Most underrated playoff game of the millenium. This game was remarkable and largely forgotten now.
Because the team that won lost the SB
Not for me!!! I am here to watch this again!
Kari Franci was in AZ for work at that time, couldn’t believe the celebrations at bars and restaurants that night
Nobody ever expected these two teams to meet in the 2008 NFC Championship
D K E Ok
That 2008 Cardinals team was so hard not to love even if you weren't a Cards fan. Sad that most playes on that team won't ever get a ring
TheSquidReport at the time I thought they stunk (9-7?), but Rolle, DRC, Dansby, Campbell all became perennial pro bowlers. Really underrated roster.
yeah. the roster wasn't great on the bottom end but they had some great players at the top end no doubt. The defense was underrated and would give up yards but they could make plays and stop teams when they had to and create turnovers. and the receiving duo of Fitz and Boldin was unreal
Maybe this is their year they look pretty good right now , 5-0 start.
boldin got one. i remember I really wanted the eagles to get him but the ravens got him instead then they won the super bowl.
I rather Pittsburgh win SB 45 than SB 43.
Some of the most underrated players of all time in this game, edgerrin James, anquan Boldin, Trent Cole Brian Westbrook, adrian Wilson Darnell dockett
gridion109 You forgot the most underrated, Larry Fitz
YouWantMooreOfThis he was never underrated
Jpgoeagles He's underrated when it comes to the conversation of all-time great wide receivers.
and kurt warner to but good thing he made the HOF this year
I didn't think Warner deserved it first over Dawkins but maybe I'm just biased
Cards have to be the team with the most entertaining games in NFL history. Win or lose
Facts
That is laughable finally started doing good when they got out of our division NFC East
@@jffry24 You act like the NFC East has been good or something....lol
Gnev Gnok They are the best all time division in NFL history. 2010’s were rough but still got 2 rings in total.
@@telamon1071 people forget 2000s and early 2010s dont exist or something
people forget the miracle of the cardinals...were 9-7 and given no chance. 6 turnovers forced in carolina, beat the eagles, and very nearly pulled off a big comeback vs steelers
we werent given a chance either ' just didnt come out on top this game
DeSean Jackson #Jaccpot #0ne0fone #1hunna eagles were better...destroyed them on thanksgiving......if they played 10 times, eagles would win 8....cards were lucky Jim Johnson was fighting cancer...RIP
WTD Productions not to mention the uncalled pi
Bruh u stupid they wasn’t 9-7 if they had home field adv
MAN Larry Fitzgerald is a great guys they should put him in RB
Larry Fitzgerald Killed My Eagles That Day But His Postseason Was One of The Best I Had Ever Seen As a Eagles Fan!
True Cardinals know that there was a sense of mutual respect
Desean Jackson touchdown tho
Facts 💯
@@stavcohen240 Desean Jackson should been lot better what he was . and he was injured a lot to . not saying he wasn't good but he should been better to . i think he only had 5 seasons with 1000+ and his highest td's season was 9 .
It honestly makes me so sad that fitz probably is gonna end his career with no rings, GOAT
na az is gunna shock the world next year.. they play better with out expectations
Fitz is such a legend. Ever since his days in Pitt. He has always showed up big in playoff games.
Right #Birdgang their schedule does suggest that what u think
Shane Caudill wishful thinking but come on be realistic. Otherwise you're just gonna be let down
mikevickisabeast how is it wishful thinking ? Lol the cards were just 1 game away one year ago .. This year was just a snake bitten year Bruce Arian's will not let that happen again . The cards beat 3 playoff teams this year and beat Seattle in Seattle and then tied with them .. They have the talent too .
8 years later and I'm still saying Pass Interference on Kevin Curtis play
Almost 12 years later and im saying the same thing
as a neutral party, I believe it was obvious PI. Of course, the commentators always say that in a playoff atmosphere the refs let it slide more often, which I think is stupid.
