic
I thought he was gonna be some cocky arrogant character but far from it, nice surprise to find he was a somewhat humble sound guy, underneath all the stage persona there is a decent fella there who I can have a drink.....and maybe share a spiff with - respect Ian !!
He met B.I.G? That is one lucky guy.
god
This is how you do an interview Steve Jones
hey! Im from longsight! Oh, wait minute I actually cant drive.
He did go Alty Grammar!
wEll, Jools is a musician too, so he has some common sense, and they can talk on the same level as each other.
I think you'll find he's talking about older rap music. granted the modern day stuff is marketed shite made my white fellas in suites but the older stuff before big corps got their hands on it is genius...
Ian Brown, one of the greatest things to come out of Manchester along with Morrissey and Manchester United ( without the Glazier twats )
Ian Brown is a legend! F-off to anyone who thinks otherwise.
if you watch Ians early interviews with the roses and squire, and you watch his newer ones he seems a totally different guy, simpler in some ways
Come on Dr Dre's a fan I've read!!!!
Only recently it has changed to Gtr Manc.
