The world’s on fire
And I can’t get my arse out of bed
The world is on fire
There’s smoke all around my head
What was I thinking about when I crashed last night……
The oceans are rising
And I can’t do a thing about that
So it’s hardly surprising
I built an ark for me and my sleek black cat
What was I thinking about when I crashed last night……
Oh yes, turn off the gas and don’t forget to switch off the light
But that’s all right coz I’m a lazy sod and I’m hot
Don’t mind me coz I’m a lazy sod, you can like it or not
I’m guessing not
What was I thinking about when I crashed last night……
Oh yes, turn off the gas and don’t forget to switch off the light
That’s all right coz I’m a lazy sod and I’m hot, so hot
Don’t mind me coz I’m a lazy sod,
Whether you like it, like it or not
And I’m guessing not
Soooo what

Am 43 years old, when I was a child, Deep Purple was considered as an old classic rock band. I wish more youngsters enjoy their fantastic music
Same here, although I'm a few years older. I discovered Purple in the early 90ies through some friends and couldn't believe how lucky I was to see them live in '93 (one of the last shows with the class Mark 2 lineup). They were considered "rock dinosaurs" back then. Who would have known that they are alive and kicking in 2024?. They still sound very good, although the new songs are not as memorable for me, but they haven't been since Jon Lord left the band, over 20 years ago now. Notable exception: Nothing at all, I love this song.
they are old, to be fair. Some would call this new sound elevator music but hey, they can still rock and roll. I'll take it. And they are damn good live still
When I stared to listen to DeepPurple it was 1993 and everyone around me considered them an old band. I am 45 now.
@@dmytroklokol4030 I hear ya. They never faded away, imo. What's sad is most people today probably never heard of them
Same here. When I was a kid listening to Metallica and Megadeth visiting my dad one time. I decided to look through his vinyl collection... I stumbled upon Deep purple In rock, Machine head and Burn. I was like, what is this? It says Machine head on the cover... I know a band called Machine head... so I put it on... And I was not disappointed haha! Highway star, Child in time, Burn, and I was also blown away by the instrumental on Burn "'A' 200" which kind of reminded me of video game music I had heard. So that's when dots to Nobuo Uematsu started to materialise. It was a trip haha!
Dad, born 48 was a fan. I am a fan born 70. And my son born 06 is a fan.
My dad is a fan born 60, I'm a fan born 85. Heard "Highway Star" on MTV when I was 15 and got hooked forever!
born in 69 and I am a fan. Dad isn't though, he stopped listening to music after Dylan went electric lol

I merely pointed out the fact that Deep Purple put out some of their best albums ever during the nearly 30 years that Steve Morse was their guitarist. I even recommended some of those albums to you, in case they had somehow "escaped your notice."
If there was any "dismissing" going on, it was you blithely dismissing Morse's incredibly productive tenure with Deep Purple. The truth is, he was by far *the* longest serving guitarist they've ever had, as well as one of their most prolific!

@@That70sGuitarist In the first line of your comment you said, " but you can't dismiss the nearly 30 years Steve Morse spent working and playing with them.", to which I replied, " Nobody is asking you to dismiss what Steve Morse did,". How you came to the conclusion that I was blithely dismissing" his tenure is quite baffling. I didn't say that and I didn't imply it. I appreciate what he's done with/for Deep Purple. I don't happen to like all of what he's done but that's just personal taste. You have to accept that not all of us are Stevie fanboys like you. My opinion is that Simon McBride is a far better fit for this band than Steve ever was. I'm sure you'll disagree but hey ho.
As for me misunderstanding, I have the feeling it's you who has misunderstood, maybe deliberately who knows?
Anyway, I hope you feel better after your needless little rant.
Toodle pip.
You're going back to your roots. The new guitarist is good for you. He has this originality like Blackmore.
I am 67 years old. Liked Deep Purple since high school. Never to old to rock and roll.🎸
And he's too young to die
Rock on brotha!🤙🏼💥
❤❤❤ keeps you young
Yes never too old to rock'n roll❤❤❤😊😊😊
Mark.
"Позаимствовали" black sabbat - lady evil.
At the age of 20, my father was beginning to see the release of his hits. Today, at 70 years old, he continues to see new releases. It's a beautiful madness
I’ve always loved this band and though it’s tough not to hear the rich melodies of Ritchie Blackmore, Purple rocks harder than most bands their age…Ian still killing it up front! 🤘🏻
The average age is 80, and they still play better than today's rock bands, and there's nothing strange about it, after all, they were rock pioneers, but there are no substitutes today.
Oldest 2 are 78 next is 76, and youngest is 45. But get the point. Just can't help myself @ times😊
Deep Purple is great, but many great modern bands are still playing with an old-school vibe, just not in the mainstream. Check out The Sword, The Vintage Caravan, Gygax, and Black Star Riders.
Have been a massive fan since I was 15 in 1970, my older brother brought home Deep purple In Rock, DP and most importantly Ian's voice have shaped my love of music all these years. Deep Purple In Rock forever in my heart. 🤘🤘💜💜🤘🤘
I was 14 in 1970 when I bought Deep Purple in Rock after listening to my older cousins copy. It inspired me to pick up the electric guitar and was the catalyst for lifelong love affair with classic rock music. I'm still playing Ritchie Blackmore riffs 54 years later..🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