@@hotbam37 Yeah, I understand them letting things slide within reason. But that was a pretty blatant PI.
They were too scared to throw the flag
100%...I was so pissed at the time

when was the strip i had on a cardinals defender " that we recovered ' after McNabbs int ?
What do you mean "I had on the defender" this can't be the real DeSean Jackson. I mean maybe but i doubt it.
Wesley Hur mcnabb threw a pass that bounced off some1s hands and was intercepted and I chased the person down and stripped him ill show you hold up
My strip was at 19:40
It was amazing to watch the career renaissance of Kurt Warner this season and the one afterwards. After his short stint with the Giants, I thought he was done, designated to be a serviceable backup for the years he had left. Shows how much I know about football, because he proved me and many others wrong. He was a man on a mission this year. I don’t care that the Cardinals were 9-7, Warner should’ve been the MVP that season. He led them to a division title, 4,500 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, a career high in completions, and quarterbacked the ARIZONA CARDINALS to the Super Bowl. Without Warner, Arizona maybe wins four or five games.
And the best 3-4 seasons the franchise has ever had when Warner played for the cards
Hell warner was a backup to leinart at the beginning of this super bowl season and absolutely balled and snatched leinart out of the league, god I love Kurt Warner he was so nasty accurate for the rams and cards such a fun guy to watch he made games fun to watch that’s for sure.
This Cardinals D was so loaded. DRC, Dansby, Calais Campbell, Wilson, Dockett, Rolle
Antonio Smith later became a pro bowler with Houston. That made 7 current or future pro bowlers on that roster at the time.
Dedin Abbas I still can't figure out how they went just 9-7. Solid O-Line, HoF quarterback, 3 1,000 yard receivers, edgerrin james, and 7 pro bowl defenders.
Warner's INT was a 14 point swing. Even with Holmes catch they should have won that SB by 11 points.
Because 2008 was the last great NFl Season. You had so many good teams like the Giants, Panthers, Steelers, Ravens, Titans, etc. putting in work. I really do miss that season.
@mike Richards yeah that sucked. I really think if they play that game 10 times the cardinals win 8 times out of 10. They even almost won and nobody remembers that the steelers wouldn't have been in TD range on that last drive except the safety slipped a couple plays before the Holmes catch, which set the steelers up in the red zone. turned what should have been a ten to fifteen yard catch in Steeler territory into a big gain for the steelers
Warner is a beast
This game gets me a bit emotional as an Eagles fan because it was Jim Johnson's last game as defensive coordinator before he succumbed to cancer. He was relegated to coaching from the booth because he was unable to coach from the sideline. Great game nonetheless.
I was in jail when this game aired. When I say the whole jail was SICK when the Eagles lost!
what a bad way for a great DC to go out. the eagles smoked them when they played earlier in the season it was 48-20 or something ridiculous like that. but the cardinals just completely embarrassed the eagles d and Jim Johnson this rematch.
🙏🙏
That had something to do with their d not playing that good that game but still should of won
I miss this Eagles team
Tyron Wells me too. so much talent
Saaaame.
*Bandwagon
Soopersil3ntassasin How
Soopersil3ntassasin yeah dummy
This game gives me stomach aches, was an excellent game
Saaaame.
sportsnerd1738 word
still one of the worst losses i remember... super bowl for pats included...
Made me poop
sportsnerd1738 refs cheat the Eagles on that last play to Curtis
Still remember this game, would've been a pennsylvania super bowl if the Eagles won.
Mike Craig yeah
Mike Craig well they didn't
Mike Craig sorry bud but cardinals had to prove the doubters wrong
If elephants could fly we wouldn't need planes.
yeah...sure.
