@Panos Xaitagian - the next Golden Five was Blackmore on lead guitar, Ronnie James Dio lead vocals, Tony Carey on keyboards, Cozy Powell on his double bass drum kit and Jimmy Bain on bass guitar forming Rainbow after DP broke up - their Rising album is fakking brilliant!

My very first intro to this masterpiece, my older brother was blasting it from his upstairs bedroom. Totally mesmerized, I sat at the bottom of that staircase, getting goosebumps from a song for the first time...I was 6 years old, and that was almost 40 years ago. Still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. I'm forever grateful to my brother for passing down his knowledge of all things great, especially his kick-ass taste in music.

Without a doubt, my favorite DP song, ever! I'm 58, and I remember well the day this song hit the radio during my junior year in high school. I immediately bought the cassette from my local music store so I could crank it on the stereo of my 1955 Chevy 3600 affectionately called "The Crazy Train".

Can you remember, remember my name?
As I flow through your life
A thousand oceans I have flown
Oh, and cold, cold spirits of ice
    Ah, ah, all my life
I am the echo of your past
I am returning, the echo of a point in time
    And distant faces shine
A thousand warriors I have known
Oh, and laughing as the spirits appear
    All, all your life
    Shadows of another day
If you hear me talking on the wind
    You've got to understand
    We must remain
    Perfect strangers
I know I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow
A strand of silver hanging through the sky
    Touching more than you see
The voice of ages in your mind
Oh, is aching with the dead of the night
    Oh, precious life
Your tears are lost in falling rain
And if you hear me talking on the wind
    You've got to understand
    We must remain
    Perfect strangers

It's the name of a very famous musician, which if he is a fan of the band, he must have seen in print many times.
It's a 3 letter word for fucks sake, not really difficult whatever your nationality.
Notice he spelt Ritchie Blackmore perfectly, but couldn't manage the same with JON?

”Can you remember remember my name
As I flow through your life
A thousand oceans I have flown
    And cold spirits of ice
    All my life
I am the echo of your past
I am returning the echo of a point in time
    Distant faces shine
A thousand warriors I have known
And laughing as the spirits appear
    All your life
    Shadows of another day
And if you hear me talking on the wind
    You've got to understand
    We must remain
    Perfect strangers
I know I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow
A strand of silver hanging through the sky
    Touching more than you see
The voice of ages in your mind
Is aching with the dead of the night
Precious life (your tears are lost in
    Falling rain)
And if you hear me talking on the wind

I was intruded to hard rock at the age of 14 by a friend who found "In Rock" in his older brother's record collection. It blew me away, and changed my life forever.
I was unbelievably excited to hear that the MkII lineup was reforming in 1983-84 and I was at Knebworth to see them in 1985. I saw them play a number more times at Wembley, the Brixton Academy in '93, and then Jones Beach in 2002, and three times on their farewell tour at Bristow, VA, Charlotte, NC and Atlanta, GA, and was pleased to be able to take my 11 year old daughter to the Atlanta show in 2018. ... But they were never the same after Ritchie left.

Yeah, I was about 17, I didn't know Ian was an opera level singer until that show, he would be carrying a note, we would get one out and start firing up, then look up, and he would still be on the same high note.
Hard to believe that was their second wave.
Here's a Santana you may not have seen.

I became a Deep Purple fan after seeing them perform live at Giants Stadium in New Jersey, traveling from the Bronx, NYC. Deep Purple went on between Guns and Roses and Aerosmith. In all honestly, I was tripping balls on mushrooms, and was there mostly to see G 'n' R; they filmed the Paradise City video at that show.
However, I was too wasted to even get up outta my seat to leave as I had planned. I had little interest in 'classic rock' at that time - I was still a kid and my tastes were limited as most kids tastes are. Ignorant of the finer things, let's say; I was into what my little niche of friends was into and nothing else.
But when Ritchie Blackmoore (I sure hope I spelled that right!) struck the first chords of Deep Purple's performance, my tripping ass got chills and goosebumps all over my body, and I immediately went from not caring to intensely interested. I leaned forward and focused all of my attention on the show as everything else around me melted away.
I knew a few songs from being exposed to them, but it was THIS SONG, which I had never heard before, ever, that really hit me between the eyes.
The stage was covered in fog, and the band was rocking out, and purple lasers were flaring just over my head...and I was peaking.
Energy suffused me. During the chugging part, I managed to stand up somehow, and I put up my hand so the lasers could hit me (I was way up in the nosebleeds, so I could actually touch them), and I swear, it was a transcendental experience.
I left halfway through Aerosmith, cuz Deep Purple had CLEARLY blown them out, and they were boring me to tears. I've never like Aerosmith. I can't remember anything about Guns 'n' Roses performance. It was ok, I guess, but Deep Purple simply killed it. So professional. So talented. So powerful. True legends, showing everyone else what rock 'n' roll is really about that night.
I spent one day being pretty damn hung over, but two days after the show, I went and purchased this record, and quickly followed it up with every joint in their catalog.
Learned a very, very valuable lesson that summer night: Never assume anything about a band or musician, or any artist, really, until you've seen them live.
Legends are made on stage, not in music videos or lip-synced television performances.
Bless you, Deep Purple, for surprising me, giving me one of the best trips I've ever had in my life, and great music to last a lifetime!
Thanks to anyone who read this long ass comment! Be eezy!