The old men can still do it! The machine is well oiled and runs smoothly. Great new song with a lot of old Purple feeling. I wish the boys many more good years. Keep on rockin'.🎸🎙😎🎶💯🤟
On the threshold of eighty years these guys still propose rock at the highest level. Deep Purple my eternal love.
❤
❤
The guitar solo followed by Don's organ solo are phantastic! As is the whole song - classic dynamic Purple.
Yeah, the "new" guys fit like a glove! Classic Purple sound
OMG! I'm 57 years old, and these Blokes have been doing this since I was a wee child! They sound as good as "Smoke on the water"!
Well I'm 66...and my big 'rebel' album when I was a kid was Made in Japan. I was 14. Now I'm a retired great grandfather. Yet I reckon their latest stuff since 2017 (i.e Paradise Bar etc) is equal to or better than Machine Head. .esp this latest album. These guys are masters of their craft. Incredible work ethic. Only two others can compare...Paul McCartney and Bob Dylan.
@@JonesofArc How can you compare McCartney to the one of the greatest rock bands of all time? HE was a lame pop star ever since about 1968 and has been living off OLD Beatles songs since then......

Hello, how are you? It is nice to meet you here.
I am 67 and I grew up listening to Deep Purple's music, as a child, through high school and college. In fact it was Deep Purple's music that go me hooked to heavy metal. And I never tire of listening to their music. I often resort to Deep Purple's music in order to recharge my batteries. Their music will live forever.
With ya brother.
I too am 68 born in’55 and listening, yeah listening to Deep Purple now and then, the older songs. Sends great vibes and waves of nostalgia emotions of the times back then. Probably the Best times of my life or Ever.
I'm the same age as you. My favorite rock band. Love listening to "Machine Head" in 5.1 surround sound. I'm glad they stuck to a unique sound, closer to the classic lineup sound.
No I do not live in years gone by but I did have wonderful times back then. The music was, is like none other music played nowadays. Oh yeah the music of today is wonderful but it’s like a vintage classic car or truck. Not made like before. I still Bracket Race my old HS car, it’s a ‘71 Dodge Charger SE 440 and she knocks out today’s Camaro’s and Mustangs and Challenger’s including older models too. Guess I’m vintage too! Because I’ve heard someone say- Don’t mess with that old man and his bad-Ass MOPAR.
At least they still sound like Deep Purple. I remember when they reunited for Perfect Strangers 🤣
If you can still bring it like this, why retire?
wow...

Deep Purple is the reason I started playing the guitar and how I ended up being a musician.
Having been born in the early 90s, I obviously got into them way past their commercial peak. As a kid I fell into the 'I was born in the wrong era' trap.
But the lesson I learned from Deep Purple is the importance of being in it for the music. When Steve Morse joined in the 90s, the kind of hard rock Deep Purple was known for was no longer a thing (although their influence was certainly present in the grunge and post grunge of the time) but they still played with the same passion they always had, and probably even more so with the more wholesome vibe Morse brought to the band's chemistry.
I finally saw them live in 2006, when almost all the members were over or nearing 60. I missed the presence of Jon Lord but they replaced him with the only person who could, Don Airey. And boy, they played. My ears rang for 2 glorious days after the gig.
I got to see them again in 2023, playing a festival with much younger bands and while Gillan's voice had considerably weakened (which is allowed for a nearly-80 year old man), Glover and Paice still played like it Osaka in 1972, and Simon McBride more than delivered as Morse's successor.
And now, it's 2024, and I get a little emotional that these dudes, particularly Gillan, Paice and Glover are still making new music after over half a century while virtually all their 70s contemporaries either have either broken up or have sadly passed on.
Truly a one of a kind band.
Just pre-ordered the album on the strength of this and the other tracks they've previewed. The boys are sounding great!
Keyboards section so classic 70's so awesome
Don quoted a bit of Jon in there))
Praying for all the rock legends that have passed away