This game marked
-The first-ever conference championship win in football Cardinals history
-Only the fourth-ever time a professional sports team from Arizona made the final championship round in their league
-Andy Reid’s last appearance in a conference championship game as head coach until 2018
-The last time any wild card team hosted the conference championship game in NFL history to date
I was confused about why the cards had home field advantage
@@jessepusatero5511 agreed it was a crazy year cards were way better than their record though they phoned the last 3 games in that year because they had already clinched the division.
The last game as an Eagle for Brian Dawkins, Tra Thomas and John Runyan, as well as Jim Johnson's swan song as Defensive Coordinator. Many thanks to all of those legends for many great years, great games and great memories.
Im a packers fan and I was heartbroken for them
Damn I miss this team....Still get pissed watching the SB but damn this season was legendary, The streak Fitz had this postseason was incredible. #RiseUpRedSea
Sadly, it appears that “Larry Legend” is done with the Cards. He embodies the Cardinals and sad to see it end but I guess all good things come to an end. Thank you Larry for all the memories; both on and off the field. A true gentleman.
Hope that he can somehow get a ring!
Easily one of the Cardinals in history. Certainly in my lifetime
Q-Fitz is easily my favorite reciever tandem of all time.
Don't shoot me, but until Fitzgerald caught fire and upped his game in the 2008 playoffs and beyond, Boldin was easily the better receiver. Big, deceptively quick/fast, great hands, tough as nails. Broke his jaw against the Jets in 2008 and was back in a few weeks later. I remember sitting at Sun Devil Stadium during his rookie year in 2003 and watching him make play after play on a horrible team. Until Haley showed up, Fitzgerald was quite content to catch the ball and go down. Haley lit a fire under Fitzgerald's ass and the rest is history as the saying goes.
@@robertslydell6990 does boldin have the second most yards in nfl history I mean that season boldin was better but career stats Larry is better by a long shot
Eagles went to five NFC Championship games in like seven years...
Five Championship games and only one Super Bowl that was lost. Poor Andy Reid. He and the whole team deserved better.
Eagles and Patriots are the best 2000s teams hands down.
It’s a Pennsylvania thing cus the Steelers did the same thing lmaooo... crying on the inside
@@ghost-iu9hv Team was too cheap. McNabb finally had offensive weapons at the end of his career. He could have played longer but clearly lost his love for the game.
@@IncognitoSpraxexactly. if the eagles FO had the mentality they have now and got McNabb some help they would have won at least one super bowl.
I was 12 years old at the time and 28 now, what a time it was to be a cardinals fan. I wish I could go back and relive those moments.
Wentz will bring a Super Bowl to the nest #FlyEaglesFly
Three things I remember from this game. 1) Warner was just brilliant. 2) Fitzgerald was just magnificent 3) the all Australian punter showdown between Graham and Rocca. Graham and Rocca had so many brilliant contests in their Australian Football League (AFL) days when Graham played for Geelong and Rocca played for Collingwood and then North Melbourne. Graham was desperately unlucky (along with Fitzgerald and the rest of the Arizona Cardinals team) not to win the Super Bowl.
This game pains me to watch but brings back so many memories being a youngin watching this even tho we lost and it hurts so god damn much hurt the most outta all the NFC title games we lost but this game holds a special place in my heart in a weird way. If only I could describe the back around story to what happen when this game was being played and me watching it. Then people would understand this is why I love the NFL. I know alot of y'all can relate
IamCarlo I can relate
Larry Legend
This was the first NFL game I ever watched, as an Australian, I never even knew much about Gridiron but after seeing this game I loved the Cardinals and I loved the GOAT, Larry Fitzgerald
BEST CHILDHOOD I HAVE EVER HAD IN THE YEAR 2008-09
I was a senior in high school that year. I miss nfl back in the late 2000s
Loved the Reebok era.
Same here
Gah damn this eagles team was stacked
Thot Quin not really. They only had DJax at wideout. McNabb had no weapon. Kinda sucks.
The Giants and Cowboys had more talent this season tbh.
J.J. Squat 44-3
I had double the receiving yards of the next player and was a rookie but every other position was great
Westbrook was on this team too people... That guy was a beast.
This was McNabb and Andy’s last chance at a SB. No doubt they would’ve beaten the Steelers. Really thought Super 5 was going to have us HOF moment at the end of this game; but it wasn’t to be, story of his career, not enough weapons, inaccurate, and unable to perform in clutch. Andy Reid has now built 2 separate dynasty’s in 2 different city’s and is 2-2 in drafting franchise QBs. I would argue his career is more impressive then Belichicks
Eagles ruled the NFC for like 5 years.
Andy Reid era in philly and utter heartbreak. Name a more iconic duo.
I was there. I know they came up short in the Super Bowl, but just having the chance to see them get there is something I never thought I'd see with my own eyes.
This was such a good eagles team
Red Ripper ik😌
No it wasn’t they went 9-6-1
At least in 2019 we have Alshon Jeffery, Zach Ertz and Carson Wentz
I could never re watch this game as an eagles fan but now that we finally won a super bowl I can re watch some heartbreakers
If Bruce Arians was coach this team 9 years ago, they would be a dangerous team
Chad AZ eh
Colin Wellock wisenhunt sucks
Peter Lira ehh
Devon Hope ehh?
ironacally Bruce arians was the offensive coordinator of the team that defeated us in super bowl
This was such a heartbreaker for me as a kid growing up an eagles fan. After the game ended I remember crying it out for a good five mins😂
Best QB Fitz ever played with.
Oh for sure Warner was 10x better than Carson Palmer and Carson was the only good qb for the cards besides Warner. Plummer could have been really good but the teams the cards had those years jake was here were horrid they had no players especially on offense.
Thank you for all the awesome memories NFL.
Sincerely,
A cards fan
Coming from an Eagles fan Fitz deserved to get that ring that year. I was cheering so hard for the Cards that game. But man that pass from Ben to Holmes is the greatest pass I've ever seen. One of the best catches I've seen too
The Cardinals that year getting to the Super Bowl was a shocker. Then, they almost beat the Steelers in a great Super Bowl game!
Larry Deserves a ring more then anyone else
I want this crowd so much in every game
Cant your team has fake fans, only cheer win they have a winning season
@@eagle___empire3175 not true
Bro how is Donavan McNabb 🗑 he’s been to 5 NFC championship games that man is so underrated. He went to 4 straight NFC championship games with the 4th leading them to the SB. He could’ve went back to the SB in this game but sadly lost & Steelers win the SB
He sucks
As an eagles fan it hurts to rewatch this 😭😭
Ahah HURTS !🤣 how about this new loss🤔🤣
Man, Fitzgerald should have a ring, that was a great SB as well
Good old days 😭
Lone Voice there’s no real difference than then and now exeot the guys are harder and hit harder
I love McNabb. My favorite Quarterback.
That's sad
@@pretorious700 i would still rather have McNabb over romo in a big game
@@ericsigersmith2831 seems to me Mcnabb had bad luck in big games he played in what 5 nfc championship games only won 1 ? How
Even though I'm an Eagles fan, and even though they lost, Larry Fitzgerald is my favorite player, and it made me happy seeing him play well.
Got that ring now
PROPS
Mcnabb got us to 5 nfc championship games but only 1 super bowl
My friend a eagles fan and a Clemson fan
This was heartbreaking to watch back then as a Philly fan. Would of loved to see my Eagles go back to the SB and could of possibly had a battle of PA in the Bowl with Pittsburgh.
Dante Jackson could've had a pa superbowl 3 times in a decade. steelers made it twice but eagles lost twice in the nfc champ game. eagles made the sb but steelers lost in afc champ game.
@@shadowlee022001: both teams made it to their Conference Championship but lost
2004: both made it again Eagles won their Conference Championship game but the Steelers lost theirs
2008: both made it again Steelers won their Conference Championship game but the Eagles lost theirs.
As an Eagles fan, I really hope one day we get the Steelers and the Eagles in the Super Bowl
I'm a giants fan but this was one of the best eagles teams I've seen...
I remember this game so vividly. I was so excited to watch this game, i was about 12 yrs old. The Eagles were so close to win but the Cardinals came through. Awesome NFC championship game. One of my fave. Go Philly!
This game was the Cardinals’ Super Bowl
I remember this game as a little ass kid. Absolutely amazing game!
Something to watch while quarantine
And for the second straight year, Asante Samuel’s season ends in heartbreak in Glendale, Arizona. Both games were broadcasted on FOX.
Damn you football gods, if only Fitzgerald would've gotten just one championship everything would be perfect.
Moss too
Who says he can’t
fun fact: the top 3 defenses were in the Conference Championship games that season (Steelers, Ravens, Eagles)
Section 114 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾 i remember being at this game like it was yesterday! Fitz and Warner absolutely destroyed this postseason. Fitz was god mode unstoppable.
was at this game live, the energy in Arizona was amazing
1:35:29 Ya boy thought we were goin 2 tha Super Bowl
gotta give credit to eagles fans for being loyal despite the fact of the absence of a ring
Dr. Legend despite the destruction chip kelley has caused and is still affected by his decisions. Smfh😤😓
Dr. Legend Fly Eagles Fly for life!
and the cardinals
Haha well that comment is no longer valid. Screw the eagles. Skol!
Dr. Legend now they have one!
As a Steelers fan, this was as close as we’ve ever come to playing the Eagles in an all PA Super Bowl.
I was so hoping for that matchup but it just wasn’t meant to be. The Cardinals were red hot during the postseason and it seemed as though Philly underestimated them. But at least the Eagles finally did get a ring of their own more recently.
I remember on the last play of the game I jumped up and started screaming "GET DOWN, GET DOWN YOU ****ING IDIOT!"
I still wish ARI won the Super Bowl that year. SHOCK THE WORLD!
We absolutely deserved to win. Could’ve had a Pennsylvania Super Bowl
Na fam
Kevin Curtis got tripped on that 4th down!
greatest playoffs by a reciever EVER and fat ben ruined it for him with that pass to holmes.
really felt sorry for larry, unlike the nba you need 53 guys to win
Mo Overall Fitness Hacks Warner ruined it by staring down the receiver the whole way
DeSean Jackson #Jaccpot #0ne0fone #1hunna ??the interception to Harrison?
Mo Overall Fitness Hacks ya
no, Harrison just read it the whole way. he was originally pass rushing, but he dropped into coverage after he read the play (the Cardinals had run that pick concept slot during the season in the red zone). The most impressive part of that play was fitz running down James Harrison...
*a lot during the season
I was at this game as a kid! Still have confetti. Will never forget it
Thank you for this... really thank you
I am an Eagles fan. This game took place on my Birthday
21:25. Lewis makes that catch, that was in his hands, that turns the game's momentum to the Eagles and they win this game. Don't blame McNabb for losing this one.
The team with the bird logo is gonna win
As a Philly fan, this was my 2nd favorite Eagles team of all time
Super underrated NFC Championship game too. Very fun game. Tale of two halves but the better team won
TheSquidReport eagles were better that year they would have won the super bowl
Better team did not win. Larry Fitzgerald carried Arizona, an inferior team, through the playoffs and to the Super Bowl.
Fitz had a great postseason but the team wasn't scrubs lol. Anquan Boldin was a beast and in his prime. Pretty sure both Fitz and Anquan were 1000 yard receivers. Kurt Warner was balling out. Edgerin James was good that year. The defense also had some dogs on the D Line including the underrated Darnell Dockett. Karlos Dansby is a top 20 linebacker all time. Dominique Rodgers Cromartie had a solid season and the safety duo of Adrian Wilson and Antrel Rolle was great too. The roster wasn't great all the way through but they had play makers on both sides of the ball that were game changers.
just when you thought it could have been an all-pennsylvania super bowl, the eagles choke again, what choke-shocker
Big Daddy ™ Cardinals team was stacked. Good O-Line, Fitz, Boldin, and Breaston all had 1000 yard seasons. James & Hightower, HoF Warner playing like an MVP. Wilson, Rolle, DRC all future pro bowlers, Dansby, Dockett, Campbell all pro bowlers as well. A bad Warner INT away from winning the SB. Underrated team. Eagles were mediocre and lucky the Giants choked in the playoffs that year.
Stop making up lies that eagles team was not mediocre they didn’t get lucky against the Giants either they just flat out beat them this eagles team was very good and showed that in the playoffs they won 2 road games and came close to winning a third but Larry had other plans
Wow, hard to believe there are some players in this game that are still in the league. Larry Fitzgerald and Calais Campbell.
This was Campbell's rookie year, and Fitzgerald's fifth.
I still remember this game I was about 9 years old and was hoping for the egales to win. But I finally got to see them kick the door in in 2017-18 season.
This had to have been the most unlikely NFC Championship matchup. The 4 seeded 9-7 Cardinals who were only there because their division wasn’t good. And the 6 seeded eagles who had to get past the top seeded Giants. Then thy faced off and we witnessed this masterpiece
Eagles deserve a ring they have great heart man i feel bad
Wilfred Fazio Mueller we don't like pity but true
Alk Ward they wouldn't have beaten the steelers anyway
Alk Ward no they don't
I thought that the 2008 nfl playoffs was the most underrated postseason ever, the best teams were Steelers, colts, chargers, titans, giants, Panthers, and eagles

Green wall Tree which made it even crazier
@@greenwalltree and blew out the Panthers.
this is how ill remember the "GOAT" brian dawkins. always torched when it matters most. if hes a HOFer then you my as well put the cheerleaders in

Rodney Harrison still hasn't gotten into the HOF.
I really forgot how good Fitzgerald was. Dude is a top 10 receiver of all time.
Top 3
lol top 2 now
sad they got robbed of the super bowl Fitzgerald deserves a ring
Mark Labett nope they just lost
Mark Labett robbed, what you think holmes didn't make the catch?
he only got 1 foot down
only one foot was down smh
no. he tip toed that and i hated those steelers.
dansby is so underrated
Docket and Barry were to
Best event I have ever attended. To watch the Cards fly out to the lead, cough it up, and then Hightower squeaks into the end zone..... talk about a whole range of emotions in 3 hours.
Wow I can't believe it's been 10 years.
McNabb was a tank man damn...I think he got too big which effected that accuracy .
Such an underrated game
Amazing game . Unfortunate the refs were playing for Arizona that day. But the eagles played pretty solid. So did the cards. That's probably the best roster Arizona ever had back then they were stacked! I think Brent celek is the only player from this game that made it to our Superbowl win in '17. And Larry Fitzgerald still playing to this day! Amazing!
Imagine if the Eagles won this game, we would've had an all Pennsylvania Superbowl
Thankfully, we didn't
Game still hurts 8 years later
Still waiting for the cards to win one
Cards had a awesome crowd that day u can feel the energy
Damn McNab is inaccurate in the clutch sometimes bruh
So inaccurate he made himself puke
i like how he almost didnt get in because of his own player on the first TD
*I hated the way they lost games in 2008 yet I continue to return to this game*
That flea flicker to Larry is nasty 😳
They ran that play a lot that year and got big gains with it more times than not Warner was really good with throwing deep accurately and when you have a guy that can go up and catch anything like fitz why the heck not take deep deep shots.
Too bad the eagles didn't get a superbowl with this team. Mcnabb and Westbrook top 5 eagles players of all time.
Most people wanted to see the Keystone bowl Eagles vs Steelers......
